WOW. Yes, you're spot on, my friend! I was a little careful with how closely I referenced The Beatles cuz I know their copyright team is insane (out of their hands...). The song is random, but the album cover is deliberate! Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is perfect to imagine though heheh. (One of my favorite songs, too!) There's another musical reference later on:

Real talk, ya think Rubber Soul knew about the cherry thing because he bore witness to it from fleshbud Kakyoin?

It’s quite possible, but it raises questions about when Rubber Soul started working for Dio, as well as where Kakyoin was prior to the events of Stardust Crusaders (I personally assume he returned to Japan when his family’s Egypt trip ended and became a sleeper agent).

I think that Dio (or someone who works under him) gave their hires a “file” on the crusaders, maybe including pictures, basic stand information, etc.. If not, they’d get a basic description and have to do their own research, but Dio’s (Jonathan’s) stand would certainly make it easy enough to get photographs.

Whatever method he used for research would be quite detailed because Rubber Soul was even able to replicate Hierophant Green. He may also have been following the group and gathering information on them prior to his arc. His physical image of Kakyoin was accurate enough to not rouse suspicion with the outwards appearance alone. Some of that can probably be put down to “Stand magic” though.

As for the cherries… I think Rubber Soul probably just saw Kakyoin’s earrings and made some assumptions. It’s also very possible that he saw him “eating” cherries at some other point (Fleshbud or not) The manner which they eat them is subtly different, though not observing proper rero rero technique is far from the least accurate thing about his disguise…

Alternatively, you could be right and Rubber Soul’s suspiciously rude demeanor could be based upon the way Kakyoin acted under the influence of the flesh bud. I think of it as coincidence purely because it adds to the hilarity value, considering the utter lack of self awareness on Kakyoin’s part at the end of the episode/arc.
