Thing on my mind:

I can't help but think of the character of Nakuri or rather the potential this character has.

Like i've read a lot of fic with Kayn (mainly with ships but eh) and i can' help but think that Nakuri is character that can have an real impact in Kayn's life in SOOOO many way.

Because i think he should be part of the package, like you include Zed and/or Akali in some type way in Kayn's life, you should add Nakuri too.

I mean he is present in both Kayn's short stories: in the first one in the canon universe, Nakuri is also an apprentice and get in the way in the mission to retrieve Rhaast, he is like a rival. Meanwhile in the second short story, set in the odyssey universe, he is not only a commander under Kayn but is also AN OLD FRIEND. THAT is an important and very interesting point.

Because in the canon universe, Nakuri is dead (at least that we can assume that) so he's not revelent but in alternative universe? Damn the possibilites are insane! (i think he died in the odyssey too not sure)

You can give different role to him and depending on how close you make them, he has a more or less important impact on Kayn's life.

Nakuri can be a rival, a childhood friend, past lover etc and in the heartsteel au he can be part of Kayn's pevious band (i've seen that quickly) and you just had to add his death or betrayal in the mix and you get ✨traumatised Kayn✨. And you have like no information about him that he is almost like a blank sheet that you just have to fill

I also like the idea that in canon Kayn probably didn't feel an ounce of guilt when he killed Nakuri while in any alternative universe you can make him feel different level of griefs and probably guilt if he played any role in his death

i'm not a writer lol but like here are a few exemples (and i know some writers like to make the characters suffer)

modern au :

-they were close friends in highschool 🏫

option 1 : nakuri + betrayal = kayn got trust issues

option 2 : nakuri + death by accident +more or less play a part in it kayn= broken and guilty kayn

-they were lovers ❤️

you can applied the previous options

option 3: nakuri + toxicity= broken/traumatised kayn

-enemies to friend to lovers to dead💀

-He was Kayn's crush💔

option 1: he rejected Kayn like an asshole

option 2: he played with Kayn's feelings

I dont think a lot of people have read Kayn's short stories OR people don't think Nakuri is that useful as a character and maybe thats why Nakuri barely appear anywhere (i think its more the second lol or they just forget about him). Anyway i just really needed to get this all out, its not a big deal but the idea have been taking all the space in my head dancing and twirling

so i guess thanks if you have read this far, its just random thoughts

Kayn/Akali -- 1,251 words, 1/2 chapters

Warnings/tags: modern/college au, established relationship, comfort/no hurt, drinking

Akali thought that maybe, just maybe, she could get one night without her boyfriend doing something stupid and pulling on her leg to help him get out of it. She was proven wrong when her phone started vibrating at two in the morning.

Modern/College AU scenario where Kayn gets super drunk with his friends and Akali has to rescue him.

It's been 84 years but here I am. A new bi4bi m/f ship has caught my attention and now you all have to suffer through it. If you follow me on Twitter (@/creeperpit) you know I have been on my Kayn agenda for a while and I believe he is a pathetic little man who deserves love. If you disagree you are wrong.

The interruption to her sleep annoyed her enough. But if he was calling this late, it must’ve been for a reason—which became abundantly clear when his slurred speech came over the speakers.

“Heyyyyyy,” 

Akali is too tired to hide her exasperation with this man. “What’s going on?”

“I’m kinda… very… very drunk right now,” he says slowly, like he isn’t sure what he’s saying, which checks out. When she listens closely, she can make out faint party music and men speaking over each other in the background.

Of course. It’s a Friday night, and he’s a 21-year-old guy in his first year of college.

“How much did you drink?”

There’s a silence—at least, a pause. Not a single thing on the other end of the line is silent —before Kayn answers her. “...All of it?”

“What?”

“I don’t know!” he shouts, pauses, then readjusts his volume. “There were shots, and they gave me shots, so I drank them, and then there were no more shots.”

“And why would you do that?”

“Nakuri said it would be fun.” his voice turns quieter, like a toddler being scolded for coloring on the walls.

“Nakuri’s an idiot.” 

An old highschool friend of Kayn’s that followed him into the same university. Akali’s met him once or twice, enough times to form the impression that he wasn’t nearly the star student his friend was, and she’s heard enough notable stories to confirm it. 

From the other end of the line, Kayn doesn’t answer except for a murmur that sounds vaguely like an agreement. His quiet tone brings to her attention the sounds of frat boy shenanigans; they’re far away, muffled, like he’s tucked himself in some remote corner of the house to have a safe place to call her.

Akali sits up in her tiny twin bed, rubs the remnants of sleep out of her eyes, and sighs. “Do I have to rescue you?”

The words are sarcastic, as they usually are, but they carry a weight of sincerity with them. As lacking in sense as he may be, she still loves him, for some reason, and wouldn’t want him to be miserable in an unfamiliar place. Even if he fails to properly communicate that, as showed by his long sigh and simple, resigned, “Yeah”

“Alright. Give me a few.” she breathes out before proceeding to scavenge for the most readily available outfit, something that really says ‘I’m just here to pick up my drunk boyfriend, if you look at me I will seriously murder you’ and, really, just serves to cover her better than the sports bra she wears to bed. “Don’t fall asleep there, alright?”

Kayn gives a mumbled confirmation, and that’s all she needs before she’s grabbed her keys and on the road to his campus.

The effort she puts in for this man.

After the fairly lengthy drive between Akali’s apartment and the frat house Kayn had found himself in, she had to drag him out of a bathroom and through the crowd of people to get him into her car. But once he was there, he hadn’t fussed; they made it back with no problem, and no one tried to hit on her while she was there. 

Overall, she’d call the mission a success.

With an exhausted sigh, Akali hangs her keys while Kayn stumbles to keep himself on his feet. She has to stop him from stripping his shirt off in the doorway after murmuring something about being ‘hot as hell’ and leads him to her room instead. Kai wouldn’t let her hear the end of it if she found him passed out on the couch.

He’s already sprawled over her bed by the time she finishes dressing down again and nudges him over, only to receive a stubborn whine in return. She lets out a huff and shoves him with all of her exhausted so she can climb in. And as soon as she’s even got half of her body on the mattress, Kayn rolls onto her and nuzzles his head in her neck, lazily mouthing at her skin and leaving a light pink mark there. 

Akali tilts his chin up and runs a hand through his hair, a welcome touch that he melts into before leaning up for a kiss, which she gives to him gladly. The taste of alcohol shocks her a bit—stronger than she expected, but she doesn’t mind. Even if his kisses are sloppy and the taste burns, his lips are soft, and he surely doesn’t lack for enthusiasm with his hands wandering up her sides, wrapping around her waist before he pulls away with a stupidly blissful smile and presses his forehead to hers.

“You are so pretty,” he slurs while he struggles to keep his own head up—and fails, burying his face back into the crook of her neck, trailing kisses along her shoulder with light grazes of his teeth. 

Akali laughs and runs her hand through his hair, lightly scratching his scalp, like petting a cat. “Hey, easy.”

He groans in complaint, but the soft touches ease him as he nestles into her, and his breathing slows to a steady, comfortable pace. Probably the most peaceful she’s ever seen him. As soon as she’s almost sure that he’s asleep, he murmurs against her skin—although the words are barely comprehensible.

“Thank you.”

“Of course,” she whispers, with a kiss pressed to his shoulder. “I wasn’t gonna leave you with a bunch of drunk college dudes.”

He breathes in deep, takes in her scent, and sighs it back out as absolute satisfaction, warmth on her neck. She can feel him smile. This time, when he speaks, it’s much quieter, slurred together, but it’s something she’s heard from him so many times she knows it just from the movement of his lips; “I love you.”

“I know.”

“So much.”

“I know, honey.” Akali says, barely a whisper. His warmth and weight and the feeling of his heart beating against hers softens her. She lets herself sink into the moment. The sound of both their breathing washes over her. 

In the morning, he’ll probably be gone. She’ll drive him back up to his campus where he has a place, other friends, and something to make out of himself. She’ll see him off and he’ll give her the same smile he always does, warm and humorous and only slightly oblivious, and she’ll act like it doesn’t ache to see him go where she has no idea what he could do or who he could talk to until the next night like this where he calls for her rescue. 

But he called her, didn’t he? Amid his new life without her, where he probably had plenty of people to bring him home, he thought of her first. That’s enough for her to set her worries aside for now.

For now, it’s just them. Him at his most vulnerable, and her more so than she’ll ever let on.

She can’t help the way her voice wavers as she wraps her arms tight around him and mutters back into his shoulder.

“I love you, too.”

if you look at the comic, zed had a considerable number of people with him when he went back to the temple for the tears. he does suggest in the comic "most of my followers are boys, really. like kayn, raised by the war." the order definitely has some other adults, men and women that, like zed, left the kinkou (or who joined them during the war, when they worked with the navori brotherhood more closely)

zed is the order's master and leader, but he isn't the only. there are others who have the title of master, though they still answer to him. in lor, there's mistress shi, for example, and i'm sure there are others.

not every new yánléi pupil, then, is necessarily studying under zed. this little guy in lor, for example, is implied to be shi's pupil instead. other cards, like ren's, don't make it clear who's their mentor (though i'd assume ren is one of zed's too).

other than kayn and ren, he had jovn and tarak (both killed by jhin in the comic), nakuri (from the blade of millennia story), the still unnamed shadow assassin (who has a dying line saying master and the interaction with zed where he calls her an apt pupil), possibly royce (difficult to say, but he was also a noxian child soldier who apparently went to the order bc of kayn, so i'm assuming he went to kayn's dad to be adopted too), and yusari (who specifically wanted zed to train him because of what the yánléi did against the vastaya) as pupils. there are probably more, and some that likely weren't picked up as kids — but to any that were, i do think zed is a father figure on top of a teacher.

there's a part of the comic's narration where he says "most of my followers are boys, really. like kayn, raised by the war. when the foreigners invaded, after they lost everything, they became warriors. they know nothing else. this is what separates them from normal people." i think, in a way, it highlights that these kids are fit for the order because war was all they've ever know. they were already victims of terrible things that shaped who they are, and in turn are capable of doing the terrible things his order needs to do. at the same time, it is directly related to how much he still cares — it's the kids raised by war, who have nothing and no one, that he's picking up and giving a home and a purpose to (and imo, and in regards to my portrayal, he does care about them, they're not just tools, he values them while they're there and does mourn their losses when he loses them).

kayn is obviously closer to him than any other (he trusts him with so much and while i think he cares for all of them i don't think any of the others is on the same level. you know, how like when you're either the eldest or the most responsible and a parent sort of relies on you for some things.), but he's not the only one zed would consider his child. but i imagine not every pupil would have this sort of relationship with him necessarily, either — some might just end up forming a closer bond with other people in the order while still respecting and looking up to zed as their master. i am standing by that last post and saying the shadow assassin girl is also his daughter though.

En el marco de Septiembre, Mes de la Matria

Nakury, la activista costarricense del hip-hop, dará un concierto en La Nana, Fábrica de Creación e Innovación

** Invitada por el Consorcio Internacional Arte y Escuela A.C., se presentará el 14 de septiembre, a las 18:00 horas. La artista –que usa la música hip-hop para acercarse a comunidades de mujeres en Centroamérica y México-- impartirá el Taller de Rap Aplicado el día 13 del mismo mes, de 16:00 a 19:00 horas; ese día, le antecede la Sesión de Grafitti “Pintando por la Matria”, de 12:00 a 19:00 horas

Desde la fundación de La Nana, ConArte ha reunido a la comunidad de Hip Hop en su sede La Nana, y se ha convertido en un referente para la práctica del break dance y de las disciplinas que se desarrollan alrededor de este fenómeno cultural en la Ciudad de México.

ConArte ha preparado el evento Septiembre, mes de la Matria, que se integrará por una Sesión de Grafitti que tiene por nombre “Pintando por la Matria”, la cual se llevará a cabo de las 12:00 a las 19:00 horas; y el Taller de Rap Aplicado, impartido por la activista costarricense Nakury, a realizarse de las 16:00 a las 19:00 horas, en la misma fecha.

Y el día 14 de este mes, dentro de Septiembre, Mes de la Matria, a las 18:00 horas, se llevará a cabo el concierto: Rap por la Matria, en el que se presentará la activista y rapera costarricense, en La Nana, Fábrica de Creación e Innovación.

Nakury usa el rap y el baile hip-hop como medio de cambio social, para impulsar el arte en los jóvenes. Ella viene a México para participar en la Cumbre de Latinoamericana Rap en la UNAM Morelia, compartiendo experiencias con otras gestoras culturales y haciendo conciertos.

Natasha Campos –nombre de pila de Nakury– ya ha estado en México trabajando en el proyecto “Somos guerreras”, que pretende documentar las comunidades hip-hop de Latinoamérica y el rol de las mujeres en ellas. Ella es gestora cultural, directora del festival Union Break Dance, productora visual y activista.

Nakury usa la música hip-hop para acercarse a comunidades de mujeres en Centroamérica y México, como una herramienta más que un fin, para que las voces de resistencia encuentren un amplificador en su música.

El primer contacto de Nakury con la cultura hip-hop fue a los 13 años (en el 2002) con los grafiteros que rondaban Curridabat --cantón situado en el centro-norte de la provincia de San José, en Costa Rica--. Junto a los nombres Mush, Sneak y PSK apareció una marca que decía Blaer.

Nakury era la única mujer en el grupo y esas sesiones de pintura le cambiaron la vida. Desde ese momento inició un vínculo con la cultura hip-hop que no ha roto. Ella habla del hip-hop no como género musical sino como un movimiento que reúne tres disciplinas que nacieron en las calles: grafitti, break dance y rap.

Chasing

Nakuri looked up at the sky, lying against Takahiro. A clear night- they figured that such a lovely night was a rare treat, a rare time to think about themself, the world, and all the workings within and out of.

Takahiro was happily resting, Nakuri was happy, and so Takahiro was as well. She wanted little more than Nakuri’s happiness.

“I don’t get it myself,” They admitted, a confession, an excuse that they wish to give to all those they’ve left behind, knowing they’d never get the opportunity. “I have this… urge,” they grimaced at their own wording, “Like… when you’re thirsty, you have an urge to drink water,” it didn’t feel fitting, but it was close enough, “And… I just have that urge, but it’s to… go somewhere. I don’t really ever know where I’m going, I just go in a direction, and keep going as I feel like I have to.”

How selfish they sound- how… careless. They dread it, but it was so overwhelming, they didn’t know what else to say.

“And… when I follow that urge, it feels so… good. I feel… happy, with myself,” their hands moved to their stomach, resting over it, “Like nothing happened. My body doesn’t hurt as much, and it feels like… since I started travelling, I’ve been getting better. My skin isn’t so tight, the scars seem faint, and…!”

Their arms, dramatically, flopped to their sides, “I don’t know. I feel happy when I travel, when I follow that urge. I don’t feel sick…”

Nakuri turned their head to look at Takahiro- her eyes bright, watching Nakuri attentively… perhaps she was smart enough to know this was important to them, and wanted to listen.

What a good girl.

“You know, I always felt sick,” they said, softly, “I wasn’t supposed to, you know… live. I was born too early, too weak, too sick… and I felt like- i felt like I never really got better. I just… Was walking the flat path, no hills, no creeks, nothing. It just went on, and everything felt so numb, I almost wanted to feel worse, just so I could remember what feeling good felt like…”

Nakuri weakly lifted their arm, gently grabbing Takahiro’s snout, the hound huffing through her nostrils in response, wiggling her head the slightest bit, but not enough that Nakuri couldn’t keep holding.

“And when I travel, it’s like I’m going up, up, up… It’s- it’s exhausting, but it’s also exhilarating… especially when I reach the top of the mountain, I’m in a place I should fear, but…”

Their arm, slowly, had relaxed and went down to the ground once again,

“I feel so good. I feel so… happy… I dare say healthy- I feel like…!” They reached up to the stars, “I feel like I can do anything, I feel like I never was sick!”

And then… they moved their hands down, resting it on their stomach.

“But… It’s lonely, and then I remember what it’s like to be sick. And then it doesn’t feel as good- I wake up, only with Takahiro…”

She looked at her.

“And, don’t get me wrong, Hirohiro… I love you, you’re my little baby… But I feel lonely. I feel sick. And only moving again to wherever that urge brings me… I can feel a little better, but… I remember everyone I’m leaving behind, carelessly…”

They close their eyes, and shift to lie on their side, all but snuggled up to Takahiro,

“And I realize I’m alone again. But…” They sigh, and push their face into Takahiro’s fur, their next words muffled, and for good reason, with how choked up they are…

“I guess I’m awful selfish for wanting both.”
