NaruHina - Spy AU

1. Naruto and Hinata are both spies from the same spy training academy but Naruto sucks at being a spy. He is the clumsiest and insists on wearing this eye-bleeding shade of orange whenever he's on a mission and naturally doesn't do a good job of blending in. He has a complex about being the best spy EVER and shouts this out loud...a lot. Again, so many covers blown, so many times.

Hinata is so quiet, she blends in with the furniture and no one notices her, so she's much better at the job than Naruto. A higher-up (Kakashi? Tsunade? I think both...) decides to rein in Naruto and hopefully salvage any missions he's on, and assigns Hinata as his partner.

2. This backfires HORRIBLY...because Hinata has been in love with Naruto for years and becomes a clumsy mess around him too.

3. Naruto and Hinata are assigned to infiltrate the criminal group Akatsuki, and Naruto is so over-the-top about being the best spy dattebayo that no one in the group believes he is a real spy...refuge in audacity works for him. Hinata is also assumed to be a harmless little thing ("why are you even in a criminal group?") and gathering info is pretty easy for her.

4. Against all odds and with the help of inside agent Itachi, they successfully bust the criminal gang.

5. They get married with Naruto wearing a bright orange tuxedo and Hinata wearing a bright orange wedding gown. Naruto's former teacher Iruka is crying in joy that his beloved student is getting married and also crying in rage that he insisted on a bright orange theme for the wedding.

NaruHina - Space Travel AU

Astronaut Naruto forces the space travel director Kakashi to give astronauts dehydrated space ramen and furthermore to make that everyone's meal all the time. The other astronauts in the program hate him.

It proves a hit with the general public. Dehydrated ramen sales have never been higher. Naruto accidentally started a cult around dehydrated space ramen.

He tries to moon walk and trips.

He suggests a trip to Mercury or perhaps Venus on a TV talk show and is gently reminded that humans would die if they ever went to those planets. Not to be dissuaded, he begins suggesting trips to Neptune, Pluto, and the Andromeda Galaxy.

One day, scanning the newspaper, his eyes catch a headline, "Young lady beats astronaut's record for most dehydrated cup ramen consumed in one sitting." He makes it his mission to track her down. Then begins a whole other story...

Do you still make NH fanfics? I really miss your writing.

I have quite a number of wips in my drafts, but it’s been difficult finding inspiration and motivation to finish them. I am still working on them just- very, very…. very slowly. I’m sorry I haven’t written anything for them in a while! You’re always welcome to send me a prompt! Otherwise, I highly recommend checking out @utsus for your NH fic fix! In the meantime, here’s a piece from spy au I was writing so long ago! (Unedited, so sorry for any mistakes!) 

The hallway is quiet, almost unnaturally so. The plush carpet soaks up any sound her heels and his shoes would’ve made and the loudest presence on the floor are the ostentatious wall sconces that brilliantly light the simple, but expensively furnished hallway of the hotel. The silence and the stillness are both a blessing and a curse.

Naruto gently taps Hinata’s shoulder and when she looks back at him, he hand signals whether or not she can see anyone coming. She closes her eyes, refocuses, and when she opens them again, the lenses that Tenten designed specially for her activates. She scans the hallways and peers around the corner but the only heat source she can see is Naruto at her back, though she doesn’t need to see him to feel his presence. He’s close enough that his front almost touches her bare upper back, the crisp folds of his suit gently ghosting over her skin.

She signals back. Coast is clear. And then she leads on, her eyes guiding them to their target: Room 511. She hates being in the open like this, even if the carpet and the walls render them both noiseless. It amplifies the sound of the hammering of her heart and the beats of her breath- but she knows that is adrenaline heightening her senses and sending her blood rushing. She focuses herself, clearing her mind until cool and sharp rationale grounds her again.

Naruto lifts a hand, brushes his palm against her bare shoulder, and squeezes gently in support before letting go. The brief connection comforts them both, when they’re so close to their goal, when they cannot afford to make a mistake now.

She freezes and he knows she’s seen someone. 

20 paces, coming fast is what she signs to him and he’s already moving before her fingers have even finished forming the last code. He pins her against the wall in the corner, his large frame covering hers entirely, his arms braced against either side of her. He bends his head down until she can peek over his shoulder, and when he turns his head slightly to whisper in her ear, his nose glides along the smooth wings of her hair and the soft curve of her ear.

“Are they gone?” Naruto breathes, and the hairs on the back of his neck prickle and his body is tense around her, every sense on alert for anything coming up behind him which he couldn’t see. His eyes are on her though, and she is so focused on what she is seeing down the hall that he can’t help but let his lips quirk up in just the slightest grin. He will always entrust her to watch his back in a heartbeat.

“He’s coming closer,” Hinata murmurs in reply, her lips barely moving. Her brow creases ever so slightly and Naruto can practically see the thoughts flying and forming and piecing themselves together in her mind. He’s not as surprised as perhaps he should be then when she turns her head slightly towards him, her nose brushing up against his in the lightest of accidental eskimo kisses, before asking, “May I kiss you?”

His eyes flicker immediately to her lips, lips he kept catching himself staring at, before meeting her eyes again and the heartbeat that passes between their locked gazes feels like forever, as heavy and light as a held breath before his eyes drop down again. 

He answers with a dip of his head, taking the plunge and then his lips are on hers.

Her hands immediately close around the lapels of his suit and she pulls him in closer, arching until her body is up against his and he groans at the feeling of her body pressed up against him. He slides his hands down from the walls until his arms wrap around her waist, his fingers splayed over her back, and she shivers in his embrace despite the fact that he is all warmth and heat around her.

The kiss is slow, just a touch hesitant as they sink into each other for the first time, but breathtakingly intimate in the way they press up against each other, in the way she can feel his heart pound under her hands and he can feel her pulse racing in time with his. Her lips are softer than he thought, softer than he’s dreamed, and he can’t help but catch her lower lip between his teeth, biting gently. Her breath hitches in her throat and the low moan that escapes her makes him lose all thought for just a moment.

Her silver eyes, warm and half-lidded, watch him so intensely that he doesn’t even realize he’s put a leg between hers, that he’s moulded herself to be as close to her as possible. His suit feels a size too small and her fingers are busy delving into his hair, lingering along his neck, sliding against his cheeks.

She makes it easy, for him to become lost in her.

His breath is hot, sweet as he breathes into her. She kisses back with a moan and a sigh, breathing back into him and the shared sensation leaves them both burning. Hinata’s eyes flicker past him and she giggles playfully all of a sudden, the only warning Naruto gets.

“Hey! Move along, this floor is off limits,” a gruff, disgruntled voice sounds behind him. There’s a light pop as Naruto slowly, reluctantly pulls his lips away from Hinata’s, but he still holds her close. He gives her the slightest of winks, his normally bright blue eyes still dark and sharp on hers, before a wide and sloppy smile stretches across his face. He stumbles back, turning to look at the unamused guard behind him.

The guard is the same height as him, more slender, almost feline in the way he holds himself, but his grey eyes are cold and calculating as he looks them over. Naruto sizes him up in a blink of an eye, knows how he would have to move to take him down. Hinata is doing the same thing next to him and Naruto’s grin grows bigger, knowing she is by his side and watching his back.

“Hey man!” Naruto crows, and Hinata is giggling and stumbling right along with him, her hands slipping and gripping as she tries to find her balance. Naruto anchors her to his side and gives the guard a disarming grin. “Off limits? Sorry, must’ve gotten off on the wrong floor.” He tosses a saucy wink at Hinata and she smiles flirtatiously back, leaning up to plant a lingering kiss along his jaw.

“Alright, alright, move along then,” the guard grunts, looking a little uncomfortable at their display.

“Going, going, gone!” Naruto laughs and then he’s pulling Hinata along back towards the elevator. She stumbles as her heels catch against the plush carpet and they hear the guard sigh behind them as Naruto fumbles in helping her up.

Hinata turns her head to peek back at the guard and smiles brilliantly at him, chuckling as he blinks back owlishly, stunned. She waves her fingers in a silly goodbye before she and Naruto stumble down the rest of the hall and into the waiting elevator. She wraps an arm around his waist and tilts her head up to kiss his neck and Naruto groans hotly, unsteadily as he jams the elevator button.

The guard’s watchful expression is the last thing they see before the doors close. When the elevator shudders and starts to move down, Hinata straightens up and even though she doesn’t remove her arm from his waist and he doesn’t move his hand from where it is buried in the curled ponytail over her shoulder, they’re quiet for a moment, catching their breaths and reigning in their racing hearts.

Hinata lifts her free hand to engage her earpiece and her movements are smooth and controlled, her mind back in the game.

“Shino,” she says, and she waits a moment to hear his voice on the other end. “Three guards in the hallway, though we only encountered one, and there are two more in the room. There’s definitely something in there. There was a blank spot in the room that I couldn’t read.”

“Noted,” Shino’s voice crackles back in her ear. “That is excellent news indeed. I’ll relay the information back to Kiba and we can establish a contact point. I shall keep you informed.” The line cuts and Hinata lets her hand fall, her fingers brushing against Naruto’s lightly.

She lets out a long breath and the success of their scouting catches up with her, the adrenaline making her body tingle and her throat hum. Room 511 is their confirmed lock and now they just need the right moment to apply the key. They are close, so close. It had been such a close call too, with the surprise appearance of the guard. She almost missed the opportunity to look into the room with her lens- but then Naruto gave her the perfect cover to stumble and trip and he bought her enough time to get the information they needed.

Hinata lets loose a laugh of relief and delight and when she sees Naruto tilt his head down to look at her, she can’t help but smile hugely, widely back, her elation and excitement overflowing until it thrums in her veins. She beams up at him, glad that she can share her happiness with him.

Naruto blinks once, twice at her unrestrained smile, and his heart starts racing again, faster than it had before. His fingers, still tangled in her hair, gently comb through her curls, and the back of his hand brushes against the impossibly soft skin of her shoulder. His breath catches at the shine in her eyes and he is so caught in her expression that the smile that grows on his face in response is so unconscious, so natural a reaction.

His smile is softer, subtler, but so sweet, gentle, and sincere. She’s not seen this smile before, not quite like this, and she pauses at the look in his eyes…

The elevator rings their stop and Hinata catches herself. She shakes her head clear, dismisses what she’s sure is just the heat of the moment. She drops her hands and blushes at how she held him, how she hadn’t let him go.

“Sorry, Naruto,” she clears her throat, but she still can’t help but give him a small smile.

“Nothing to be sorry for,” he replies, and his voice is raspier, deeper and Hinata has to keep herself from shivering, remembering how that rumble felt against her skin. His eyes, still that sharper deep blue, are focused so intensely on her that she feels like she’s the only person in the world.

He looks as if he’s seeing her for the first time and he opens his mouth to say-

The elevator door slides open and Sasuke is there, his dark eyes sweeping over them both before his voice cuts in, “Naruto, Hinata. Let’s get moving.” He doesn’t wait for their response, instead already turning and striding away to where Sakura is waiting with their ride.

Hinata glances quickly at Naruto, but the moment is gone. Still, his eyes linger on hers and there’s a promise in them that makes her feel so very bright and alive in his gaze.

He smiles at her again, gentle and soft, and laces his fingers with hers.

“C’mon, let’s go.”

day 2 - memories

8 am.

Right on time. Hinata smoothened her dress as she lined up on the railway platform along with the busy crowd. She smiled as her eyes laid on the familiar figure standing next to her. Small drops of sweat forming on his temple as he fixes his tie. She reached out for her red handkerchief and offered it to him.

“Running late again, Uzumaki-san?”

He looked at her, startled and obviously anxious before smiling real quick.

“Yeah… Umm…”

He hesitantly took the handkerchief as he patted away the remnants of his morning mess. For any other day, Uzumaki Naruto being late is not a big deal. Except for this one. He has a presentation today. This will dictate the fate of his promotion. Kakashi will be stepping down soon and he needs to prove to the executive board that no other employee deserves it better than him. And… it’s the day.

He looked at the girl standing beside him. Oh. Right. The handkerchief.

“Here, uhh, thanks.”

She smiled. The same smile she always gave him for the past few weeks.

“Train’s here. Same drop-off?”

She slowly shakes her head as they both make their way inside the train. A passenger trying to get a seat accidentally bumped Hinata. He immediately grabbed her by her shoulders and that all too familiar scent began to cloud his senses again. Damn. She always smells good. She smiled as she stood up straight. That same smile.

“I’m actually going to my doctor today.”

Hinata has always been a keen observer. One might miss the way his brows furrowed, eyes questioning, and the immediate lowering of the corner of his mouth, but not her.

“Oh. Are you sick?”

She let out a small laugh. Uzumaki-san is really kind. Very kind.

“I’m fine. It’s just my monthly check-up. How about you? Going to work?”

He seems to understand it but his eyes seem to look disturbed. He seems on edge.

“Yeah. Big promotion.”

Oh. So that may be it.

“And you wake up late again, I guess?”

He let out a gasp. Oh no. Did she say something wrong?

“How did you know that? A-are you…”

He leaned in closer and Hinata tried her best not to bump her index fingers together. And with a whisper, Naruto said

“Are you spying on me?”

Her eyes widened. The pink shade slowly dispersed on her pale cheeks. One of the things Naruto picked up from the past weeks of being Hinata’s friend is how easily Hinata gets flustered. Oh and also how cute she is when she blushes so he makes a mental note to add it in his routine.

“You’re mean, Uzumaki-san.”

“Am not.”

“Yes, you are.”

She chuckled as she softly hit him in the arm.

“Look at you hitting me. You are the mean one, Hinata.”

She shakes her head, disapprovingly. But then she smiled again. That same smile. The one he never thought he’d be looking forward to everyday.

“I’ll be dropping off at the next stop. Good luck on your presentation, Uzumaki-san.”

“Naruto. I told you to just call me Naruto.”

She just hummed and nodded. For a moment, Naruto wished the world could just stop for a little longer.

“Why won’t you let me see her?!”

“Not yet, son. The doctor said it is too soon. It might scare her. We don’t want her running away again.”

She was contemplating on going straight back home or visiting Kiba-kun’s pet cafe. Her little sister, Hanabi, told her that Kiba-kun is actually a long time family friend and there’s nothing to worry about. She just finished her knitting class today. Maybe she can give the knitted coaster to him as a peace offering? Well, she kind of acted rude the first time they met. In her defense, he forcefully embraced her. Being an unfamiliar face to her, she pushed him hard and screamed for help . Something she remembers from a self-defense ad. She momentarily closed her eyes, trying to fight the embarrassment. Yeah. Maybe next time. It’s too awkward right now.

She was supposed to go home but after passing a bakery, she just couldn’t resist the smell of cinnamon rolls assaulting her appetite. When she finally tasted what heaven feels like, aka, the cinnamon rolls, she thought she’ll be going home after. But here she is, walking towards the… she stops as she reads the sign.

“Hokage Rock”

Oddly, this place feels familiar to her. She is quite sure it is her first time there. Maybe this is what “where the wind takes you” feels like. Familiarity. Or maybe because this is just a quite serene place, overlooking the city. She always prefers this kind of energy. Quiet. Peaceful. Calm.

She almost gave up in the middle but something… her gut, or maybe her intuition, saying the view will be worth it. But boy what a tiring climb this is. Maybe she needs this. She’s been sleeping a lot and she had just down 2 orders of cinnamon rolls. Not to mention the 5 bowls of ramen she had at lunch. Yeah, she definitely needs this to burn some calories. And she isn’t wrong. The view is amazing. And the sky’s gradient as the sun slowly descends makes the moment feels like it is something pulled out of those museum paintings.

“H-hinata?”

She turned around and saw Naruto. He looked tired. Well, after all those treads, who wouldn’t? But his seems to be a different kind of tired. Something that can only be seen in the eyes. Something that you can’t hold but feel just as much.

“Oh, hi. I never thought you would go to a place like this. Isn’t your work at the other end of the city?”

“Right.”

He let out a chuckle. A fake one. Wait…

Oh no… Did he…

Did he not get the promotion?

Judging by the can of beer in his right hand, maybe he did not? And maybe he’s here to unwind and forget about it.

The uncomfortable silence is slowly eating her up inside. This is the longest time that she and Uzumaki-san have without talking. No jokes about his co-worker, Shikamaru or the hot-headed company nurse, Sakura. Silence. It’s just her, Uzumaki-san, and the rustling of leaves. She wants to go home but she can’t just leave him here alone.

Or maybe she could. Maybe he wanted to be alone. Maybe he is just waiting for her to leave?

She was about to say goodbye when he heard him let out a loud sigh before smiling, gaze still locked at the horizon.

“Say, Hinata… What are you feeling right now?”

“M-me? Right n-now?”

He nodded. What am I feeling right now?

“I… I feel… free.”

She turns his face at him and finds him looking at her. For the first time since he came. His eyes glistened, maybe it’s just her but he looks like he’s about to cry. She was not sure why but she felt the yearning that screams behind it.

“How about you, Uzumaki-san? What are you feeling right now?”

“Home... I feel like I’m home.”

Maybe it’s the wind or the way he looked at her, every time, with so much familiarity and certainty, with just so much.. so much of everything, that for a moment she almost felt like she’s… she’s home, too.

She looked up from her cup of ice cream and smiled. That same smile.

“No biggy.”

Naruto took one last scoop of his ice cream before throwing it in the trash. They are walking to the station and as dense as all his co-workers told him he is, he did not miss the confused stares from the people they pass by and the little giggle the girl next to him is eliciting every now and then.

“Okay. It’s either I had a kick me sign on my back or you all are going crazy. Which is it, Ms. Hyuga?”

She let out a soft chuckle before handing me her red handkerchief. Naruto looked at the fabric in her hands and back at her face. What’s that supposed to mean?

“Y-you have a chocolate in your n-nose.”

His eyes widened in horror. Since when did he have chocolate in his nose? They’ve been walking for 15 minutes already.

“Wow. And I'm the one who is mean.”

She let out a small chuckle again before reaching out for his face to wipe the chocolate. For a moment, Naruto felt like every gears in his head stopped working. She’s saying something but he’s been rendered mute by their sudden proximity to each other.

“Uzumaki-san? Did you hear me?”

“Uh.. Y-yeah. N-no. Sorry. What is it again?”

“I said, you can take it. Consider this my other gift.”

“T-take what?”

“The handkerchief.”

“O-oh. T-thank you, Hinata.”

“You’re welcome, Uzumaki-san.”

“Naruto.”

He corrected. She smiled and looked at him. Dearly. Just the way she always does.

“You’re welcome, Naruto-kun.”

“How long?”

He heard Hiashi sighed through the phone.

“They said it might be permanent. There’s no telling, Naruto.”

His grip on his phone tightened.

“Shouldn’t she be recovering here? This is where she grew up. She might remember more here. This is her home.” This is where I am.

“Naruto, they have more advanced medical care here. They can take better care of her here.” I can take care of her here.

“Naruto, I know it’s hard. But this is what is best for her. Take care of yourself, son. We’ll see you soon, okay?”

He kicked off his shoes but remembered how his wife glared at him whenever he would messily leave his shoes at their genkan so he walked back and neatly put them in line with his other shoes. It used to be mine and hers in there. A partner in everything. He put his keys on the bowl beside the vase. The one they made together.

He was about to wash up when he passed by his favorite moment of him and her. Sai gave it to them as a wedding gift. A small painting of him and her. That day in Hokage Rock. The day she said yes. The day he knew his life will never be the same again. The day he knew he had found his home.

Here are all the fics I am currently working on, I’m still trying to find a balance where I can update more regularly without sacrificing quality, I don’t know if I’d be able to work on more than 3-4 fics at a time, but I will probably be experimenting with having five or six on the go at some point – I do tend to get easily distracted and having more fics I can bounce between might actually be easier for me

False Starts – 

·        Kase-san fic

·        Pairings: KaseYama, Aroace!Mikawa, maybe others

·        AU setting, the girls never met at school and thus led very different lives, Kase went on to become a star sprinter, but, with her entire life revolving around athletics, as she grows older and her star fades, she finds herself lacking motivation and teetering on the edge of depression, meanwhile Yamada has done exactly what was always expected of her, going to a local college, taking a course she liked but didn’t love and eventually becoming a teacher, never realising the option to follow her passion was even available

·        Story follows Kase as she’s forced into a long-term ‘vacation’ back to her hometown to rehabilitate and rediscover her drive, while there she meets Yamada and they strike up a friendship and eventual romance, helping each other find out what kind of life they really want to live and realising that it’s not too late to try

·         Mid-to-long fic, mostly fluffy, slice-of-life romance, but with exploration of things like depression and mid-life crises, the girls will be about 32-34 in this, possibly a little older

Liquor Bottles and Ukuleles –

·        Pairings: ChoGaa, ShikaTema, SakuKarui, InoTen, ex-LeeGaa, ex-ChoKarui, Aro!Kank

·        Long-ish fic, college AU, Chouji is a happy but lonely student, who has accepted that he’ll never meet ‘The One’, until his best friends shove a cute redhead in his direction, mostly a fluffy romance fic, though there will be some drama

·        Blind!Gaara

·        Lots of close friendships (InoShikaCho, ChoKarui, ChoOmoi, ChoKaruOmoi, InoTema, Sand Sibs)

College AU –

·        Pairings: NaruGaa, HinaMatsu, possible others

·        Short fic, each chap split into two sections, one following Naru/Gaa and one following Hina/Matsu, though they will sometimes intersect, both pairs will be getting equal billing, mostly a sweet and fluffy fic, it might (Might) have some smut (mIGHT)

Ghost Hunter AU –

·        Another series, made up of short stories following a particular character/pairing

·        Pairings: NaruGaa, SakuIno, KakaGai, TemaTen, HinaOmoiCho, ShikaShino, KankFuu, possible others

·        Each fic will be standalone, but will reference other fics in the series (first in series will likely be NaruGaa, then SakuIno), Team 7 are a gang of ghost hunters who travel the country dealing with paranormal activities, meeting all sorts of new people and strange situations along the way

YodoChou Fic –

·        Pairings: YodoChou, probable others

·        Canon-verse, next gen, I’m thinking this fic will be much more similar to the Naruto manga than my other fics with an action adventure story that has ninjas doing ninja stuff, though that doesn’t mean I’m not going to just ignore Everything that happens in Boruto, it’ll be more like the first few arcs of Naruto where the conflicts/stakes are relatively small scale and it’s more about the characters than any big world-shaking events

NaruGaa Gym AU –

·        Pairings: NaruGaa, SakuTema, probable others

·        Short fic, modern AU, Gaara is the sickly noodle boy who is roped into going to the gym with his big sis, where he meets the chipper, chubby gym-bunny Naruto, who peptalks him onto a treadmill and then laughs for ten hours when he Immediately trips over literally nothing and sprains his ankle (and then buys him a coffee to apologise), meanwhile Temari has managed to get into a weightlifting competition with buff lesbian Sakura and it all gets a bit out of hand

InoHina Modern AU – 

·        Pairings: InoHina, NaruHina (kinda), probable others

·        Based on this post

Post-college AU, Ino owns and runs a small boutique, when one day a shy, modest-looking woman comes in and starts browsing the more ‘scanty’ range, quickly picking up on her uncertainty and discomfort as she brings a miniskirt and low-cut tank top to the counter, Ino decides to help her get the guy she’s been mooning over for years (Naruto) by giving her a makeover that works with Hinata’s style, before realizing that she’s totally fallen for her somewhere along the way and now has no idea what to do about it

SakuKarui Modern AU –

·        Long-ish fic, (light) sci-fi setting, a team of scientists from all fields is on a (likely one-way) expedition, hoping to push the boundaries of human knowledge and discover more about the galaxy and potential life outside the solar system (without disrupting it if at all possible, I’m really keen to try and keep any colonial themes out of this) sending any knowledge back to Earth to help humanity improve itself, while trapped on a ship with little to no hope of ever returning, the crew build new lives and relationships slowly develop, will probably be a slice-of-life fic with the space stuff just as a background

Will definitely have alien life, but I’m not sure if I want sentient aliens who’re as developed/more developed than humanity, I’d like to keep this to the more “realistic” end of the genre and the focus to be mainly on the crew and their friendships, but thoughts would be welcome!

Olympic Lesbian Shenanigans – ***

·         Pairings: uh, idk actually…… Every Girl x Every Other Girl?

·         Loosely based on Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

·         Short-mid length fic, modern au/period setting, a pair of girls (leaning towards Ino and Karin but could go any way at this point) end up on a multi-week cruise ship with the Konoha Ladies Olympic Team (which will somehow include any non-Konoha girls too)……. things get very Gay

·         Possibly smutty?

·         …Probably smutty

·         Purely me-pandering ngl

·         Oh god what am I doing

Spy AU –

·        Pairings: NaruGaa, InoTema, ShikaCho, HinaTen, NejiLee, possible others

·        Long fic, plot-focused action thriller, will likely end up exploring dark themes, but also I might change my mind and go for a more fun 70s spy-thriller type vibe (I’m thinking about making Gaa a trans woman in this one but I’m still kinda unsure? Feedback would be welcome)

Sand Sib Fic –

·        Possible implied NaruGaa and ShikaTema, but the focus will be on the sibs

·        Will probably be similar in style to BTC, following the sand sibs and their relationship as it changes over the years (not sure if I’ll go right from the beginning, or just from the chunin exam arc up to the end of the war arc), going into much more detail about their development since Kishi dgaf about them, especially Gaara’s struggle to change himself after the exams, how and why he got Suna to accept him, Kank and Tem and their very complex relationship with Gaara (and each other) and Gaara’s long recovery from.. y’know. death. I’ll probably diverge from canon in some places (like the Rasa/Gaa reunion during the war)

Samurai AU –

·        Pairings: NaruGaa, SakuHina, TemaTen, KibaIno, ChoKarui, possible others

·        Similar to SITS but more plot-focused, long fic, historical drama, set in Sengoku era Japan (or more likely a version of the Naruto world based heavily on it), no fantasy elements, might get dark in places, the story will mostly be focusing on Naruto, so it might be split into a series or have short spinoff fics focusing on other characters

Jinchuriki Fic –

·        No pairings planned thus far

·        Canon-divergent, after the chunin exams, instead of deciding to become Kazekage, Gaara instead wants to be for the other jinchuriki what Naruto was to him, follows the time-skip with Gaara traveling the continent and inadvertently starting a nomadic jinchuriki tribe, will probably be slice-of-life, though I might also just run with the idea and rewrite the whole Naruto plot based on this (and other) changes, for example:

·        Temari takes the position of Kazekage and her and Kankuro are taking steps to change their village for the better (they’re in regular contact with Gaara and constantly send letters to his new friends reminding them to make sure he eats)

·        Hinata and Neji are both much more active in their goal to destroy their clan’s caste system

·        Sasuke returns to Konoha earlier and him and the other rookies do their own investigating into their village’s long history of reprehensible actions

·        Cut the entire war arc. All of it.

·        Make the conflict less about big grand battles against ultimate evil mcbadguys and more about actually revolutionising the ninja world at its very core

Model AU –

·        Possible pairings: NaruGaa, probable others, it’s all very uncertain

·        ……. Look idk the idea just won’t leave me alone ok?

Narugaa, based on this post, Naruto lives in the same apartment building as The Most Beautiful Man In The World, unfortunately they only ever cross paths when Naruto happens to have horribly embarrassed himself in some way, meanwhile The Most Beautiful Man In The World has been quietly trying to find excuses to see his cute blond neighbor, who must be really confident to not care about that giant salsa stain down the front of his shirt and wow he wished he could be so free and self-assured

If there’re any fics I’ve spoken about here that you’d really love to see, then do let me know! I can push the stories with more interest to the top of my agenda, keep in mind though, that I won’t be starting anything new until I’ve at least finished ATFC (possibly SITS too) and that my more ambitious fics will require a lot of pre-production before I’m willing to start them – I spent a good six months doing research for SITS – so fics like the spy au and the samurai au will need a lot more time to get started than, say, a college au

As always, I’m open to requests and if anyone has thoughts on anything I’ve already got planned that they’d like to share, then I’m open to chatting! Almost all of these fics (apart from everything in the LTL series) are still very early in development, so things can change a little, or a lot! "Reaching you" by Wasabisugar - Rated M, Crime AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete. As an undercover elite spy with a mission expected to last several years ahead, Hinata is ordered to acquire information from the owner of La Vie Global Resorts - Uzumaki Naruto - surrounding a massive drug deal. However, the man she's met with is nothing like what she expected and she soon finds herself developing feelings for the one person she is set out to expose.

“Stolen Beginnings” by @utsus - Rated M, Mystery/Crime Modern AU, Long One-Shot/Incomplete. Naruto always covers his tracks, not realizing he’s leading Hinata down the wrong trail.

omg. Fic spoiler alerts????? I guess I'll put things under the cut. All of the following scenes just really left a lasting impression on me.

“Love and Water” by nineetaaaillled - Rated E, Canon-Divergent AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete. The hardest part isn’t acknowledging that he’s in love, it’s believing that he can be loved.

The part that has never left me is when Naruto realizes he's in love with Hinata. At the end of Chapter 19: The Dance. Naruto runs through Konoha, finally settles on the top of a tall post, and has his hand on his beating heart, crying, overwhelmed with the flood of emotion after she kisses him. It's just. 💯💯💯. Top Tier feelings realization. I've tried to recapture this sensation in so many of my fics, like, what a MOMENT. WHAT A MOMENT.

“Powerless” by @bunny-hoodlum - Rated E, Mystery/Crime Modern AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete. His family’s past can’t be taken at face-value, and it comes clawing back to hurt him in ways that are out of his control.

So, I think the scene that left the biggest impact on me (though honestly every scene is ...BLUNT IMPACT) is when Naruto has been chatting on that server with similar "lost" kids like him, and he gets the dare...I think it was to save a life. I was so, so, so scared for him. Like, he ran into a family's apartment to interfere in domestic abuse, save Karin, there was a baseball bat, and Naruto ends up in the hospital...and. just. The FEAR I had for Naruto's safety!!!! How he just dove into this without regard for his own life. I felt so much adrenaline, and I came out of the chapter DRAINED. I had lived a whole life that wasn't mine.

“A Place in the Sun” by ihaveastorminme - Rated E, Canon-Divergent AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete forever. Naruto realizes that he’s not enough to love her.  He’s not enough to save her, either.

It's the smut and similarly named Chapter 18: "A place in the sun" that really stays with me. The Second Person POV is so masterfully done. It's such a beautiful chapter. The whole chapter feels warm, it's like...ahh. Naruto loves her. He really loves her so much, but amazingly, not once does that thought occur to him because he doesn't know it. Such a powerful characterization, the point of view is such an amazing choice, and the smut is just breathtaking.

“Komorebi” by CuriouslyCunning (Dizzydodo) - Rated E, Canon-Divergent AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. Hinata had always known she would marry a stranger, but she woke up married to the wrong one: a nine-tailed fox that claims they are destined for each other. Hinata proposes a bargain: If he can convince her of it by the first day of Autumn, then she will take her place as his bride. If not, he must return her to her family and release her from her vows. She didn’t expect him to be so persuasive. 

The part that always stays with me is Chapter 2: The Fox's Wedding when Naruto and the marriage procession enter the Hyuuga grounds to spirit Hinata away. It's so...mystical? I'm always so amazed at how Dizzydodo concocted such a dreamy scene.

“Made in Heights” by @utsus - Rated E, Spy AU, Long One-Shot/Incomplete. Hinata is definitely skilled enough to infiltrate the highly secured Uchiha party and steal sensitive intel that will save lives.  It’s just a matter of making it out alive.

So I know this is a NaruHina fic, and yes, the NaruHina moments are SOLID GOLD, but, BUT! Hinata's interactions with Izuna at the party!!! Her mysterious aura, her cool-under-pressure attitude, her calculated expressions of trustworthiness. The moment when Izuna approaches her from behind as she's thinking about the obsidian fountain sticks with me. Also the moment when it's just them in the garden, and she's gaining his trust. Such a COOL Hinata.

In books, like novels and such...

The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir by Kao Kalia Yang - When she was six years old, Yang’s family immigrated to America, and she evocatively captures the challenges of adapting to a new place and a new language. Through her words, the dreams, wisdom, and traditions passed down from her grandmother and shared by an entire community have finally found a voice.

There are various parts that stick out to me, but one of them is the very first chapter. She's describing her parents in the bamboo forest of Laos. Young, peeking at each other between the trees and falling in love. It's such a beautiful, imagined (?) moment that really contrasts the pain that follows. And simply communicating her parents' love story, almost commemorating such a gorgeous memory of a home that's now a war-torn place... That part really gets to me. She's describing a heaven that no longer exists.

Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan (3rd book of Crazy Rich Asians) - When Nicholas Young hears that his grandmother, Su Yi, is on her deathbed, he rushes to be by her bedside—but he's not alone. I just really love the ending. Let Kitty Pong win and do what she wants 💖

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams - The story famously recounts how the faded and promiscuous Blanche DuBois is pushed over the edge by her sexy and brutal brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski.

So I know this is like required American high school reading text, but I need to tell you. The scene that stuck with me is when Blanche always takes a bath. It's supposed to be symbolic of her wanting to cleanse herself and wash away her troubles and be "white" like her name entails, free of sin and regret. Idk but this idea of ritualizing a bath just stuck to me even years later.

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky - Raskolnikov, an impoverished student tormented by his own nihilism, and the struggle between good and evil, believes he is above the law. Convinced that humanitarian ends justify vile means, he brutally murders an old woman—a pawnbroker whom he regards as "stupid, ailing, greedy…good for nothing." Overwhelmed afterward by feelings of guilt and terror, Raskolnikov confesses to the crime and goes to prison. There he realizes that happiness and redemption can only be achieved through suffering.

This is another high school required reading text, but the part that nags at me is when he keeps thinking about the body, keeps stressing over someone finding it, so incredibly paranoid. And when he's talking to the police officer. He's so...unhinged. Raskolnikov is just so nuts. He's cray-cray. This unreliable narration of events, memories, and beliefs stuck with me and opened my eyes to a new brand of storytelling. You cannot always trust the main character's point of view. The main character can be WRONG. The main character can be confused! The main character can misunderstand people and dig themselves into a hole. The main character can still be someone to root for. This novel probably influenced to some kind of background extent my development of "White Lilies."

Their mission is to smoke out the rat among them who's selling political secrets to insurgents, while making sure the other Guardians don't figure them out. Neither can tell when their acting became so convincing.
