I have officially edited and updated my DP fic recommendation document

I've so far only used it for friends but now I'm wondering if any of you guys would be interested...

#lots of people make rec lists and i sorta feel like i have a lot of the same ones that everyone always does #but also that could just be the curse of knowledge where im like “yeah ofc everyone knows about X Fic!!!”#when in fact maybe they do not :wheeze:#anyway. just wanna gauge if anyone would want it #idk how often ill update the list #i have a shit ton of DP fics on my To Read/Bookmarks and if i haven't read at leaat enough to make a judgment #i dont put it on the rec list #I've been mostly focused on working on getting through my unread book collection at home rather than fics atm BUT #the list is both a way for me to keep track of my fave fics and also when friends outside the phandom wanted a rec i could ask what #flavor of thing they wanna read and then pick something or send them the doc so they could pick #Everytime I work on the list I start thinking so hard about fics I read years ago or on FFnet and I can't remember the names #Or more than a few scenes....#Rip the real ones from back in the day #I'll at some point be making a new pinned post and so if people do want this I'll post it and then link it in my pinned post #so it's easy to find #danny phantom fanfiction #Danny Phantom fanfic recs

#monthly reading list #keeping the list pretty low-key #i didn't have any month-specific cravings this time #except 'romance' and 'fantasy' which are both too broad to count as specific goals #found the princess and curdie at the library #and realized it could count for the type of cute fairy tale with a touch of romance i was looking for #once lent hits i'm going to go to town on the books i own #i've got a few that have become lent traditions (i am almost definitely going to read stradling's 'the heir and the spare' this month)#but i also want to read some of the new ones that linger unread on my shelves

finished reading another book for this year 🥳

#ok so this is a cause for celebration BC i used to read books daily BEFORE my final year of uni #idk if it was the pandem depression (it is) or due to reading too many journalistic articles for my essays that i had a real reading block #for years!!!!#it made reading an actual become a chore for me #unless i was reading an online novel (couldnt even read fics 😭)#and irl things keep happening one after another that took so much of my personal time that i couldnt even start a book #but as usual i kept buying more books lol i now have an excel file that lists all of my unread books and the number is above 80 #anyway i made my 2024 reading goal to be 28 so that it’ll match my age 🙂‍↔️#i even bought a kindle for convenience #i really love my kindle and thinking of getting one of those stand holder things #also applied 2 weeks off from work in july to have some time for myself before starting uni (masters) again #so hopefully i’ll be able to read more and write more

i gotta get a library card again, i just found out recently that my local library has a lot of theory and sociology

#just checked and they have chernyshevsky i might look into that #god i have like 15 half read books and 10 unread pdfs but lets get even more books #im proud of myself cause i finished some recently #my to read list is already too long #at least libraries have deadlines that motivates me to read faster

i'm making a list of things i want to do when this semester is over... i'm basically daydreaming about my hobbies lmao

#my summer list includes: trying out painting #joining some ngo as a volunteer. this or joining a party 🤡 depends on how pissed at our government i'll be at that stage #increasing japanese study time #finding a cool place for saturday breakfasts #or at least a nice bakery #and reading!!! i have 20 unread books on my shelf rn.....#watching dramas :) as soon as my finals finish i'm going to bingewatch at least 3 #i can't wait for summer #increased pay + free weekends? i'm going to treat myself #god knows i deserve it #and i want to make so many gifsets #even though i'm so anxious and stressed rn i feel so creative. i can't wait for my finals to end #this summer will be good to me. i'm not even manifesting i FEEL it ok #k.txt

I have missed the vast majority of the "cozy horror" discourse and like, I'm fine with that because I don't really care all that much about publishing labels and subgenres. But like, I do believe in only using the broad labels if it applies. A book is not Romance (the genre) if it does not have a happily ever after/happily for now. A book is not Horror if it is not trying to be horrifying. Romantic and horrific plots and elements can be part of any story and any genre, but elements do not a genre make.

Anyways, disclaimer done, the point of this post is that as someone whose main genre is fantasy, I love reading about ghosts in non-horror stories. Give me more fucked up creatures and musings on personhood please.

#Like when I do read/listen to horror it's because something in the premise got my attention and that premise is usually identity or magic.#Read a well-praised blog post on the kerfuffle and like.... sounds like this person knows much more than I.#But a single line about how people became anti ''grimdark'' had me thinking about how even though I read the first ASOIAF book and I got #book 2 from the library but returned it unread... there's never been a pitch for that series that got me interested besides ''extremely #popular fantasy series'' and none of the discussion or analysis or spoilers I've seen have piqued my interest either.#Meanwhile I'm not a horror or a thriller person but I will venture into some horrors because they sound interesting.#I love Alice Isn't Dead. I Am In Eskew and the Silt Verses are on my to-listen list. I support Hi Nay on Patreon (although I am behind).#I haven't listened to enough Hello from the Hallowoods to decide if I think it's horror or not yet. i do like going to college (at least for now lol) but the way it has rewired some of my thought processes is actually very jarring

#i usually have a never ending list of work for every class. i can reach 2am and still not have finished them all #today though i finished all i had planned to finish quite early #and my thoughts were: wow i finished early. i guess i could go to sleep but i'm not feeling sleepy yet?? what do i do now??#like. i forgot i have. actual hobbies. interests outside of uni. stuff i could do #you know. read. write. draw. watch tv or movies #like. girl you have an entire row of unread books you could start on (leisure ones not class reading)#and when i remembered it just kinda blew my mind like. wdym i forgot i can literally partake on leisurely activities #oh my god this semester is consuming me. i need to breathe a little. wtf #sara talks nonsense #college
