Here's something new to know about me. I'm a Murramarang woman from the south coast of New South Wales, and an Aboriginal Artist. I'm learning and trying to bring Dhurga (my native language) back to life after it was nearly destroyed during colonisation.
Here are a couple of my paintings.
The first is a Giriwa (goanna), the totem of my tribe, painted in our traditional x-ray style. This type of painting was used to illustrate and educate, to teach biology and anatomy.
Tumblr media
The second is a warigal (dingo) painted in a more decorative style, with a fusion of our more narrative style of art and my own modern style.
Tumblr media
If you've stumbled upon this post, I hope you learned something from it! I love sharing my culture ❤💛🖤

From the Stunning South Coast to Emerald Beach: Back on the North Coast again
Update on last leg of our Canberra/South Coast journey
Our return trip with the teardrop trailer was a simple but satisfying adventure. We followed a basic routine: wake, swim, drive, coffee, sleep. Repeat. Along the way, we enjoyed some of the best scenery, food and coffee that the NSW coast has to offer. We started our journey from Durras, a picturesque village on the edge of the Murramarang National Park. We woke up early and took a refreshing…

Walawaani! (Welcome!)
Nayaga Budjaan, English Taylor, nayaga Murramarang ngaranggal. (I am Budjaan, English Taylor, I am a Murramarang woman).
It's been so touching to see an outpour of support for Aboriginal art on this platform. I always recommend that anyone seek out local Native artists wherever you live. Whether that be on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island land, Native American or Canadian Aboriginal land, wherever you find yourself! Find and support local Native communities and creators.
If you feel connected or drawn to my art, I do commission work. Feel free to dm me for information if you want!
Here's an example of a commission I did last year. The marra (fish) in this painting represent each member of the family I did the painting for. Yellow circles around their heads showing that though they swim through a wide ocean of change and life, they are the centre of their world, and forever will be linked together.
Tumblr media
Thanks to everyone who has interacted with my previous art post. I hope that I can help spread awareness of the meaning and importance of Native art, and help develop an appreciation for different kinds of art in the world.
Aboriginal people having been living on this land for at least 80 thousand years (for context, that's 16 times older than ancient Egypt!) Our art is ancient, storied, vital, and continues to live today!
Support a Native artist if you can.
Dawandha-ga yindiga Walawaani (I wish you Safe journeys)

Five nights and a tent
With our leave approved we had 5 nights to get away, we better make them count! The forecast was clear so we decided to head South Coast check out some of the beautiful National Parks.  The Murramarang National Park was what we decided on which houses Pretty, Pebbly and Depot Beach (from North to South).
When we had camped in past, we never stayed in the one place two long.  This time we decided to find somewhere nice and stay put for the whole five nights.
After around 3 hours of leaving home we got to Nowra.  The drive between Sydney and Nowra has to be one of my favourites. The rolling green meadows that don’t end until they hit the sea.  In Nowra, we stocked up on supplies like food, ice and fire wood.
We hit the road again for an hour and a half drive that brought us to Kioloa on the Northern tip of the Murramarang National Park.

Catching you up on our trip to the South Coast NSW in late September.
Hello, fellow travelers! I know it’s been a long time since I last posted on tinycamper.blog, but I have a good excuse. I’ve been swamped with work, wrapping up some projects and getting ready for a new challenge. (Don’t worry, I’ll tell you all about it soon.) But I don’t want to leave you hanging, so I’m going to catch you up on our amazing trip from Canberra that we took back in September and…
