This is a one-time CAS activity.

I was answering common questions of students who are at the end of MYP 5 and will be coming to the DP program next year. As computer science is my favourite subject, I decided to take this station specifically as I knew the most about it.

The students had various questions ranging from is it easy to what they can pursue at their university by taking it. I generally know that most students pick the SL of computer science when they need just one more SL subject and it tends to be not that hard in comparison to other group 4 subjects. I’m an HL student in Computer Science and I picked it mostly because I want to pursue a Computer Science university course so I also did tell the students that it was a major fact for me when choosing it. I hope that maybe I did convince a few to try out this subject (but not all of them were thrilled when I mentioned that all of the examination, even the code, has to be written on paper).

I’m sorry for forgetting to take pictures on this day and I only have one towards the end of the day when we were cleaning up so I only took a picture of an already disassembled station that I was presenting from. Though, there are a few people in school who can vouch for me that I was there.

Helping students transition to the DP program was a rewarding experience. Answering their questions about computer science and sharing my own experiences may have encouraged some to pursue the subject. Engaging with younger students has reaffirmed my passion for computer science and the importance of mentorship.

As we established our plan for the presentation we were ready to participate in the project that aimed to assist the younger students in the MYP 5 in understanding subjects they will have next year. I hope that this meeting gave them all crucial informations about TOK and CAS as we prepared really well for this. It was really nostalgic to see younger peers starting the same path we did 2 years ago. I noticed how much I have changed during those 2 years and how much my friends have changed. I think we gained much more confidence and I am proud of how much we grew.

March 2024: Service #1

On the 1st March, during tutors hour, we got the opportunity to represent one of our subjects and tell the MYP 5 year about it. I chose Mathematics AI SL, because I’m really proud of my choice and in my opinion, it was one of the best decisions. After all, struggling all my life with math, I finally became good at it and finally started enjoying it. That said, there were groups of around 6-7 of MYP5 going into our room (the math room with representatives of Math AA HL and SL as well) from time to time, coming up to our desks and asking us questions about our subjects. We spent 1 and a half hours here, and it was overall an interesting experinence. We got to speak about our other subjects to and had the opportunity to integrate with the lower year as well.
