There were several taxes in India before the implementation of the GST. We had EXCISE TAX, service tax, customs tax, VAT (Value Added Tax), CST (Central Sales Tax), OCTROI, and a slew of additional taxes. So, to simplify all of the tax complexities, our government devised GST. On July 1, 2017, India's Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi Ji, unveiled the ONE NATION ONE TAX policy known as the Goods and Services Tax.
Our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi Ji, has stated that GST will bring One Nation, One Tax, however, you must have seen this on any of your restaurant bills, mart bills, or any other bill. There are two or three taxes mentioned: the CGST tax, the SGST tax, and the IGST tax. So, does it adhere to the One Nation, One Tax policy? Yes, there are several components of GST, which include CGST, SGST, IGST, and UT- GST.
CGST is for Central Goods and Services Tax, SGST stands for State Goods and Services Tax, IGST stands for Integrated Goods and Services Tax, and UT- GST stands for Union Territory Goods and Services Tax.

The authorized signatory shall sign the form. The LUT form can be submitted using the Digital Signature Certificate of the authorized signatory or through the EVC that will be sent to the registered mobile number or email ID. Once the LUT form is submitted, ARN will be generated and sent to the email and mobile number of the taxpayer. Click on the ‘Download’ button to save the acknowledgement.

The danger of selective citizenship
I haven't been shy about using Tumblr to espouse my political believe. And events of the last week have prompted me to comment on the current blockade between Canada and the US, and how it’s now affecting thousands of businesses and families on both side of the border. There are signs that it is spreading into Europe and the United States.
So here for your consideration is a lesson in selective citizenship.

Let’s discuss the Canadian truck drivers protesting the COVID19 vaccination laws. To illustrate my point, let’s focus on one driver – we’ll call him Ed - and look at his life and what led up to his truck blocking the key trade link between the US and Canada.
Ed was born in a Canadian hospital and there is a permanent certificate of his birth. He didn’t have much say over that documentation, but his parents thought it best to comply with local laws.
Ed was enrolled in Canadian public school at age 6. To enter school, he’s required to get vaccinated for polio, smallpox, whooping cough and a dozen more life-threatening diseases. Why? Because the government has decided it’s in the public interest him to comply.
Teenage Ed gets his first car. He gets a driver’s license, tags for his car, gets auto insurance. Even wears a seat belt. Why? Because the government has decided it’s in the public interest for him to comply. And so he does.
Ed gets married and secures a marriage license. When he goes to a department store to buy a new shirt or some such, he pays GST or VAT tax on top of the retail price. He buys a house and pays property taxes. He obeys local zoning ordinances. Why? Because the government has decided it’s in the public interest to comply. And so he does.
Ed decides to become a truck driver. He gets studies for and gets his CDL. He secures a job and fills out all the paperwork including citizenship and taxation status. Why? Because the govt. blah blah. And so he does.
As a good truck driver, Ed observes all the laws of the road including load limits, road logs, customs documents driving between the US and Canada. Why? Yeah, you know. And Ed buys into it.
Ed votes. Maybe writes letters to the editor of the local paper. Maybe participates in protests or marches for his cause. Why? Because the government has decided it’s in the public interest to allow him to participate.
So far, so good. Ed is a good, patriotic and engaged citizen. He complies with governmental rules and regulations for the sake of his community. He has freedom to express his views. And maybe he tries to influence change in positive ways.
And then life as we all know it changed.
A worldwide pandemic ravages almost every country on the planet. Entire economies shut down. Some politicians point fingers instead of making courageous decisions that delay or dissuade a rational response. I would call that involuntary homicide – and there should be international law trials on this subject. But I digress.
As of this day, 5,800,000 people have died from the effects of COVID19 worldwide. Over 900,000 from the United States alone. Health experts tell us these number are on the low side. The true effects of this once-in-a-lifetime scourge us likely 2x or maybe even higher.
Every medical expert on the planet was summoned in early 2020 to look for both cures and treatments of this affliction, and vaccines to prevent the disease.  This worldwide consortium of the greatest minds working on the virus come down with ideas to stop the spread. Quarantine. Social distancing. Mask up.  Even these simple measures became targets for politicians. How many people died needlessly because of the opposition to these commonsense measures will never be known.
And then a miracle happens. Within a few months of the pandemic, pharmaceutical companies come up with not one but three potential vaccines to arrest this plague. By the spring of 2021, every Canadian is given the chance to be vaccinated – for free. As of this day, over 87% of Canadians have taken advantage of this potentially life-saving medication.
But back to Ed. He hasn’t been vaccinated. Why? It could be a range of reasons. Perhaps he’s watching right-wing news reports and seduced by the Trump savants. Perhaps his Facebook feed is full of snake oil salesmen pushing faux cures and ideas. Worse still – he probably listens to the Joe Rogan podcast.
Despite that much of the local community accept and promote the overwhelming success of the vaccines to prevent and save millions of lives from COVID19, Ed thinks he knows better. Ed rejects the need for a vaccine.
And after complying with 100s of other rule, laws and regulations as decreed by his local, state and national government, Ed decides this one restriction – that you must be vaccinated to go from the US and Canada – is unfair.
In other words: Selective citizenship.
So lets go back in time. Did Ed think the Polio vaccine was a bad idea? How about the CDL? Maybe the marriage license? No, it’s just this one thing he opposes.
OK, Ed. You be you. If you think you know better than 1000s of scientists that have worked on this virus for the last 24 months, you go boy! Don’t get the jab. You’re the smartest man on the planet – hooray! It’s within your rights to choose to overlook that the world is round, water is wet and the vaccinations work.
But you have no right to interfere with the life, liberty and freedom of your fellow citizens. Park your 18 Wheeler on the side of the road, festoon it with “Liberty” banners and have your say. And get out of the way of civilization and the economy.
Ed and his conspiracy theory idiot friends have no right to cripple Canadian and American companies who depend on free trade between countries. “A nation, as a society, forms a moral person, and every member of it is personally responsible for his society.”
I don’t like to pay taxes. I hate renewing my drivers license. And sales taxes are just crazy.
But I realize the importance that all of these laws, rules, and regulations create in the way of a well-functioning civilization.
