Create Bank Deposits

Business value

With bank deposits, you post all transactions that are included in a single bank deposit. If you post a lump sum, it makes bank reconciliations easier to do. Also, if you need to register deposits that cover more than one business transaction, you might prefer to use deposits instead of general journal entries.

Feature details

Bank deposits let you maintain a transaction record that contains information that can be applied to outstanding invoices and credit memos.

By using bank deposits, you can easily view all transactions included in a deposit. Bank deposits also make bank reconciliation easier. These advantages make using deposits instead of general journal entries the preferred approach for registering deposits that cover more than one business transaction.

The Bank Deposit page specifies the bank account deposited into, total deposit amount, posting date, document date, dimensions, and currency code, as well as the deposit lines.

Deposit lines contain information about the individual deposited items, such as checks from customers, cash sales revenue, or refunds from vendors. This information includes the document date and number, account type and number, and amount. The total of the amounts on the deposit lines must add up to the total amount of the deposit entered on the deposit header before posting the deposit.

After you enter information about a deposit and add deposit lines, you must post the deposit to update the relevant ledgers, such as the bank ledger, general ledger, or customer ledger. The details about posted bank deposits are stored for future reference and are available on the Posted Bank Deposits page. Alternatively, you can also access the details when you do bank reconciliations.

The Deposit report displays customer and vendor deposits with the original deposit amount, the amount of the deposit that is still open, and the amount applied. The report also shows the total posted deposit amount to reconcile.

Find the bank deposits capabilities under Cash Management on the Business Manager and Accountant Role Centers. You can also use Tell Me to search for the Bank Deposits page.

Available in release 20.1:

You can now undo posted bank deposits. The action is found on the Posted Bank Deposits page and will reverse the G/L registers for the posted bank deposits.

Introducción al Spring Release’19 para Business Central

Hola a tod@s,

Hace unos días Microsoft hizo público el documento que revela las novedades que nos traerá la “Spring Release’19 de Dynamics 365”.

Para aquellos que aún no están familiarizados con esto, lo explico muy brevemente. Al igual que ocurre con otras líneas de producto, Microsoft lanza 2 actualizaciones “mayores” al año, estas 2 oleadas son en abril y en octubre. Entre dichas actualizaciones mayores, tenemos con carácter mensual otras actualizaciones menores, correspondientes a parches, etc.

Hacer un resumen de todo lo que vendrá en la Spring Release es algo imposible, puesto que afecta a todas la soluciones Dynamics 365 y tecnologías transversales. Por tanto, voy a centrarme en lo que afecta en particular a nuestro Dynamics 365 Business Central.

 Novedades y mejoras para los usuarios

Una de las constantes, desde que Microsoft adquirió Navision, es la búsqueda de la mejora de la productividad de los usuarios de la solución.

Con esta release, se busca una experiencia más fluida en el entorno Web, con cambios muy interesantes orientados al incremento de velocidad de entrada y análisis de datos, como la entrada rápida, la clasificación de las listas y los valores. Se introducen varias mejoras en las funciones relacionadas con el contexto del cliente, como por ejemplo el indicador de fecha de trabajo. Se incorpora asimismo un modo de enfoque de documento, búsqueda mejorada y un nuevo inspector de páginas.

Otras funciones como los filtros al exportar a Excel también se han mejorado (añadiendo una opción de “abrir en Excel”), así como otras mejoras en los menús de navegación, como el autoguardado, el selector de fecha, etc.

Por último, Business Central será más intuitivo gracias a una experiencia de personalización avanzada y mejores capacidades de descubrimiento de nuevas funcionalidades, como acciones de menú actualizadas y grupos en todo el producto, así como la posibilidad de personalizarlos con el fin de adaptarlos a las necesidades y preferencias de cada usuario.

 Mejoras en el rendimiento, fiabilidad y escalabilidad

Independientemente del tipo o tamaño de empresa, el usuario busca una plataforma confiable sobre la cual dirigir su empresa, que permita colaborar y hacer el trabajo.

Junto con esta ola de nuevas características, se ha invertido mucho en mejorar el rendimiento, la fiabilidad y la escalabilidad de Business Central.

Ahora Business Central se ejecuta más rápido, enfocado en escenarios de negocio y patrones de uso típicos. La experiencia en el navegador es más “responsive”, los recursos del servidor están optimizados para una interacción de los usuarios más rápida, y la base de datos está optimizada para gestionar más datos y cargarlos más rápidamente.

También se ha incrementado la estabilidad del servicio, con la posibilidad de establecer la programación de las actualizaciones fuera de las horas de trabajo. Por otro lado, se ha incorporado un único sitio de “auto-ayuda”, donde se podrá consultar documentación, compartir experiencias con la comunidad de usuarios a nivel mundial o solicitar asistencia de una forma muy sencilla.

Por último, en el apartado de seguridad, también se está trabajando para cumplir con los estándares más exigentes del mercado, como ISO27001, ISO27017, ISO27018, SOC 1 & 2 Type 2, HIPPA BAA, y FERPA.

 Accesibilidad

Aunque esto podría entrar dentro del apartado de mejoras para el usuario, es conveniente destacarlo. Business Central está haciendo una gran apuesta por ofrecer una interfaz de escritorio y móvil altamente accesible, y esta es una de las mejoras que vienen en esta actualización de abril.

 Aplicación base como app

Esto que se rumoreaba hace meses (o años ya) y que se constató en algunas demos que se hicieron durante Directions’18, ya es una realidad. Disponemos de la aplicación base como “app”, es decir, como una extensión, compilada en AL usando Visual Studio Code.

Datos e Inteligencia Artificial

La última gran novedad que encontraremos en el lanzamiento de abril está justamente relacionada con los datos y la inteligencia artificial. La apuesta será ir llevando los datos a CDS, en primera instancia integrando Dynamics 365 for Sales a través de CDS, de tal modo que obtengamos la información de Dynamics 365 AI for Sales, y los usuarios de Business Central puedan tener información inteligente, como la puntuación de oportunidad predictiva en las ventas.

En próximos posts voy a ir desgranando cada uno de estos pilares de una forma más concreta, adentrándome en los detalles (que se puedan contar) de lo que se nos viene con la Spring Release’19.

Allow the sell-to and bill-to customers to be different for jobs

Business value

We've added support for projects where the party that is receiving a service is different from the party that is paying the bill. When a project manager creates a job, they can specify the customer who will benefit from the project, and this customer can be different from the company that will pay for the project. Additionally, the project manager can specify the place where the work will happen by selecting from a list of ship-to addresses for the customer, add information about external references to simplify communication about the project, and overwrite the standard financial terms of the specific project.

Feature details

We've added Sell-to and Ship-to field groups to the Jobs page. Existing jobs will be updated automatically, and these new fields will inherit values from the respective fields in the Bill-to group that was already available.

Additionally, the Your Reference, External Document No., Payment Terms Code, and Payment Method Code fields are added to jobs and will be respected when you create invoices.

The Payment Method Code and Payment Terms Code fields are not populated with information from the customer selected in the Bill-To Customer No.field.
