Tijuana’s first Muslim refugee shelter opened on Saturday, June 11, 2022. The two-story hostel is located in the Zona Norte area, very close to the border wall that divides Mexico and the United States. The 8,000-square-foot shelter has the capacity to serve up to 150 people arriving at the border seeking asylum. It currently houses 30 people. — The hostel and mosque was built in a space that was previously used for parties and gatherings. Guests and refugees from Tijuana’s only-Muslim shelter pray to Allah in celebration of its opening. The building will serve as a place of worship as well as support for those staying in its facilities. In the Muslim shelter there are people from Kenya, Ghana, Russia and Afghanistan, among others. — A sign when entering to the shelter’s facilities is written in Arabic, as refugees take a tour of the new facility, there is a verse from the Islamic holy book, the Koran: "He testified that there is no god other than Allah, and he testified that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." If Muslims would bother to actually study their founder, they would find a mass murdering lying pedophile who cried about religious intolerance while in the minority but all the while plotted a takeover. The Quran calls for physical war 164 times. Any Muslims calling Islam a religion of peace are either idiots or lying. Either way, we can’t trust them, and we definitely should not let them in our country. Muslim refugees should go to Muslim countries. Muslims do NOT mix with the Judeo-Christian West. I have had the privilege to visually capture the stories of our brave and empowering members of our Muslim community in Chicago for an upcoming project, God Willing. There’s one thing that most of them have in common thus far. The deeper their struggles, the bigger their hearts. This is the Muslim hospitality that you will often not hear about. Let me tell you, sometimes it only takes one cup of tea or a sincere heart who is willing to listen without preconceived notions. In this photograph, I am with a Bosnian brother who was in a CONCENTRATION CAMP. Let that soak in for a bit. Despite his emotional, physical, mental struggles (even years later) he did not let me go home empty handed. Muslim refugees in Tijuana, Mexico from Cameroon, Ghana, Chechnya and Yemen were allowed to cross into San Diego, California on Monday, August 1, 2022, under humanitarian parole, a limited pass and exception given to selected people, as the CDC’s Title 42 policy is still in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
