Modern Apartment AU // Nessian
The One With The Coffee Shop Date
I am not sure if this is going to turn into a series or just be one shot but its about Cassian and Nesta having apartments next to each other. Sort of like Friends but not really. Let me know if you like it and you want more.
                                                       Nesta
All Nesta wanted to do today was bake, turn on the cheesiest romcom she could find, and do some much needed relaxing but her coworkers had other ideas. They kept calling her until she decided to give up on relaxing and go into work to solve everyone’s problems.
So here she was walking into her apartment at 11 o’clock already on her second batch of cookies. As soon as she walked into her apartment an hour earlier she put on her old school guilty pleasure spotify playlist and got to baking.
When she’s gone through her playlist four times she has already finished baking two batches of her world famous chocolate chip cookies, one batch of oatmeal cookies (Elain’s favorite), three batches of M&M cookies, and was working on her favorite everything-but-the-kitchen-sink where she put every kind of chocolate she had in her house in the cookies.
As she begun collecting the ingredients she realized she was out of sugar. Without thinking it through she makes her way out into the hall and knocks on the apartment across from her.
After five minutes, and knocking three times, the door finally opens to reveal her neighbor Cassian. “Hey?” he says, more of a question than a statement. He rubs the the sleep out of his eyes, and Nesta forces herself to stare at his face so her eyes don’t trail down to the abs that were on full display. “What can I do for you, sweetheart?”
She rolls her eyes at the nickname before requesting, “I need sugar. One cup to be presence.”
He raises an eyebrow and chuckles slightly, “Sugar? Your knocking on my door for sugar?” He opens the door wider so she can follow him into his kitchen. After taking the measuring cup from her he opens his cabinet and looks around for the sugar. “Can I ask why you need a cup of sugar at four in the morning?”
“I am baking- wait. What did you just say?” she asks, catching the blinking light on his microwave that read 4:03. She jumps off the stool she had planted herself on while she waited for him to get her sugar and exclaims, “It’s 4:03 am? My sister’s graduation is tomorrow morning!”
“So you don’t normally bake in the middle of the night? I was beginning to worry that I was living next to a vampire,” he says, handing over the full measuring cup.
“Thanks,” she says taking the cup from him and walking towards the door. “Sorry for waking you up 4, hopefully it won’t happen again.”
He puts his hand on his door before she can open it causing her to look up at him. “I think you owe me one,” he says.
She scoffs and shoves his arm out of her way and exits his apartment, “You’ve borrowed enough creamer from me we are definitely even.”
“How about coffee tomorrow?” he asks before she can disappear into her own apartment.
She pauses slightly and turns towards him. “Okay,” she replies slowly in thought. “Meet me at the coffee shop around the corner at nine.”
“Nine?” He exclaims, doing the math in his head. “You just woke me up!”
She shrugs, “That’s the only time I am free tomorrow.”
He frowns, and Nesta can see that he is thinking it through in his head, finally he nods. “Okay, I’ll see you at nine.”
“Feyre, believe me. It was awkward. So awkward,” Nesta says, as she stares intently in the mirror trying to perfect her eyeliner while balancing her cellphone between her ear and shoulder. “Worst 47 minutes of my life.”
“47 minutes?” Feyre repeats laughing, “How bad could it be? You’ve been on some pretty bad dates, Nes. Remember when that guy from your gym took you hiking and basically pushed you into a creek?”
“Thanks for reminding me,” Nesta grunts, finishing up one eye and moving onto the next one. “All we did was bicker. I don’t think that’s a good sign on the first date.”
“Isn’t your excuse for not going on second dates always because they didn’t have enough fire in them?” Feyre counters, and Nesta can practically see the smug look on her sisters face through the phone.
Nesta pauses, before replying with a simple, “So?”
Feyre laughs again, “So most guys don’t have enough fire and your neighbor has too much? I think it’s time you start adopting cats.”
“I am a dog person,” she replies.
“Rhys just got here, I’ll see you later at graduation and you can tell me more about your neighbor,” Feyre says.
“She wasn’t interested at all. She looked at her phone three times in ten minutes,” Cassian says into the phone as he goes through his closet.
“Was it a hard to get disinterest?” Rhys asks.
“Definitely not. It was disinterest disinterest,” he says to his best friend. “She bolted out of the coffee shop as fast as she could and we live across from each other.
“Well, maybe this means you should stop pinning over her. You know, Feyre, has been mentioning setting you up with her sister,” Rhys says.
Cassian pulls out his suit, and throws it onto his bed. “Elain? Isn’t she married and expecting? I don’t think her husband would like her going out on a date with me.”
Rhys chuckles on the other side of the line. “No, her sister N-,” he pauses, “I just arrived at Feyre’s apartment I’ll see you later at her graduation, right?”
After hanging up with him and finishing getting ready he makes his way to the parking garage connected to his apartment. He hears a groan of frustration around the corner and a familiar female voice exclaim, “You have got to be kidding me.”
Turning the corner he sees Nesta kicking her the front tire of her car. “What did your car do to deserve that. sweetheart?” she jumps and turns around frowning.
“It won’t start and I am probably going to be late to my sisters graduation and shes going to kill me,” she rambles, pulling her cellphone out of her purse allowing Cassian time to admire the short blue dress she wore. “My other sister is probably already there because she’s always early to everything.”
Cassian frowns and looks at his watch. “Where’s her graduation? I can drop you off,” he says.
She looks up surprised and her eyes drop to the suit he’s wearing then back up to his face. “Prythian University,” she says.
“Perfect, that’s where I am heading,” he says, before turning to walk and gesturing for her to follow. She locks her car and follows behind him.
“Why are you going to Prythian University? Does someone you know go there?” she asks.
“My friends girlfriend is graduating. I usually wouldn’t go to these kind of things but he’s planned a big surprise for her after it. He’s actually proposing, which is about time. Those two have been in love with each other since they met. He even flew up her sister, Elain, who lives in North Carolina.” When he finishes he looks over to see what Nesta was going to say but shes not walking next to him anymore. He turns to see her stopped in the middle of the sidewalk. “You okay?”
“Is your friend Rhysand?” she asks.
Cassian frowns confused, “Yeah, why? Do you know him?”
“I do actually. He’s dating my sister.”

Modern Friends AU // Nessian
The One With The Runaway Groom
Cassian stood up on the altar watching his wife to be slowly walk up the aisle. His eyes moved over the crowd. He barely recognized more then half the guests, but he spotted Rhys and Feyre in the crowd. They both looked neutral, not happy nor sad, with fake smiles plastered on their faces when they saw him looking.
“Cassian,” Claire whispers loudly, his eyes jerk towards her and see her and her father standing at the bottom of the stairs. “Can you at least pretend to be interested?”
He walks down the stairs and takes her arm, helping her up the stairs to where they we were to be married in front of all of their guests. “Repeat after me. I, Claire, take you Cassian to me my lawfully wedded husband,” the preacher says. Claire repeats her vows and the preacher turns towards Cassian.
“I, Cassian,-,” Cassian gives his friends one last glance before continuing. “take you, Nesta.” he pauses, he said something wrong.  He hears Feyre gasp and Claire’s friends and family start whispering.
The preacher looks between Claire and Cassian but no one moves. “Am I continuing?” he asks, slightly confused. Claire nods quickly. “Okay, um, repeat after me. I, Cassian, take you, CLAIRE, to be my wife.”
Cassian swallows the lump in his throat before saying, “I, Cassian, take you- I am sorry. I can’t do this.”
Cassian didn’t look back. He didn’t look back as he ran out of the chapel. He didn’t look back as he ran to his car and he didn’t look back as he sped his car out of the parking lot. He had to get out of there before he made the biggest mistake of his life.
“Everything happens for a reason, Nessie,” Elain says comforting, Nesta could hear the desperate tone in her voice. Nesta was always the one comforting Elain it was never the other way around. Nesta never let herself break in front of her sisters before.
“I know but I just feel alone right now,” she says, putting her head into her hands as she sits up on the roof of Rhys and Feyres house. She let herself wonder what was happening at the wedding. Were they at the vows? Were they already announced Husband and Wife?
“I wish I could be there,” Elain says, and Nesta can hear the faint sounds of a baby cry.
“Your married with a kid, I understand your not going to be able to do weekend road trips anymore. I’ll get over it. I always do,” Nesta replies, the baby crying starts getting louder. “I should let you go.”
“Nesta, if you need to talk we can talk. Lucien can handle her,” Elain retorts.
“I’ll be okay. Go be with your family,” Nesta replies. They say there goodbyes and Nesta lays her phone on the table next to her as she leans back in the chair. She thinks she hears someone calling her name but everyone she knows is at the wedding.
“Nesta,” she hears someone yell again. She stands up and turns around just as the door opens. “Finally, I’ve been looking all over town for you.”
“Cassian? What are you doing here? Your supposed to be married,” she blurted.
“I am not anywhere I am not supposed to be,” he retorts, closing the distance between them. “Nesta, I had to see you. After last night-,”
“I am sorry about that. I shouldn’t have blurted it out. You were right when you said I was being selfish,” Nesta interjected. “But you didn’t have to come talk to me before you got married. We could have talked after you got back from your honeymoon. I still want to be your friend, Cassian, if that’s okay.”
“Nesta-,”
“I know it’ll be hard because I told you I loved you but I am-,”
She’s cut off mid-sentence when he pulls her towards him and kisses her. She reacts right away by wrapping her hands around his neck to close the little distance between them they had left. She pulls away slightly, his forehead resting on hers. “Your supposed to be getting married-,”
“Nesta, will you shut up?” Cassian interrupts, with a chuckle. Nesta shuts her mouth and looks up at him confused. “I am not married. I am not getting married. Today at least.”
Her brows furrow in confusion as she questions, “what do you mean your not getting married?”
“If you let me finish any of my sentences,” he says giving her a jokingly pointed look. “You would learn that I canceled it. I didn’t want to make the biggest mistake of my life especially after the girl I love finally told me she loves me back.”
“So you still love me?” she asks.
“Would I be here if I didn’t?” he says, she shakes her head with a small smile on her face. “Did I ever tell you how thankful I am you knocked on my door at four in the morning for “sugar”?”
“It was for sugar!” she protested, but she doesn’t have time for anymore protesting because he’s pulled her into another kiss.
And they lived Happily Ever After

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Pt. 2 // Fanfic
Modern Au // Nessian
The One Where Feyre Gets Engaged
Wooooow, I never thought that a little one shot I wrote on a car ride to chick-fil-a would get read so many times. Thank you guys so much for reading and requesting more it means so much to me!   Now lets get started shall we?
“Congrats, Feyre,” Nesta says, pulling her youngest sister into a hug after they had pushed their way through the crowd of families hugging and found her. “I knew you could do it.”
“Thanks Nes,” Feyre replies. After they break apart, Elain pulls Feyre into a bone-crushing hug. Well, as bone crushing as a seven month pregnant lady could give. “Elain, I am so glad you could come!” Nesta watches as her sister looks over at her boyfriend (soon to be Fiance if what Cassian was saying was correct) and mouths a quick “Thank you.”
“I am just so proud of you,” Elain says, pulling away from her sister and stepping back into her husband’s, Lucien, embrace. She wipes away the tears that are falling. “The last Archeron graduation.”
“Darling, can I just tell you that you looked marvelous up on stage?” Rhys says, wrapping an arm around Feyre’s shoulder. “I was imaging you in that robe later-”
“Okay, no need to finish that sentence,” Nesta interjects, probably saving everyone in their group a vivid image none of them wanted.
“Rhys, we should probably start making our way to the restaurant,” Cassian says. Nesta turns and looks at him as him and Rhys start quietly talking with one another. She looks away abruptly when they turn back towards the group. “Rhys and I will drive to the resturant to make sure they didn’t mess up our reservation, Lucien and Elain can follow along in their car, and Nesta and Feyre can take her car.”
After that annoucement the boys swiftly walk away without another word. “What happened to your car?” Feyre asks, raising an eyebrow as she leads them both towards her car.
“It wouldn’t start so I caught a ride with- a uber,” Nesta says, catching herself. Cassian and her agreed that they should keep the fact they knew each other secret for now.
“You caught a ride with a uber? How would Rhys and Cas know that?” Feyre questions, unlocking the car and getting in the drivers seat.
Nesta shrugs as she buckles her seatbelt, “How exactly would I know? Maybe they were outside when I pulled up,” she counters. “What is this an interrogation?”
Feyre laughs, “No, of course not. This a friendly sister to sister conversation. I am just trying to figure out how Cassian and you know each other,” she replies. Nesta turns towards her and sees the smug look on her sisters face.
“I don’t, I just met him a couple minutes ago when we were all congratulating you,” Nesta exclaims, earning a curious look from her sister. She groans and slouches down in her seat. This was going to be a long car ride.
“Your not as secretive as you think you are. I saw you look at him whenever he wasn’t looking at you,” Feyre says, “You were practically drooling at him when I went up to get my diploma. Elain had to nudge you to let you know I was up there.”
“Who are you? Sherlock?” she counters, crossing her arms and frowning. She didn’t realize how much she was staring at him. Feyre turns to give her sister a look and Nesta lets out a long sign. “Okay, fine, I’ll tell you just keep your eyes on the road. He’s my neighbor.”
“Wait, the neighbor you asked for sugar and went on a date with this morning?” Feyre asks, not able to stop herself from chuckling. “Did you know I was trying to set you guys up? I am such a matchmaker.”
“So, you and Nesta?” Rhys says once they pull out of the University parking lot.
“Nesta Archeron?” Cassian says, trying desperately to be cool. He usually couldn’t keep anything from his best friend but Nesta wanted to keep them quiet and he did not want to anger her. “What about her?”
Rhys laughs, and Cassian turns just in time to see his friend mid eye-roll. “Do you really think I can’t see through your lies?”
Cassian sighs, “Okay, fine. She’s the girl from last night.”
“Last night? You mean the girl who woke you up at 4 and you went out to coffee this morning? Nesta Archeron is the girl you’ve been in love with since she moved into the apartment across from yours two years ago?” Rhys asks grinning. “This is perfect.”
“What do you mean “this is perfect”?” Cassian asks shooting his friend a suspicious look.
“Looks like were here, I’ll tell you later,” Rhys says, putting the car in park and jumping out of it quickly. Cassian shakes his head at his friends antics and follows him into the restaurant.
“She said yes!” Rhys annouces, as him and Feyre enter the dining room he had rented. They had disappeared a little over twenty minutes ago. The group crowded around them cheering and congratulating them. Cassian went out to get drinks for everyone to celebrate.
After celebrating, Feyre and Rhys left holding hands and with smiles on their faces. Elain and Lucien left shortly after them. Luciens arm wrapped around a tired Elain who’s head was droopy on her husband’s shoulder. Even Mor, Rhys cousin and Feyres friend, and their mutual friend Azerial left together laughing and staring at each other when they thought no one was looking.
Nesta stood outside the restaurant, one arm wrapped around herself to shield her from the summer night breeze and the other opening her phone to call an uber. “Need a ride?” she looked over as the door to the restaurant opened revealing Cassian.
“No, no, it’s fine,” she says, waving her hand dismissively. She wanted to be alone. She wanted to go back into the bar and wallow in self pity but she had work the next morning so they second best thing was to sit in silence in the backseat of a strangers car. Sure she was happy for her sisters. Feyre was engaged to someone she loved and Elain was about to have a child but Nesta couldn’t help the jealousy she was feeling. She was the oldest and she was alone.
“Seriously? You live across from me. If you want you can sit in my backseat, I can make awkward small talk with you, and you can pay me ten dollars when we get there,” he offers cracking a smile in her direction. She couldn’t help but reciprocate it. “Come on, your cold and I am tired. I don’t know if you heard this story yet but this girl on my floor- who I think is madly in love with me- made up this excuse of needing sugar to try and get my attention last night. Do you know what her excuse was? She was baking.”
She rolls her eyes annoyed but lets out a small laugh and says, “Some people find it very relaxing to bake in the middle of the night.” She follows him towards his car. She even allows him to open the door for her.
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” he retorts.
“Maybe one day you’ll see how relaxing it can be,” she responds. He shuts her door and walks around to the drivers seat.
“You know, I am craving some warm fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies,” he says, not looking at her as he turns on the car and begins driving towards their apartment complex.
“Well, I happen to have just the right amount of sugar to make one batch of chocolate chip cookies,” she says, looking at the clock in his car. “But it’s 11 o’clock.”
He shrugs and smiles in her direction, “I heard that it’s relaxing to bake at night.”

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Epilogue // Fanfic
Modern Friends AU // Nessian
The One With The Happily Ever After
Family Tree: Elain and Lucien: Azalea (3) and Violet (16 months) Feyre and Rhysand: Caden and Kaleb (2)
2 ½ years later
“Who put is in charge of all the kids again?” Nesta yells as she chases Caden into the living room trying to get the marker away from him. She spots Kaleb in the corner of her eye climbing onto the stair banister.
“I think I heard Rhysand say something about ‘practice’ before dropping the kids and running away from their ‘kids free day’,” Cassian says, walking into the living room holding Violet. “Have you seen Aza?”
Nesta pulls the marker out of Cadens hand and grabs Kaleb off of the banister. “No, I thought she was with you,” she sighs. “Keep an eye on them, I’ll look upstairs.”
“Alright, who wants to help Uncle Cassian make some snacks?” he calls out. The boys start yelling coherent noises but they run towards the kitchen none the less. Cassian follows behind them bouncing Violet up and down making her squeal in delight.
Nesta makes her way up the stairs of the home Cassian and her had bought last summer. They were still moving in but that was because they couldn’t decide who’s couch was softer or who’s TV had better quality. “Aza?” she calls out peeking her head into their bedroom and then the guest room. Both empty.
“There you are, sweetie, looks like you got into my jewelry,” Nesta says crouching down in front of her and taking in all the necklaces and rings she had on. Nesta scooped her up and began walking back to her bedroom. “How about we take all of this off and then we can help the others make some snacks?”
“Snacks! Snacks!” Aza cheers as Nesta sets her down on the dresser and begins to take the jewelry off of her. “Where did you get this?” Nesta asks, pulling one of the rings off of her finger and expecting it. It was definitely not the ring Nesta would have bought herself. It looked suspiciously like an engagement ring.
“Wuncle Cassians offwice,” she shrugs, Nesta stares down at the ring lost in thought but Azalea nudges her shoulder pulling her out of her thoughts. “Snacks time?”
Nesta slips the ring into her pocket before picking her up again. “Snack time.”
“Feyre, it won’t come off,” Nesta says coming out of the bathroom and walking into the living room. When Elain moved back they had established a Archeron sister night the first friday of every month. Feyre had come early to help Nesta cook.
“What won’t come off?” Feyre asks looking up from her phone. She spots Nesta tugging at her finger. “Cassian proposed? When did Cassian propose? Why was that not the first thing you told me when I showed up?”
“Cassian didn’t propose. Azalea found the ring when we were babysitting her last week and I’ve just been hanging on to it,” Nesta explains.
“Okay, and Cassian hasn’t noticed it’s gone? Why are you wearing it?” Feyre asks, taking Nesta’s hand to exam the ring.
“I don’t think he’s noticed. He hasn’t mentioned it to me,” Nesta replies.
“Why would he mention it to you? Your the one he’s going to propose too,” Feyre exclaims, tugging on the ring. “You still didn’t answer why you put it on.”
“I wanted to see what it looked like! Then I started tugging on it and it got caught a little and I kept thinking about what would happen if it got stuck and then it did get stuck and I can’t go show Cassian that I know he’ll be crushed!” Nesta exclaims.
“Wow, whats happening here?” Elain asks walking into the room and dropping her bag. Nesta puts up her hand. “Aw, Nes! When did Cassian propose?”
“He didn’t,” Feyre and Nesta say in unison. “She found it and then decided to put it on.” Feyre adds.
“Do you have any pam? or any grease pan spray?” Elain asks.
“Yes but I don’t want to ruin the ring,” Nesta says as Feyre disappears into the kitchen to find the spray. “If I ruin the ring then I’ll have to tell Cassian that I found the ring and then proceeded to destroy it and it’s really pretty.”
“I’ve never seen this disorganized, it’s weird,” Elain says. Feyre walks back into the room with the spray. “We get the ring off and then I’ll take it to my jewelers to get it cleaned. Everything will be fine.”
Cassian was finishing up getting ready to leave when his phone started ringing. “Cassian, speaking,”  he says, balancing the phone between his ear and shoulder while he finished packing.
“Hi, this is Kelly, from Prythian Jewelers. This was Nesta Archerons back up number on file and she wasn’t picking up her phone so my boss told me to call you,” she says.
“Okay?” Cassian asks slightly confused as to what this has to do with him. “How can I help you?”
“Nesta dropped off a ring a last night to be cleaned and we wanted to let her know it was ready to be picked up,” Kelly replies.
Cassian glances at his watch before saying, “Okay, I’ll pick up in a few minutes.” He figured it’d be a nice surprise for Nesta so she wouldn’t have to pick it up later and it was on the way home from work.
“Alright, found it!” the employee says, grabbing the ring and placing it on the table. Cassian freezes when he sees the engagement ring he picked out months ago. The worker, puts the ring in a box and then puts it in a bag for him. “We resized it like you asked and cleaned the diamonds. Have you guys set the wedding date yet?”
Cassian frowns as he takes the bag. “Not yet,” he says, as he pays.
“Have a nice day,” the employee says.
“I was wondering when you were going to get home. Was there traffic?” Nesta asks, looking up from her book when he walks into the living room. She spots the Prythian Jewelers bag in his hand. “Did I miss an anniversary?”
“No, this is yours. The jewelers called and said your ring was ready to be picked up so I thought I would pick it up for you,” he says, walking over and dropping the bag in her lap.
“Did you see the ring?” Nesta asks causally. He gives a look that says, ‘do you think I saw the ring?’ Nesta sighs. “I am sorry. I didn’t mean to see it. Azalea actually found it and then I wanted to try it on and it got stuck so Elain had to use grease spray to get it off-” she stops when Cassian starts laughing. “Why are you laughing? I thought you would be mad at me.”
“Why would I be mad at you?” Cassian asks, sitting down next to her. “I don’t even know why I thought I would be able to pull of an epic surprise proposal. This is so us.”
“What do you mean this is so us? Are you proposing right now? I am in a my pajamas! I don’t even know remember if I brushed my hair this morning!” Nesta exclaims.
“Okay, I’ll just take this back then,” he says, reaching for the bag. She grabs his hand to stop him.
“Actually, this is kind of perfect. We haven’t really had a normal relationship anyways,” she says, shifting so they are face to face.
Cassian smiles as he pulls out the box. “Will you Nesta-”
“Yes!” she exclaims.
“-let me finish before you say yes?” Cassian retorts, raising an eyebrow. Nesta nods in a way for him to continue. “Nesta, I have known-”
“This is taking way too long. I love you. You love me. That’s all we really need to know right? Now lets get married!” Nesta says, pulling him towards her for a kiss.
                                                   The End
Would you guys want me to do some prompts or start on another series?
I also just want to thank you all for the endless support even through all the heartbreak. You guys rock.

The One With The Wedding
A/N: Thanks for sticking with the story despite all the drama and heartbreak. I would like to apologize to those who started this story because it was a fluff story and a break from the angst. Sorry. :)
“You don’t have to come to the rehearsal dinner. You don’t even have to come to the wedding,” Feyre says, from the vanity chair while Nesta braided her hair into an updo. “We could come up with a great excuse.”
Nesta shook her head, “No, this is going to kill me but I think I would regret it if I wasn’t there for him. I would want him to come to my wedding if it was reversed.”
Feyre reached up to grab her sisters hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. “You know there someone out there for you, right? Cassian just wasn’t the one,” she states.
Nesta smiled at her sister through the mirror in a reassuring way but she knew Cassian was the one. She knew she had missed her chance and she was going to have to live with that the rest of her life.
“Feyre, Nesta, it’s time to go. We wouldn’t want to be late,” Rhys yells from downstairs. Nesta finishes up her sisters hair quickly and they make there way downstairs together. Rhys seems surprised to see Nesta ready but quickly composes himself again. “Darling, you look stunning, as do you Nesta.”
“Thanks Rhys,” Nesta replies, everyone stands around awkwardly so she gestures towards the door. “Are we going?”
The car ride is silent. Rhys and Feyre sit up front quietly whispering to each other and Mor, who is usually talking, is either staring out the window or down at her hands.
“I am glad you all came,” Cassian says, but he’s looking directly at Nesta when he says it. Since that morning in her apartment, she slowly stopped helping with the wedding preparations, glancing around the room she assumes Claire must have finally helped since it was everything Cassian said he didn’t want in a wedding.
“We wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Rhys says, clapping his friend on the back before guiding his wife to where they were assigned to sit. Mor had already disappeared.
“You look great,” he says, stepping closer towards Nesta. “I didn’t think you would show up.”
“Why?” Nesta asks sweetly, forcing herself not to add one of us actually thinks we’re friends.  “I wouldn’t want to miss your big day especially since I help with some of it. What cake did you guys decided to go with? the Lemon vanilla?”
“No, actually, I went with the chocolate mousse,” he says, and she raises an eyebrow in surprise. “I figured I should have at least one thing I like at this wedding.”
“You don’t seem that thrilled. It’s the day before your wedding night, you should be beyond happy,” she says. Cassian doesn’t have time to reply because Claire comes up next to him and snakes her arms around his waist.
“There you are, Cassie, I was wondering where you ran off too,” she smiles, leaning up to kiss his cheek leaving a bright red lip stain, when she turns to Nesta, Cassian discreetly wipes at it trying to get it off. “Nicole, right? Cassian’s neighbor? I am glad you were able to come. We didn’t know if we were going to have a seat for you since your just a neighbor but Cassian here really wanted you to be here.”
“Thanks, I appriciate it,” she says through clench teeth. “I should probably go find my sis-,”
“Your single, right?” Claire asks, Nesta nods before flickering her eyes towards Cassian who looks just as confused as she feels. “My cousin is here and I think you two would be perfect. I have to introduce you to him. Hes right over there.”
Nesta follows where Claire is pointing and sees an man, who’s probably in his forties. He’s short, stout, and balding. “You two would look so cute together,” Claire says before perking up when a tall blonde fellow walks through the door. “Oh that’s my boyfriend from highschool! I wanna go say hi!” she announces before exiting the conversation.
“I’ll make sure she doesn’t introduce you,” Cassian says.
“I should go find my seat,” she says, walking away from Cassian before he can say anything else. She needed a glass of wine before having another conversation with anyone else.
“Thank you all so much for coming,” Claire says into the microphone. It was only the rehearsal dinner but you would think it was the wedding since it seemed everyone had been inviting. “I should call it a night so I can have all the beauty sleep I need before the big day tomorrow.”
“You’re always beautiful,” Cassian calls out to her, she puts a hand on her heart and mouths “I love you.” Nesta rolls her eyes and turns back towards the open bar, holding up her empty glass and waits for the bartender to fill it before taking a sip.
When Rhys and Feyre found her she was already on her fourth glass. “Oh Nes,” Feyre says, taking the glass from her sisters hand and putting it out of her reach. “Is this where you were the whole night?”
“No, in the beginning I talked with Cassian and his lovely bride to be,” Nesta replies with a roll of her eyes. “What does he see in her?”
Feyre shushes her quickly looking around to see if anyone heard her while Rhys put her arm around his shoulder and helped her off the stool. She pushes him away gently, “I’ve had three and a half drinks. I am not drunk. I wouldn’t get drunk here.”
“Do you want to stay at our place tonight so you don’t have to be alone?” Feyre asks. Or across the hallway from Cassian.
“No thanks,” she retorts. She wasn’t a child she didn’t need to be looked after. “Can this day get any worse?” she exclaims, when they exit the building and its pouring down rain and remembering how far away Rhys had to park since we were late.
“Why don’t you stay here and I’ll go get the car,” Rhys suggests.
“Oh no, its okay. I love walking in the rain anyways,” Feyre says, taking her husbands hand.
Nesta scoffs, and rolls her eyes. “Well, I’ll be staying here where it’s nice and dry.”
Feyre seems conflicted but a tug from her husbands hand has her leaving the building. Nesta leans up against the wall, staring out at the rain, waiting for the familiar car to pull up. “Ma’am,” someone says. She turns to see a janitor standing in the hallway. “I need to close the building.” She raises an eyebrow and looks out at the pouring rain before turning back towards him with an expectant look. “Sorry, ma’am,” he shrugs.
She frowns, shooting a glare his way before exiting the building into the pouring rain. At least she wouldn’t have to stand outside for long, hopefully.
“Nes?” she turns to see Cassian. “I am glad I ran into you. You left your purse inside.” He holds it out for her and she takes it gratefully. “Did you have a nice night?”
Small talk. Their relationship had come to small talk. He sticks his hands in his pockets and looks at her. “Yes, it was great,” she replies with a smile. Smile through the lies. “How about you? Ready for your big day?”
Anyone else wouldn’t have seen his smile falter but Nesta did and it gave her hope. “I just want to be married,” he replies. Married to who? Nesta can’t help but ask herself. “Well, I should be headed home. Do you need a ride?”
“No,” she says quickly. Hurt flashes across his face so she adds, “Feyre and Rhys are driving me home.”
“I can just take you. We live right across from each other,” he retorts.
“I am actually staying at their house,” Nesta says, she wasn’t going to but it was the only thing she could think of on the spot. He nods, before giving a slight wave and turning on his heel. “Wait, can I ask you something?”
He pauses, “Yeah of course.”
“Why are you marrying Claire,” she blurts. His eyes widen in surprise. She’s surprised by it herself but she doesn’t try to take it back just stares at him waiting for an answer as they both stand there in the pouring rain with the only light a street light.
“Because I love her and I want to get married,” he replies smoothly.
“So you just want to get married?” she inquired, raising an eyebrow accusingly.
“Yes, but I want to get married to Claire. Why? What are you trying to start, Nes?” he asks.
“I am not trying to start anything,” she retorts, turning towards the parking lot and hoping to see Rhys and Feyre so they could save her from this conversation. “I just want to make sure you are making the right decision.”
“And you bring this up the night before my wedding?” he scoffs, kicking at a nonexistent pebble.
“You know whats crappy? That after everything we’ve been through together you only think of me as your neighbor. It sucks. Do you know why it sucks so much? Because I think of you as so much more. I love you, Cas, and to you I am just your neighbor who knocked on your door at four in the morning for sugar.”
He gaps at her and shes taking in quick breaths, her shoulders lifted from shoulders. “How selfish can you be, Nes?” She freezes, selfish? “It’s the night before my wedding. I am getting married in a less then ten hours and your telling me you love me?”
She opens her mouth to speak, the angry tears rolling down her face and mixing with the rain. He shakes his head and the look on his face makes Nesta shut her mouth. “Do you know how long I have loved you? How long I waited for you to return my feelings? Two years. Now here you are telling me you love me the night before I am going to get married to someone else. That’s so selfish. Nesta. You should have just kept it to yourself.”
“Kept it to myself? You would want me to never tell you that I love you?” Nesta asks, taking a step back as if his words had forced her back. “You would want be to live in silence the rest of my life?”
“Yes! That’s why your selfish! The whole world doesn’t revolve around you!” he yells, running a hand through his wet hair in exasperation. “I can’t have you here.”
“What?” she asks softly, her voice cracking silently. “Cassian, I am sorry. I shouldn’t-”
“Just don’t come tomorrow, okay?” he says, before turning and walking away. Nesta watches as he leaves and with every step he takes she feels her heart break a little more.
“You coming?” Feyre yells. She turns to see Feyre and Rhys looking at her in concern and realizes she has been staring at an empty sidewalk in a daze. She gets into the car and puts her seatbelt on quickly.
“I am going back to your place,” she says. Rhys and Feyre share a look but they don’t mention the crack in her voice or the sniffling they hear the whole way home.

Modern Friends AU // Nessian
The One With the Wedding Crasher
“It’s time to go. We have fifteen minutes until we need to be there. Why are you still in bed! Nesta, come on,” Feyre says, storming into the guest room and pulling off the covers. “You better not be hungover.”
“I am not hungover,” Nesta groans, rolling over on her side. Her voice raw from the late night of crying. “I am not going so go ahead and leave without me.”
“Okay, okay, this is last minute but I think we can come up with a great excuse. You got food poisoning from the chicken you ate last night and you were up all night barfing.”
“As much as I love the visual of me barfing all over Claire’s white dress I don’t need an excuse,” Nesta says taking a shaky breath. “I was uninvited by Cassian.”
“What! Why?” Feyre exclaims, laying down on the bed next to her sister. “I don’t care if it’s his wedding day I’ll beat him up. He can’t uninvite you for no reason.”
“He did have a reason,” Nesta sighs, turning so shes on her back and staring up at the ceiling. She did not want to add the disappointment look of her sister to the burning image of Cassian’s expression when she admitted her feelings.
“What happened, Nes?” Feyre asks softly.
“I told him I loved him,” Nesta admits.
Feyre sits up quickly and turns towards her sister. “You did what? Why didn’t you tell me? That’s amazing Nes- oh,” she pauses, before laying back down. “I guess since you were uninvited he didn’t take it so well.”
“No, he didn’t. He called me selfish and uninvited me,” Nesta replies, “I mean, I understand where he’s coming from. He’s getting married and I just show up and announce that I love him.”
“Feyre-why are you both in bed?” Rhys asks, walking into the guest room. “We have a wedding to get too.”
“Nesta told Cassian she loved him and he uninvited her,” Feyre tells him, before turning back towards Nesta.
“Wow, really? That’s harsh,” he comments. “You have horrible timing. Do you know how long he’s been waiting for you to show some interest in him?”
Nesta groans and face plants into the pillow. “You should come anyways. One last try before he’s a married man,” Feyre says. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
“He could get really mad at me and call the police?” Nesta supplies, her voice muffled by the pillow. “I don’t think I should do anything. I think what I did last night was bad enough. He doesn’t feel anything for me so I am just going to let him be. Just go before your late.”
“Okay, call me if you need anything or if you decide you don’t want to be alone. Hoes before bros...and um your my hoe? I am just going to go,” Feyre says, following Rhys out of the room.
I love you, Cassian. The look on Nesta’s face burned in Cassians memory as he walked around the venue he was supposed to be getting married in one hour. He felt guilty for uninviting her but he was confused. He had wanted Nesta to tell him she loved him for years and when he was finally moving on she admits her feelings?
“Cassie? There you are,” the voice of his bride says from behind him. He turns faking a smile as she walks up the path towards him. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you. Why aren’t you getting ready?”
He freezes when she wraps her arms around his waist and he has to stop himself from thinking about what if it was Nesta wrapping her arms around him instead. “It only takes me a couple minutes to throw on a suit. Why aren’t you getting your hair or makeup done?” he asks.
She frowns and pulls her arms away from him. “My hair and makeup is done. I am just waiting for my sister to arrive with my dress,” she comments. “Do you think I wake up every day looking like this?”
She gestures towards her curly hair. “I know you don’t look like that in the morning but-,”
“Excuse me? Are you trying to tell me I look ugly in the morning?” she exclaims stepping away from him. He rolls his eyes. “Oh and now your rolling your eyes at me? My friend, Ben, said he was going to drop off some breakfast for me so I am going to go look for him.”
“Ben, your highschool sweetheart?” Cassian asks, crossing his arms.
“What’s it to you?” she calls back to him as she storms up the path towards the parking lot. Cassian turns to see Rhys and Feyre standing there with wide eyes.
“I am assuming you heard all of that?” Cassian sighs.
“Not all of it. Just her saying she’s going to go hang out with her boyfriend from highschool because you called her ugly. She’s a little petty,” Feyre comments.
“Feyre,” Rhys warns, she was known to be blunt about everything even when her opinion was not needed. “I am sure she’s just nervous about her big day.”
“No, she’s always like that,” Cassian retorts, kicking at the rocks on the path. “You guys would tell me if you thought I was making a big mistake, right?”
“Your making a big mistake,” Rhys and Feyre say in unison. “Huge mistake. Like life over mistake.” adds Feyre.
“Are you serious? What is up with everyone telling me everything right before I am about to get married?” he wonders aloud. “I have to go talk to Claire.”
Nesta stood in the parking lot of chapel Cassian was about to get married in. She leaned up against her sisters car which she “borrowed” since she didn’t have her own.
“Nesta?” she turned to see her sister walking towards the parking lot. “What are you doing here? Is that my car?”
“I got a boost of confidence so I decided to come but this is as far as I’ve made it,” she comments, staring up at the chapel, as if staring at it would make Cassian appear.
“Well, there might not be a wedding at all,” Feyre says. “Cassian went to go talk to Claire forty minutes ago and there is still no sign of them and the wedding was supposed to start twenty minutes ago.”
Nesta turned toward her attention to her sister. “Really? So he might not be getting married today? I haven’t completely missed my chance?” she asks.
Feyre opens her mouth to reply but out of the corner of her eye she sees Cassian and Claire walking towards the chapel together. Him clothed in a dashing suit and her in a beautiful white dress. The smile slips from Nesta’s face.
Cassian turns and he freezes when he spots Nesta. Nesta searches his face for any sign of emotion but Claire realizes he’s stopped and reaches for his hand to pull him back towards the chapel.
“I am sorry, Nes,” Feyre says, but Nesta is already pulling the keys out of her purse and walking towards the drivers seat. “Do you want me to come with you?”
“No, you should enjoy the wedding,” Nesta says climbing into the car and shutting the door. She pulled out of the parking determined not to look behind her. He deserved to be happy and if that meant giving up her own happiness she would gladly do it.

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Pt. 6 // Fanfic
Modern Friend AU // Nessian
The One With The Girlfriend
The following weeks Nesta and Cassian hung out a lot. In the beginning Cassian believed it had been going somewhere but Nesta began to use his new least favorite word. Friend.
“You’re such a great friend,” she would say when he would surprise her with coffee in the morning.
“Why are you the best at being a friend?” she said after he help her pick out a new car and not being ripped off by car dealership people for being a female in her mid-twenties.
She would even just say it while they were watching a movie or driving to Feyre and Rhys place. Just a simple, “I am glad we’re friends.”
Cassian wasn’t completely sure Nesta was even doing it on purpose to continually kee him in the friend zone. She was just doing it because she was genuinely happy they were friends.
So it didn't come to a surprise that at dinner when they were sitting in the living room waiting for Rhys and Feyre to pack them a doggy bag to take him she said it again. "You're my best friend," she annouces.
Granted, she did have almost a full bottle of wine and then proceeded to do shots with Mor so she was beyond tipsy. "Okay, Nes," he replies, rolling his eyes. He wasn't sure his pride would take another reminder that he was in the friend zone with the girl he's liked the longest.
"I am being serious. 100% truthful," she exclaims, leaning towards him so he looks at her. "With my sister getting married and my other sister being married and having a baby I was feeling left behind. So I am glad I met you."
Cassian stares at her, he didn't realize she had felt that way. "I am glad I met you too," he finally says.
"I thought I was going to be forever alone," she mumbles her words slurring together as she leans back onto the sofa.
"What about when I find someone?" he asks jokingly. His eyes flicker to the kitchen door before returning to her face.
She turns to him. Her loopy expression gone and replaced with a stoic mask. "Aren't I your someone?" she asks seriously, raising an eye quizzically.
The door opens and Nesta is distracted by the arrival of her doggy bag to even remember what she said but Cassian remembers.
"I am going on a business trip to a Europe," Cassian says, as he rolls the dough. He had made Nesta his homemade pizza a couple weeks ago and now she requests it every Friday.
"Really? What for?" Nesta yells from her seat in his living room. She was sprawled out on his sofa, her belongs surrounding her as she flipped through a magazine.
"Just a conference, ill only be gone a week but I won't be able to make pizza next Friday," he replies.
"What am I supposed to do? Your pizza is the only meal I get that's home cooked and not microwaved. How can you leave at such a time," she exclaims dramatically.
"I am giving you a week notice. This will allow you to try a recipe for yourself. Maybe you'll learn you don't need me," he retorts jokingly. He finishes up the pizza and sticks it in the oven.
He barely hears her when she says, "I'll always need you." He walks into the living room, rolling his eyes at the state of her, but smiles none the less because she just admitted she needed him. "You're my best friend, Cas. Who else would I bother everyday?"
There's that dreaded word again. Friend. Not even friend. Best friend. Which is worse then just being someone's friend. His smile slipped momentarily. "I don't think I remember signing up to be annoyed everyday so maybe going away will be good," he says.
 "Too late now," she shrugs.
Nesta paces her room, “I am going to do it tonight when he gets back. I’ve waited way too long,” she says into her phone.
“It’s about time, Nes,” Feyre retorts, “We’ve been all waiting for this to happen. Even Cassian has been waiting for you to get your act together.”
“I know-,” she pauses, when she hears some commotion in the hallway. “I think he just got back.”
“Go get your man,” her sister cheers, before hanging up and allowing Nesta to be consumed by her doubts.
“You got this,” she mutters to herself as she grabs the plate of cookies she made for him and exits her apartment. “Just knock on the door, Nes, it’s not the hard,” she whispers taking in a deep breath. She lifts her hand to knock but the door swings open.
“Nes, hey, what are you doing here?” he asks, stepping into the hallway and closing the door behind him.
She lifts the plate of cookies. “I thought I would check to see if you were back so I could give you these,” she says, “I also thought we could hang out and I could tell you everything you missed at mandatory Sunday night dinner.”
“Oh yeah, that would be great,” he says, looking back at the door before looking back at her. “But maybe tomorrow? I am a little jet lagged.”
“Oh,” Nesta replies disappointed, “Yeah, okay, tomorrow-”
She pauses when the door open and a pretty brunette pops her head. “Are you coming back to bed?” she asks.
Cassian looks between Nesta and the girl and mutters a quick, “I’ll be in a second, sweetheart.” The girl nods, glances over Nesta, before disappearing into the apartment again. “I was going to introduce everyone to her Sunday but that’s my...girlfriend.”

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Pt.7 // Fanfic
Modern Friends AU // Nessian
A/N: Thank you for all the love you have been giving this series.
The One With The Ring
“She’s not that pretty,” Mor says, trying to comfort Nesta. “I mean she is pretty but definitely not as pretty as you are or maybe the same level as pretty. Actually, you both are pretty just in very different ways.”
“Wow, your so good making people feel better,” Feyre says, sitting down next to Nesta and handing her a bowl of ice cream. “He dated Claire in college, they didn’t last that long. This is probably just a fling.”
“A fling that has lasted seven months?” Nesta retorts, “It doesn’t matter that much anyways, I am over it. I missed my chance. We weren’t meant to be.”
“Nes, don’t talk like that,” Feyre comforts, her phone buzzes in her hand and she glances down. “I need to head back, I promised Rhys I would be home for dinner.”
“Yeah, I should be heading home too before it gets late,” Mor adds, standing up. “Call me if you need anything.”
“Stop worrying guys, I am fine,” Nesta assures as she walks them towards the door. They both give her pitiful looks and a hug before exiting her apartment. Nesta turns around and looks around her empty apartment.
Sitting back down on her couch she grabs her phone and scrolls through her contact list. When she gets the one she was looking for she hesitates before clicking call.
“Long time no talk,” the voice says on the other side of the line. “What can I do for you?”
“We should talk. Come over to my place?” she says, regretting the words as soon as shes said them.
“I’ll be over in fifteen minutes,” they voice says and hangs up before she can back out. She tosses her phone onto the couch and groans trying to think about how pathetic she is being right now.
A long excruciating fifteen minutes later, there is a knock on her door. She opens it and sees Tomas smirking, “You called,” he says, walking into her apartment without waiting for an offer.
I won’t be able to come over tonight. My boss just scheduled a meeting. I’ll see you at breakfast tomorrow. Love you <3
Cassian sent a quick text back to his girlfriend before looking at the table of food he had prepared for his girlfriend and him. He got up off the couch to start cleaning up. After blowing out the candles and putting the roses in a vase to give Claire tomorrow he started packaging up the food. Before putting away the chicken he pauses and exits his apartment heading over to Nesta’s apartment. She had been skipping out on Sunday night dinners and ever since he got a girlfriend they hadn’t continued their Friday night pizza dinners. She probably hadn’t had real food in months.
Before he can knock on the door, it opens and Tomas walks out. “Hey Connor,” he greets.
Cassian frowns, every time he saw Tomas he wanted to punch his scrawny face. “Tomas,” he replies coolly. “What are you doing here? Have you resorted to stalking?”
Tomas laughs, “It’s not stalking if you are invited.” Cassian froze. Nesta was seeing Tomas again? “Don’t worry, we aren’t dating. You probably weren’t giving her what she needed so she had to call me.”
“Don’t talk about Nesta like that,” Cassian commands, his mind not wrapping around the fact that Nesta would invite Tomas back into her life. “Better yet why don’t you just not talk about Nesta at all? Just stay out of her life.”
“There’s no need to be jealous, Caleb,” Tomas says. Cassian rolls his eyes at the childlike behavior. “I won’t stick around for long and you can be there to pick up the pieces. Once I make it clear this is nothing she’ll be fine settling with you.” Cassian clenches his fist trying to control his anger. “I should get going. Nice seeing you Caden.”
Cassian watches as Tomas walks down the hallway laughing before turning back around and going into his own apartment to cool down.
“Didn’t expect to see you up here,” Cassian says, walking onto the roof of Rhys house. He had come to drop off something her had borrowed from Rhys and saw Nesta’s bag downstairs.
Nesta looks up at him before returning to her book. “The roof at our apartment isn’t nice and I was not going to tan at the public pool with kids running around screaming constantly,” she retorts.
“Tanning? You? Are you trying to say your normally paler than this?” he asks, taking a seat at the bottom of her lounge chair. She makes a show about having to move her feet but he can see the hidden smile on her face.
“Do you have something to say or are you just here to bother me?” she asks, turning the page of her book.
Cassian leans back on his elbows and glances over at her. “Actually I do,” he says. She peers over her sunglasses curiously at him. “Last week, I ran into someone leaving your apartment.” Nesta raises her eyebrow for him to continue. “I ran into Tomas.”
Her face pales slightly and she puts down the book she was reading. “It’s not what you think,” she replies.
“Then what was it? You’re not seeing him again, right?”
Nesta scoffs, “I would never date him again, not that its any of your business.”
“How is it not my business? Your my friend. I thought we were best friends. That’s what you were saying being I left,” he retorts. “He said you called him there for...”
“A Booty call?” Nesta supplies, and Cassian nods. “I didn’t but thanks for thinking that low of me.”
Nesta frowns, she had called him for a booty call but backed out and said she found a baseball hat that she thought was his. It wasn’t, she knew that but she didn’t want to have her pride bruised in front of her ex.
“Nes,” he says, stopping her from packing up her stuff. “Why don’t we talk anymore?”
She pauses before saying, “I am not the one who stopped Friday night pizza or walking to our cars in the morning together.” Cassian frowns, he didn’t realize he got so caught up in his girlfriend that he stopped talking with Nesta so much. He’s about to apologize when she holds up her hand to stop him. “It’s okay, I get it. You have a girlfriend.”
“Yeah but-,”
“We’re talking now. Whats up?” Nesta asks.
“Can I tell you something I haven’t told anyone yet? Not even Azerial or Rhys?” he asks. She nods and leans forward excitedly. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small black box. Nesta’s mouth drops open when he opens it revealing a diamond ring. “It was a mothers. I am planning on proposing next week.”

The One With The Wedding Planning
“So tell me again why I am coming with you?” Nesta asks, as Cassian and her walk down the street towards the bakery. “I feel like picking out a wedding cake is a thing you should do with your fiancee.”
“She had a meeting and she says these kinds of things stress her out,” he replies with a shrug as he opens the door for her. Nesta glances around the bakery which looked like it was taken straight out of a bridal magazine.
“Ah the happy couple! You look very cute together!” an old lady says, as she walks around the counter. Neither of them have time to correct her because she ushers them both into another room. “I have already set out the a few samples. This is our chocolate chip cake with a chocolate mousse filling.”
Cassian takes a seat and eagerly takes a bite. “This one is amazing, here Nes take a bite,” he says, holding out the fork for him to take a bite. She leans over and takes a bite. She notices a flash in the corner of her eye and jumps back wiping the chocolate off of her face.
“Didn’t mean to startle you dear, we like to take a picture of every happy couple that visits us,” she says, putting the camera down and handing the next piece of cake to Cassian.
“Oh, we aren’t together. I am just his neighbor,” Nesta mumbles. The baker frowns and glances between the two of them.
“I have an eye for these kinds of things and you two are definitely going to be picking out a wedding cake of your own someday,” she replies. Nesta frowns and shifts uncomfortably in her seat.
“I think I like the chocolate one better,” Cassian says, completely oblivious to everything besides the cake.
“So which was your favorite?” Cassian asks as they walk back towards his car. He doesn’t wait for her to respond before saying, “My favorite was definitely the chocolate with the chocolate mousse.”
“Yeah, that was really good. So is that the winner?” Nesta asks.
“No, I think we will probably go with the lemon and vanilla,” he replies, and Nesta can hear the disappointment in his voice. “Claire doesn’t really have a sweet tooth. She likes fruity things more than chocolate.”
Nesta frowns, “How about both?” she suggests.
“Claire’s been freaking out about spending a lot of money on this so she wants to with as little as possible,” he says.
“How about you do what Rhys and Feyre did and have a small wedding with just close friends and family?” Nesta asks .
“I already suggested that but she wants to invite all of her old high school friends, “our” college friends, her coworkers, and her old sorority friends,” he replies, and Nesta can hear the frustration in his voice. “It’s fine, it’s supposed to be her day.”
Nesta stops walking which causes him to stop too. “That’s one of the stupidest things I have ever heard you say, Cassian. It’s your day too. You should be getting things both of you will enjoy. You shouldn’t sacrifice your happiness for hers.”
“Yes, I should. That’s what boyfriends do,” he says.
Nesta runs a hand through her hair as she thinks about what she’s about to say. “No, getting married is about compromising, your going to be spending the rest of your life with Claire. Do you never want to eat chocolate cake again?”
“Nes, just let it be, okay? I appreciate your help today but your not my therapist,” he says, and continues walking.
“Back to the drawing board,” Cassian exclaims, barging into Nesta’s apartment and dropping the “Giant Wedding Binder Full of Dread and Anxiety” onto her kitchen table.
Nesta, who had just crawled out of bed and was still in her pajamas, took another sip of her coffee before saying, “When I gave you the spare key to my apartment it was for emergencies not for you to barge into my apartment at-,” she pauses to look at the clock on her oven. “7:34 in the morning.”
“Well, Claire stopped by this morning and finally took a look at everything we did and went through what she did and didn’t like,” he announces, beginning to pace her kitchen.
She sets down her coffee and walks over to him, grabbing his arms to stop him from moving. “You need to calm down. Let’s start out with that she did like,” Nesta states, opening the binder up to the first page. “So what did she like?”
“Nothing,” he retorts, taking a seat at her table and running a hand through his hair. “I don’t think I can do this anymore, Nes,” he confides. Nesta feels guilty for the way her hopes rise at the thought of him calling it off. “I love her and I want to marry her but she just keep saying no to everything. Why is wedding planning so stressful?”
Nesta bites her lip before speaking, “It’s just a day. It’s one day and then you’ll have the rest of your lives. Besides, you have me here to help so it won’t be too bad.”
“I know, but don’t you think it’s a little weird that I am planning my wedding with my neighbor and not my future wife?” he spats, and Nesta is taken aback by the way he says neighbor. She knew they had their ruff patches but she thought they were at least friends. He must see it on her face because he quickly adds, “I didn’t mean it like that. I am glad I have your help.”
“It’s fine, it’s totally understandable that you would want your fiancee to help pan your wedding and not your neighbor. What you said was the truth,” she replies in her stoic defense she always gets when she feels like she’s losing something she held dearly. “What do you want to start with? I have two hours before work.”
She watches as he debates with himself mentally before saying, “Flowers. She wants roses.”
She nods her head and looks down at the flower cut outs they had. She didn’t want him to see the disappointment she had on her face that he didn’t fight for their friendship. Why would he? Once he was married she would probably never see him again.
Two posts in one day. Go me.

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Pt. 4 // Fanfic
Modern Friend Au // Nessian
The One With The Heart to Heart
A/N: I don’t even know how to begin to thank you guys! All your comments and love mean so much to me and makes me want to write more! Also to those asking about a kiss…I want it to be perfect and Nesta throwing him out of her house after it would not be perfect.
The Day After the Late Night Baking “Date”:
Cassian will never admit it to anyone but he was standing at his door looking out his peephole for thirty minutes waiting for Nesta to emerge from her apartment. He’s about to give up when he hears the click of a doorknob and her door swing open. He waits a second before he opens his own door. “Oh hey,” he says causally, locking his door behind him while she did the same.
She makes a noise in acknowledgement before walking down the hallway, balancing a briefcase and two boxes in her grip. “Do you need help?” he asks, catching up with her and matching her pace.
“I am good,” she replies, still not bothering to look at him. He scratches the back of his neck racking his brain for conversation pieces.
“I am thinking friday I could make my homemade pizza and you could bake whatever you want to bake,” he says, as they reach the elevator. He presses the down button when he sees her struggling with it.
“Friday? I am busy Friday,” she mutters.
“It doesn’t have to be Friday,” he offers.
“I am going to be busy for awhile,” she says as the elevator door opens and she steps into and turns towards him. He can see the distance in her eyes as she stares right through him.
“Oh, well, I just realized I forgot my bag in my room so I’ll take the next one,” he replies with a slightly awkward wave as the doors close between them.
A Couple Months After The “Date”:
“I only signed up to be the best man so that I would be able to plan the bachelor party,” Cassian says, as he sits back in the cushioned chair. “I did not sign up to spend a day in a boutique wedding dress shopping.”
Feyre laughs from where she is in the dressing room. “Elain couldn’t come up from North Carolina because of the baby and Nesta had to work again,” she says.
“What about Mor?” he asks curiously.
“She went to that conference she was hyping up this weekend and Azerial just happened to be out of town on “business” too,” she replies, opening the door and coming out in a puffy white dress covered in feathers.
Cassian cringes when he sees the dress. “Unless the swan look is in fashion I give it a no,” he exclaims. She nods her head in agreement and disappears back into the dressing room. “So your sister had work on a Saturday?”
“What? Oh, Nesta, yeah their was a crisis with one of the books she was advertising or something so she had to go in last minute,” she says, coming back out of the dressing room in a short white dress.
“You look like I would find you on the corner of a street standing outside a strip club,” he says honestly. She laughs and closes the door behind her. “A crisis?”
“Yeah, that’s all she said. Why? You live across from her you can just walk over there and ask her yourself. Aren’t you two dating?” Feyre asks.
Cassian snorts, if ignoring each other was considered dating then they were practically married. “Not even close, I haven’t talked to her in…awhile,” he says, trying to think back to when he actually had a conversation with her.
“Thats a shame, I totally saw you two together,” she retorts, her voice distant as she struggles to put on the next dress.
So did I, he answers in his head as the door opens and she walks out wearing a sliming ankle length dress that had lace detailing on the bodice. “Wow, Fey,” he says, watching as she turns towards the mirror. “If you weren’t already marrying my best friend I would propose right now.”
“Sorry, I am late. I rushed here as fast as- wow. You look wow,” Nesta says, standing behind Cassian. Her eyes hadn’t left Feyre. “Is that the one your getting?”
“Yeah, I think so,” Feyre says, turning and smiling towards them. “All of a sudden it feels so real.” she laughs, wiping away the tears that were forming. “I should go take this off so I can buy it.”
“Did you fix the crisis?” Cassian asks, she turns towards him startled obviously not realizing he was sitting there. When she doesn’t answer right away he adds, “The one at your work?”
“Right, yes. It’s fixed, thank you,” she replies civil. The friendly tone she had used with Feyre just seconds ago gone from her voice.
They sat in silence while they waited for Feyre to change and then stood in silence behind Feyre while she paid. “I am going to have dinner with Rhys, I’ll see you at girls night tomorrow?”
Cassian watched as Nesta gave a curt nod. Feyre gave him a smile and thanked him for coming before disappearing to her car. He turned to say goodbye to Nesta but she was typing hurriedly on the phone.
“Everything okay?” he asks when she lets out a noise of frustration.
“Yeah, I am fine. My ride just bailed on me so I have to get an uber,” she says, continuing to type on her phone.
Cassian doesn’t wait for his mind to tell him not before he’s already offering to drive her home. He remembered Feyre mentioning how her engine had fried and she didn’t have enough time to look for a new car. She looks up surprised, which irritates him. When has he not been kind to her?
“I would appreciate that,” she responds, and he rolls his eyes at the formalities. The car ride is silent and awkward. He watches the road and she texts the whole ride. Neither of them bother with small talk. He pulls up to his designated spot in the garage and parks the car.
“Wait,” she says, as he goes to open the door. “I wanted to apologize for the way I’ve been acting.” He sits back in his seat and looks at her waiting for her to continue.  “I’ve been a jerk to you and you don’t deserve that. I just didn’t want you think it was a date.”
He laughs at that, “Message received.” There’s a pause. “Why exactly did you not want it to be a date? You were the one who woke me up in the middle of the night needing “sugar”.”
She rolls her eyes and scoffs, “I did need sugar so I don’t know why you used that tone.” she pauses, and he can see the hesitation on her face. “I am sort of seeing someone.”
“Oh,” was all Cassian could muster.
“Yeah, he’s really nice. He’s known our family for awhile. He used to like Feyre but she’s getting married now so he missed his chance,” she says quickly.
“He missed his chance with one sister so he’s moving onto the next?” Cassian asks frowning.
“Well, no. I just- he’s inherit his father’s store so he has a stable career and he volunteers on the weekends at an animal shelter-,”
“Are you trying to convince me that he’s a good fit or yourself?” Cassian interrupts.
“I am not trying to convince you of anything. Feyre said your a good friend to talk to and I thought we were friends but I guess I was mistaken,” she says, stepping out of the car and slamming the door behind her. Cassian frowns as he watches her exit the parking garage.
“Nesta,” Cassian yells, following her out of the restaurant. It was a week before the wedding and they had all met up for dinner before things got crazy with the wedding. She pauses midstep and turns towards him. “Whats up with your eye?”
Nesta turns her face so he can’t see the black eye. A waiter had accidentally spilled water on Nesta while she was sitting at the table and it had washed away the make up she had used to cover it “I tripped,” she replies.
“You tripped? Then why is it covered by make up,” he asks, stepping closer to her. He’s relieved when she doesn’t take a step away from him.
“Because I didn’t want to have to explain to everyone how it happened,” she says, staring at something over his shoulder. He knew she was lying and he had his suspicions as to why.
“Nes,” he says, his voice just above a whisper. She turns to look at him, their faces inches apart. “You don’t have to lie to me. Tell me what happened. Did Tomas do this to you?”
She frowns at the mention of her boyfriends name and steps away from Cassian. “It’s not a big deal,” she replies.
He frowns and clenches his fist together. She didn’t say no. She didn’t say it wasn’t him. “Nesta, tell me where he is,” he says through his teeth.
She shakes her head, “No, it’s fine. He won’t do it again and if he does I’ll take care of it.”
“Are you kidding? He hit you and your going to give him a second chance?” Cassian asks bewildered as he stares down at Nesta intently. The once independent fierce girl was gone.
“Just stay out of it, Cassian,” she retorts, turning on her heel and leaving him behind.
Update to come.

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Pt. 5 // Fanfic
Modern Friends AU // Nessian
A/N: Part five already....that's insane. Also, last chapter was deep but don't worry it'll go back to being all cute and fluffy but I just wanted to get that psa out there. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship please speak up. There are people out there who don't even know you and they care so much about your safety so please don't continue to allow yourself to be hurt physically and mentally by your significant other. Stay strong ❤️
Present Time
(Recap: This is Present Time meaning Rhysand and Feyre just got married and Nesta is standing on the roof dramatically. Last chapter was flashback things)
“Nesta, are you coming?” Mor says, popping her head back into the doorway to the roof. “They’re waiting for you. Feyre wants to talk to you before they leave.”
“Okay,” she says, pushing herself away from the wall she was leaning on and makes her way downstairs where everyone was gathered in the living room. Feyre smiles when she see’s her sister walk into the room and pulls her into the foyer for some privacy.
“Nes, I love you and I have to say this before I leave because you need to hear it,” Feyre says, she doesn’t wait for a reply before continuing, “You’re being so stupid.”
Nesta’s mouth drops in surprise. “Excuse me?”
“Tomas is literally the worst. I am going to tell you what you told me when I was dating Tamlin. “You need to dump him because he is an overgrown man child who is unworthy of your time and love,”,” she says.
Nesta frowns, a million thoughts swirling through her mind.
“I say that to you out of love just like you did to me many years ago. Look at me now, I just got married to someone I am actually happy with,” Feyre continues, “Your going to find your happily ever after, Nes. You just have to be patient. You never know when Prince Charming will walk through that door.”
Feyre turns towards the door and Nesta glances towards it before returning her glaze to her sister. “Man, that boy has horrible timing,” she mutters under her breath. “I’ll see you in two weeks?”
“I’ll see you in two weeks,” Nesta replies distant, her mind focused on everything her sister just said to her.
After they left, Nesta found herself back on the roof. Her phone in hand as she scrolled through her contacts. She landed on the one she needed and pressed call.
“Nessie?” she cringes when she hears the nickname her boyfriend gave her. “Why are you calling so late? You know I am going golfing with some friends tomorrow morning.”
She rolls her eyes before taking a deep breath. “Listen, this has been great. Well, not really, but I felt alone and abandoned and stuck so that’s why I dated you.”
“What? What are you saying?” Tomas asks.
“I am saying that this is over,” she says, more confidently.
“Are you serious? Nessie-,” she can hear the frown in his voice. “I was planning on breaking up with you soon anyways so this works out find for me.”
“Have a nice life, Tomas,” she says, but before she can finish the sentence he’s hung up on her. She laughs as she slides her phone back into her pocket a weight lifted from her shoulders.
“Where’s your date?” Cassian asks, walking into the kitchen to see Nesta cleaning up the makeshift bar. They had just said their goodbyes to Rhys and Feyre as they left to go on their honeymoon.
She rolls her eyes at the tone he used. It was the friendliest. None of the inner circle used friendly tones when they talked about Nesta’s boyfriend, Tomas. “We broke up,” she states, not bothering to look up from the dish she was scrubbing.
His eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “About time,” he comments. “I am assuming you did the dumping? If not we can go egg his house and then watch chick flicks. I think I still have some ice cream hidden away from Mors last breakup before Azerial.”
She laughs, and Cassian can’t help the swell of pride he feels in his chest for being the one that caused it. “It was “mutual” or so he says but I definitely did the dumping,” she replies, finally looking up to meet his gaze.
“It’s about time. You deserve way better then him,” he replies. She looks back down at the sink but Cassian sees the small smile shes trying to hide as he walks around the counter to help.
She shrugs, “Stop giving me compliments, it’s not going to make me bake you my world famous chocolate chip cookies.” He opens his mouth to say something but she gives him a look to shut up as she hands him a plate to dry. “Feyre told me she gave you some and you’ve been pestering her to ask me to make some.”
“I can’t help that you make amazing cookies,” he retorts. “You should take it as a compliment.”
“You had your chance and you decided to cover my kitchen in flour,” she laughs, finishing up the dishes and draining the sink. “I am still finding flour in my hair and it’s been a year.”
He laughs, “How can I make it up to you?”
“I think I remember you offering to make me your homemade pizza?” she comments.
When he looks down at her and see’s that she’s being serious he nods enthusiastically. “Okay, yeah. Whenever your free,” he retorts. He pauses before carefully adding, “It’s a date.”
Sort of short but its happy so hopefully that makes up for it.

N.E.I.G.H.B.O.R.S Pt. 3 // Fanfic
Modern Friends AU // Nessian
The One With The Wedding
A/N: Wow, just wow. Just a quick thank you for the love I’ve been getting for this story that I am literally winging. I never thought I would make more then a part one so thank you to everyone requesting more.
“I now pronounce Mr and Mrs Rhysand Velaris,” the minister exclaimed, Nesta watched from her seat as the couple made their way down the makeshift aisle. Rhys and Feyre had their wedding at night on the rooftop of Rhys townhouse, which overlooked the city. They said they wanted to be married under the stars since that’s how he proposed and how they first said “I love you” to each other.
The wedding was small. Very small. The only people invited were Elain and Lucien, Mor, Azerial, Cassian, their father (who didn’t show up), and Nesta. “I can’t believe Feyre’s married,” Elain whispers to her husband in the row behind Nesta. “She just graduated college and now she’s married.”
Nesta frowned and tried to ignore the pang of jealousy she was always feeling lately whenever they talked about Elain and her new baby or Feyre’s wedding. “You coming to the reception?” Nesta turns to see that the rooftop was empty and Elain was standing in the doorway waiting for her. “Are you alright, Nes?”
“Oh yeah, I just zoned out,” she replies giving Elain the best smile she could muster as she followed her sister down in the living room. Rhys had moved all the furniture in his dining room earlier that morning making a small dance floor where he and Feyre were currently slow dancing, Mor and Cassian were trying to waltz and failing, and Lucien was pretending to dance with his daughter.
She walked over towards the makeshift bar and poured herself a glass of the first bottle she could find. “You know, Mor and I waited years to tell each other how we felt and I regret every single day I didn’t tell her how I felt,” Azerial says, leaning against the counter next to her.
She takes a sip of her drink to calm her nerves before turning towards him. “And your telling me this why?” she asks, not even trying to cover the bitter tone in her voice.
He chuckles in reply. “I just don’t want you to make the same mistake I made,” he replies, she turns to see where he’s looking and see him watching Mor and Cassian. Cassian goes to dip Mor but they are both laughing too much that he almost drops her. “Now if you excuse me….” he places his drink on the counter and she watches as she makes his way to the them and cuts in taking Mors hand and pulling her close to him. Cassian scoffs jokingly before looking over at her. They make eye contact and he offers her a small smile but she turns back to her drink finishing it swiftly before exiting the room to find a bathroom.
She’s been to Rhys house plenty of times to know where the bathroom is but she needed to get out of their or she was going to suffocate. She didn’t want to ruin her sisters big day with her jealousy but she couldn’t just sit their and watch her sisters move on with their lives while she was stuck in some sort of limbo.
She wanders her way back onto the roof and leans against the edge, staring up at the starry night. Her mind wanders back to that night a months ago when Rhys and Feyre had just been engaged.
“These better be delicious for all this work. Have you ever heard of premade cookie dough that you just stick in the oven?” Cassian asks, as he stirs the dry ingredients. Nesta was currently working on the mixing together the wet ingredients.
She laughs and retorts, “It isn’t relaxing if you keep complaining.”
“My bad,” he says, and opens his mouth to say something but the mixer he was using backfires and covers his whole shirt in the flour. He coughs through the smoke of white flour.
“You look like the abominable snowman,” she chuckles, when the flour clears and she can see the flour covering his face and shirt. “You’re cleaning that up by the way.”
She goes back to mixing the wet ingredients when she feels the white powder hit the side of her face. She coughs it up and glares at him. “Hey, I am cleaning it up anyways why not make a little more mess,” he says with a shrug of his shoulders.
“What happened to “Craving fresh out of the oven cookies” and “wanting to experience a relaxing night of baking”?” she counters, while he’s distracted thinking up an answer she takes the bowl full of dry ingredients and dumps it over his head.
“Nesta Archeron, you just started a war you are not going to win,” he says, moving towards her side of the counter to shake his flour covered hair on her.
She squeals and quickly runs away from him. He chases her finally able to grasp her waist and pull her into his chest. “Come on Nes, I just wanted to give you a hug to tell you that I appreciate you trying to teach me how to bake.”
She struggles in his grasp, trying to free herself, but his grip around her waist tightens and he leans his head down to rest on hers allowing all the pile of flour on his head to dump onto her.
“I can not believe you just did that. Do you know how long this is going to take to get out of my hair?” she complains, finally pulling away from him just enough to be able to glare at him.
“How about next time you bake and I cook?” he asks.
“If it’s going to end like this, no thanks,” she says, gesturing to the mess surrounding them. “Besides, I can cook just fine for myself.”
He snorts in response. “Really? Is that why I constantly hear the fire alarms going off in here?” He can see the faint blush behind the white flour covering her face and smiles. “We make a make a great team. I’ll cook without setting the apartment on fire and you can bake without it looking like a tornado went off.”
She pauses and leans towards him. He thinks shes going to kiss him but she pulls away abruptly and he can see her shields going up. What happened to make her so guarded? “It’s late, I should clean this up and go to bed.”
“Oh yeah, of course,” he says, turning to start cleaning up the mess on the counter.
“I can do it, you should probably head back to your apartment anyways,” she says, he pauses before nodding and she can see the hurt on his face as he turns to leave.
Nesta continues to look over the edge, her thoughts full of what ifs. What if she allowed herself to kiss him. What if she wasn’t so guarded. What if she allowed herself to be happy. To be loved by someone not related to her. She quickly shuts them down. She didn’t kiss him and that was good. No attachment. If she did kiss him and it ended up not working out then one of them would have to find a new apartment.
“Nes?” Mor yells, Nesta turns just in time to see her new (sort of) friend in the doorway. Nesta was silently glad for the distraction. She did not want to make herself feel worse by thinking of “what ifs” “Feyre and Rhys are about to leave.”
           I-Think-We-All-Know-I-Am-Going-To-Continue-So-I-Won’t-Bother-                                            Trying-To-Be-Mysterious
Wow… two updates in one day. I am pretty proud of myself tbh
