uniqlo mysize assist is bad

don't use this feature, it will give you body dysmophia. i've shopped at uniqlo for years: when i was at my lightest and on the lower end of normal (i could fit into s stuff waist-wise) to when i was at my heaviest (size L). I usually wear M for tops and dresses and L for pants and it's fine.

Their size assist (which is only based on weight + height, i.e. like bmi) insists i'm above a XL now and at my lightest should have worn size L. So it isn't an issue that i gained weight, its consistently wrong. I would have had the clothes fall to the floor if i had worn a size L when my waist size was <26". Heck, i even got a pair of uniqlo jeans from my closet that fits perfectly in a style they had on the website and claimed it would not fit me at all.

Like it isn't an issue with being afraid of higher letters/numbers, i've shopped at enough asian stores as an average height western woman (i.e. tall for east asia) to not be afraid of seeing larger numbers. It's that it has no basis on the reality of their clothes.

anyway, just look at the item measurements, they actually measured the clothes for those, which is cool. those are pretty accurate. I don't know who decided that an auto sizing feature should rely solely on weight and height and not on like, waist measurement or bust size. What's worse, depending on the item, it will tell you whether based on your weight it will be tight on certain parts of your body. Excuse me mr robot how could you possibly know that?? i could have a tiny waist and huge hips. or carry all my weight in my boobs. you don't know. (in my case all my weight is in my thunder thighs). it even thinks it knows my inseam.
