This may be a stupid question but what is/was tumblr pagination?

tumblr has 2 modes: “endless scroll”, which you were probably using, and paged, which splits up posts into pages which you can then categorise chronologically. this system used to run with pagination; by typing in custom page numbers (varying slightly with the date scheme, which on the UX side was a string of numbers attached to the URL based on the time and date you went past the first page) you could “time travel” on your dash, or your likes page, etc to read old posts, several years old even! when the change went through i had about 12 tabs open of various old page no. from earlier this year/late last year...

i used this extensively for what i found to be the fastest blog running scheme(without sacrificing my tagging scheme) by first sorting all my chosen posts by liking the post, then using an xkit tag plugin(one-click postage) that lets me queue and tag posts without leaving the likes page. that way you can categorise and keep a bookmark for where you left off when trying to reblog hundreds or thousands of posts over time while reliably not missing any of them. i could eg. reliably go to page 400 of my likes to get stuff from 9-10 months ago(numbers obviously varying with however much content i’d gone through), and by the time i got tired on page 380 , i could bookmark it and go back to it next week. i  also use it for regular dash browsing alongside many other tumblr users, as it helps the site run a lot faster by only loading ~10 posts at a time and not gobbling your comp memory

except you can’t now ): . while pages technically exist, you can no longer type in custom page numbers or bookmark them to return to later. the “pagination” back-end system that allowed users to type in custom pages to access specific dates no longer works.

What happened to your Yakuza side blog? I was checking for Majima models to make haha funny meme, but I realized it's been dead for a year now. I understand if you don't want to answer this question, I'm just genuinely curious.

Oh nothing specific (other than that time I spent 2 weeks trying to port y0 majima to MMD before realising it would never work due to texture limitations) i’m just really bad at judging the exact amount of time things take. for instance last month i finished playing a game i started in the year 2000

but yeah i occasionally get questions about this(usually on other platforms) from people hunting for models, and its sad that nobody else has apparently picked up the slack in my absence, def go look for the yakuza modding discord, those folks are super cool
