One of the Best Days of my Life

One day, maybe 10 years ago, I was at the beach and seen some ladies doing yoga. I was mesmerized by their movements and probably seemed like a stalker with the way I was just staring at them from a distance but I just couldn’t help it, I was amazed and instantly fell in love with it. I really wanted to try it but I was just THAT girl who was always too scared to try new things. Not to mention I assumed yoga was only for the skinny, in shape and flexible people. What can I say, I can apparently persuade myself out of things without a blink of an eye.

Not even a month ago, today, I found out that there was a yoga studio right down the street from my house. Right at that moment, I was both excited and bummed. Excited because even years later, I still had a love for it but bummed because after all those years, I got even more out of shape from having a heart condition with three ablations and far from being flexible with tight hamstrings from many years of dancing hula. But for some reason, I had a feeling to just do some research. So I did just that, I grabbed my iPad and went online typing like a mad woman, searching for who knows what.. maybe a sign that yoga was my purpose? Ten minutes later, I came across some pictures of people who were all shapes and sizes.... DOING YOGA!!!! Whaaaat??!!! All those years that I had wrongful assumptions had come back and just punched me in the gut!

It took me a hot a minute to stop beating myself up and realizing that things happen for a reason. I decided at THAT moment, that this was my sign and my purpose to just sign up and take that first class. I went to my first class and I’m not going to lie, every single muscle hurt and cried from not being in use in years.. but at the same time, it was also the most amazing feeling ever. I was so hyped up and felt my blood flowing and everything around me seemed more intensified, I felt so many things that I can say that day.. my first class.. was one of the best days of my life.

I can’t help but think how can I see something once, just once and fall so in love with it without trying it until 10 years later and still be in love with all aspects of it? It must be my purpose and it must be a necessity in my life. So I signed up for a year membership, practice every single day at home and even incorporated meditation into my daily routine as well. It just amazes me, how much I love something without even knowing anything about it. So naturally, I feel like I need to learn as much as I can and have been reading on everything yoga and meditation related.

I am doing this blog, to keep me accountable and I hope you can join me in my journey to finding inner peace and self awareness. Please also leave me any recommendations, I would love to hear them.
