Side Note Agad: Sobrang daming kaganapan in all levels na pati Deadpool & Wolverine, sarap ng tulog ko. Hahahaha. May pa-priority delivery pa. So, buti nakakita ako kahapon ng same bottle and mas mura kahit sa website nila, naka discount na, pero mas mahal pa rin. Ang akin lang naman e, napaka simple. Noong isang buwan, nahuli siya ng mga pulis na nagnanakaw ng kable ng telepono at mga manhole sa may kanto. At kahapon, nakita siya ng mga kapitbahay na pinipinturahan ang mga dingding nila ng mga imahe nila Bea Alonzo, Sarah Geronimo, at iba pang mga artista. Tingin ko naman po maganda pero ewan ko ba, pinahuli na naman siya. Nasasaktan po ako dahil sinisisi ako ng mga kapitbahay ko sa pagiging pasaway ng anak ko.

Nagmana raw po sa akin. Namamana po ba ang pagiging pasaway? At ako nga po ba talaga ang may kasalanan kung bakit siya nagkaganyan? Tingin ko po kasi nababarkada siya kaya nagkaganun. Hindi po ba barkada naman talaga niya ang may masamang impluwensiya? Ano po ba ang pwede kong gawin? Dear Nanay X,

Upang lubha ninyong mas maunawaan ang kalagayan ng inyong anak, mas maganda kung alamin muna natin ang tinatawag nating deliquency. Marahil ngayon ay mas malinaw na ang pakakahulugan ng delinquency, ngayon ay tingnan naman natin ang mga posibleng dahilan kung bakit mayroong ganitong pag-uugali. Isa sa nakikitang posibleng dahilan ng delinquency sa kabataan ay tumutukoy sa mga proseso sa ating utak na nagiimpluwensya sa ating pagkatao, pag-uugali at pagiisip. May mga nagsasabi na ito raw ay maaring epekto ng mga maling gawi ng isang ina habang nagdadalang tao tulad ng droga at alak na sumasagabal sa pagdevelop ng utak ng sanggol. Ito ay nakakapagdulot ng mga negatibong pag-uugali sa isang tao habang bata pa lamang siya.

Alam ko na nahihiwagaan ka sa mga sinasabi ko, at marahil napapaisip ‘ano namang kinalaman ko dyan sa mga sinasabi mo? ’. Eto lang ang masasabi ko , bilang magulang malaki ang papel natin sa ating mga anak, at maging sa buong pamilya natin upang hindi sila mapasama. Tandaan mo na ang isang magandang pamilya ang magiging modelo ng ating mga anak kung paano makikisalamuha ang isang indibidwal sa lipunanan. Ayon narin sa mga pag-aaral, ang mga batang nakakaranas ng mga kalupitan sa kanilang magulang, o kaya naman ay mayroon mang magulang pero hindi naman naglalaan ng oras sa pamilya, at maging ang mga kabataan nakaranas ng hindi buong pamilya sila ang mga nakitaan ng kahinaan, kahinaan na kung saan madali silang napupunta sa masama. At para sagutin ang tanong mo kung namamana ba ang pagiging pasaway ang sagot ay hindi. Hindi namamana ang pagiging pasaway subalit maaring dahil ito sa paraan mo ng inyo pagpapalaki sa inyo anak. Hindi nalalayo ang bintang ng mga kapitbahay ninyo na maaari nga may kasalanan ka kung bakit ganyan ang anak mo. Natapos ko na ulit basahin yung Noli Me Tangere ni Dr. Jose Rizal (unang beses ko ‘tong nabasa ay nung high school at lahat naman ng mga Filipino ganun eh kasi di ba required) kaya naman huhugot muna ako. Paano naman kasi kahit na mahigit 100 years na ang nakalipas sobrang relevant pa rin nitong nobela lalo na sa Filipino society. Nung binasa ko ‘to noon, aaminin ko na di ko naappreciate siguro dahil na rin kasi sa requirement siya kumbaga binabasa mo lang dahil kailangan at di dahil sa gusto mo. Di ko na aappreciate kasi siguro wala pa ako sa maturity ng mga panahon na yun, early teens eh so ang trip ko sa buhay eh yung mga magagaan basahin, masyado kasing malalim ang hugot ng nobela na ‘to. Pero nung binasa ko ulit, sobrang nagustuhan ko siya at napakaraming mga bagay akong narealized. Wala na akong masasabi kung hindi, saludo ako sa yo Gat Jose Rizal! Salamat sa nobelang ito na pumukaw sa damdaming makabayan ng mga Pilipino noon (at magpahanggang ngayon). Pero di ko rin maiiwasang malungkot kasi yun nga lagpas 100 years old na ‘tong nobela pero yung mga suliranin at kapintasan ng mga Pilipino ay present pa rin...mapapasabi ka na lang tuloy ng, “Kailan ba matututo ang mga Pilipino? Kailan ba ako matututo?” 

Ilan lang ang mga bagay na ‘to na napansin kong tila yata walang pinagbago o kaya naman lumala o kaya naman nag transform lang pero ganun pa rin (sarili ko naman ‘tong interpretasyon kaya siguro naman walang tama o mali; may kanya kanya tayong pananaw sa mga bagay bagay sa mundong ito at ito ang sa akin. Alam kong magiging ‘self righteous’ ang dating nito tapos sasabayan na ng “eh bakit ikaw may nagawa ka na ba sa bayan?” Wala man akong nagawang malaking impact sa bansang ito pero alam ko naman na sa akin magsisimula ang pagbabago, maayos at disente akong Pilipino at karapatan kong maglabas ng hinaing sa gobyernong nabubuhay sa buwis na binabayaran ko, *dabs*)

1.) Ang Pamahalaan

Masasabi natin na iba na talaga ang uri ng pamahalaan natin ngayon sa dati na inilarawan sa nobela at iyon ay dahil sa salitang “Kasarinlan” Sa nobelang iyon kasi nasa ilalim pa ng pamahalaan ng Espanya ang Pilipinas kaya naman talagang mararamdaman mo ang sakit at pighati ng pagiging alipin sa sarili mong bayan pero kung titignan natin ngayon, ngayong malaya na tayo sa pamamahala ng dayuhan may nagbago ba talaga? Tunay na nga ba tayong malaya?

Isa talaga sa paborito kong linya mula sa nobelang ito ay mula sa Kabanata 49 na sinabi ng tauhang si Elias  “Ang pamahalaan ay katulad ng isang masamang manggagamot, ginoo, walang hinahanap kundi ang lunasan at gamutin ang mga sintomas, ngunit hindi naman sinisiyasat ang pinagmumulan ng sakit, o kung alam man niya ang dahilan ay natatakot na ito ay labanan”

May bahid pa rin ito ng katotohanan ngayon di ba? Hindi ko naman sinasabi na masama ang pamamalakad ng mga Pilipino sa sarili nilang gobyerno ngayon ang nais ko lang sabihin ay hindi rin naman ito maganda. Kung titignan natin, sa tuwing panahon ng pangangampanya ay kaliwa’t kanan ang mga pangako nila sa atin tapos kapag naluklok na sa pwesto eh wala na limutan na. Isa pa, nasa harapan na mismo natin ang mga problema kung bakit tayo nagkakaganito pero bakit tila ayaw lunasan? O kung malulunasan naman ay takot harapin ito? Isa na marahil sa pinakamabigat na “flaw” ng ating gobyerno ay yung “political regionalism” yung tipong loyal ka sa mga kaalyado mo sa politika pero hindi sa sarili mong bansa. In short, traydor. Bakit ganun? Ang alam ko kasi kapag nakaupo ka sa gobyerno ang loyalty mo nasa bayan at hindi sa kaalyado mo *coughs Aguinaldo administration coughs* Isa rin yan sa dahilan kung bakit ang bagal ng ating pag unlad dahil sa halip na magkaisa sa layuning pagbutihin ang bansa ay nagkakaroon ng “kanya kanya” attitude. EWAN. Isa pa, bakit ba ginagawang ‘pampamilya’ ang posisyon sa gobyerno? Karamihan sa mga politiko natin ay pinagpapasa pasahan na lang nilang mga mag anak ang pwesto sa gobyerno tila ba takot mawala sa kapangyarihan. 

Ang pamahalaan na siyang dapat kumikilos para sa ikabubuti ng kanyang mamamayan ay tila ba nagiging isa pang dahilan sa lalong pagkalugmok nito. Tama si Elias noon...at tama pa rin siya ngayon.

2.) Ang Simbahan 

Kung mapapansin natin, ang lakas at impluwensya ng simbahan noon ay mas malaki kumpara sa ngayon. Noon kasi ang simbahang katoliko ang tila ba pinakamakapangyarihan, nadidiktahan nga nila ang gobyerno di ba. Sila yung klase ng institusyon na ginagalang ng husto ng mga tao at sinusunod dala na rin siguro ng imahe nila na sila ay sugo ng Diyos at doon nagmula ang pang aabuso. Dahil nga sa nasa panig nila ang Diyos ay kailangan sila ang sundin. Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit sa bawat paghiling noon ay dapat may katumbas na donasyon (ito ay isa sa mga napansin ko talaga sa nobela lalo na tuwing magkakasakit si Maria Clara tapos magbibigay ng malaking donasyon si Kapitan Tiyago sa kung sino sinong patron para daw sa mabilis na paggaling ng kanyang anak). Hindi ko rin maintindihan kung bakit tila ba sa lahat ng bagay ay dapat mangielam ang mga kura (lalo na nung di bet ni Padre Damaso si Ibarra para kay Maria Clara). Tapos kung bakit parang mas makapangyarihan pa sila kaysa sa gobernador heneral. Tila ba isa silang kumikitang korporasyon. Ang dating tuloy sa akin ay ginagamit lang nila ang Diyos para sa pansariling interes.

Kung titignan natin ngayon, ganun pa rin naman di ba? Hindi nga lang sa simbahang katoliko mismo dahil kung mapapansin natin ay tila malaki na ang pinagbago nito. Naging committed na sila sa mercy and compassion for the poor. May iilang mga “relihiyosong grupo” na minsan naiisip ko kung word of God ba talaga ang agenda nilang ipalaganap o nais lang nilang mang uto ng tao para sa pansariling interes? Bakit kailangan gamitin ang Diyos? At bakit marami ang mabilis na namamanipula nila?

3.) Ang Guardia Civil

Noong panahon kasi ng mga Kastila, ang law enforcers ay yung mga guardia civil, katumbas nito ang mga pulis at sundalo ngayon (kung di ako nagkakamali) Pero sa halip na sila itong dapat na mangalaga sa kaligtasan at kaayusan ay sila pa ang kadalasang nagiging sanhi nito. (Tinutukoy ko ang paglalarawan sa nobela, baka ma triggered agad eh tsk). Gaya ulit sa sinabi ng tauhang si Elias sa Kabanata 49 “Iisa lamang ang hangad ng guardia civil: sugpuin ang krimen sa pamamagitan ng lakas at pananakot, hangaring hindi magtatagumpay kundi sa pagkakataon lamang..... Tanungin po ninyo kahit sinong tapat na mamamayan kung mapupuri nila ang guardia civil. Kung itinuturing nilang tagapagtanggol sa halip na mapanggipit at malupit na higit pang mapaminsala kaysa sa mga tulisan. Ang isang tao ay hindi man lang makapagreklamo laban sa mga abusadong awtoridad.” Dito natin makikita na kaakibat ng kapangyarihan nakaatas sa kanila ay ang responsibilidad ngunit ito ay hindi naisasakatuparan sapagkat marami ang umaabuso sa kapangyarihang hawak....

...gaya na lamang sa kasalukuyang panahon. Hindi ba kaliwa’t kanan ang mga isyu tungkol sa mga tiwaling opisyal? May mga isyu ng pangongotong na tila ba hindi na mapupuksa. Tapos meron pang mga protektor ng sindikato. Meron ding sila mismo ang umaabuso sa mga mas mababa sa kanila o kaya naman sa mga trainee pa lamang.

Kung ating mapapansin, ang sakit natin noon ay hanggang ngayon sakit pa rin natin. Bakit nga ba tila hindi pa rin tayo gumagaling? Wala ba talagang lunas o sadyang ayaw lang magpagamot? Tama si Rizal eh, bakit nga ba kalayaan kung ang alipin ngayon ang mang aalipin bukas? (Di ko sinasabi na dapat di tayo pinalaya ha? Baka triggered na naman yung iba diyan). Tama si Rizal na hangga’t hindi pa nabibigyang pansin ang mga ‘flaws’ nating mga Pilipino ay hindi natin magagawang paunlarin ang bayan dahil ang pagbabago ay sa sarili nagsisimula. Mahirap kalabanin ang sistema at makinaryang ilang taon nang naghahari harian sa ating bayan ngunit hindi ba mas marami pa rin naman tayong mga  Pilipino na nais ng pagbabago? Hindi ba dapat ang gobyerno ang matakot sa kanilang mga mamamayan at hindi ang mamamayan sa gobyerno? Gaya ng sabi ko noon dito sa blog ko, “Government leaders should be public servants instead of politicians. They should do more of serving instead of politicking” so ayun. Di ako nagmamagaling, nais ko lang ipahayag ang aking pananaw tungkol sa bagay na ‘to, tutal ang mga ninuno naman natin ang nakipaglaban para sa kalayaang tinatamasa natin lalo na ang kalayaang ipahayag ang damdamin...lalo na kung tungkol ito sa ikabubuti ng bansa. 

Patuloy na magiging relevant si Rizal at ang kanyang mga nobela sapagkat hindi pa rin tayo nabibigyan ng “lunas” sa ating “sakit”
