Finally caught up with backlog! And now I will be off dying over writing.
1. we were born to make history by hamstergyu || Rated T, 10.7k (WIP)
Yuuri strives for a life of peace. Viktor strives to fuck it all up.
Alternatively: The Yuri!!! On Ice superhero AU
Really nice fic. While the summary says superhero au, it’s really a mash of multiple aus that the author calls a mess at the bottom, but I think is all well-put together into a fun read. I really like Victor’s character in this, in how his reputation and many obligations weigh down on him. Yuuri’s character intrigues me as well, and his POV feels well-done. Definitely something to give a try.
2. Let's Go to Perfect Places by eternalsunshine13 || Rated M, 8.1k (WIP)
In his mind, Victor had pictured Yuuri in a bespoke suit, cigar in one hand, martini in the other, made with the finest gin and vermouth, a squeeze of lemon and the tears of his readers.
--
Famed author Yuuri Katsuki’s bestselling Ice Prince trilogy took the world by storm. But that was over five years ago. He hasn’t written a word since.
Victor Nikiforov might have had something to do with that. Katsuki’s biggest fan, he was unsatisfied with the way the series ended. Under a pseudonym, he published a fic with an alternate ending that spread like wildfire, with many fans saying it was better than the original. But Victor never expected Yuuri to actually respond online, sparking a war that ripped the fandom apart.
Now working as a temp in NYC five years later, Victor is sent to the residence of a reclusive author with a bad case of writer's block…
A story off to a bitter start. Normally aus that involve the characters being part of fandom aren’t really my thing, but the really sad setup has my attention already. We can all imagine how badly Victor and Yuuri are affected by what’s described in the summary, and curiousity at how this will resolve has me subscribed to it. Victor’s character in this is quite different than canon due to the nature of the au, and it fits.
3. Stay by so_shhy || Rated T, 12.5k
If Victor had listed important facts about himself, he’d have started with things like, ‘bestselling fantasy author,’ ‘great hair,’ ‘extrovert,’ ‘dog lover,’ and (if nobody else was listening) ‘lonely’.
Honestly, ‘a little bit psychic’ would have come pretty low down the list, even if he’d dreamed of actually telling anyone.
Or: the one where Victor meets the ghost of a poodle.
Cute with a side of “hey if Vicchan’s death hurt you this will too because it haunts this entire story”. The story is a little bit psychic, several parts lovely, and overall a sweet read. While it starts off on a sad note, it quickly develops as Victor and Yuuri’s relationship does, and is very tightly written. The writing style was super enjoyable, too. One of my fave magical realism stories (if this fits that genre).
4. Let Me Sail Across the Sea for There is Never One Who Loved You More Than Me by tothebatcave53 || Rated T, 7.8k
Victor has always loved the ocean, he is drawn to it's beauty and it's power. He sets out, a simple day in a simple boat with a simple desire to just exist in peace out in the ocean. When Victor wakes it is to the turmoil of the waves, desperate to sink him and his tiny boat into it's murky depths. It is only the most beautiful hallucination that keeps Victor sane in what he assumes are his last moments.
Short and sweet mermaid story! A bit of a different first meeting than usual mermaid stories, and just overall a really sweet thing.
5. Of Pastries and Pine Trees by KuroRiya || Rated T, 7.9k
As winter draws near and food grows scarce, Yuuri finds himself wandering too close to human paths in search of a meal. The passing human he encounters instead, all flowing capes and laden with a tantalizing basket of sweets, proves to be far more than he was looking for. But perhaps he was mistaken what exactly he needed to survive the winter.
A wolf au with no a/b/o things! It’s a really nice retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with several different twists to keep it interesting and new to the reader. It was fun to read, a little confusing at first, but very cute and very fun!
