our animation prof from last sem finally sent the sponsors images to the kids whose trailers got accepted and she’s all like

The stupid little Heimer and Ekko scene has me grinning ear to ear because they’re just an adorable duo but it also raises a lot of questions?? I’m so curious about this whole thing.

What are they stealing?

Why are they stealing it?

When in the season does this take place?

Ekko has a legitimate point. Why are they sneaking around? It’s not like Heimer has been banished…which means Ekko has to be there. I’m not complaining because Ekko’s my second-favorite character in the show but nonetheless why is he there? It seems like he would only slow Heimer down, so whatever they’re smuggling out must be either heavy, hard to reach, or needs to be judged for merit by Ekko.

The hallway that the enforcer is shown walking down looks like the same hall that Sky was traversing when she was talking to herself about her research, so it may be that Heimer and Ekko are trying to get into Jayce and Viktor’s lab unseen. Why?

Are they trying to steal something more raw like the gemstones or research notes, or something more complex like the Hexclaw or Atlas Gauntlets?

Heimerdinger has a mask, here. Does that mean enough time has passed between S1’s finale and the present to allow for Heimer to be “initiated” as a real Firelight, or is it part of the silly gag of Heimer taking this way too seriously?

i also wonder if this shot from the trailer is going to take place in the lab after him and Ekko get wherever it is they’re looking for.

I woke up on the right side of the bed grabbing a mug of tea, sitting on the couch assuming I had enough time to relax. Picking up my phone, looking at the time, it was actually 2:30 pm, now scrolling to see 20+ messages from the cast GC. Oh shit I got to pick them up! I ran off to get ready, hurrying to grab my keys driving down the highway. I pull up to their hotel for the time being waiting for Chace, Jack, and Jessie. They all get in the car collectively yelling at me.

"The FUCK were you, you know we gotta go get food." Jessie expresses

Jack buds in, "Did you see the message about some women coming to cater our set? Their food looks good as hell."

"This "Khadijah" girl is the only thing that looks good as hell in this pic Eric sent, look Toni." Chace turns his phone around showing me.

"One sec wait till I get to the red light." I stop and grab the phone, eyes immediately going to her. "Khadijah you say? Yeah she is definitely one of a kind." She looks so good dayum.

I zoned out thinking of all the possibilities next thing all I hear is "Lalalalalalala Ouuu" being yelled at the highest octave by Jessie and Jack and what seem to be three other women. I glance over to see Khadijah struggling trying to roll her window up. Smirking to myself, I zoom off noticing the girls aren't going the same way as us.

Me and Chace enter my trailer continuing our conversation from before.

"Yeah man Khadijah... I don't even know what to say she's just so sexy" Chace stares into space with you on his mind.

"Yeah she's sexy I get it let's go we gotta go to the set." I laugh walking out lowkey feeling a little jealous.

As i'm stepping on the last step I see her, Khadijah looking fine as ever. Before I can say anything she begins to run the other direction with her friends. "What's with them?" Chace looks at them fading into the distance to set.

"I honestly don't have a clue but I forgot my lines go without me." I say seeing him heading the same way as the girls.

I sit in my trailer going back over my lines one more time for everyone's sake. Once I finished up, I walked out my trailer not really paying attention to the walkways, looking at my lines. I feel a head bump into me, ready to cuss this person out I look down seeing her again, Khadijah. She looks apologetic and I couldn't help but to admire her beautiful features, she's gorgeous. I'm smirking down at her next thing you know all i hear is "Oh shit i'm so sorry!" I laughed a little at her, she looked adorable.

I shook my head and only said "It's okay darling." Staring into her eyes, looking down at her juicy lips as she bit the bottom one.

She shook me out my state of staring, to her yelling, "COME ON YALL WE GOTTA BUSINESS TO RUN!"

I watch her run off to her car the girls jogging to catch up. I notice Julaya from the GC, her lipstick's FUCKED. I turned to find Jessie next to me looking at Julaya jog away.

Apparently P’Aof is writing the original script with the Sotus director. I’m torn about this cuz I dislike krusty a lot but the nostalgia is kinda hitting me. It’s truly og revival era

•Perfect 10 Liners: Not an ensemble again🤦‍♀️ I was so confused when I saw the huge ass line of actors onstage but it seems like this will be split into 3 parts to focus on all of the cps. So basically it’s Midnight Series but only gay with Jittirain’s mediocre engineering plot💀 Even if I were to watch this it will only be for JuniorMark but no promises made cuz I can’t even bring myself to watch We Are rn

•Ossan’s Love Th: actually I was seeing EarthMix in the opposite roles but Earth being the one stuck in between is much more fresh ig. I cringed a lot while watching this. Idk Earth maybe comedy is not your forte? I won’t be sure until the actual thing will start airing but still the sirens are on🚨

•Scarlet Heart Thailand: Tu is back again in an adaptation after quite a while. They’ve put together a strong cast here but why is Gun not here!?! I’ve neither watched the series nor read the novel but I’ve heard people say it was traumatising🤡 Since it’s a historical setting, this will cost a lot in production I don’t expect this to air until the end of next year

•Leap Day: This is the best one out of the lakorns announced in part 2. Gun is always acting his ass off damn. This show will be stressful asf but the plot is pretty unique. Everyone’s reaction when Pond said Gun is playing his younger brother was so skdjjdj

•Hide & Sis: Janhae in a family murder drama niceee I got some Pretty Little Liars vibes in the start. If you’ve enjoyed PSIHY you’ll probably like this too

•The Dark Dice: Is this Jumanji and Squid Game mixed and made darker?? Prim definitely loves doing thriller shows but I beg of her to get out of that school uniform already💀 and Gemini finally got to put his hands on this genre. I’m not interested at all

I'm not very active rn and have no idea who would be likely to want to play, so I'm not going to tag anyone this time.

Vesperass and I were discussing how unlike all the Darklina kisses the lukewarm M*lina kiss in the teaser not only lacked chemistry, but Alina's passionate response. Jessie said they wanted to show Alina felt comfortable with Aleksander and bold enough to make the first move and match his fire. I didn't see any of that with Mal, who was clearly the aggressor while Alina seemed to going through the motions at best. Also, Aleks talked to Alina as an Equal via the tether and not a "symbol."

I mean its such a short clip that its difficult to tell but I didn't get the impression it was overly passionate and those darklina kisses are hard to beat. But to be fair we don't yet know the context or whether that's the start of the kiss or the end etc. To be honest my general reaction to it was kind of meh, it was there. Like most of their scenes I just found it was bland, it didn't make much of an impression on me. What did strike me the most about the m*lina kiss though is that nobody seems that excited by it, I mean people aren't even really talking about it, I think I've seen 4-5 posts of someone being excited for it. Maybe I am wrong but I feel like if that had been a darklina kiss then there would have been alot of chatter in the tags about it. This lack of reaction to the kiss is a problem considering M*lina are supposed to be the main romance for the show, people should be excited to see a kiss in the trailer but M*lina just aren't that popular. They were instead overshadowed by the new characters and the six of crows. There seems to be alot of people who are worried about how they are going to work the SoC into the SaB plot with many who'd rather they just make a Six of Crows spin off. I don't want to be too negative but honestly it does make me a little worried because if they mess up things with the Six of Crows and you've got M*lina, an unpopular ship, as a main romance then people may just stop watching and if people stop watching then the show might face the netflix axe.

I've also got the feeling that the showrunners are aware that M*lina isn't very popular and are going to try and make them more popular by throwing in a load of kisses and even intimate moments between them, using this idea that sex sells to generate some excitement around the pairing. I could be wrong, but if I am right then I am not sure if that strategy would work, if people just don't find the couple interesting I don't think having them kiss a bunch is going to change that.

I do think the reaction to this season will also depend on how they deal with Aleks' character and darklina tether bonds as, whether people like it or not, they are one of (if not the) most popular characters/ships in the show. If they do make Aleks this 2d villain with nonsensical motivations then that's going to turn people off too. As a side note I did see a couple of posts wondering if the kiss might actually be the scene where the darkling disguises himself and kisses Alina but in all honesty I hope not. That scene was such a mess and if they keep it then it'll be a complete contradiction to what they set up in season 1 of Aleks asking for and caring about consent. Personally I hope they just leave that scene out all together. I also hope that they don't cut back on the tether bond scenes and they do make it clear that it works when they both are thinking of the other and want to see each other. I am just hoping that they don't totally ruin everything.

But only time will tell I mean this is going off of 30 secs worth of footage, we could get a really great season with lots of great darklina moments, good character development and exciting six of crows moments, with everyone working seamlessly together.

Conclusion/potential hot take I've come to after seeing various RPGM game trailers over the months: game trailers should be 1 min 30 secs, or less AKA, anime OP time (I think there must be some science to why that timeframe seems to work as well as it does) any more than that, it seems I inevitably start looking at my proverbial watch there's a sense of aimlessness in a too-long trailer I've noticed this a lot where a game trailer shows like 5 different examples of the same type of gameplay when u really only need to show 1, maybe 2?  

ex: a character has a transformation gimmick, so the trailer proceeds to show this to you way too many times, padding the trailer to a wildly unnecessary extent

imho, a trailer ought to be short, punchy, confident--and of course, not showing too much get the game's overall vibe across in as little time as possible; leave the viewer wanting more!

Notes from research on showreels

I was looking up tips for creating a showreel - specifically one for sound - so compiled some of the stuff I found. The first source had a lot of SD tips as well, so I included them.

Here's all my notes and sources on what I read!

[mostly for game design but still useful cause doing design for games would be a shout]

Start with a Stereo bed for all generic "base" things (room tone, wind, general ambience) than add SFX in mono for stuff that makes noise - and automate that to camera position

Unique soundscape and ambience for each different camera position

(more for games) Little things matter when doing foley, beef it up - when cloth moves it should move, zippers, bodyfalls and impacts can always be bigger than you think. Each chara has different outfit, therefore have fun with deciding how that outfit sounds when it moves

Make stereo SFX mono : When things in distance sound too 'wide' due to source mats, and therefore doesn't sound like its positioned correctly, make things mono.

Related to above - if source sounds too stereo but needs to sound wide, convert source SFX to mono and add stereo reverb + widening plugins (Valhalla Supermassive and iZotope Ozone Imager are free recommendations)

For redesigns, replace what music is doing in the scene with cinematic SFX (i.e: for a horror scene, add "metal hits, drones, and risers to emphasise all of the key story beats")

Short and snappy showreels for the win - around a minute is his rec, with 15 sec clips and 5 sec filler if needed

don't start it with 5 second of silence - add a little sound effect to start/end titles!

Cut Ruthlessly - only your best work

Keep it short - 1 to 1.5 minutes in length - studios look at a lot of reels

Start and End well - begin and end the reel with your best work, specifically ending with your second best piece and starting with the first. But keep in mind that the rest should still be decent work

Think of showreel as an ad; which aren't usually more than 30 seconds long. You are selling something.

(More for animation) match your reel to the studio! for instance, don't put in Orc models if a studio does architecture visualization.

(more for animation) Indicate what you created - in student films often its group work, so be clear in what you contributed

(Animation but could be relevant to film portfolio) Show inner workings: Shot breakdowns, software used

Better to go for simple and well done than complex and mid

Should flow well - avoid choppy fade ins and outs

using existing footage of a film trailer, animation, etc and doing a redesign is alright for an entry level position if you have no other work - Make sure to credit properly

2 minutes is borderline too much. keep it around 1 minute with a snappy edit

once I get a rough idea of what to put into it, going into AE and/or Blender and mocking up some transitions and short filler to design to in order to transition from clip to clip could be a good idea

Label your responsibilities - make everything you did clear.

Add details to your credits - if your doing sound design, your doing audio editing as well most of the time. Foley Artist, Recording Engineer, VO record, ADR, mixing engineer, music editor, and music supervisor are all valid credits that you probably have done.

MHA CHP 348 (Toga’s Plotarmor is INSANE)

Again, Toga is trash, 100% trailer trash. A fuckin clown.

The whole premise of her backstory basically: She's fucking weird, people point it out, now she's a villain because people "just don't get it" or mom didn’t pat her on the back for sucking off a dead birbs wounds for it’s life juices.

Which is...underwhelming and typical, given with how fucked in the head she is, you'd think she was like a rape victim, or a Human trafficking survivor or something. That alone would be a better origin story.

And with how fast she is, you'd think she has formal training like ANY of the Robins that were taught by Batman. Seriously why tf is this little shit so goddamn proficient at assassination fight styles...borderline Ninjutsu.

And what's more infuriating, Deku has Smokescreen, Float, Fa Jin, Full Cowling, Black Whip, the whole fucking Math equation.

Why isn't he using any of that to put this little girl down, OBVIOUSLY her "love" basically makes her the Venom to his Spider-sense. (Dumb shit btw)

OK, great, that's established, now let's switch it up, just use Black whip to restrain this fuckin punk, have Ochako Gravitize her and move on. BOOM, done.

I read the My Villain Academia Arc, i know she’s deadly, but why are we pretending she really goes hard like that?

Toga is not even that dangerous to how Deku is now, between Full Cowling and Black whip it's not even a goddamn fight.

How is it people can say Deku would pimp slap Homelander but he's legit getting circles ran around him by this B lister? What?

Toga, & Mirko- Horikoshi really needs to let go of his Authors boner for these two garbage cans and just kill them off.

There's NO REASON why Ochako didn't bring in Toga during Jaku arc, and there's no reason why Deku, DEKU as he is now, didn't bring her down here and now.

NOW he speeds off so the girls get their little mini-boss fight, away from the from the fights that matter.

JAKU ARC ALL OVER againTYPICAL.

She escapes Ochako in Jaku arc, now Deku speeds off before he & the girls can just put down Toga, finally.

And this happened because Horikoshi knows Toga doesn’t stand a chance, if the characters are allowed to just put her down.

Yes Tomura needs to be stopped, but it would take all of 3min or 30 sec to just black whip her into submission.

Toga’s plotarmor is kicking ass.
