Sick Day, OC Edition
So I've been sick for a week, and have been coughing almost non stop for 3 days. Since I don't have a partner, I have to do everything myself while I'm sick... When I should just be resting in bed or in my chair.
Then I got bored and decided to make this on a whim. Then decided to not write it because I had self sabotaging thoughts of "But does anyone really care?"
So have a series of how my OC act when they're sick: feel free to do this as well @starsandskies @briarfox13 @jackiemychoom / @thegreatdivide @ava-du-mortain @palipunk
Tumblr media
Lt. Frëja L. S. Kirch | Art: @artofmisi
Trope: I'm totally fine (is not fine please take them to the hospital)
Doesn't believe Spartans can get sick. If Frëja is sick, they usually end up unconscious in the medical wing of the Infinity due to overexertion of their body while being sick. A medic ODST has to guard Frëja to make sure they don't try to cheat recovery.
Jun will visit Frëja when they're finally released to their personal quarters. He brings Frëja hot tea from what would be Asian diaspora communities. He also burns Frëja's favorite incense and when he is off duty they watch drama vids together.
Tumblr media
Nathaniel Owen & Ianto Hughes
Trope: I'm really sick please take care of me
Nate isn't anxious about his health. He just hates feeling useless when he's sick. But when he is sick, he milks the "take care of me routine" from Arthur. One time when Nate was doped up on medicine from a respiratory infection, Arthur came into their room on the Prydwen and Nate goes
"YOUR BEARD IS AN ENCHANTED FOREST IT'S SO MAGNIFICENT!"
"Nate go back to bed..."
"Hahaha Elder Grumpy Santa!"
*mumbles*
Arthur loves him though and between being busy with the Brotherhood and delegating Nate's duties, he actually sometimes puts Nate ahead of other things and pressures Cade into treating him because he's worried whenever Nate gets sick.
Tumblr media
Ianto is a drama queen and totally milks the drama "I'M SIIIIICK PLEASE TAKE CARE OF MEEEEEEEE."
Shin pretends to be annoyed and scoffs but then secretly hands Ianto treats and cookies. Meanwhile if Shin is sick, he refuses to be taken care of and Ianto has to basically force feed him immunizations and medicine.
Tumblr media
Vincente Eurodyne
Trope: Yes I took my pills this morning (Did not take his pills)
V knows he's sick. He knows the pills help. But he hates taking treatments for being sick. He hates cold medicine and he hates his new infusion drug that helps keep his body stable after losing Johnny.
Kerry greeting him in the kitchen with "Did you take your meds this morning."
"Yes."
Kerry then holds the meds up saying, "No, you didn't dumbass."

“Go ahead, take your shoes off, Let's do a pajama party like the old times. We'll build a pillow fort and ask the Magic Eight Ball who will we marry.’ ‘We never did that,’ Andy complained, undoing her boots. ‘You wouldn't do it; it's too unscientific. Instead you tried to explain genetics to me to determine who we should marry to spawn superdetectives.” x “The motel slept in silence, all the guests probably busy counting stolen money or chopping up corpses in the bathtub.” x “Andy was sure there was a company in England, possibly founded by a society of African explorers in the Victorian era, a bunch of Colonel Mustards with pith helmets and friendly mutton chops, who manufactured this high-tier field equipment especially for kids, aware that young explorers like Kerri must not be patronized with cheap plastic toys, but be offered the best durable tools to encourage their vocation, because those curious children shall be the great discoverers of tomorrow.” x “Looks like the place of an old lady who never got married.’ ‘That's Puritan for 'witch,' Nate said, and he knocked again.” x “Pierce was the name she had just given to the pickax, the tool-slash-accessory-slash-slasher weapon that had become her dearest item in their arsenal.” x read this one at the suggestion of an ex-coworker, and whoo boy - glad I finally did. A group of kids who solved mysteries while on vacations a decade ago are now grown up and have come back to make sure their final case is Closed. Set in the 1990, Cantero got the tone and atmostphere of the time right (A Bunch of good oneliners, and at one point a character takes a pictures and shakes it to develop because it’s a polaroid (omg nostalgia)) The cover was cool, and when going back to the library to get his first english language book The Supernatural Enhancements (that cover too omg) I also picked up his third book This Body’s Not Big Enough for Both of Us - so excited to dive into both! Hey but sorry to bother u but could give me those book recs? Relying on u girl
of course!! sorry bout the long wait, dear x
you said you preferred trilogies or series’ (which i don’t read much of tbh) so here are a few of my favorites: (( some of these will have full on summaries and some… not so much, i got lazy lol ))
The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout : Meet Katy and Daemon! Katy is a funny, down-to-earth book blogger who has just moved to West Virginia. And Daemon? Well, he’s her hot and arrogant next-door neighbor. He’s also an alien. This one is cheesy, yeah, but it’s so FUN! Follow along as Katy and Daemon try to figure out what they mean to each other while trying not to get killed by the Arum; the Lumen’s enemy. In this world, the DOD is well aware that aliens exist and that they live on Earth. However, they are unaware that the aliens known as Luxen actually possess powers that make them.. well… powerful beyond means. This isn’t just a romance story; it focuses on family and friendships and it has a bunch of kick ass action and the entire plot with the DOD is so interesting.
The Pine Deep Series by Jonathan Maberry ; I’m only on the first book but this one is a bit more mature in terms of horror and things like that. If you like scary books or feel like being spooky in time for Halloween, you should definitely check this one out!
The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare : I’m sure you know about this one, but if you don’t! Angels, demons, warlocks, vampires, faeries, werewolves? What more could you want? When Clary Fray discovers she’s actually a Shadowhunter; an appointed warrior of the Angel Raziel and has angel blood coursing through her veins, her life is about to change forever. Join her and the rest of the Shadowhunter gang (and even a few others) as they team up to rescue her mom and stop an all out war from happening.
The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken ; I’m only on the first book but I absolutely love it! It’s an intense read that has me on the edge of my seat constantly. I adore Ruby and she’s easily become one of my favorite female characters of all time.
Dorothy Must Die Series by Danielle Paige ; Okay. I know, I know. Really? Dorothy Must Die? Hear me out! This book is FUN. Trashy? Perhaps, but fun! The first book is really fast paced and honestly? I am living for a world where Dorothy is evil. So basically our main character is named Amy and she is the other girl from Kansas. She’s sent to Oz to save it from Dorothy Gale who has become power hungry and is now pure evil along with the Tin-Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow. The rest of the series doesn’t really live up to the first book, but I would say you should read the first one anyway. It’s a lot of fun.
Did I Mention I Love You Series by Estelle Maskame: Sixteen-year-old Eden Munro decides to spend the summer with her father in Santa Monica as her parents are divorced now. Once there, she meets her father’s new family and that includes Tyler Bruce; her new asshole step brother with a short temper and a huge ego but as she gets to learn more about him, she finds herself falling for him. This trope isn’t for everyone and I know the whole step sibling thing is super taboo but this series is awesome and I read it during a huge reading slump and it really helped me get though it.
Perfect Chemistry Series by Simone Elkeles: When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she’s worked so hard for―her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more. (Each book in this series focuses on a different Fuentes brother.)
Fighting to Be Free Series by Kirsty Moseley: Jamie Cole has just been released from juvenile detention. Determined to go straight, he tries to cut ties with crime boss Brett Reyes - but Brett has no intention of letting him go. Jamie’s life is already more complicated than it needs to be, yet it’s when he meets a beautiful stranger at a bar that Jamie knows he’s really in over his head. Ellie Pearce has just come out of a terrible relationship and isn’t looking for anything serious; until she meets Jamie. Their attraction is overwhelming and intense - she can’t seem to shake her growing feelings for him, even though she’s trying to keep it casual. But when fate goes horribly wrong and Jamie’s family is faced with ruin, he’s forced to strike a deal with Brett. Despite his struggles, he wants nothing more than a future with Ellie. That’s until Ellie finds out that he’s been hiding more from her than she could ever imagine.
Mind if I drop in a few stand alone’s? I’m trying to read more series’ but I’ve always been more of a stand alone kind of girl, so here are some of my current favs:
#MurderTrending by Gretchen McNeil : WELCOME TO THE NEAR FUTURE, where good and honest citizens can enjoy watching the executions of society’s most infamous convicted felons, streaming live on The Postman app from the suburbanized prison island Alcatraz 2.0. When seventeen-year-old Dee Guerrera wakes up in a haze, lying on the ground of a dimly lit warehouse, she realizes she’s about to be the next victim of the app. Knowing hardened criminals are getting a taste of their own medicine in this place is one thing, but Dee refuses to roll over and die for a heinous crime she didn’t commit. Can Dee and her newly formed posse, the Death Row Breakfast Club, prove she’s innocent before she ends up wrongfully murdered for the world to see? Or will The Postman’s cast of executioners kill them off one by one?
One Small Thing by Erin Watt : Meet Beth and Chase. Beth is entering her senior year and is still trying to move on from the death of her older sister three years ago. In a small town with parents who have suddenly become her wardens; that seems nearly impossible. And then she meets the mysterious and hot Chase who immediately draws her in. Their attraction is instant and he’s the first person who makes her feel like Beth Jones and not Lizzie; the young girl who lost a sister and is somehow broken by it. But as she falls harder for Chase, she’s hit with the reality of the part he played in her sister’s death. It’s about forgiveness, love, and moving on. It’s sad and sweet and such a fun, quick read. Definitely good for trying to get out of a slump!
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren :  Fangirl meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in this funny and poignant coming-of-age novel from New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren about two boys who fall in love in a writing class—one from a progressive family and the other from a conservative religious community. If you read one book off of this list, PLEASE let it be this one. This book is so… amazing. It’s been months and I still think about it constantly.
Fault Line by C. Desir : Trigger WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS A RAPE. It is not shown, but it’s the main conflict in the book. Over the years I have struggled with if I liked this book because it was good or if I liked it because of how much it fucked me up. I read this book in one sitting and when I finished, I sat in my bed for a good hour and just…. didn’t move or do anything. You will NOT be rooting for the main couple. The narrator is unlikable and you will HATE all the characters in this book. The ending is NOT happy and I don’t know why I’m recommending this but GOD. This book, after so many years, just stuck with me because of how fucked up it was. It deals with the whole “recovery” process in such a dark way that we normally don’t see in YA fiction and I think that’s what makes it stand out so much. If you want something darker, read this. But read it with caution. If this isn’t something you like then please, don’t bother reading it. It’s not happy and it’s sure as shit not fluffy. Summary : Ben could date anyone he wants, but he only has eyes for the new girl—sarcastic free-spirit Ani. Luckily for Ben, Ani wants him too. She’s everything Ben could ever imagine. Everything he could ever want. But that all changes after the party. The one Ben misses. The one Ani goes to alone. Now Ani isn’t the girl she used to be, and Ben can’t sort out the truth from the lies. What really happened, and who is to blame? Ben wants to help her, but she refuses to be helped. The more she pushes Ben away, the more he wonders if there’s anything he can do to save the girl he loves.
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero : If you like Scooby-Doo or Archie’s Weird Mysteries this book is probably for you. 1990. The teen detectives once known as the Blyton Summer Detective Club are all grown up and haven’t seen each other since their fateful, final case in 1977. Andy, the tomboy, is twenty-five and on the run, wanted in at least two states. Kerri, one-time kid genius and budding biologist, is bartending in New York, working on a serious drinking problem. At least she’s got Tim, an excitable Weimaraner descended from the original canine member of the team. Nate, the horror nerd, has spent the last thirteen years in and out of mental health institutions, and currently resides in an asylum in Arhkam, Massachusetts. The only friend he still sees is Peter, the handsome jock turned movie star. The problem is, Peter’s been dead for years. The time has come to uncover the source of their nightmares and return to where it all began in 1977. This time, it better not be a man in a mask. The real monsters are waiting.
Fatal Throne by Candace Fleming ; A book about Henry VIII and his six wives. If you like historical fiction then this book might be for you! It’s told through the perspective of his six wives (and even Henry himself) and it’s a really fascinating read.
Okay, I think I’m going to stop here. Let me know if none of these speak to you and I’ll give you some more recs! I didn’t know what kind of genres you liked, so I tried to throw in a little bit of everything.

Vic and Amy are supposed to be mates so it doesn't feel that far fetched that she would give her a lift to the hospital on lunch date with Luke/Lee death day. However, juxtaposing the Amy/Kerry situation and how they kept it a secret that they caused a death with Vic's situation and how she's possibly with a bloke who committed a crime that her brother is paying for is making my theory meter go off.
Anonymous said: It will always tickle my theory brain whenever someone says "Luke *seems*..." It implies that he appears to be one thing but it's also possible that he's not that way. That Amy line about "if [Luke's] as nice as he seems," didn't Amy date Nate? Nate whose real identity was unknown because he had ulterior motives when he pursued Moira?
Precisely why I pointed these little gems out. :’) There have been a lot of parallels between storylines recently, it would be nice to think some of them meant something.
If you want to refresh your memory of the Vic/Amy chat, it’s here x . It’s almost interesting if you convince yourself the theory is real. :P Haha.

Foo Fighters – Learn to Fly
Call 1-855-637-4055 for our Psychic line as low as 66¢/min lyrics: Run and tell all of the angels This could take all night Think I need a devil to help me get things right Hook me up a new revolution ‘Cause this one is a lie We sat around laughing and watched the last one die Now I’m looking to the sky to save me Looking for a sign of life Looking for something to help me burn out bright I’m looking for a complication Looking ’cause I’m tired of lying Make my way back home when I learn to fly high. I think I’m done nursing the patience It can wait one night I’d give it all away if you give me one last try We’ll live happily ever trapped if you just save my life Run and tell the angels that everything’s alright… I’m looking to the sky to save me Looking for a sign of life Looking for something to help me burn out bright I’m looking for a complication Looking ’cause I’m tired of trying Make my way back home when I learn to fly high. Make my way back home when I learn to… …fly along with me, I can’t quite make it alone Try to make this life my own Fly along with me, I can’t quite make it alone Try to make this life my own I’m looking to the sky to save me Looking for a sign of life Looking for something to help me burn out bright I’m looking for a complication Looking ’cause I’m tired of trying Make my way back home when I learn to… …looking to the sky to save me Looking for a sign of life Looking for something to help me burn out bright I’m looking for a complication Looking ’cause I’m tired of trying Make my way back home when I learn to fly high. Make my way back home when I learn to fly. Make my way back home when I learn to… About Foo Fighters: The foo fighters are an American rock band, formed in Seattle in 1994. It was founded by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project following the death of Kurt Cobain and the resulting dissolution of his previous band. The group got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as Foo Fighters. Prior to the release of Foo Fighters‘ 1995 debut album Foo Fighters, which featured Grohl as the only official member, Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as fellow Nirvana touring bandmate Pat Smear as guitarist to complete the lineup. The band began with performances in Portland, Oregon. Goldsmith quit during the recording of the group’s second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997) when most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl himself. Smear’s departure followed soon afterward. Grohl received offers to work with various artists; he almost accepted a permanent position as drummer in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Ultimately Grohl declined and instead entered Robert Lang Studios in October 1994 to record fifteen of the forty songs he had written. With the exception of a guitar part on “X-Static”, played by Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs, Grohl played every instrument and sang every vocal on the tracks. The final album was released in October 2002 under the title One by One. Singles from the album included “All My Life”, “Times Like These”, “Low”, and “Have It All”. For most of its history, the band chose to stay away from the political realm. However, in 2004, upon learning that George W. Bush’s presidential campaign was using “Times Like These” at rallies, Grohl decided to lend his public support to John Kerry’s campaign – “There’s no way of stopping the president playing your songs, so I went out and played it for John Kerry’s people instead, where I thought the message would kinda make more sense”. The remaining trio of Grohl, Mendel, and Hawkins spent the next several months recording the band’s third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose, in Grohl’s Virginia home studio that he bought and built. The album spawned several singles, including “Learn to Fly“, the band’s first single to reach the US Billboard Hot 100. Foo Fighters first received a Grammy Award for their music video for “Learn to Fly” in 2000 and have won ten others in total. Click here to return to positive music list Read the full article

VFX - VFX Breakdown Reel ABC's 'Scandal'
VFX Legion Wraps Three-Years of Visual Effects Work on ABC’s 'Scandal'
The Studio Created Hundreds of Photorealistic CG Shots, Seamlessly Matching The Shondaland Production’s Live-Action Footage and Transported The LA-Based Show To A Virtual D.C. Environment
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube....bed/AXL-iVYrGdQ" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> The recent airing of the series finale of ‘Scandal’ on ABC capped off VFX Legion’s three-year run as the sole visual effect company for award-winning creator/producer/writer/director Shonda Rhimes’ political thriller. The Burbank studio has been the driving force behind the hundreds of computer-generated effects that the show’s viewers didn’t see each week. Currently a streaming favorite on Netflix, Legion’s team takes great pride in the fact that the photorealistic digital world they created now goes unnoticed by a new crop of fans binge-watching the groundbreaking series. 'Scandal' is shot in LA, while its story unfolds in D.C. where deception and intrigue ensue as its central character, Olivia Pope, (Kerry Washington) the staff of her crisis management firm, and the White House’s inner circle ravenously vie for power. While the episodic drama didn’t call for futuristic CG worlds, the Los Angeles-based production relied heavily on VFX Legion to create composited sequences, set extensions, full computer-generated environments and exacting digital replications of iconic buildings in D.C. that would have been too expensive, impractical, or impossible to shoot. Once ‘Scandal’ brought VFX Legion onboard, founder, creative director James David Hattin’s first order of business was to customize a new digital pipeline that optimized the efficiency and quality control of the show’s visual effects. Hattin, the architect of the studio’s state-of-the-art pipeline, designed its infrastructure to support transparent communication with each artist and enable his management team to work one-to-one, supervising every phase of the production. Nuke-based compositing facilitated collaborative workflow and streamlined ‘Scandal’s’ visual effects process. Redshift was key to completing the CG renderings on schedule, while maintaining consistently high-quality. Spearheaded by Hattin, Legion handled every facet of the visual effects process for the last 50 episodes of the series, from pre-production, budgeting, establishing shot lists and developing concepts to on-set supervision and production. VFX supervisor Matthew Lynn, on-set coordinator, Mathew Noren and support staff were on-set during shoots, working closely with ‘Scandal’s’ directors, ADs, camera crews and post teams. They provided input and gathered data on green-screen placement, the positioning of tracking markers, lighting placement, camera angles and other specs, ensuring that Legion had the information and assets needed to produce visual effects that seamlessly blended with the live-action, as well as the lighting and look of the show. “As confidence in the our capabilities grew, more ambitious visual effects were incorporated into the show,” says Nate Smalley, Legion’s head of production. "The escalation continued during season six with an exploding cabin effect integrated into a live-action scene, and then moved on to more advanced full CG environments and set extensions. Our artists built a tight computer-generated replication of Marine One that closed the season finale as president ‘Fitz’ (Tony Goldwyn) ended his term and boarded the helicopter. For this year’s final season, we created a photorealistic digital aircraft that’s indistinguishable from a practical shot of the plane when cut back-to-back, before blowing up in a fiery explosion.” The release of ’Scandal’s’ VFX breakdown reel, ‘VFX Legion Goes to Washington…In LA,’ provides a retrospect of some of the CG sequences that the studio created for the show over the last three seasons. Currently, VFX Legion is readying to begin work on its fourth season of another Shonda Rhimes series, ‘How to Get Away with Murder,’ and is about to wrap this season’s finale of the CBS series, ‘Madam Secretary.’ The company is also finishing up visual effects for two feature films, award-winning Director X’s remake of the 70’s classic, ‘Superfly’ and the highly anticipated hundred-million-dollar epic film, ‘Asura.’ Credits: Project: VFX for ‘Scandal’ (Seasons 5,6,7) Production Company: Shondaland Productions / LA Production Company: ABC Studios / LA Executive Producer/Creator/Head Writer: Shonda Rhimes VFX Company: VFX Legion / LA Creative Director/Senior VFX Supervisor: James David Hattin VFX Supervisor: Matthew T. Lynn Production Manager: Andrew Turner VFX Head of Production: Nate Smalley CG Supervisor: Rommel S.
