hello anon, i've already got a gifset like this planned. though, i'm planning on doing it a little different by focusing one set on the characters first scenes in the backdoor pilot and another for the show itself. so, might take a while to get it finished but it's definitely coming.

9. Have you ever written for a fandom without watching/reading/playing the source material?

Nope, I've only written for NCISLA and Chicago and I watch both a lot.

27. If you could only ever write crossovers or single-fandom fics ever again, which would you pick?

Single-fandom 100%. And I guess I could always cheat if I wanted to bring in a character from another fandom since that's not fully a crossover.

42. How many views has your most popular fic gotten?

I actually had to search this cause I had no idea. But according to ff.net Ghost has 63,853 views.

45. If you had to call yourself an author of a single genre (besides fanfic) what label would you give yourself?

Thinking of ff.net genres, definitely angst! Even when I try to write something light or cheerful it somehow ends up still being angsty lol. I'm the angst master😅

You must be excited to find out Santa Baby was going to be used in the holiday episode this week on NCIS Los Angeles?

-So excited!

How did you find out the show was using the song and have you had any of your other songs used on TV or film before? -Well, I ‘m here in NYC and was in this wonderful new chicken and waffles candy store, aptly named Sugar and Plumm, having a great hot chocolate waiting to see the tree lighting at Lincoln Center. It was such a beautiful night and contemplating how good things are… And voila, there’s an email forwarded from my label, sent by Mark Wike (Music Supervisor for NCIS LA).

My father, who passed away earlier this year loved CBS. And I recorded Santa Baby when I lived across the street of CBS. It was CBS residuals that financed the song, as Santa Baby’s original intent was as a personal Christmas gift. That was 15 years ago to the day. Finally, to have the song, that’s been so revered by fans worldwide since 2000, come back and be the backdrop to Holiday romance on CBS’s NCIS LA… Cool, right? And yes, thanks for askin’, I do have other song placements.

This song has been covered by some iconic singers like Eartha Kitt and Madonna. How did you decided to interpret the song and put your own spin to this Christmas classic?

-I recorded Santa Baby as a gift for a very special person in my life, Jack Nicholson. Have always loved that song, as so many do, thanks to Eartha. The radio DJ, Michael Mann (then 102.3) in South LA made me a cassette tape of her version. Decided to record it and another, Someone To Watch Over Me, as gifts that went on a Christmas card CD. That was 1997. Then Santa Baby went viral in 2000. This version, perhaps because it was sung from the heart, has oft credited to Marilyn Monroe. (Well, that and illegal file sharing. ;-).) Ironically, this version has become the standard for today’s artists.

What’s coming up in 2013 for Cynthia Basinet that you can tell your fans about?

-First, I have my debut full length jazz CD, The Standard, just out. Second, have a fantastic new single, Eventually, out early in ’13. Third, get to tour and act more.

if you don’t mind, what scenes from nice la season 13 are you uncomfortable with, so I don’t request them?

hello anon :) i don't mind at all. there haven't been any scenes in season 13 itself (saying that though, i didn't like deeks' speech about how great america is in 13x02 so i probably won't gif that) but it's more a case of certain scenes over the last 13 years. there is a lot more that i loved and am comfortable with gifing than not.

if you do send in a request and it's something i'm not comfortable with giffing though, i'll just let you know immediately.

just a couple of examples; kensi punching deeks in 5x10, harley's death, sam's fight/interrogation in seal hunter, some of sam's comments to deeks in the early seasons (that doesn't make me uncomfortable but resulted in some really horrible fandom experiences at the time that i want to forget).
