On the Aboriginal flag, the black symbolises the people, the red the earth, and the yellow is the sun.
There is some controversy over ownership and copyright, but this land alway was always will be aboriginal land.

I live on Kaurna Country and promise to listen and learn about what I can do to contribute towards significant and lasting change that supports this land, it’s people - the traditional owners of this land, and their heritage. #healcountry #naidocweek #naidoc2021 #kaurnacountry @naidocweek @naidoc_sa (at Aldinga Beach) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ7mqzfDgYU/?utm_medium=tumblr

Our team at Autism Actually join in celebration and recognition of our diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and acknowledge they are the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. The theme of this week's @naidocweek is 'Heal Country', which encourages our community to seek greater protection for our lands and waters, and calls for a need for institutional, structural, and collaborative reform. You can learn more at the NAIDOC Week website at https://www.naidoc.org.au/ #NAIDOC2021 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #SovreigntyWasNeverCeded https://www.instagram.com/p/CRAjsEUs75q/?utm_medium=tumblr

LIS👏🏾TEN👏🏾 .... Black settlers on stolen Blak Lands ... LIS👏🏾TEN👏🏾 . . Posted @withregram • @houseleah it is interesting each year observing the themes for NAIDOC, seeing government and organisations preach something that they have zero intentions of delivering when the week ends. Heal Country has potential to unleash conversations that so many non Indigenous peoples are not ready to take on. So we find ourselves with yet another missed opportunity to burn this colony down. just as we did with last years theme, ALWAYS WAS ALWAYS WILL BE. How can we take a week of the year and acknowledge that these lands always were and always will be unceded Blak Lands. Then go right back to upholding the colony that occupies those Lands? at the end of the week, these beautiful themes are forgotten by government and mainstream organisations. HEAL COUNTRY is overdue, our Lands have been stolen, raped, poisoned, destroyed, violated in every conceivable way. our Lands will not heal without being returned to the people’s that have taken care of the Lands since time immemorial. the sooner australiar accepts this and gets real the sooner we can actually heal our Lands, our people and our futures! NAIDOC doesn’t exists to make us feel better, it is and always has been an acknowledgment of the crimes committed against our people. We celebrate our survival and ongoing resistance but we know exactly why we have had to fight to survive and know what has been lost (Lands, lives, cultures, languages, waters, futures) along the way and that isn’t overshadowed by the positive spin government and mainstream organisations put on it. hope all my mob have a week full of love and resistance. pic from the staunch @lyndajcoe32 #NAIDOC2021 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ-3IdhDKRE/?utm_medium=tumblr

Repost from @angelrileyart: This right here (The man on the left holding the sign) is my GG grandfather William ‘Bill’ Ferguson. He was one of the greatest, most inspiring Aboriginal rights activists in Australian history. He founded the Aboriginal Progressive Association and led protests at the 1938 National day of Mourning. He dedicated his life to improve Aboriginal rights and equality for us all. He was a legend, a hero & one of the most pivotal activists & politicians for our people. There is a reason I have a fire within my soul, and a voice that has no limits when it comes to who I am and what I believe in, it’s my ancestors who ignite those flames and keep this passion and voice raring strong. Today I think about you G pa Bill, I salute the bravery and strength you had to fight for what you knew was right, to stand against all odds and battle the impossible, you created ripples of hope and change & for you we will see it turn into waves. We’re still fighting. ✊🏽 #naidoc2021 Swipe to see Angel's stunning artwork Yiray (Sun) 💙 #bluethumbartist #homeofaustralianartists https://instagr.am/p/CQ-0tS_lkbb/

Posted @withregram • @naidocweek Happy #NAIDOC Week! The theme this year is Heal Country. Country is more than a place. Country is family, kin, law, lore, ceremony, traditions, and language. Healing Country means embracing First Nation’s cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia's national heritage. The right to protect Country and culture is fundamental. Destruction and desecration of our sacred lands or ancient sites - some of the oldest human occupation sites on the planet – is an enormous loss for both our nation and the world. But to truly heal Country we have more to do. #NAIDOC2021 #NAIDOCWeek #HealCountry https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ9b6kVjpso86uR_qYAyAkW2157pIJtr-eWRtE0/?utm_medium=tumblr

National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) has a week of celebration, and if you look closely you’ll see the change of flag on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Many people believe it should fly 52 weeks a year.
