Love is not just feeling the butterflies. It is feeling both the butterflies and the pain.
Yet you still embrace the person’s flaws and you remain.
That’s what love is.

#mydefinition 💞 _____________________________________________ #bedifferent #makethedifference #latouffance #naturalchixs #cwkgirls #healthy_hair_journey #kinkychicks #berrycurly #routinecapillaire #cheveuxnaturels #metisse #latouffance #cheveuxfrisés #naturalhair #afrohair #bignaturalhair #hncurls

Ableism is so much more than just lack of physical access in society. Ableism is more about how non disabled people have attempted to help people with various disabilities for years without understanding their identities, or social and emotional realities. It is society assuming that people with disabilities do not have the skill set to live, love, speak, think, communicate, believe, change or have the resources to learn on their own,  or  live in community with their peers. It´s oppression. It´s about being patronizing, and many times dehumanizing the person  with a disability to make non disabled people feel better (and privileged) about their own lives. It ain´t got shit to do with actually helping folks with disabilities.

This is my definition of winning. I have always and will always believe that it is 100% possible for all of us to win together. As long as you choose to work with and believe in each other, there's NO REASON for anyone to be left behind.
I am greatly looking forward to the next chapter in my life, creating new businesses, building new friendships, and continuing to help those who believe in me succeed together. 👊

I.M Well
Now teachers, we have talked a lot about how these technological tools can help our students as well as ourselves academically, but we have not addressed the ways that technological tools can assist in managing our mental well-being and mindfulness. This next tool that I will be introducing, will help our students with exactly that. This next technological tool, is called…I.M Well! I.M Well, is short for integrated wellness and it is an application used exclusively for student and teacher wellness. This technological tool integrates the various campus and community services for students by addressing stigmas around Mental Health and Wellness. Although this application is catered towards users ages 12 and up, I think that it is a great technological tool that reminds our students that they need to be mindful of their Mental Health.
A Few Strengths of the Tool:
This technological tool is completely free for download, and it has a large spectrum of resources that are available for its users to use. The tool is also easy to both navigate and download. The user just has to create a quick profile and answer a few questions regarding their mental health and they are free to use the app as they wish. One really great component of the tool is the Healthy Reminders, the user can choose which Health Reminders they would like to include in their daily routines and the tool will remind that user to engage in those reminders. For instance, there are reminders that pertain to drinking water, to exercise, to take their medication (if needed) etc. It is a really great tool as it insists that its users practice their mindfulness. Another great component of this application is the track my mood tool. This aspect of the I.M Well tool is great because the user can track the changes in their mood and why it is they were feeling that emotion at that particular time. This is a great component of the tool because it allows the user to track consistencies in their moods and the reasons behind them. This can encourage the student to avoid certain circumstances or interactions that they know will decrease their mood and mental well-being. One final strength of this technological tool is the live chat option within the app. If a student is feeling particularly bad on any given occasion, they can enter the live chat option of the tool and chat with a counselor about how they are feeling. This becomes useful especially when the student is not comfortable addressing their emotions with their parents, they are given support by a professional who is trained to assist students who are dealing with mental health issues.
Weaknesses
While this tool has a lot of strengths to it, there are a few weaknesses that I would like to point out to all of you tekky teachers out there! This tool while great for student resources, is only available to those participating high schools and universities. So, the school has to buy into the tool in order for their students to use it. This is unfortunate as there are not many participating schools, making it inaccessible for a lot of students. Another weakness of the tool is the #MyDefinition component. #MyDefinition is a platform within the tool that allows students to share their experiences with mental health. While this is a great platform in theory, when you look further into this portion of the tool there are no current experiences being shared within the platform. It would be a great aspect for students to engage in as they would be able to see that they are not the only ones experiences mental health concerns, but unfortunately, because this tool is not explored and promoted by schools, no student experiences exist. Finally, the last weakness of this technological tool is the upcoming events component. When I explored this aspect of the tool to see what upcoming mental health events were happening in my institution, there was nothing there. This is rather unfortunate as it would benefit students to see that there are events that could be useful resources for them, but they are not made aware of them through the tool.
What Could be Improved?
One of the things that I would love to see improved in this tool would be the #MyDefinition. I think that representation is an important concept, especially for students. When they can see other student’s experiencing similar mental health issues as them, it is more likely that they will feel less isolated. I would like to see the engagement increase with this component of the tool as I think it would be a great way for students to understand and accept their mental health experiences. Another concept that I would like to see improved within the I.M Well tool, is an updated Wellness Events page. I believe that exposure to useful resources is a very important tool for students to have access to. But they cannot be informed if they are not made aware of Wellness Events happening within their own institution. I would love to see some school promoted events regarding wellness in this component of the tool as I think it would be a fantastic resource for students!
Learning Skills Required
One major skill that is needed to successfully use this tool is literacy. The user has to be able to comprehend the information they are reading, especially when browsing the resources given in the library portion of the tool. Some of the material provided in the library resources is also quite critical and in-depth, so the student using the tool must be able to comprehend what it being said to them through their literacy skills. Another skill that is required for this tool is emotional intelligence. The student must have some understanding of their emotions and why they are happening. If the student does not have a good comprehension of their emotional intelligence, it will be very difficult for them to engage in material in the tool that will help to support them. Professional Development is also a huge skill that is needed when educators use this tool to refer and support their students. An educator must be well informed with the tool and understand what resources would support a student who is struggling with their mental health. If an educator does not have enough professional development, they may give the student incorrect resources for their mental health. The user must also have access to a mobile device, iPad or tablet as this tool is only accessible through those devices!
Overall Experience and Teacher Application
Overall, I found that this tool was very user friendly. Once I signed up and was granted access to the site, I found it very easy to sort through the tabs of the tool to understand what is was offering the user. This tool also provides the user with a plethora of resources all chosen with the intent to improve the user’s mental health. This tool was also completely free for download, which makes is easily accessible for students with a mobile device, iPad or tablet! One way that this tool is applicable for teach application is through its promotion of student and teacher wellness. The tool provides an opportunity for support and resources for all aspects of mental health. It also teaches students the importance of mental awareness and how to cope with different mental health experiences. Teacher use can also promote and demonstrate to students that mental health is an important issue at any age. The Library component of the tool is also very useful for teacher application as it provides teachers with a great amount of resources that can be applied within the classroom as well as for research.
(Below are some pictures of the tool!)

My Definition
There is a difference between "love you" and "I love you". "Love you" can just be thrown around and be used for those like your family and friends. Not saying it doesn't have a meaning but it is of lesser value than "I love you". You all love each other but I don't think they can tap into your mind, body, and soul like your partner can. The love is just different. "I love you" is best used for "the one". The one who you'll say "I do" too, and who will also say the same to you. The one who will look into your eyes and fall in love with you more and more. The one who will never have sex with you, just makes love to you because you deserve to be loved and cared for instead of feeling like a side piece. Never have a side piece when in your in a relationship. If you do, I think you should be single because you're not in the relationship for true love. Love is not a game but rather something special that two people share. For those people who love each other unconditionally, no matter what. They'll be there for the good and the bad, and love you at your worst.
