hi jonghomies ❤️ it's with a weary heart that i'd like to announce that I'll be closing this account for gif making (not leaving completely, please read on 😅). I started gif making in 2021 and the support, love, community, and fun I've experienced since then has been totally unrivaled. But all good things come to an end, don't they? 🥲 I'll give you some reasons for this change as well as some other info.

why?

for a multitude of reasons, the main one being I'm not into ateez as much as I once was. I do love them a lot, but these past few months I've grown distant from them for no particular reason. That's just the ebb and flow of fandom, I guess. I don't have enough energy or spirit to maintain an entire fandom account for them like I once did. Another reason is that kpop in general has become more toxic (for me); having to delete twitter was really a wakeup call for realizing my feelings about the overall industry. A third smaller reason is that tumblr isn't rly what it used to be, especially in terms of gif makers. The community used to be so vibrant and fun. I know that me "retiring" won't help the situation but I alone can't "save" atinyblr nor should I have to "bear the weight" for the sake of keeping the giffing community alive.

what's next?

I don't plan on abandoning this account! I adore my mutuals and friends I've made along the way and I'd like to cherish them. I'll probably still even reblog ateez, honestly, but only when I want to. I'll likely just keep doing what I'm doing but the only difference is I'm detaching myself from the label of ateez gif maker and I'll redesign this account's look (pinned post, pfp, banner, url, etc) to be less ateez centered. Feel free to keep using my tracking tag for ateez content, though i my not rb it (just because idk how active i'll be).

will you ever gif for ateez again?

who knows! maybe a new cb will drag me back into the pits of hell (affectionate), but maybe not.

if you've gotten this far, thanks for reading. I know I didn't need to write a post for something like this, but I felt like I should've with all the genuine work and love I've poured into this community. Every interaction, ask, tag, whatever -- I appreciated all of them, and I truly adored being your apple lady. this isnt a goodbye, just a change of scenes. thanks for the memories and i love u all ❤️🫶

what if we didn’t get the flashbacks about tom’s death until s2, so we still had “it belonged to the man i loved. it belonged to the man i killed.” and the scene where edward mars talks about kate killing her boyfriend, but we didn’t know how tom died, so it would still be assumed that his death was what kate was originally being arrested for. and we had the part in outlaws where kate mentions being married. so like, maybe tom was actually her husband? and why did she have to kill him? did he deserve it? or was it an accident? was she falsely accused? as someone who really enjoys reading pre-what kate did fics that speculate on ~what kate did~ i think leaving those flashbacks out would’ve made for some different, interesting ideas for fics between seasons 1 and 2. not that i dislike how it actually all played out. i am just having thoughts.

a couple of years ago when i was very lonely and secretive about myself i never realized how important it was for me to be unapologetically open about my interests and enjoy them without giving into what people expect me to like

it took me a long time for me to unpack my guilt and self-doubt over the things i liked and i'm still slowly unlearning what cringe culture and the ugly sides of the internet had taught me when i was just a kid trying to enjoy their life. but i still came so far compared to me back then and i have friends that have (unintentionally) helped me keep myself from going back from these times

now as i'm writing this i'm still going through a lot. i'm still going through days where i feel lonely and unwilling to be happy about my interests. but i'm still very proud of myself for trying to be myself and truly enjoy life back when i almost gave up on doing that

i don't think i would've been content about who i really am if it weren't for my friends and the people around me. i don't think i would've had the courage to put myself to the right path without them. but i'm most grateful for myself for striving for better even if it seemed impossible.

i've never read fanfic in my life but the push against ao3 seems really prudish and pro-censorship to me tbh, guess i'm on the side of nasty fanfic bc i simply do not believe in censorship of almost any kind (exceptions for snuff, revenge porn, harrassment/hate speech, and ACTUAL (not fictional) CSEM. but yeah that's pretty much the only kinds of media that i will actively campaign against their right to exist). even propaganda i think is useful to keep around to analyze and dissect and better understand the politics behind it.

the censorship of most media based on "moral content" is a slippery slope that will always lead to the suppression of taboo topics and minority voices, imo. it's reactionary and counterproductive. the people campaigning to shut down ao3 for weird smut in order to "save the kids!" sound exactly like the conservatives saying sex ed and lgbt topics shouldn't be taught in schools to "save the kids!" to me. it's all about limiting and controlling sexual expression at the end of the day. child safety never had anything to do with it.

so yeah i stand with the queer freaks and degenerates and weirdos. no one is forcing you to read about kinks you don't like, please just calm down and let people live their lives. other people's sex lives really aren't your business, or that big of a deal in any way. if a kid or teen clicked on well tagged porn and lied about their age to do it, i don't really think that's the fault of the adult smut artist/author, either. we shouldn't be trying to purify the internet of any reference to sex (yes, even weird, kinky sex that most people would be repulsed by) lest a minor stumble upon it, because that would create an artistically neutered hellscape of extreme censorship. besides... most minors do actively seek out porn/smut on their own as teenagers while privately exploring their burgeoning sexuality—and i don't see any problem with that, either. (don't tell me you seriously think teens are all completely asexual until their 18th birthday?)

anyway. i'm pro keeping the internet full of weird crazy sex freaks. i think it's actually good for society that there's places for these people to communicate with each other online. and i'm saying this as someone who has never been directly involved in these kinds of online spaces, so it's not like i have any real stake in these debates. i just think censorship, as a general rule, is pretty much always bad and that being anti-kink is an inherently reactionary position, idk why that's become such a controversial statement recently
