i was exceptionally bad at lying , it had never been one of my strong suits. still , i ducked my head pointedly to avoid my knowing smile , slipping into bilbo's house , my arms full of my freshly baked treats , striding quickly through the halls. i knew the place well , i'd been bilbo's grumbly friend for years , naut for effort. i was a tad more outgoing than him , which reserved a lot of our friendly chats either indoors at his place , or mine. mine was situated much lower to the ground in the shire ; though i didn't mind the casual stroll up to his. i paused , blinking around at the chaos strewn about his usually tidy home , my brows inching toward my curly hairline.
