Wanting to do a check on who does TTRPG design in notebooks.

Right now I've mainly just been using it as a way to focus on brainstorming and writing down thoughts. I'm trying to also work in ways to also do commonplace book stuff to write down interesting ideas from articles and posts from others as well as write down my favorite mechanics from my research.

Any insights from others about ways to utilize physical note taking into their design, or need a reason to show off their own notebook?

WOW I know it's one of the most popular pens out there but I was not expecting the Uni-ball Jetstream to be so smooth and gentle! Normally I despise ballpoints because I have to press really hard to lay ink down and it hurts my finger and wrist joints, but if I didn't know before hand it was a BP i would have thought it a a gel pen. And mine's the 4-in-1 and the red, blue, and green ink is just as easy

Figured I should share some of my inktober stuff, cuz sharing is what it's all about. Made with multimedia paper, a pencil and eraser, and ballpoint pens... So many ballpoint pens... Anyways, enjoy the little apple demon.

I want a case for my Parker pen refills. I I am learning about cigarettes because I want a case for pen refills. There are no cases for pen refills.

Refills sort of look like cigarettes. I learn about cigarettes. Most cigarettes are a millimeter or two thicker than refills. [Super]slims *can* be about the thickness of a Parker refill, and they are available in 100mm lengths which is about the size of a Parker refill.

How do you feel about the licensed sonic pens

i don't know if you're referring to a specific set or just in general, but i can give my thoughts

pretty much all of them are meant for children, there are no fancy schmancy collabs or anything. some are cheapy multipens

some are more merch than usable pen

some have physical charms attached to the body of the pen that aren't as obtrusive

and some just have sonic branding printed on the pen body

i'm also a big fan of the "mover"/liquid pens, they seem like actual cute novelties / toys

a lot of pens aren't officially licensed, either they're handmade by some poor sap on etsy or they're mass produced aliexpress garbage.

i find a lot of these generally inoffensive but not desirable. they're cheaply made, mass-produced stuff that was manufactured to be thrown away. i can only hope that someday there's some oddball collab with a sophisticated pen company to make something more longlasting. my preference would be fountain pens obviously, but even a metal pen body with easily refillable cartridges would be great.

some FP brands have collabed with nintendo (for kirby stuff from what i've seen) and sanrio, so it's not impossible. sigh. someday.

Studying Data Analytics (SQL)

At present I’m working through the 2nd Edition of Practical SQL by Anthony DeBarros. I plan to obtain a graduate certificate in Healthcare Data Analytics so I’m teaching myself the basics so to help ease the burden of working and going to school.

Here’s how I study.

First I always dedicate a notebook (or series of them) to a learning goal. I like Leuchtturm notebooks as they are fountain pen friendly and plenty of colors (to distinguish from my other notebooks), and have a built in table of contents for organization.

SQL, Python, R, etc are programming languages used to tell their respective software what to do with data that has been input into the database. To oversimplify you are learning to speak computer. So my process in learning is by breaking the text down into scenarios e.g If I want to do X, my code needs to look like Y

Along with code examples I include any caveats or alternate use cases. This is repetition helps me learn the syntax and ingrain it into my memory. Obviously I color code my notes so I can know at a glance what each element of the code is.

My multi-pen a Hi-tech C Coleto has been invaluable so I don’t have to jump between 5 different pens I just click between them as needed.

That said as the Coleto will hold 5 different colors it means the refill are tiny and thus need to be replaced more often. Which can be annoying if I run out mid study session.

The end game is to take these notes build a Data Grimoire where I can quickly reference code and how to use them as well as to build checklists for things like data cleaning, setting up constraints, and for thinking ahead to future needs (e.g int vs bigint)

Bug Fables OC Tournament Round 4

Lorlei (xey/xem) from @flame-shadow

Lorlei grew up in the Giant's Lair roach village. While not much of a fighter xemself, xey wanted to protect xeir village and so helped work on building traps and keeping the constructs functional. One day, xey found some crystal shards, and between those and some random human items, xey eventually made the multipen weapon, designed to kill or at least severely damage deadlanders. Each cartridge contains element-aligned crystals inside a stabilizing fluid, and they're conveniently color-coded to show which element is within which cartridge. (Yellow is electricity, red is fire, blue is water for cleansing, to name a few)

Xey are strongly against using xeir weapon on other bugs except under dire circumstances, so xey have the multipen synced to the gem on xeir caplet so that only xey can operate the weapon.

After the events of the game, Lorlei is one of the roaches who ventures into Bugaria to explore and experience new places and people. Gina, an ant, finds xem, helps xem out, and keeps xem company. Together, they get into and out of trouble as they go on adventures.

While not technically a bug fables oc, Fuse is a bug and also a force of nature so I think he should be allowed to participate. Fuse is a tiny man who commits big crimes and even bigger explosions. While a genius mechanic, Fuse has very little common sense, and has blown himself up more times than he'd like to admit. You can even see him in action in my webtoon, doodlebugs! (shameless plug) He's a gremlin and therefore deserves votes.
