2024 Writing Plans
There's that old adage about best laid plans going awry, and all I can say is, @ the universe please send me a POSITIVE (read closely, universe, I said POSITIVE) reason why this plan all falls apart. That being said, I broke the year down into the four quarters and tried to plan what I'll be working on each quarter, with aesthetics.
Tumblr media
For the first three months of 2024, I plan to return to a reboot of a previous WIP that I wrote, queried, and rewrote and requeried between the years of 2019-2021. It's a dual POV YA contemporary fantasy/paranormal (think like, Lockwood & Co., Supernatural, Stranger Things kind of vibes) about two teens in a beach town with a rich mythology of hauntings who discover that there's more truth to the legends than they ever expected.
Tumblr media
In the spring, I hope to return to my secret YA fantasy/dark academia WIP that twists up some well known tropes. I wrote a very messy draft of this in 2023, and I think some will be salvageable, but it's going to be a complicated rewrite for sure.
Tumblr media
@ The universe, PLEASE give me a good reason to return to this faster, but either way, in the summer I want to tackle the sequel to OF WHISPERS AND WILDFLOWERS, which will finish off the duology. OWAW is hopefully headed out on sub to editors soon, so fingers crossed this draft will actually be needed and it won't just be me writing it because it makes me sad not to.
Tumblr media
Provided I'm not on deadline, in the fall I want to return to NecromancerWIP, the original idea for which I had over 2 years ago and which has still not received an actually good full draft. There have been many shitty drafts, but my boys deserve something better than that, and I hope I can give it to them this year.

OCs as “They’re a Ten, but...”
Stole concept from @wordsofrablack!
OWAW:
Brynn: “she’s a ten, but she’ll make a deal with the fae instead of talking about her feelings.”
Nathaniel: “he’s a ten, but he’ll lecture you for terrible ideas while planning his own, even worse idea.”
Necromancer:
Eddie: “he’s a ten, but he's also a total trash possum.”
Dorian: “he’s a ten, but he lives in the woods and has no social skills.”
Tagging @elizmanderson because your characters would be funny for this

Heads up 7 Up
Thanks for tagging me, @elizmanderson!
Sharing the first seven lines of my necromancer book!
Eddie Beaumont had ten possessions left to his name: one tattered backpack with nothing inside but a hospital gown, a hoodie, and a pair of sweatpants; a faded denim jacket lined with fleece; a pair of leather boots with frayed laces and the soles worn nearly through; an obsolete cellphone with a broken screen and a dead battery; a cheap laptop that only worked if the screen was propped at just the right angle; a shoebox full of old cassette tapes; and his ancient green pickup truck, which had just crapped out on him in the middle of nowhere.
“Of course,” he groaned, letting his head thump back against the head rest. “Of fucking course.”
He muttered a prayer to any god or saint or spirit who might be listening and turned the key. The engine caught, turned over once, and spluttered out again with a pathetic whine.
Figures. Any deity watching probably saw him as a sideshow clown.
