i really don't know how to feel about fics/aus where it turns out that sj's treatment of lbh is his own fault because he didn't speak up about issues with other disciples, genuinely misbehaved etc and also later (as bingge) lied about how much he actually got punished and in truth it wasn't any more than any other disciple, and that sj didn't know about the fake manual, when all of this is explicitly against canon.

yqy adresses this when sy wakes up, telling sqq to stop being so mean to lbh. in the sj extra, he himself says that lbh should have died a long time ago bleeding from the seven apertures due to the fake manual. sy says that pidw explicitly states that lbh was punished WAAAY more than any other disciple, and in those conditions obviously noone would tell their teacher about being bullied??

idk i understand altering canon for the sake of telling a story but... somehow it feels like a disservice to sj's character to ignore canon and water him down for the sake of making his redemption easier. and villifying lbh, which is what these fics inevitably end up doing, is also messed up - he was around 11 when he joined cqm. that's a CHILD. no matter how you look at it, sqq's "treatment" of lbh is neglect at best, horrible abuse at worst, and in modern times it would put him in jail faster than you could blink. giving him a realistic redemption arc is difficult, if not impossible, but if you truly love him with all his flaws and faults, isn't it worth the effort?

but all of that is surface level.

when suguru comes home, after a day full of sweet-talking princesses and speaking to the leaders of a neighbourhood kingdom — he slumps down on his bed and rots. depression style. lets out the most weary, disgruntled groan you’ve ever heard, and curls up like a sad shrimp. pouts and whines and mentally debates if he should ask one of the maids for a snack or let the hunger claim him. he’s basically just an introvert with a horrendous social battery and no choice but to act like a perfect prince every day. he’s so tired of it. he just wants to sleep in and drink tea and practice playing the harp :((( poor baby.

i’m thinking reader is his newly-appointed maid. and you’re obviously a little intimidated by him, because how couldn’t you be? but after a while, after spending so much time with him, you inevitably realize that he’s… kind of a loser. a little soggy. seeing how quickly he goes from ☺️ to 😞 gives you whiplash. and he gets very attached to you!!! he likes it when you coddle him a bit…. most of his maids are way older, but you’re just about his age. and he’s a little starved of normal interactions with friends. so he starts requesting your ”help” (it’s really just your company, he’s not as spoiled as you’d think) more than anyone else.

basically !!!! he’s a sad little soggy prince :33 lots of gap moe . on the outside he’s smiling, on the inside he’s daydreaming about a missile dropping down and setting the kingdom on fire. he is hanging on by a Thread. please vote for him in the next royal election.

People will point blank look at an interesting complex female character and go "can somebody kill off that disgusting vile bitch already?" then the same people will be like "ohmygod poor babyboy who never did anything wrong in his life 🥺" when looking at a fucked up male character. Armand literally caters to his every need, cleans up after him and all. Louis never even doubts for a second that Armand won't do something if he askes. It's really really noticeable in s2e5 but it happens everywhere

so zenith self-punishes a lot and i was very interested in the scar on his arm and how he got that - i remember reading about him wanting to be rid of what he perceived as a sickness, if that was right? (my memory is so bad i will be so pleased if i got that right)

so accordingly what was child zenith like, i am so curious

Yeah so mr the Silver is left handed and that was his knife arm. When he was a kid he was pretty antisocial and he still is, a quiet kid who wanted to be left alone for the most part. He got adopted by a family of Dwarves when he was real young. He never felt like he fit in but he finally HAD something of his own so he was fiercely protective over them. So when he gradually felt his knife arm twitching at the thought of hurting them he was very resistant to the idea.

When it got real bad he tried cutting it off, he was like "this urge isn't me and its making my hand move on its own the urge must be there" so he tried to cut it off. Instead he just hurt himself real bad and couldn't use his dominant arm for a long time. When he killed his family he didn't use a knife or blade at all, in fact he didn't even use his hands like he was so scared he would. Instead he ripped into them with his teeth! He ate his family (which is why he likes roasted dwarf so much reminds him of them its the only sentimentality he allows himself)

Uh yeah he also since he was injured for so long cus he couldn't find a cleric to help he just sorta learned how to do stuff with his other hand in the meantime which is why he's a dual wielder now. Cus he learned to use both out of necessity
