Kana Muramoto / Daisuke Takahashi -
Program: Phantom of the Opera
Elements:
ChSt +2.49 | SLLiRoLi4+4 (time?) | Twizzles 4+4 (!!!!! These were BY FAR the best I’ve ever seen them do) | StLi4 | DS4 | OFS (3+1 DAMN this is great and super difficult but Dai got out of sync) | ChSl | MiSt 3+2 | ChLi wait did they just both FALL asdfgjkl (there’s no way this -2 on a Choreo element can take their National title away from them, right? 😨)
Seriously, the leaps and bounds that Dai and Kana have improved and worked over the last 3 seasons is astounding. Even from the beginning of this season until now, this program has come such a long way.
There are still LOTS of minor errors and room for improvement, however since Dai is finally getting comfortable with the major differences between ice dance and singles, that there should be an easy path to implement these nitpicky corrections and changes that will turn them from a Great team into a World Class team. Namely, nipping his propensity for skip-stepping and not fully matching Kana in his steps in transitions and the pattern. But if that is the biggest thing that Daisuke needs to improve upon now (as well as his stamina for sustained elements like lifts and the OFS), then they are in a REALLY good position heading into this quad 🙏🏻
(Also hearing Marina in this kiss and cry as well as hearing Kana and Dai’s English just has me all 🥹)
Score: 108.91 for a total of 186.61 into 1st for their FIRST NATIONAL TITLE!!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

2021 Warsaw Cup entry #52
Free dance
Muramoto/Takahashi(JPN) Thoughts: wobbly exit in the choreographic lift and the stationary lift. Daisuke was also wobbly on one his twizzles. I don’t know. The novelty has kind of worn off with these two. Daisuke has pretty hands still. They steal the attention away from Komatsubarra/Koleto, who definitely deserve it more. Mistato is HAF so I maybe a little biased but we’re going to live with.
Davis/Smolkin(RUS)
Thoughts: what was that corkscrew of an ending pose? I wasn’t a fan of Dianna’s red streaks the first time I saw them but they’re growing on me. Her side profile is special also. Her dress is very busy, not loving it. Gleb, no on the facial hair.
2021 Japanese Junior nationals entry #1
Women free program
Ikura Kushida
Thoughts: this dress is amazing. She has a pretty nose also. They only seem to have the top eight or so recorded, not impressed.

I can’t even describe this. I simply went insane by the first two elements.

NHK Free Dance - Muramoto / Takahashi - JPN
Elements:
Character +2.66 (gorgeous but stretching limits on separation and floor touching) | SLLi4RoLi4 | Tw 4+3 +0.24 | StLi 4| Sp4 (? Exit) | 1F 2+1 | Slide +1.38 | DiSt 3+1 | Dance Lift +1.25
Program: Phantom of the Opera
Gosh, what a beautiful program. Daisuke was a lot scratchier in the elements than he was in the short program, but still an improvement from Skate Canada. They still have solidly, without a doubt, cemented themselves as the Japanese favorites heading into nationals. If they are able to skate to their potential, I believe they could actually crack the 4CC Top 6 — which is saying a lot in this deep field.
Also I’m so uwu at Kana Christine in her dress
Score: 103.68, total 178.78 into 2nd
