I’m going to paint you a picture of modern communication, and how it is fundamentally broken.

Let’s look at one friend. You chat pretty much everyday, and mostly talk to this person on twitter and discord, with occasional tumblr DMs. That’s three places you talk. But that’s actually not true, because you also have each other’s priv twitters and talk there as well. That’s four. Now account for, let’s say, one post reply per account per person, in addition to your DMs. That’s eight. But that’s ALSO not true, because not only do you talk in discord DMs with each other, but you’re in a friend group server as well! And you talk in those channels together! That’s nine.

This is one friend.

Now look around you. How many friends, how many mutuals are you in contact with. A few, a handful, a dozen, more? How many accounts per person do you have, how many places can you send each other posts, devolve into separate topics and conversations? How many people text you as well. Friends, family, coworkers? What do you do day to day around catching up, what IRL commitments will rip you away long enough to let the pile build again?

I can’t do it. I cannot live an actual life in the real world and balance this much interaction, it’s crushing. I reply to a friend’s post because I’m interested in the subject, I want to have a discussion! I WANT to talk about it with them, but I immediately kick myself for adding another conversation to the pile. Day by day, I ignore messages for hours on end and watch mountains pile around me, to reply en masse at the end of the night to let the cycle repeat. I wake up to six discord DMs and as I clear the third, the first replies back again.

We weren’t meant to have thirty simultaneous conversations. We weren’t. And you know in your bones that the number isn’t an exaggeration.

you honestly don't know why you said yes to the date with owen, he's probably only doing this to get into your pants. which a small part of you wouldn't actually mind, but you don't want to just be another girl in a long line of the ones he's slept with "just because". you know his reputation but neither of your friends have been out with him, so maybe it's slightly to brag about him having asked you instead of them.

there wasn't many options for date night on the island but you were just happy to be with him no matter what. he ended up taking you back to his place, starting a fire and cooking over the heat. it felt very him, he was totally in his element right now. and the food was delicious.

the sun was setting and watching it through the trees with him was so much better than you could ever imagine. and he was so much more charming than normal, his words laced with flirty undertones. you were having so much fun with him, you didn't want the night to end. then he nudged you off him and he stood up, holding his hand out for you to take. the fire had died down and he led you inside his bungalow. he left you standing in the middle of the joint bedroom/front room while he went over to the speaker on his coffee table. he pressed play and came back to you.

"may i have this dance?"

"of course.."

he was absolutely laying it on thick with you, but to be fair, you were letting him in so easily. he slow danced with you for a few songs, his eyes never leaving yours as he sang along to whatever was playing out the speakers. you stop moving for a second and he stumbles slightly when you stop, but still asks you if you're ok when he regains his balance. you don't say anything, you just lean up to kiss him and his hands immediately cup your face, pulling you upwards even more. considering his front room had his bed in it, you didn't have far to go before you felt the back of your knees hit his mattress. you broke the kiss only to lay down before he knelt down on the bed and hovered over you, searching for a sign in your eyes to kiss you again.

"i've uhm.. never really.. done this part.."

"you never fucked anyone?"

you shook your head. he just smirked.

"'s ok, baby.. i'll guide you through it.. you got nothin' to worry about.. ok?"

you nodded this time and he gave you a soft peck on your cheek. he adjusted your body a little, letting you wiggle out of your pants before he let your legs drape over his thighs. you immediately shoved your shirt off, discarding it on the floor near your pants. he brushed some stray hairs out of your face and noticed your eyes, looking at him hesitantly.

"you ok? need you to stay with me, ok?"

you nodded.

"need you to tell me.."

you nodded again and he leaned down to kiss you again. he was treating you so good, maybe a little too good. you suddenly feel a little afraid you'll get attached and he won't, remembering his reputation. but then he kisses your cheek, your jaw, your neck, your collarbone and you forget all about that. his only intention right now was getting you off and making sure you felt good. and that you did.

this is in response to the anon who said pudding should join the buggy pirates. This is a really cute idea and I love both of them so ofc they should be allies.

maybe after she's saved by sanji from BB pirates she's too overwhelmed/embarrassed to stay so she runs away and runs into crossguild who give her sanctuary after she tells them she can read poneglyphs? Because why would she go back to her family after they didnt even come for her? If mama is dead this a perfect chance to be free.

Croc would for sure be interested and Buggy would be one again awestruck at his luck for failing upwards bcus now an extremely useful ally falls into his lap?? Plus her 3rd eye is really flashy and if he just gave her a makeover she could be a main attraction in his circus hehehe

So real and true. In fact, you know why would she be a main attraction in his circus? Not because she has a third eye and people demonize her about it, but because everybody would find her extremely gorgeous. I would love something like that. Buggy seeing her third eye and loving it but also realizing she looks like the prettiest princess he's ever seen. She wouldn't like the idea of being exposed like that after hiding for so long. She's always been marginalized and laughed at for her third eye... Of course, she is rightfully scared of doing what Buggy says. But he keeps saying the circus is exactly for that. For outcasts that amaze people with their beauty and extraordinary traits. She could cook for them and also show up with him, not as an attraction, really, but as his star. She could even host the whole thing some nights if he's busy with Cross Guild stuff. And everyone finds her beautiful. Gorgeous. Perfect. Everybody loves her there and they're captivated by her. It's the first time people see her this way (second time. She kind of misses Sanji, but every time she mentions the strawhats Buggy gets irrationally emotional so she doesn't say anything). She isn't really a part of the Cross Guild, at least not officially. But she goes to most meetings and she's the one helping them out when it comes to history and poneglyphs. She ends up joining them more often because Mihawk and Crocodile grow fond of her. She's cute, but feral. She doesn't hesitate to make cruel plans and smart moves. She is actually really helpful and has good taste in music and wine, so those two end up taking care of her too. Imagine Pudding as their princess. She's like their daughter, more or less. They protect her to a worrisome extent. A lot of men come in there to ask her for her hand, and they, uh, never usually go back home in one piece. Buggy and her talk shit about Shanks and Sanji, but it's obvious they're still in love and never really over them. It's a sweet bond, really, the one she has with these three. Buggy makes people build her a whole, giant kitchen on the island only for her and she always makes the sweetest and most perfect of dishes ever. They adore her and she actually ends up loving them back a lot!
