All Buddy wanted was a nice ‘date night’ with Rumble.

Buddy and Rumble’s schedules for the past month had been packed with things, making it hard to take time for each other.

Luckily, they finally made an opening on both schedules.

Buddy walking down the halls with Rumble.

“So, what movie do you want to see this time?”--Rumble

“Hmm… don’t know…”--Buddy

“Aw, c’mon Buddy you always have a movie on your processor. I’m sure you can think of one that doesn’t stink.”--Rumble

“Excuse you—”--Buddy

“Yes?”--Rumble

Buddy gives him a fond smile before patting his helm.

Rumble playfully swats it.

“Hey! What did we talk about that!”--Rumble

“Well, you were asking for it.”—Buddy

That’s when the floor beneath Rumble suddenly disappeared. Swirling colors replaced the purple and grey floor.

Buddy didn’t think twice about jumping in after him desperately latching onto the ledge of the portal.

Which was a personal feat.

The commotion had brought the attention of some nearby Decepticon who were already running towards them.

But the second Rumble’s servo slipped, Buddy let go of the edge and went after him.

Everything was swirls of pink and green until Buddy blacked out.

Rumble woke up to a bunch of Autobots looking at him.

“GAH!”--Rumble

Rumble stands up with his pliers ready.

He looks around at some familiar looking Bots and some unfamiliar looking ones.

“Rumble? Is that you?”--Ravage

“Who’s asking—Ravage?!”--Rumble

Ravage walks closer to him.

He sniffs before scrunching his muzzle.

“You’re not Rumble.”--Ravage

“And you’re not Ravage, he can’t talk.”--Rumble

“That’s because you’re not from here.”--Brainstorm

Rumble looks at the teal mech.

“And who are you suppose’ta be?”--Rumble

“I’m Brainstorm! And the reason why you and your companion are here.”--Brainstorm

“What?”--Rumble

“He is a scientist, and he was messing with that blasted suit case again.”--Ravage

“What suitcase?”--Rumble

“It travels dimensions, to put it simple terms.”--Megatron

Rumble turns to see Megatron.

“PRIMUS! When did you get this big! Come to think about it, most you guys are taller here…”--Rumble

“As Ravage was saying, Brainstorm accidentally brought you and someone else from your dimension to this one.”--Megatron

“Wait, did you say someone else? But who…”--Rumble

Rumble gets rid of his pliars to shake his helm with both servos.

“Oh, course that dumb, selfless, stinking, loveable dummy would jump in after me!”--Rumble

“Loveable?”--Megatron

“Buddy jumped in after me!”--Rumble

“Who’s Buddy?”--Megatron

Rumble fully stops and stares at Megatron.

“Buddy? Your Buddy? My Buddy! Ringing any bells!”--Rumble

Megatron shakes his helm.

“Never heard of a bot named ‘Buddy’ before.”—Rodimus

“… No wonder you lost the war.”--Rumble

Rumble looking accusingly at the Autobot badge on Megatron’s chassis.

Megatron just vents tiredly.

“We should keep an optic out for this ‘Buddy’ you speak of then.”--Brainstorm

“That shouldn’t be too hard, just look for another mini and that’s it.”--Rodimus

“Who said Buddy was a minicon? And no, we aren’t going to find them.”—Rumble

“What do you mean?”—Megatron

“They’re going to find us, or at least make some noise—“--Rumble

Swerve comes through the doors

“Something came out of the oil reserves and is shooting everything! It’s like the creature from the Black Lagoon if it was armed!”--Swerve

“That’s Buddy.”--Rumble

Buddy venting heavily with their optics trained on the mechs in front of them.

Then they see Rumble.

“Rumble!”--Buddy

“Buddy!”--Rumble

Buddy clicks the blaster.

“I swear if you don’t let him go—Megatron? Ravage? What’s going on?”--Buddy

Buddy sees the Autobot badge.

“What is this!”--Buddy

Rumble comes running to them in a hug.

Buddy, one arm hugs him back but doesn’t take their optics off of the mechs.

“Buddy, Buddy put down the blaster. We can explain this.”--Rumble

Buddy not budging.

“Buddy.”--Rumble

Buddy finally venting before putting both blasters away still holding onto Rumble.

“You better.”--Buddy

Buddy continues to glare at Megatron and Ravage.

After a quick trip to the wash racks, Buddy was finally caught up on the whole situation.

As well as hearing more facts about this universe’s war and Megatron.

Buddy and Ruble in exchange told them a bit about their universe and their war.

Buddy couldn’t lie when they’d say that they were a bit jealous that this war was over.

Even if the Decepticon’s didn’t win, at least it was over.

More and more bots and cons started working together and finding themselves again.

That was something Buddy wanted more than anything.

A peaceful future with Rumble and their family.

A bit whimsical, but it never hurts to be optimistic.

While the science department managed to find a way for Buddy and Rumble to get back home, the two were made honorary members of the Lost Light.

The pair got along well with some of the bots on bourd even making friends.

Buddy did manage to get some one-on-one time with Megatron.

Was it awkward for the both at first?

Yes.

Did they get past it?

Yes, after a joint poetry session and story sharing moment, the two rarely seem too far apart.

Did Megatron get attached to this young bot?

Yes.

He didn’t know how, but he felt comfortable around this bot. Almost as if he knew them for their entire life.

He couldn’t explain it with reason, but it felt nice.

Buddy was in turn fond of this ‘pacifist’ version of their father.

They knew well that any Megatron would have some sort of rage underneath layers of masks. This one just seemed to be much more in tune with it, or at least learning to.

Now there were two things that both Rumble and Buddy forgot to mention to the crew.

That Buddy was Megatron’s offspring.

And the both were dating.

But the crew found out…eventually…

“What about you two?”--Whirl

“What about us?”--Buddy

Whirl drapes a servo around Buddy’s shoulders, getting an angry look from Rumble.

“You two seem to be attached to the hip ever since Brainstorm brought ya here. Why?”--Whirl

“Whirl don’t tease them.”--Cyclonus

“What do you mean?”--Buddy

Whirl vents dramatically.

“Are you or are you not Junixies with the minicon?”--Whirl

“Whirl!”—Buddy and Rumble

Rumble looks a bit nervous while Buddy is trying to keep their composure.

“We haven’t done that…”--Buddy

“I mean if you want to.”--Rumble

Buddy nearly has whiplash when they turn to Rumble.

“What?”--Buddy

Rumble getting even more anxious.

“I...I…”--Rumble

“Spit it out! Or if your too chicken, I’ll just ask them myself.”--Whirl

Rumble looks angrily at Whirl before shouting.

“SO, WHAT IF I DO WANT BUDDY AS MY CONJUX!?”--Rumble

Silence.

“Rumble… Rumble do you mean that?”--Buddy

Rumble turns to Buddy who looks scared yet hopeful.

“Ye-yeah. If you’d have me?”--Rumble

Buddy lets out an ungodly squeal while hugging Rumble hard and shouting ‘YES!’ over and over again.

“I can’t wait to tell Megatron this!”--Buddy

“I’m right here? And congratulations.”--Megatron

“No, my Megatron, my father. Oh! We would need to do all of this in the base—”--Buddy

“Excuse me what?!”--Rodimus

“We would need to do the ceremony—”--Buddy

“Not that!”--Rodimus

“Yes?”--Buddy

He is about to ask more about this when Brainstorm comms in saying the portal was back open but wasn’t going to be for long.

Buddy quickly grabbed Rumble, shook some servos, and added a hug here and there before sprinting to the lab.

The others followed suite.

They made it just in time.

“I know this isn’t exactly formal or proper, but the portals about to close, so BYE!”--Buddy

Rumble waving from where he was being carried.

“See ya later losers!”--Rumble

Buddy tightens their grip on Rumble as they jumped into the portal as it closed.

Meanwhile in the Decepticon base…

“What do you mean they dived into the floor?!”--Megatron

“I mean they dived into the floor!”--Starscream

“Status: Unknown. Continue search.”--Soundwave

“They will show up one way or another…”--Megatron

“Please Megatron, they would—”--Starscream

Buddy and Rumble popping above Starscream, properly flattening him.

Muffled screams.

Hm... How about any characters you want with a big scary Cybertronian SO whose actually a sweetheart?

(G1) Starscream, (MTMTE/IDW1) Misfire, & (MTMTE/IDW1) Ambulon with a scary Cybertronian S/O who is really a sweetheart:

Starscream

{The two of you knew each other way before the war- and you also knew Skyfire, so Starscream knows how you are.}

{He knows that your just sweet- especially to him- and don’t really fight, but the others don’t know that- besides his trine. He likes seeing Megatron get nervous around you, as well as the Autobots.}

{If anything happens to him- either by the Autobots, Megatron, or something/someone else, you’re taking him to your shared quarters and cuddling with him, while trying your best with words.}

{You and Starscream will use your ‘scary’ status sometimes- mainly against Megatron, if he happens to be really angry at Starscream for failing.}

{When Starscream finally manages to become leader of the ‘Cons (although its short lived), you cuddle him then and there, complimenting your Conjunx. The others find this kind of awkward, but they’re still nervous/scared of you.}

Misfire

{You stormed your way onto the ship shortly after Krok and Spinister managed to save him- you almost got blasted by the two (mainly Spin), but Misfire quickly managed to defuse the situation and explain.}

{You’re much bigger than Grimlock and Spinister- arguably the tallest Scavengers, but they’re just in second and third place.}

{The two of you talk a ton, and are both kind of affectionate most of the time- the others see the two of you holding servos most of the time- and other times, you’re just holding him close.}

{You’ll protect him- and so will Grimlock. The group’s gotten into a lot of situations where they have to fight, and once the one(s) who caused it sees the two of you, Misfire can see that they’re nervous.}

{You’re just... very nice and affectionate with him, which Misfire likes. Especially when the two of you are alone. No matter where the two of you are, there’s so much you’re doing for him and saying.}

Ambulon

{There were things that Pharma wanted to do against Ambulon- but he never really could- considering that you were always with the mech, glaring deeply at Pharma whenever he happened to be around.}

{If Ambulon ever has a relatively bad day, you’re right there with him. Offering him any sort of comfort, while also offering to just go have a chat with whoever upset him (if it was somebody).}

{You’re always defending Ambulon, too, from countless things- and it’s actually a mech or something, they’re always quick to back off.}

{Everyone thinks you’re just scary and that’s it- they don’t know what you’ll do- besides Ambulon and the other medics.}

I've been thinking quite a while now about Brainstorm's potential origin story and am just using this post as a way to compound/spitball my thoughts/theories/headcanons? I don't know what to call it but apologies, it's realll long:

"Genitus of Operation: Solar Storm", what if Operation: Solar Storm was a military campaign that literally utilized solar storms? Solar storms come in various types, including but not limited to Coronal Mass Ejections (CME), Solar Flares, and Solar Particle Effects (SPE).

Generally the dangers of solar storms are that they can blast radiation, protons, plasma, etc. (depends on the type of solar storm) which could potentially in turn affect satellites/spacecraft, radio communication, GPS, electronics, etc. and funnily enough, transformers (the electrical kind, not Cybertronian kind).

Unless Cybertronian comms also use radio waves that utilize the Ionosphere, or their tech also utilizes electricity, the main danger from solar storms to Cybertronians would likely be the actual outward blast itself. Radiation probably being the bigger danger? Since its been shown radiation does affect Cybertronians (ex: Kup and Nickel's radiation meter probably having some purpose).

A sort of idea I had is that Operation: Solar Storm involved the Autobots utilizing a nearby star's solar storm to take out a large amount of Decepticons via a concentrated radiation blast?

The operation of this kind likely needed a lot of scientists to work on a mass weapon or device to pull it off.

Brainstorm's altmode is a fighter jet, so it's likely he wasn't built with the intention in mind to do science. Instead, my guess is that his purpose could've been either to protect the scientists/device, or (bc he's so disposable as an MTO) get dangerously closer to the sun in place of the scientists? Such as to collect data or to plant stuff there for whatever theoretical device.

Perhaps if this military operation theoretically had a lot more science involved than others such as Simanzian Dawn or Corcapsia Incursion, at some point Brainstorm picked up/was more involved in the science aspect? Especially if it involved building a massive weapon as suggested. During which, he might've had superiors noting him on his intellectual prowess; resulting in him being transferred from combat to research/engineering instead.

A military operation that largely involved building a massive solar weapon could also potentially explain how despite being deployed as an MTO, he never killed anyone? As he'd have less of a chance of seeing active combat.

Also we see him in MTMTE lie about being forged? I always wondered if after he was theoretically transferred, his superiors gave him a new identity/told him to pretend to be forged?? Perhaps they either wanted to not encourage other MTOs to try and transfer, or some good ol' past functionist beliefs were at play I dunno.

Or his origin story could be as dumbed down as: was actually born in the science division or something I dunno, I'm not an IDW writer lmaoo

Sorry its so long, I've sat on these ideas/theories for such a long ass time and needed to spitball them out kdsks- (but also I have the infodumping sickness, hence that semi-irrelevant chunk about solar storms whoops)

Hey, I was thinking of a oneshot request for MTMTE Rodimus, Megatron, Drift, Whirl, Tarn, Shatted Glass Optimus Prime and Bayverse Ironhide with a Cybertronian S/O who can transform into a weapon (and it depends on what weapon she turns to, depending on who the character she is with). I was thinking it could be a female S/O as well, to make it easier for you cause I'm aware that's a lot of characters lol. Thank you, have a good day/afternoon/night 🤗

MTMTE Whirl x Cybertronian!reader

this one ended up longer than I thought LOL

Whirl is immediately thrilled to have such a cool partner. At first he was distrustful of you, as usual, and even challenged you to a brawl for no reason. All you were doing was having a small drink at Swerve's, chatting and laughing with a couple of other bots. It was about your second or third time showing up at the bar, you found it quite easy to make friends here. Now, Whirl wasn't particularly interested in you when you first arrived on the Lost Light. Nothing unusual, you were just another bot, right? And yet like many others, after seeing you a couple of times he just couldn't figure out your alt-mode. Were you on the LL for no absolute reason and just another has-been?

And so he did the most logical thing, he suddenly marched up to you and said something like, "c-mere!" So...you did the most logical thing as well. Despite the mechs holding both Whirl and you back, you managed to transform and fire in a split second before you hit the ground.

Despite having a gaping hole in his chassis (nothing fatal, don't worry) he never left you alone after that.

It's been a while since the two of you have been together now, to the surprise of many and others simply said you were meant for each other. So it came to the point where you could trust him as the one to handle your alt-mode.

"You sure this won't uh, blast my arm off or something?"

"I'm not sure, actually, but we'll find out." Anyone who was unfamiliar with you two would wonder why Whirl was talking to a talking blaster that was bigger than the size of his clawed servos, but luckily you were alone. This was the first time either of you had done this, it startled the both of you when you transformed and magically clipped onto Whirl's arm like a built-in blaster meant just for him. Unexpected, but convenient.

"Ready?"

"Re-"

He fired and the both of you went flying backward into the wall. The blast didn't hit the desired target and instead a bit above it, creating a burnt mark on the metal walls. Meanwhile, debris fell onto Whirl as he recovered from the hit, you were both sitting in a dent in the used-to-be wall.

"Whirl! Are you- are you okay?!"

You transformed back and knelt down beside him, gently shaking him by his shoulder plates. He seemed a little dazed, you always wondered how his single optic can be so expressive. He lifted his right servo a bit shakily, the same one he fired with, and placed it near your chassis.

"That was...that was hot.."

You best believe after that, you grew closer than ever. He no longer collapses at your alt-mode's recoil and he looks badass while attacking his enemies, what more could he want?

Although the mech was a little funky, you wouldn't change a thing. You snapped out of your thoughts when suddenly your surroundings went silent, you looked up at your conjunx only to meet his gaze as well. His yellow optic turned into an upside-down "u" shape and you couldn't help but smile.

MTMTE Tarn x Cybertronian!Reader

Let's head back to Issue #7, yeah? Also I can't see Tarn being in a healthy relationship but I love him just as much as others do, so I made him somewhat sane for you, anon (or I made reader just as crazy, idk)

Tarn would never admit how much he enjoyed your alt-mode and well...you in general. He does, but in his own odd ways. The mech is so accustomed to using others for his own gain, taking and taking and taking but giving only when it's beneficial to him. But you? He cherishes you the way he cherishes what he does. You would've never thought you'd be part of the DJD, much less being the literal conjunx of their leader. Yeah, you knew about all their actions but you couldn't help but hold your helm high up as you stood next to your partner, peering down at a beat-up mech as the rest of the DJD stood around him.

Black Shadow, you remembered, was quivering on the ground with most of his armor melted off, barely cooling off. But at what cost? He had already been partially melted by Helex and now it was time for you to partially do your job.

"Y/N, love. Care to assist me in teaching this traitor a lesson?"

You obliged, you transformed into the cybertronian equivalent of a circular saw with the sharpest of blades. Over time, you too had gotten your own modifications of course. More and more blades were added to your alt-mode, resulting in a ravishing and formidable torture machine. The beaten mech's optics widened, albeit weakly, knowing what was about to happen.

You thought it was sweet the way Tarn would carefully clean off the spilled energon from your blades every time you were finished with a traitor. Suddenly with you, he had the most gentle servos known to cybertronian-kind. After that was done, the mech let out a soft sigh. He would- read this carefully, he would give your alt-mode a peck and gentle pat on the weapon. He would take pride in the way your bio-lights would brighten.

"You did so well, as always, Y/N."

Can I get hc's for how rung from mtmte would react to being in the middle of a therapy counseling session with a bot, and they are finally trying to open up and talk about their problem when a giant loud bomb sound goes off blasting part of the room away leaving the room half completely gone. ( the blast done by a gun experiment gone wrong, from another part of the ship) And can I get whirl, tailgate, and rodimus's reaction to being in the other room across from them and reacting to seeing rung and the other bot still sitting in their chairs still shocked?

Rung:

If he had known it was going to happen, he would have tried to shield the bot or move them out of the way. But he didn't. It came as such a sudden surprise all he could do was sit there and let it happen.

He felt bad for the bot. They were making such good progress and so close to opening up. He expected they may go backward and all progress was lost, but he would help them through it again.

He wanted to feel angry, he wanted to feel disappointed in the bots who caused the explosion. But at this point, behavior like that should be expected. All he could do was sigh.

In fact, Rung was more disappointed in himself that he had not installed blast-proof doors. But after this, he would definitely make sure to make a request for them.

Rodimus:

He knew he was going to get an earful from Ultra Magnus about this. Magnus would make it his problem and give him a list of things that had to be fixed.

Rodimus was already picturing the paperwork he would have to do.

He tried to push the thoughts aside, rushing over to Rung and the other bot, making sure they were alright. But in the back of his processor, he could hear Magnus' voice.

Rodimus was amazed they were just sitting there, unmoving. He assumed it must be shock, most other bots would have been freaking out.

Whirl:

He was amazed and impressed someone made such an explosion. But he was also upset that it wasn't him who did it.

He wanted to blast the ship apart, but he would get in trouble if he did.

He was slightly glad to have Rodimus and Tailgate sitting next to him. If he didn't have an alibi he was sure someone would have tried to blame him for the explosion.

He was impressed that Rung and the other bot where sitting still, looking somewhat unscathed. Perhaps it didn't reach far enough to hurt them. Whirl watched Rodimus and Tailgate rush to Rung's aid. He knew they would be fine, so he stalked off to find out what impressive machinery caused such distruction.

Tailgate:

When the explosion went off he leapt to the floor, trying to dodge whatever it was. He only looked up when it went silent. He looked across to see Rung and the other bot still sitting there.

Tailgate quickly rushed over, talking to them, asking if they were alright.

He couldn't believe they hadn't moved or tried to dodge like he had. He was impressed, thinking they must have such good reflexes not to flinch. However, the more he looked at them, the more he realized they were probably still because of shock.

He asked Rodimus if he should call Ratchet. He was a little worried about them as they continued to just sit still. He hoped they were ok.

Blastwave, Scared [Fugitive; MTMTE]

The tiny mech’s field as he shook in the Autobot’s arms. “Sh sh sh,” They said, petting his shaking frame comfortingly. “The scary mech can’t hurt you now.” They whispered as Guillotine’s limp frame was dragged out of the lab. The mechling only shook more.

The words were meant to comfort. Clearly, the mechling was traumatized by his experience with the maniac Decepticon, the Autobots thought. So seeing the mech dragged away in handcuffs would surely be a comfort.

But they were wrong. Guillotine was the strongest mech the Blastwave had ever seen. A great Decepticon war frame, a bastion against the scary mechs in the outside world, his brilliant engineer of a progenitor. He was not a threat. 

What made his plates tremble was the Autobots. 

They had broken into their hidden home, guns drawn, voices loud and harsh, and took down his strongest protectors when he had fought with all his might. Now he was their prisoner and he was petrified. He somehow gathered himself in his state of panic, clenched his jaw, and furiously pinged Vaporwave.

He wasn’t sure what Vaporwave would be able to do, but he knew his carrier would do everything in his power to help his terrified sparkling. He couldn’t be to far away. His progenitors only separated for the day to get Blastwave and his twin to stop fighting each other before coming back home when they both calmed down. He regretted fighting Beatdown now, he would have gladly taken a punch to the face by his afthead brother if it meant he wasn’t in this situation.

Vaporwave pinged back quickly, glyphs laced with worry and concern. Blastwave shot back his coordinates and a terrified ::AUTOBOTS. CAPTURED. HELP.::

An urgent ::I’ll be there as soon as I can:: was shot back almost immediately.

He almost shrieked when the Autobot picked him up. They took him outside the building and into the alleyway entrance where more policemech stood. Blastwave started hyperventilating. He was surrounded by enemies.

Vaporwave wasn’t anywhere near as strong as Guillotine. He couldn’t possibly take on all these mechs himself when his conjuxq hardly stood a chance. Instead, he had a different solution: sleep bombs. He had enlisted the help of Guillotine for the actual ‘bomb’ part, but he had created the sleep virus himself and given the rest of his family an antivirus for the stuff in case the stash he carried ever went off. That, in combination with a smoke bomb, would make the perfect cover to grab his sparkling and conjux.

He rolled the sleep-smoke bomb into the crowd if mechs in front of Guillotine’s workshop. It activated with a hiss of smoke and nanoparticles, confusing and immobilizing all the mechs.  He swiftly scooped up his sparkling. “Blast!” Vaporwave shouted in relief. The mechling’s  trembling melted away as he relaxed in his progenitor’s familiar grasp, field licking with relief, sobs wracking his frame.

“ Sire.” The little mechling managed to croak out through tears.

“Beatdown!” Vaporwave called to his other son. “Get your Sire, we need to leave.”

As if pulled from a trance, Beatdown pulled himself from around the corner and ran to the transport vehicle Guillotine had been shoved into, broke his cuffs, and slung his progenitor’s arm over his shoulder so he could carry the mech out. He made sure the sharp plating of his warrior frame didn’t pierce any of his progenitor’s internals as he did so.

And then they moved to a neutral colony so they wouldn’t be bothered

◦ Blastwave has a civilian frame, but loves fighting (weaponized sound system)

◦ Beatdown has a war frame, but doesn’t like fighting (having a warframe meant “tough” kids always challenged him to a fight when all he wanted to do was read and do arts and crafts; he’d rough house, but the impromptu tackles of his classmates and friends were not welcome)

◦ Both were trained to fight for their own protection (being a Decepticon’s kids), but Blastwave took more of a liking to it

Bjorn POV again so he was tasked to wait outside and if Russ didn't come back in time to tell everyone he was dead he is greatly enjoying himself sitting on the mountain in silence well aside from nature sounds i think bjorn's life could be greatly improved with one of those nature recordings if he could just put some headphones on when he's stuck with everyone else

update: he is NOT enjoying today's silence it is an ominous silence annd Russ is back huh all the gothi who did the ritual for russ are dead i wonder if that includes Kva

everyone looks at russ to find a way to save the last ship he tells them to leave it "imperial ships were mighty tools of war, but nothing made by man can compete with a star"

so they took a whole bunch of casualties breaking in there's a whole host ahead of them squints russ orders full speed ahead for the vengeful spirit

Rictor is such an enduring fave for me because he’s sick as hell and he struck me as cool one time which means I’m obsessed with him forever. Pretending for a moment that I have a specific rationale for why he’s the best comic book character of all time (outside of MTMTE), it’s because he serves a crucial role in every book.

Rictor’s character isn’t strictly unique. Edgy spike-wearing gay character afraid of their own powers? Rachel did it first and better. Latinoamerican New Mutant whose father broke his heart and who can’t stop dating and breaking up with female teammates while pining after a male one? There are two of them. The only thing that makes Rictor special is that he keeps getting written off and coming back. While most D-listers have a secondary role in a single non-X-Men ongoing and then get put in the dustbin forever, Rictor has been in at least one ongoing per decade for forty years. While most C-listers get cycled into comics consistently, Rictor drops off the face of the planet whenever the one writer who remembers him gets moved to a different book. Introduced by Simonson, dumped by Liefeld, resurrected by Nicieza, jettisoned by Loeb, picked up by David, blasted into oblivion by Bendis, retrieved by Rosenberg/Howard and now silenced by Duggan. Nobody ever thinks of him as a cast member; he’s a curiosity.

He’s a peripheral character. This is melded into the very essence of his writing—he’s volatile, constantly on the edge of leaving (getting written off), abandoning Xavier’s ideals, abandoning hope in life at all. Rictor needs to be convinced moment by moment that staying with an X-Team is better than acting on his own. He’s done heroics off-panel, he’s been his own master, he has his own loyal backup, he’s sceptical of authority for good reason. When you bring Rictor into a book, he asks the other characters to justify his presence to him and to us the reader. Rictor questions the very foundation of whatever he’s in and we get to read the answers he’s given. It wouldn’t be the same without the years of push-pull as he gets almost completely forgotten but not quite.

Siege of AR-558 brutal harrowing episode obviously but its one funny moment to me wasn't the one that they were aiming for (Rom's bit with Vic) but instead just that like. Quark was there.

It makes perfect sense from the writer's theme and emotional standpoint, you want to someone to denounce humanity and Starfleet's war of course you want an outside voice to do it. And it works well.

But the REASONING for Quark being on the Defiant in the middle of an ACTIVE MISSION IN A WAR ZONE. "Uh, something something the Grand Nagus," the writers mumble. "Don't even worry about it."

And not only is he on the Defiant he then gets to BEAM DOWN with the starfleet personnel into (and this cannot be overstated) THE ACTIVE WAR ZONE. And then all the starfleet personnel are various levels of annoyed when he comes barging in with his denouncements like "hey human war is bad" and the nonstop papa-bearing of Nog. Again this makes perfect sense for the THEME of the episode but. Its funny to think that the Starfleet people are annoyed when Starfleet would have had to agreed to allow Quark to come along in the first place. Thinking about how and why Starfleet would acquiesce to the Grand Nagus putting Quark on a starfleet ship is very very funny to me. Why wouldn't Starfleet just tell him to kindly fuck off? Was the Nagus bankrolling the Federation's war or what.

I finally finished Rose's backstory and I'M PROUD OF IT! After speed reading MTMTE and LL (I am missing a comic, so the ending came far too near.) I finished around 3506 words and 22 pages, there is footers with the source comic (Some of which are labelled issue one, two, etc) The full document will be linked under this info dump fest. I accept feedback IT IS GREATLY appreciated.

The Legend of  Athena Maximus was lost due to most sources of zir existence being wiped from the planet. Athena Maximus wasn’t forged or placed online and is one of the first genderless cybertronians, ze accended from the skies as a gift from an unknown bot.

Athena was the result of the ideals that Adaptus presented and as such was used to try and combat it, but due to Athena’s poor frame and everything that surrounded it, ze were unable to provide any help. Not like ze were able to even be OF help since ze arrived as a child. 

Athena Maximus was a child, zey WERE a child. The mind of a child, zey, was hard to deal with because of zir powerful tantrums, Athena was meant to be of help during the great god war, but because of age, couldn’t be of help. 

Originally, Athena was supposed to be raised to be a fighting bot, to help aid in the God War, but as usual, Athena was neglected and zir dormant god abilities were left to grow out of control, impeding progress on Cybertron. 

As a last ditch attempt, Adaptus flees to Luna-1 where he blasted the planet with an electromagnetic pulse  designed to disorient the bots on cybertron. Among one of these bots were Athena, and thus caused zir to be 

disintegrated and therefore forgot that ze existed. Primus tried to take the blow, only for him to be irredeemably forgotten. 

A genderless cybertronian woke up in Polyhex with the designation of Rose, The Senate was astonished by this, as they never really heard of this before. But soon after a few conversations and repeated introductions, Rose left.  

Rose thought this effect was a one off thing, but it kept occurring. To the point where zey got other people in an eternal loop where zey introduced zirself only to repeat conversations that ended nowhere. This effect caused Rose to be banished to a lifetime of loneliness. Which played into zir love for traveling. 

Rose traveled outside of Cybertron in search of new worlds, being alone in the journey. Rose at first didn't mind because at least other bots wouldn't suffer from verbal loops. 

Zey arrived back at Cybertron arriving at Delphi due to an accident occurring, Zey was found unconscious and unresponsive in zir space shuttle, the small shuttle was intact though. 

Being brought into the clinic, Rose met an intern medic who was trained under the Medic First Aid. His name was Life Alert.

Life Alert treated zir wounds and helped zir out occasionally. 

Rose stayed in Delphi to wait until zir space shuttle was fixed. Rose ended up learning more and more about Life Alert and finally at last someone didn't forget zir existence. Life Alert was a great company and after he graduated from Medic Academy agreed to go on an expedition in space with Rose as a medic to help aid zir. 

Rose was smitten with Life Alert and did anything to help him out with his studies. During their time together, Rose gained an understanding of how medics worked and as such Life Alert taught zir some form of basic medic knowledge. 

Traveling through space, the two returned to Cybertron, which unfortunately was in the midst of war. And tragically, Life Alert lost his life during that time. 

As Rose held onto Life Alerts servo, he uttered these simple words: "I see you." 

This broke Roses' spark as zey confessed to Life Alert about how much zey loved him and how all zir time being online bots never saw zir. 

At that moment, Rose knew Zey had to fight for Life Alert. Rose enlisted a mentor, a mech by the name of Alpha Sapphirus who had high regards for Rose. 

Forged Cold, Alpha Sapphirus was an old time military bot who dated back to fighting alongside Kup in the first cybertronian war. Alpha was quite experienced in the majority of combat and melee ranged attacks and was a hard to beat opponent. 

Alpha saw potential in Rose and pushed zir to become the best zey could be, Rose was taught how to defend zir honor and restore it. 

Rose was sworn to the sword and was getting stronger and stronger. Rose learned more and more about Alpha Sapphirus as time went on. His reasoning for wanting to push Rose to be the best zey can and protect other bots was because Alpha Sapphirus had a lover, a mech by the name Ripcord. Ripcord was also a Military Bot who talked a lot with Alpha during his times in need and while Alpha Sapphirus was a brooding and stoic individual. 

Ripcord got through to Alpha Sapphirus and actually made the mech smile a few times. Alpha Sapphirus and Ripcord bonded and became conjunx enduras and both had an oath to protect one another. 

Alpha was quite efficient on the battlefield and proven to be a force to be reckoned with, and with Ripcord the two were a perfect force. However, Rose ended up seeing the horrors of war. And the source for Alpha's brittle and stoic nature was through an incident in war. 

Through a grim picture, Rose saw the horrors of the old cybertronian war and how it affected many. Of many, was Alpha Sapphirus, covered in the blood of Ripcord, he held onto Ripcord in hopes of them getting to a medic on time. 

It never came in time, as Ripcord tragically passed. Alpha Sapphirus described himself as a fool, and fools allow their partners to selfishly rot and watch them perish. 

From this, Rose strived to become like Alpha and protect those zey loved, through extensive training Rose was able to beat Alpha Sapphirus where zey couldn't before hand. Alpha Sapphirus granted zir his double sided ax, and zey repainted it to be white and pink. 

Zey parted ways with Alpha Sapphirus and to this day talked highly about Alpha Sapphirus. 

Rose found zirself traveling via ship once more, enjoying traveling more than anything. Rose is quite childish and loves to play and mess around. Zir curiosity landed zir in a mess with a bunch of decepticons. Rose at the same time fell from the sky and injured zirself, ze was later found and brought alongside the ship labeled the Lost Light. Upon arriving on the Lost Light, ze was questioned about a few things, before meeting Rodimus. 

Disorientated, ze asked what happened, and Rodimus explained that Rose was found on the outside of the ship, completely unconscious, and they brought zir in. 

Ratchet checked Rose up to make sure all zir vitals was responsive before making a shocking discovery, apparently Roses’  gender set type was set to ‘mech’ despite Rose zirself being genderless, when asked about this, Rose denies ever being a mech and reiterates that it must be a glitch or just a few screws loose.

Rodimus greeted Rose, and told zir that ze are welcomed to stay, although he does have a task for zir to complete, to which, become representative of the Lost Light, as in a Liaison, Rose agreed because ze likes to be helpful, Rose was then discharged from Ratchet’s care.

During the ship’s quantum leap, Rose was in the midst of interacting with various bots aboard the ship and getting to know each and every last one, although the ship doing a sudden leap freaked zir out, and had zir leave the room ze were in shortly to calm zir nerves. 

Once ze got zirself together, ze found zir way to the Medbay where Rung and Ratchet were talking, Rose waited until Rung was finished talking to Ratchet. 

Rose listened to what Ratchet had to say, before Rung noticed zir. He introduced himself as the Physiatrist of The Lost Light, before Rose could respond, Rung got hit in the faceplates by Whirl. 

Rose stands on the sidelines after Whirl starts a fight with Rung not wanting to step in if she was accidentally hurt, Rung manages to talk down to Whirl and get him to at least stop, where Rose just stands there shyly. 

Upon meeting up with Rodimus with everyone, Rose stands next to Rung, and properly introduces zirself, Rung shakes zir servo, and to which, Rose replies. “Rung is such a nice name.” 

Upon talking, Rodimus mentions Rose and how zey would pave the beginnings to an otherwise free lifestyle on the ship. To which, Ultra Magnus responds. “Not an excuse for you to get lazy on the job, Rodimus!”

During the incident with the Sparkeaters, Rose was talking to Rung, while he sorted his office out, ze were intrigued by the conversations about his model ships, and admitly Rose actually enjoys collecting. Rose talked about one of his model ships that looked oddly familiar to zir ship. 

Rung thought it was pretty funny, and both shared a laugh. Only for a Sparkeater to appear shortly after. Rose intercepts the sparkeater and decides to protect Rung like zey wanted to all zir life. 

But Rung assured zir that he had an insane amount of luck and that if he got injured he’d be fine. Rose responds with, “I know we just met, but I care about you, to make sure you’re at least okay and not in harm's way.”

Rung appreciates the offer, but before he could say something else, he and Rose are immediately brought up by Skids, who was in the Vents at the time. Bringing the two into the vents, Rose was acquainted with Skids. The trio head through the vents and are promptly chased by a sparkeater, Rung contacts Rodimus, to which leads to the trio escaping from within an inch of their lives.

Upon meeting up with the rest, Rodimus attacks a sparkeater using Rung as a bait, annoyed by the recklessness Rose was worried about, only for Rung to be pushed away and have Rodimus take the lead.*

Rose was called in to mediate the ongoing conflict with Fort Maximus, upon entering the room, ze are met with a sight where Rung was tied up, attempting to help Rung into calming down Fort was futile. While Whirl attempts to help, things become worse as it progresses. 

While the 4 of them were preoccupied, Swerve and Rewind were outside the ship conversing as it’s revealed that Rodimus sent the two here to neutralize Fort Max, which ultimately leads to Rung accidentally getting shot in the process, Rose feeling like ze failed him falls to zir knees and weeps. 

Rose, still feeling like ze failed Rung, decided to visit him and check on his process, he looked like he was slowly getting better, but that didn’t help quell zir worries, all zey wanted was to protect him. And zey was the only one that went to check on Rung, feeling as though he deserved better, Rose held Rung’s servo. 

“I promised I will protect you, and I failed that promise, I care for you. Something about you makes me want to care… I promise you, once you get better we can play!”  Rose would say to the bot. But no words were exchanged back between them.

Rose tags alongside Rodimus and a few selective others, Rose immediately gets bombarded with questions from Whirl and after a few misinterpreted words, it’s implied that what he said to zir was enough to notice a change in zir personality.

Rose met with the others at Swerve’s Bar, not engaged in conversation which zey usually were, while the others talked about stuff, Rose continued to listen and worry about Rung’s state. 

Rose was silent and reclusive while the others talked about their stories, Rose opened up a bit about zir story. Albeit a little different, this behavior didn’t go unnoticed by the others though.*

After Rung was fixed, Rose went alongside the team to go to earth, although zir outlook changed, zey wanted to explore earth with the others, Rose dons a disguise of a female with pink hair and long dress. Upon this, zey was given the name Rosie. To which zey commented. “Not too far off.”

When Rung got his name however, Rose giggled and found it quite adorable, still showcasing zir interest in Rung. While the crew talks, Rose began to tap zir fingers on the table, still entranced about what Whirl said to zir. 

Rung, concerned about Rose’s change of character, began to ask if there was something wrong, to which, Rose said there wasn’t anything wrong with zir, they might have some issues zey need to handle zirself, Rung offers to help, and Rose once again declines. 

Rung felt off about the whole issue, and wanted to learn more, genuinely concerned, but decided against it. Instead offering zir his services, which made zir snap. Zey yelled at him and got up and stormed out leaving a shocked Rung behind. 

Starting off their strained friendship. Rung was advised to keep an optic on Rose’s condition to make sure they are safe. As per protocol, Rung agrees and keeps a close optic on Rose. 

Rose was normal and acted like nothing happened, Ze went on the mission as normal, acting like nothing happened. Rung was concerned but noted zir actions.

Rose found zirself wandering the Oil Reservoir, watching the stars, zey reminisced about the past, future and present, blinking back tears singing zir and Life Alert’s song. As zey sang, a vision of Life Alert popped singing alongside zir.  

Rose and this imaginary Life Alert sang together in sync, much like they did when he was alive. As they sang, both of them danced together. Rose finished the song, as tears streamed from zir faceplates. A cloud appeared above zir helm as zey were sad. 

Zey was too distracted to notice Ultra Magnus walking in, the two of them have a short conversation, which ended because Rose lashed out at him, and seeing the amount of storm clouds zey were experiencing decided to leave to go back with the others.

Rose arrives back only to be met with an unfamiliar face, Rose is promptly introduced to Getaway and the two begin… Well talking, not taking warnings from Chromedome and others, eventually manipulating Rose into doing his dirty work. 

Rose however wanted to do so much more than that! Zey followed Getaway’s every command not yielding when he told zir to do such terrible things, Rose eventually was manipulated into a dangerous sparkbond that only damaged zir severely. 

Rose was checked over by Ratchet, and was fixed to minimum stability, only for Rung to walk on over and declare how dangerous that was, Rung’s worry mixed with disappointment made zir realize what zey did was wrong and looked up at Rung. 

“Why do you care so much?”

Rung, confused about that question, asked Rose to elaborate further, to which Rose explains that every time a bot cares for zir, they die or worse, go missing. And asked him in general what makes him different from most bots that cared for zir in the past. Rung responds with a simple question asking zir what zey said to him when zey tried to protect him from a sparkeater. 

Rose remembers, but doesn’t know what that has to do with right now as it was in the past, Rung responds to that question stating that time continued to grow and as their relationship blossomed into this mess today, he knew that deep in his spark, zey would understand that he loves zir. 

Rose teary optic, demanded Rung stop lying, and that zey don’t like being lied to. Rung disagrees and states he was not lying to zir, and that. “We have known each other for a while now, and I care about you, you’re special and there’s more to you that meets the eye, and ah, I wanted to let you know, I love you. Rose was so overwhelmed with emotions at that time, and wiped zir optics away from the tears and embraced a taken aback Rung with a hug, but he later hugged back content, his glasses drooping from his optics.

Upon the tapes left by Rewind, Rose explains zir insecurities about being the Liaison and how zey can’t be there for everyone. As zey used to be. Rose feels like everyone has high expectations for zir and that ze can do everything. 

Rose in these tapes compared to the actual Rose in person is quite shy, indicating that zey isn't a camera person. Upon being asked a question off camera, relating to the piano in zir room, zey laughs nervously and tries to make small talk. 

Being requested to play it, Rose tries to play zir and Life Alert’s song only to get spooked and mess up a key. Rose, flustered, apologized profusely and said it won’t happen again. 

Rose was also seen talking with Rung, but when the camera was facing towards zir, zey blushed and immediately looked away. Rose was embarrassed about this, Rose was there, holding onto Rung when he talked about not having an alt mode. 

Reassuring he’d be just as special with or without an alt mode

Rose is seen sorting affairs around The Lost Light, passing by Rung asking where Skids was, Rose didn’t stop by to hear what Ratchet had to reply with, but zey were busy taking care of things. 

Rose finished with what zey were doing and went to look for Rung only to end up seeing Rung being held by a functionalist member, Rose, zir spark beating wanted to go find him, but was stopped. 

Rose demands to go after Rung, to which Minimus replies, “You can’t go running into things impulsively like that.” 

Rose responds with a goofy yet snarky response of “Okay Dad”

Upon going with the Others, Rung was revealed and Rose freaked out, the others tried to pull Rose back. But zey protested that it was ZIR Rung and ZE PROMISED TO PROTECT HIM!

Rose ran after Rung when he ran out of the way concerned for his safety. Upon mentioning Skids, zey wondered what happened to him, and he didn’t give zir a definitive answer. Rung starts explaining a little about himself, which to Rose, zey wanted to divulge a few pieces. But I didn't want to say anything. 

When Rose found Rung, zey embraced him. Asking if he was hurt, and did they hurt him, Rung said no and asked if Rose zirself was okay. Rose responded with, “No, I don’t care! As long as you’re safe!” The two hugged each other for a while before parting from one another.

Rung proceeded to tell everyone what they did to him in captivity and Rose felt enraged, feeling absolutely hurt Rose swore to kill them only for Rung to calm zir down, declaring it was “not necessary”

Upon the making of sparks revelation, Rose reveals a bit of information regarding zir dreams where zey found zirself in a prison tower, cold, dark and alone. Rung questions that and says, he’ll talk about that later. 

Rung proceeded to tell them the only way to stop them was for him to take care of it, realizing the implications, Rose looked up at him and had teary optics. “Are you sure you want to do this?” Rose asked, Rung affirmed and said he wanted to do it.

As Rung was being talked to by Rewind, Rose chuckles and agrees with him, Rung at the aspect of what was said, decided to indulge in Rose’s comment asking what zey meant by that. To which, Rose laughs and says that zey were inspired by Rung, due to the love zey were given to zir by him, Rung proceeds to blush at this. 

In order to get rid of the Functionalist Council and restore it. Rung decided to produce crystals to save it, Rose, wanting to be by Rung’s side decided to stay around, when time came for it to happen, Rose looked at Rung and smiled. Zey thanked Rung for being zir conjunx and everything that zey went through was worth it in the end. Zey started by saying a long winded speech about how much Rung meant to zir, and how he impacted everyone’s lives even if they didn’t remember who he was. 

Rung was scared, he was, but Rose assured him and told him everything would be alright and it’s okay to feel scared. Rung smiled, looked at Rose wearily and stated, “I see you.” 

Hit by emotions that zey didn’t know what to do, and hugged him close, and wished that he didn’t have to go, Rung told zir, he wanted this, he wanted everyone to be safe. And by extent zir. Rose understood and Rung went through with it. 

Unfortunately Rung died trying to create more than 1 crystal, Rose also died besides him, since they were sparkbonded, the death of Rung was enough to kill zir as well, Roses’ final words to everyone was, “Don’t forget us, remember us as we were…”

Headcanons of IDW Thundercracker, IDW Swerve and G1 Cliffjumper with a brainwashed Reader

Headcanons for (IDW1) Thundercracker, (IDW1/MTMTE) Swerve, & (G1) Cliffjumper with a brainwashed Cybertronian Reader (platonic).

Thundercracker

[You’ve been acting a little weird ever since you went for a walk/drive/flight/etc, and he’s not sure what’s up at first- maybe you’ve just been having a bad day?]

[He’s not sure what happened, but he knows Buster was wherever you were, but now she’s running to him- whimpering, and as you enter, she’s growling at you- something she’s never done at you.]

[Thundercracker takes notice to how... dull, your optics look, and how your voice just comes off as monotone, and how you seem to be working on something, but you’re being secretive, really secretive.]

[With the help of Marissa, he figures out that you’re brainwashed, although he doesn’t know by who. What matters is getting you back to normal, somehow.]

Swerve

[Swerve and the others witness it happen- you’re all fighting against people who attacked and got on the ship, when you’re shot by some weird device- and it brainwashes/takes control of you.]

[You’re trying to attack everyone- but then Swerve steps up. He’s seen this happen a ton in some of the Earth shows and films- so, he just starts talking to you about... a lot.]

[You just stand there while he does this, and he thinks that maybe it’s working... but it’s not. You get ready to blast him, and you would’ve hit his chassis, if not for Tailgate getting his friend out of the way.]

[When everything is said and done, they decide to keep you in the brig for now until this is all fixed, and Swerve visits you in there.]

[They actually have the weapon that did this to you, and they hand it off to Brainstorm and Perceptor to see if they can do something with it- like reverse what happened to you.]

Cliffjumper

[Unknowingly to him and everyone else, you’ve been brainwashed for the last week or so- but you aren’t attacking or anything, you’ve just been meant to get information, and give it to the ‘Cons.]

[Cliffjumper does notice how weird you’ve been acting after a little while... he swears he sees you repeatedly not harm any ‘Cons while you’re all fighting, and he swears he saw you coming from the direction of one of the ‘Con bases.]

[So, Cliffjumper assumes... that the Autobots have a traitor on their servos. But, Optimus reminds the mech of what happened last time he assumed that with anybody.]

[Cliffjumper, Optimus, Mirage, and Bumblebee are the ones to figure it out completely- they’re in a ‘Con base after Bee got captured, when they hear Megatron gloating about how he brainwashed you, and how he’s getting a ton of information.]

[When they all get back, Cliffjumper feels bad for assuming it again- and he watches over you, hoping that this can be fixed, while the others try to find out how to fix what’s been done to you.]
