i’ve got two zhongli origin theories
1. he’s a fallen star or a piece of the sun that fell in teyvat or a sun god/solar chariot
2. hes a servant of celestia but was banished/demoted for disobedience
theory 1 is an old theory but i always feel he’s an astral body of some sorts “planet befall” is his burst name “stars dim light fades” is his namecard description “gold is the tears of the sun” this is what the melusines say after being handed a piece of cor lapis the fact the solar chariot crashed when rex lapis was young and then zhongli is always symbolized by the sun with gold as his signature item. All the other archons (ei, rukkha, nahida, furina etc) are represented by the moon as are many other deities or divinities (azhdaha, guizhong, xiao and ganyu) zhongli is one of the few immortals to fully embody the sun
theory 2 has more to do with his connections to celestia. while super subject to change and not at all reliable i always think about one of zhongli’s beta lines is about celestia and he speaks very fondly of it stating he hasn’t been there is a long time next is the mora he produces with the triquetra symbol associated with celestia
then in chinese it states zhongli was demoted 6000 years ago when he arrived in teyvat as opposed to the eng version of ‘descended’.
In his 5th character story prior to rukkha getting erased it stated that barbatos and morax were the only original members of the seven and now it states that they were the only two in positions of leadership but isn’t that the same thing? not to mention barbatos fell asleep the same time nahida was born so in reality of the original 7 only rex lapis was in a position of leadership and then in the same text later down it still says that “The seven seats changed and again were changed, till five of the seven at the table were all departed” but if he really forgot rukkha shouldn’t it be four not five? this section of text is the same pre and post sumeru so long story short i think he remembers rukkha to some extent so he didn’t come straight from tevyat
and then even though he states he’s eroding he is very confident in his memories likely due to his contracts so i think erosion effects him differently and then their is his connection to the heavenly principles he specifically states erosion was imposed on him by them and then he praises furina for deceiving them and then there is his contract with them that stops him from talking about the cataclysm all in all i believe he’s familiar with the heavenly principles on a deeper level like he’s playing both sides
bonus: i think it’s neat zhongli is always associated with life and creation much like celestia (and the sun), he gave azhdaha eyes and created the archaic petra flower he created whales and eagles and beasts made of stone granted the adepti illumination and a mastery over alchemy
bonus bonus: morax was alive during the age of the 3 moon sisters and there are few stories were it’s implied he mentions them directly anyway this just means he’s far older than 6000 and has lived through numerous tevyat societies so he’s got a very long lifespan not as much as an elemental being but he knows far more about this world
bonus bonus bonus: zhongli’s 6th constellation is “Chrysos, Bounty of Dominator”. Chrysos is latin but is borrowed from ancient greek meaning Gold (Khrysos). Khrysos is a daimon which are lesser divinities in greek mythology and often a personification of abstract concepts. Daimons were great and powerful figures who after their death were granted divinity and some were transformed by Zeus to guide humanity. Khrysos is son of Zeus and the personification of gold and wealth ‘that cannot be devoured by moth or rust’. Son of Zeus? Free of impurities? Tasked with guiding humanity? Very similar to the relationship to the archons and celestia and could mean zhongli has very divine origins.
anyway that’s what i got, as to what he *is* maybe he’s a celestial dragon that got demoted.
or i think about heavenly chinese immortals who, when they commit crimes, or want to grow as a person, may be sent to the human realm to go through trials and suffering that comes with living and guess what zhongli does in his free time.
May he’s a piece of the sun that crashed down in teyvat and got assigned godhood hence his dedication to the future and seeing a new day

CARRD TEMPLATE #10: GENSHIN WIKI PAGE / demo / $10
Oogh oof my brain after working on this ... but if you've ever wanted your own wiki page layout for a carrd, look no further! This is a single-muse focused carrd template for roleplaying which is centered around the Genshin Impact wiki page (but of course you can repurpose it for other wiki pages). This is quite image and information heavy, but you can remove and add sections as is needed for your character (hell, merge the lore stories into just one big chunky background section if you'd like to).
HOW TO’S / INFO
— please do not remove the credit from the carrd regardless of how much you change it / frankenstein it. same case for please do not resell or redistribute it. — comes with a rules tab, about page with a lot of sub-pages (lore, voice-lines, bonds aka exclusives and mains, and verses). single-muse focused. — all the images will need replacement, and images may need manual adjustment for size vs content. — as a heads up, the header container uses the same image as the background to create the illusion of transparency. — you can find all the images used for the logo + background (and some alt backgrounds!) + quote backgrounds etc etc in this Google Drive folder. front page images, namecard, constellation, about page, and specific skill icons are not provided (though there is a placeholder one in the folder). — relatively mobile friendly.
if you have a pro-lite+ carrd account, you can get the template here! i also have a lite version that's for base plans too.
(if you’d like to upgrade, you can use my referral code ASURAIDART as well)

Hi, glad to see you're doing well! For the gamer!Xiao hcs, how about him being a Genshin streamer or just a regular gamer, and genshin!reader is his favorite character?
THATS SO CUTE ASDGFKLDGH MY TIME HAS COME
alright going to scream with this one
I have to update my masterlist with these soon
he's probably one to focus more on weapons and strategy than characters, imo
he's not a metaslave, I think, because he's quick to figure it out on his own
he doesn't really follow the pity system, but sometimes he'll wish on the limited banners if he wants specific constellations
i'm not going to automatically assume you're a five star in case you're like me and preferring to be a much-beloved four star (think benny) instead
you're worth all the stars in my heart, reader
anyway
if you are a five star, you're likely one of his first
either way, he really likes your kit
if it's something like polearm or sword or anything like his in-game kit, he'll enjoy playing it because it feels like you're helping him out
rather than feeling like he's controlling you, he feels like you're working together
if it's something else, he'll like it because it gives him a chance to learn your skills and work with you
the challenge helps get him closer to you
he doesn't like to talk about it but he's really really attached to you and you only
he could honestly stare at you for hours
sometimes he'd take a party of just you to your favorite spot in-game (or perhaps his) and just kinda gaze at you
he has gotten teary-eyed because you don't really exist and can't give him that cute smile or put crystalflies in his hair with a soft and loving touch yea im projecting what are you going to do? cry about it?
he loves your voice in every dub but most likely uses that of his native language solely so that he can agree with you or react to your weather lines
he thinks your idles are really cute and he hates accidentally interrupting you
he loves listening to your voicelines
he wants to learn everything about you
literally he raced up friendship ranks
he got sad once he unlocked all your lines
he uses your namecard and pfp
he absolutely swooned when you said ascension and friendship lines aloud
is constantly promising to never leave you benched ever
literally mentally apologizes when he has to take you off the team
same
when you die he fights harder to avenge you with the other characters
you've managed to worm your way into his heart, and eventually you're constantly on his mind
he initially thought it was for strategy
now it's just lore stuff
when he's upset, he thinks of you and how you might react
he's constantly searching for you x reader fics because he wants to feel close to you
hes also constantly getting frustrated because he disagrees with others' characterization because his idea of you is so specific
eventually he'll take a step back and realize that his specific idea of you might not have been right? hes a lil stubborn we know this
his friends tend to tease him about it and he hates it
whatever the case, he loves you a lot and he hates to go anywhere without you
he's grateful every day that he was able to get you and start this journey
and perhaps, somewhere in the world of the game, you are too

I watched both the Chinese and English version of the trailer. I watched the Chinese version first, and then English so that I could get at least what was translated- even if it’s sometimes rough or not as accurate as the original.
I think I first want to talk about what caught my attention the most, which was Yae calling Raiden “Ei”. I assume it’s another name for her, seeing as (leak warning!) “Ei” is also used in the description of Raiden’s namecard. Credits to @/jhorliearts on Twitter for this, but they posted a tweet that says: “so my friend said..The "Ei" of "Raiden Ei" does not mean "eternity(永遠)", it means "shadow(影)" in Chinese. there's so many things to consider now…” and went on to list a theory they had afterwards, but I found the meaning of “Ei” in both Chinese and Japanese interesting.
Raiden’s constellation “Imperatrix Umbrosa” is said to translate to “Shadow Empress” fitting with the Chinese translation of “Ei”, while we all know how heavily Raiden’s character centers around Eternity. What leaves me questioning is how did “Ei” come to be? We know that “Raiden” was given to her by the people of Inazuma and that “Shogun” is her title. We also know that “Baal” is the name given by Celestia, like “Morax” and “Barbatos”, so I wonder if “Ei” a sort of equivalent to “Zhongli” and “Venti”?
I’m also curious about the situation regarding Kujou Sara and the Resistance/Fatui. I have no doubt that Sara is absolutely loyal to Raiden, but in the trailer a Resistance troop mentions that Sara was “colluding with the Fatui”. It also mentions how the Resistance and Shogunate were having “peace talks” as Kokomi put it. I’m excited to learn more regarding this, especially since I had honestly thought Kokomi would be the one that worked with the Fatui given all the in game clues.
Also, the Kazuha vs Baal and Aether vs Baal fight it going to be extremely interesting to see! As well as how Signora and Scaramouche are going to come into play. It’s crazy to think that all of this content will be finished in a single act!
I have more I want to mention, but they didn’t take place in the trailer, and rather a few minutes down the line when they showed sneak peaks (specifically dialogue) for the upcoming act. I want to ask if you have watched the stream before I discuss them?
Whoops, I just realized I forgot to put my signature at the end of that last ask. 😅 That was me! -Baal anon
so i need to preface this by saying that i do not watch the english versions of anything if i can help it, so my perspective is only from the chinese side.
.
i have a different perspective on the part about 'ei'. yae said smth along the lines of 'you don't think that you can win over [ei]'s will just by your wishes, do you?'
notice 【影】, or [ei], was in quotes. because of that, i don't think that ei is baal's 'name', per se. it seems more that 【影】 is a Thing or substance that is sentient, maybe even taken hold of someone or something (perhaps baal 👀).
although i will say, the opening line of her namecard also says 不仅是影,也不只是将军 (not only 'ei', yet not only shogun), which makes me think that 'ei' could be her name. nonetheless, it does also evoke the whole 'ei is something non-material within baal', so i will continue with that belief until things are confirmed.
i will trust you on baal's constellation, but i also have to remind you that her constellation in chinese is 天下人, or 'people under the sky'. in particular, her last constellation (c6) is called 负愿前行 (shouldering wishes and going forward). in addition, one of her passives is called 万千的愿望, or 'wishes of a thousand [people]'.
and this is part of the description for her burst:
Tumblr media
(gathering thousands of truths, using the powers of numerous wishes of visions, [she] cuts a slash to shatter all curses; source)
her description in chinese (you know how zhongli is vago mundo/尘世闲游 etc etc?) is 一心净土 (a heart of pure land) where 净土 (pure land) is a concept in buddhism. as it sounds, the concept of 'pure land' is a land where everything is peaceful and good and there are no sorrows (someone please fact check me because i don't know much about buddhism).
gathering the above, i think that baal is genuinely just trying to protect her people. maybe she's going about it in a way that makes others suffer, or maybe there's something about it that she can't tell the general public, but in general, i don't think she's 'bad' in the traditional villain way.
.
regarding kokomi, i think you mentioned before that baal slayed orobashi, which had been worshipped by the people on (kokomi's home's island i'm very sorry idk what it's called in english), so there's a chance that kokomi's leading the rebellion for personal reasons.
i think that's very very likely, otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned it. but whether or not her feelings will lead her to... other things, that remains to be seen LOL.
i think there's something weird about sara and the fatui. obviously, the cut in the trailer was to make you start doubting sara and her motives, but as a storyteller, i think it's hilarious to do smth in the story but portray it in the summary or whatever as totally different. it's a very cute twist, and obviously i can't speak for all storytellers, but i guess i'm just expecting it to be a different situation than we think right now.
.
i think it's very funny how signora's behind everything AGAIN. like, for real, just watch her end up being revealed as the tsaritsa HAHAHA.
okay, but for real, i want to talk about scaramouche. at the end, he says smth like, 'yes, it's exactly like this. eternity can stretch out time by a lot, but every point in the middle will be extremely weak'.
and man, doesn't that imply a lot? to me, at least, that says that baal has been using her power to freeze inazuma's time in place. remember how earlier in the trailer, it was mentioned that some people in the resistance have been aging rapidly? maybe one of the points has been broken through, so baal's hold on time has weakened at that place and now people are aging rapidly, either as they should have in the first place, or unnaturally because the flow of time has been totally disrupted.
that would also explain why baal sealed off inazuma. something happened so that either she needed to or wanted to stop time, but to prevent anyone from noticing and/or speaking about it, she had to close the borders.
but what exactly happened? well, it's only been a year since she closed borders, so we can assume that whatever happened took place around that time, +/- a year or so. so here's the timeline from the wiki:
Tumblr media
baal then closes borders, varka goes on an expedition, diluc returns, and then come the events of the manga (which you may want to take with a grain of salt due to continuity errors):
Tumblr media
(source)
so, unless whatever happened was totally contained within inazuma, we can assume that one of these events (directly or indirectly) caused baal to close borders. and of course, keeping in mind that the manga's timing is not entirely accurate and likely happened after baal closed borders.
.
edit: before anyone reads this i just want to say that yae = sus!!!!! her mannerisms in the trailer, wheewwww boy!
.
it IS crazy how things are going to wrap up in one more act! but also i thank the mihoyo gods for it because i don't have the time or patience to sit through any more filler content LOL.
and yes i have watched the livestream. might not have been paying much attention but i'll probably know enough for you hehe.
