11. what do you consider to be romance

good fucking question. as a girlie with no fucking idea if i was ever in love and knows very little of where i fit on the arospec except i'm there Somewhere. i'm also deeply enthusiastic about romance. i guess it's the feeling of it, even if that's a highly unsatisfactory answer, whimsical as it is. it's very jittery.

hmmmmmm quite a few i think? but the first i thought about was i wanna get better by bleachers. it's so fucking raw in an optimistic way as in yeah i was just miserable for years but i can break free of the patterns and just fucking go off like a rocket. also this part (lives in my heart)

and there are others too!! like, neither of those occupies a symbolic hugE The Favorite Song fixed title but i find myself thinking of them quite a lot when i'm alone doing things

- that part of under pressure when the bridge (god i love song bridges, they're almost always my favorite part!!) when they say cause love's such an old fashioned word and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night and love dares you to chance our way of caring about ourselves. i fucking felt that

- ivy and the 1 by taylor swift because of two very different fics i'm reading and subsequently obsessing with. when she said i long to know the fatal flaw that makes you long to be magnificently cursed oh fuck i was Not Well. also not the first time i obsessed with ivy projecting on something, i did plan an (almost) entire victorian au out of it in my good old clowntown days

my good beloved rbd succes tras de mi was maybe one of my first favorite songs from when i first heard the dubbed version if it as a particularly chaotic six year old and has recently come back to my attention so have this absolutely fucking slapping lyrics, and then of course, the instrumental is even better, which is to say it fits the sentiment of the lyrics perfectly

ser o parecer is definitely my go-to rbd song tbh sajdhsajdh idk what it is about it i just love it so much?? but also empezar desde cero (the album as a whole) has a special place in my heart bc it's the album that got me into them. it's kinda funny tho bc like rebelde was SUPER popular here in brazil but i wasn't allowed to watch it so i only got into rbd super late and they disbanded just a few months after i started listening to their songs 😭 rip

Thoughts on the Rebelde series

🚨🚨🚨 SPOILERS AHEAD 🚨🚨🚨

First thing first, I’m a fan of RBD and the og series so i wasn’t too exited for this new series, to be honest I wasn’t expecting much and my plans where to just do a hate watch and that’s it BUT my opinion changed and let me tell you why with some pros an cons

Pros

I literally was shocked when I saw Pilar on my screen in the first episode, was not a fan of her in the og rebelde but i was happy to see her 

Celina my beloved how amazing you are

The trama was good at first I liked that they didn’t do a new universe inspire by the og series and didn’t erased RBD, like they did some references in a few episodes and my nostalgic self was happy 

Dixon and Andi fav characters 

Dixon was cute and was very sweet with MJ, really loved his accent to the point that when he was on my screen i was hoping for him to talk a lot and I like that he was a good friend and was trying to make peace when the others where fighting, he has king energy and I love him

Andi i love how she was herself from the start and that she was a gay mess everytime Emilia was near, really loved how careful she was with Emilia when she told her that she hasn’t been with other girl, we support  queen Andi here 

Luka’s character was good and i liked how he was slowly realizing that he did care about the band and the way he changed his attitude once he was told that Esteban was his brother

The new set’s are cool wish we could’ve seen more of the school 

The original song and covers where good and Dixon’s rap was my fave

The uniforms look really cool and they way they styled them was good to watch, special mention to Dixon’s skirts and Lukas outfits

I like how MJ changed in every episode like you could see from the first episode that she was kind of shy and that everything was so new to her and seeing her be free and happy with herself at the end was cool

Cons

The lodge trama, I like it but I think they could have done more yk, like just 8 episodes wasn’t enough, I remember in the og series that the lodge was a big deal for a lot of episodes and it was predictable that Sebas was the leader but bonus points for the secretary being part of it, really took me by surprise 

Marcelo being Esteban’s dad was a bit predictable they set it up good but I knew like two episodes before Esteban’s mom said it  

I was so sure that one of the RBD members would make a cameo but 🤡🤡🤡 I was at the edge when MJ saw Roberta’s clothes thinking that Dulce Maria would appear behind her 

I hated that netflix did the sex scenes but you know it’s netflix and they love to sexualize teenagers so 

The songs, please if they’re gonna use the songs please just use them in the background or something like in Mamma Mia here we go again when they used chiquitita in one scene but it was just the instrumental (idk if it was chiquitita) but please don’t try and do new versions, the og’s are good and should not be touch, I get that they want another generation of fans but pls make original music like RBD did with Rebelde way if you know what i mean 

Now with the character’s, Esteban and Jana where ok but i wish they didn’t make them a couple so soon, and bc of that I couldn’t enjoy them much

MJ was great in the first few episode’s but with Sebas manipulating her to make her think that Jana was pushing her to be her shadow ruined her for me a bit, I understand why she did that in the final episode but at the same time I didn’t like it so I hope in the second season they fix it, I love her and Dixon together tbh. 

I think this is all i have to say for now, I liked the series and it was more than I expected so kudos to netflix for making me change my opinion on this new idea and please remember this is my opinion and that I’m judging based on my nostalgia, I think it was great and that they will have a bunch of new fans if they keep it interesting enough in the future maybe I’ll do a rewatch or something
