When you see people who have owned freeFORM Boards for years and only practice prone rollouts, tucks and pikes and never move off of the sagital plane.

A constant challenge with the freeFORM Board is naming an exercise as there are so many of them and so many variations on the themes that it becomes a huge task.
In Pilates the sagittal plane hip extension is known as a scooter but in this instance it is performed on a highly unstable and very responsive docked and unlocked freeFORM Board.
The rotation allows for a smooth transition into the frontal plane hip motion which I refer to a side skater…the reason I don’t call it a lunge is because the board supported leg knee if flexed and held statically or isometrically. This then makes the frontal plane motion of the leg on the reformer a stronger concentric contraction as less of the force required comes from the lowering of the body weight.
This is a highly unstable exercise sequence and something I would definitely recommend to any athlete that plays multidirectional reactive running sports like any football code, basketball, netball and so on. The enhanced proprioception and stability can lower the risk of injury through the foot, ankle, knee and hip.

We call this the 📐Leaning Lateral Load&Lift📐Drill. ⏹Accelerating and Decelerating laterally requires dynamic stability and in the abductors and adductors. ⏺This move isolates one of the most underrated muscles▪️ Glute Medius▪️ an adductor. Strengthening this muscle with this move will 1️⃣Improve Glute Med stability for decelerating which... 2️⃣Help prevent knee, ACL, MCL and ankle injuries from sudden breaking forces found in most contact sports. 3️⃣Improves booty 🍑 dimensions in jeans. #multidirectionaltraining #bootycamp #sprints #fastfolk @igotrypt @fingermash @atribecalledsprinters @ndefrei @whytmamba @akyilla @coachleenyc https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn8ZmZWF6jt/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7w8mnm0av1qn
