Random thoughts I had during my fifth viewing of the cinematic masterpiece "Cocktail" (1988)

Well... more like my 5 2/3 viewing bc I got like 2/3 through it and then my mom was like "why didn't you tell me you were gonna watch it, I would have wanted to watch it too" so I lied about how far I was through it "there's still a lot left we can start it over" and I watched the same movie almost twice in a row in the span of a few hours :)

"Wild Again" by Starship is one of the only good songs tbh, although "Addicted to Love" and "When Will I Be Loved" are also pretty alright. But the soundtrack is lowkey horrendous imo

I stand by my previous standalone post- no one has ever been that excited to get on a fkin Greyhound bus

!!!! Yesss it's Alphys time, babey

First Impression: Ah, I think my first reaction was, in a word, delighted! When first getting into Undertale, I was myself very much a socially awkward weeb who called themselves trash often in a semi joking way, and so Alphys felt like someone I could relate to! I remember thinking, way back when, that she must have been Toby's (though I didn't know his name at this point) way of putting the fans into the game. That's how much I identified with her. I think @/a-conveniently-shaped-lamp said this too, but I trusted her enough that I actually did not believe Mettaton when he told me she had been lying to us.

Impression Now: My appreciation for her has only grown and developed!! She is my poor little meow meow 😌. In all seriousness, I think she is very realistically flawed, and so so strange and weird in the best of ways, and wonderfully passionate about the things she holds dear :).

Idea For A Story: I would really love to read or write about the time between when she first discovered anime and her meeting and becoming close with Metta! I just think maybe anime started out as a coping mechanism, a way of escapism, and over time evolved into a genuine appreciation that she wanted to share with someone, and I am a sucker for character study of any kind.

Unpopular Opinion: I am, truthfully speaking, not aware enough of the general perception of her to know what is 'popular' or 'unpopular.' But personally, I think she is more feelings-savvy than Undyne, and perhaps more used to vulnerability than her also, and so probably takes the reins more in that area of their relationship past the initial getting together.

Favorite Moment: Favorite positive moment? When Mettaton asks who her crush is and your answer is right no matter what! Always makes me happy. She is a poly queen 😤 and also just has a healthy appreciation for people who arent her and the potential of the world around her. Moment that makes me Feel Shit? After a neutral run when on the phone, queen Alphys ending, where she says "I should have killed you when I had the chance." Makes my ribs ache just to think about it. Somehow, even the King Papyrus ending doesn't make me feel so guilty, or so... pained. Coming from a character like her, that sentiment really hits.

Favorite relationship: Ngl i LOVE her and Asgore being friends, and i think it is something that often gets overlooked or underappreciated in fanon. They are both lonely, kindhearted people with their own secrets and regrets, and they take solace in each others company.

Favorite Headcanon: mentioned earlier in this post but !!! Poly Alphys !!! Any version, but personally i rly like the idea of her and Undyne in an open relationship sexual-wise,and monogamous romantically. Also, I tjink she is ABSOLUTELY a gamer girl. Has the oink cat ear headphones and everything 🥰
