Doll stuff I’m waiting on atm:

1) Maybe the most exciting - I won a commission slot with a suit maker who specialises in Volks boys, so Cygnus is finally getting his signature outfit custom-made for his size. I got really tired of ‘SD size’ never actually being that, and most of his stuff was only ‘good enough’ in terms of fit (and the stuff that fit best is a bit too fancy/antique, which is fine for his AU form but not so much his regular one. Almost everything in his style is made for bigger dolls than him. I’m excited that he can finally look more like how he’s drawn without me having to pin stuff back for photos/hide how baggy it is. (And it’s kinda fitting - in canon he needs his clothes custom made too because of his height). It should hopefully arrive some time this week.

2.) Clothes made for my little centaur Fern - they were a clickwar release and I managed to get one. They should also be here this week.

3) One of my friends found me someone doing an order of 3D printed Oberon crowns for dolls on Xianyu…! I asked a proxy to get me a few of them in different sizes and in both colours. I don’t actually know when these will ship but I’m really excited to have his actual crown rather than stuff I’ve just tried to have look like it.

4) Chibi Chop Shop are having a July sale - buy one get one free for nendoroid faces, so I bought a bunch for my nendolls (mostly Gudao, and Oberon when he gets here) and only had to pay for half.

5) Tinyfox Nomi, although he doesn’t ship until November. I’m looking forward to trying out a full set Tinyfox doll (as opposed to a fully custom one like my chibi Cygnus) but I’m happy to try to forget about him until then.

potato updato - have found a bunch of nendoll clothing patterns and decided to see what the official stuff is like. their seam allowances seem too generous as this looks baggier than it's mean to be (pattern is the one shown on pg 14/50 of the 555-nendoll clothing patterns linked here), but i'll keep it in mind for future stuff, and it was good sewing practice. i may still bust out the machine we have buried somewhere, though ^^;

i got a new phone between updates and while this wasn't the first photo i've taken, it's def the blurriest lol

i also repainted her right eye as that one dried oddly clumpy the first time around, still need to mix up more paint and touch them both up/do some better colour matching on those giant irises

Another Exalted obitsuroid! This is Prezit, an exegent that started with me wanting to play a character based on the Boris accent

She ended up cheerful and punchy (with an axe!), because she exalted when her Creation died and had lived her whole life in a dying world, and so was very fatalistic. She ended up learning how to live while punching due to her Lunar girlfriend punching along side her. <3

It's Raining

This is a very cute set that is a real handful (literally!) to deal with.

We'll get to everything that makes this set more work than I bargained for, but first, let's present the inspiration for these two rainy-day cuties.

Here we have Gong Jun looking tall, handsome, and casually outfitted for a rainy day.

Here we have Zhehan, looking tall, handsome, and dressed like he belongs on a luxury yacht. Which he does. He deserves at a minimum one luxury yacht!

This white suit looks incredible. I'm in love with this belt because of the beautiful design, and how it really shows off his figure and slim waist.

This was the Marie Claire shoot in July 2021. Since Tumblr allows 1 video per post, let's use it on the BTS of this shoot, shall we?

Ahh my eyes and soul feel refreshed. What a man. What a look.

On to the figs, shall we?

These figs do not stand on their own - here I have them propped up against the back wall. Either the umbrella overweights them and they topple over instantly, or the umbrellas detach and fall off.

The interesting thing here is how the umbrellas fall off.

That's right - these figs each have one detachable hand.

The hands, come to find out, are the same size as Nendoroid hands. Nendoroids are small (originally) Japanese PVC figures that have interchangeable parts. Depending on the fig, they can have swappable hands, legs, torsos, face plates, hair, accessories, you name it.

So this means that you can easily swap out their hands for any number of fun items. I actually have a couple Nendoroids, so I experimented:

I really like the coat cape I put on Junjun here. He looks good, doesn't he? Very Xu Si / Rising with the Wind.

I've seen all kinds of fun things that people use (other than weaponry, what the heck Lelanthe) like ice cream cones and leaves and other very wholesome items. So it's nice to have options.

You can see I stuck them both with some fig stickers onto a little acrylic stand. They can stand up just fine if the umbrellas (or uh, the gigantic hand cannon) doesn't overweight them, but I like the original umbrellas on them, so on the plate they go.

Zhehan's hand connects fairly securely. Junjun's hand, on the other hand, does not - you can see it's coming loose already from the weight of the umbrella. I'll be at my desk working away, and all of a sudden I'll hear a clatter and Junjun's hand has fallen off!

Since I have a mini heart attack whenever I hear things falling from my fig displays, it's just no good for my continued health. I'll need to glue his hand in permanently to keep it from falling out.

You can also see that the umbrellas themselves are not exactly perpendicular to the handle. When this set arrived, they just came in pieces (on purpose), and there was no way to snap or connect the the handle into the umbrella in any way. I ended up using some of the included fig sticker to stick the umbrella to the handle, which worked really well in the sense that the parts have never fallen apart, but less well in that it's quite flexible, and moves around quite a bit. It definitely lends to the overweight problem.

I'll need to also eventually remove the sticker and glue the handle to the umbrella so it's straight up and down.

The fig maker did a nice job with these suits. Obviously this is the worst angle for them, but I realized I've been talking so much about other stuff I hadn't even gotten to talk about the nice detailing (I really like the silver anchor buckle on Zhehan's suit) or the moon and stars in their eyes.

All in all, this is a cute and clever little set. It's also a huge pain unless you enjoy the interchangeability fun, which I actually do not, despite the laughs I got with the various weaponry. There is a lot of gluing to do with this set for me in the future, which is fine because I love it. No regrets. Just be forewarned, figthusiast friends!

My September 2022 toy haul is here. I got a few more prize figues, because I don’t learn... However, they were mostly Sasuke, and I can’t say no to Sasuke related prize figures. I got a second Q Posket version A to unbox, and the Ichiban Kuji Masterlise Rinnegan prize B, from the recent lottery they did for the anniversary of the Naruto anime (20th anniversary as can be seen on the box). He is kind of heavy, and big for a prize figure, so the S/H was a lot more than I had hoped, but oh well. DHL raised their prices recently too, so I doubt I’ll be paying any less from now on, on Japanese toy hauls. My wallet will weep for all eternity! I was glad to get him, but very disappointed that his eyes are at different heights on his face. I haven’t many of these figures with eye misplacements, so I didn’t even think about mine having flaws on the face, until he arrived... he was pretty expensive (for what I am willing to pay for prize figures), so it’s kind of a double bummer. There is a non-rinnegan version too, so I was hoping to get him as well, but now I'm kind of super worried about the eyes or any other facial flaws. I might add some photos of him alone, on another post, since this place has limits.

I’m super happy with the SH Robbie The Rabbit Nendoroids, they are super cute IRL, and I’m glad I was able to get both. I regretted not getting more of the mini Gecco Robbie The Rabbit figures, nor the stretchers, that was unfortunate. I wish I could get the Gecco 1:6, but I don’t like that the re-release is due to a non-Silent Hill game, so I probably won’t be getting them this time either. Muzan is super adorable, but kind of yellowy, which I feared -- very similar to GSC’s PUP Ken Kaneki’s plastic. I was hoping he would be a true white plastic, or at least not as yellowy. Other than my flawed Sasuke, I am super happy with all these, but I really need to stop hoarding acrylic stands, they are killing my wallet slowly but surely (they are getting ridiculously expensive as well).

kasumi passed by a figure store one day, seeing a very cute aya stage nendoroid. as she was curious to know if yours was there, she walked in.

she looked shelf through shelf, isle through isle, and even saw her own nendoroid in her search. (she already had it as a complimentary gift from the makers.) as she was reaching the end of the shelves, she saw yours— and there was only one stock left.

"there it is!" she gasps, and grabs the box to look inside. there was you, minature, with your signature stage hairstyle and hair color. there was even a mini version of your instrument inside!

she looked excitedly, turning the box to see the price.

"5300 yen...???!!!!"

she stood silently, mouth wide open in shock, before looking down and letting a loud sigh. she had been saving up for days for this, and yet she was 1300 yen short. she placed the box back on the shelf, which was followed by another hand grabbing the box.

"oh, kasumi!" the person exclaimed happily which caused kasumi to turn her head to the right. there you were, smiling while holding another box. "i was going to check out my nendo... why the long face?"

"oh, oh..!!! nothing!" kasumi smiled before turning to the box with your nendoroid in her hand. "i wanted that, but i guess i'll have to wait until i get enough..."

"huh? i was just about to buy this for you..."

"...eh?"

...

kasumi walked out of the store alongside you, who were both smiling at your nendoroids.

bonus: both of you put your nendoroids beside each other once u got home, and both posted it online.

ran was visiting a figurine store himari wanted to have a look at downtown with the rest of afterglow. you had previously told ran how excited you were for the release of your nendoroid that she had been (very secretly) saving up for it.

so when she saw you figure, she quietly approached it. she didn't want her friends to notice, and pretended to look at other figures aside from yours.

as the rest were looking all on their own (and ran could hear himari snapping photos of the band's nendoroids,) she picked up the box and inspected the price at the back of the box.

"...5300 yen..." she quietly mumbled before checking her wallet and saw 5000 yen. she sighed— she was short of 300 yen

"not enough, eh?" a voice was heard behind her as she turned around furiously, placing the box back on the shelf (surprisingly) gently yet quick. "i-i wasn't looking at anything."

"sure ya aren't!" tomoe laughed before picking up the box. tomoe's eyes widened after seeing the price and placed it back down. "how much do you have saved right now then?"

"...5000 yen." ran turned around, arms crossed. a dragged "ooooh" came from behind the two as moca grinned. "you saved up for this didn't you~"

"then... if you were dedicated to getting it, then we can help...!" tsugumi chipped in, and himari joined in holding another nendoroid. "sure!! here's 50 yen from me!"

"here's 100 from me too! it was from a couple tips!" "100~ it's okay, i have a lot more~" "me too! here's my 50! no need to pay back alright?"

"you don't have t-" the four put their coins on her hand. hesitantly, she held them and placed them in her wallet. "...thank you." ran replied.

"no problem!"

the five went home, with five different boxes in hand. ran couldn't be more grateful to have such generous friends in her life, and promised to pay them back one day.

bonus: "eh?! then tell them to take this from me as thanks!" you say as ran tells you the story from yesterday, placing eight 100 yen coins.

when aya's stage outfit nendoroid came out, you bought it the second it went live for sale, and jokingly told her "now you have to buy my nendoroid," not expecting one to be made anytime soon.

so when your nendoroid was announced to be released in two weeks, aya worked tirelessly at her job and patiently waited for pastel*palettes's paycheck as they were paid on a biweekly basis.

unluckily for her, your nendoroid came out before she even got the paycheck. she sighed, knowing how well nendoroids sell out quickly. she messaged you, apologizing profusely as she explained how she couldn't purchase it. you laughed over text, and said she's not required to buy it.

yet aya still felt bad. the day she got her paycheck, her savings totaled to what she presumed to be enough. she was doubtful if the figure was even still there, but she decided to check the nearest shop to try her luck.

she searched shelf by shelf, mumbling the nendoroid number to herself repeatedly. "i have to find it..." she thinks. as she began to lose hope, a box with a certain sequence of numbers and a signature smile was spotted in her rear vision.

she was so overjoyed that she took the box and smiled widely, trying not to freak out and cry right then and there. she checked the price, and sure enough, she had just over 5300 yen to buy it. she walked to the counter, and lent the 6 1000 yen bills to the cashier before accepting the change and exiting.

she walked home with tears threatening to spill, and a smile on her face.

bonus: in actuality, you asked the shop owner to reserve a box specifically for aya, as she was also a fan of her. you asked them to discreetly put it on the shelf once she arrived, and they agreed. once you heard her joy from over the phone, you can't help but smile.

she had been waiting and saving up from roselia merchandise sales, saving up a portion of her divided earnings and using the other for necessities. she never told you nor let you find out about it.

when the day finally came when your nendoroid went live, it was difficult for yukina to get inside the shop in itself. when she did manage to get in, she quickly (and gently) grabbed one of the remaining figures. checking the price, she noticed she was short of cash by a little bit.

she didn't let the disappointment get to her. or at least she tried. before she could put the box back, she bumped into a familiar brunette, holding a box with the school days yukina figure.

"oh, yukina! were you here to buy something?"

"supposedly." yukina still held the box on one hand. "although i'm short on cash. i'll get going now."

"wait," the brunette, lisa, stopped yukina. "how much do you have for the figure?" she pointed to the box on yukina's hand. "4700."

"hm, i do have exactly 600 left from buying this," lisa thought carefully before gently grabbing yukina's hand and placing the coins on it. "take it, treat it as congrats from the last concert. this should be enough, since the figure is 5300 yen."

yukina chuckled a bit. "roselia always delivers the best performances. there's no need for congratulation gifts, as we still have far more to go."

"aw, yukina. still, take it. make sure to do your best in roselia, okay?" she smiled at yukina, who smiled back. "i always give my best."

with exactly 5300 on her to buy the figure, she purchased it and left swiftly. with the help of ako and rinko, she was able to set up the nendoroid. maybe she could treat herself once in a while.

bonus: the rest of roselia noticed how there was a small figure popping out of yukina's bag when she went to practice. "she really loves that nendoroid, doesn't she?" lisa thinks, and chuckles. you noticed as well, and during the following weeks she could see a small yukina nendoroid pop out of your bag every now and then.

as much as kokoro remembers a lot of stuff, there are times she does in fact, forget. due to the sheer amount of hello happy performances, she missed the date of your nendoroid release.

which led to a ton of its stock running out quickly, and when she went to look for some, there wasn't any left in stores.

she asked many of the people in her home to look for it with her, and there wasn't any findings of official of these nendoroids being sold.

kokoro didn't lose hope after all. she isn't going to let this affect her, and money isn't an issue! even if she had to pay over 5300, 53000 or even 53 million, she could buy it!

...that is until you came to visit, holding a wrapped box in your hands.

"kokoro?" you called out, and the bright, blonde girl ran to you from the other room and jump-hugged you happily, almost making you fall over. "k-kokoro, i can't.. cant's move.."

"hi hi!! i missed you!" she smiled, and dragged you to her room upstairs her huge mansion. "did you attend any of our performances?"

"mhm! they were all so fun!"

kokoro wasn't really ready to admit she hasn't bought any of your nendoroids, so she tried steering away from the topic. "what's in that box? a present? for who?"

"ah, this is for you," you say. "you had a huge concert, so i wanted to buy this for you."

"ooh, a gift for me!" she happily took the wrapped present and looked at you. "yes, of course, you may open it."

she tore away the wrapped paper to see a box with a familiar figure inside, in neat and perfect condition, unboxed. "hah, you probably have a lot of that anyway from what you said last t—"

she hugged you tightly again. "yay! thank you! anything from you always make me smile!"

"k-kokoro, i'm... s-suffocating—"

bonus: she did admit she couldn't buy any of your nendoroids before it sold out. she even planned to make one custom made before you gave one to her. really, materialistic quantity didn't matter to kokoro— as long as it's from you, nothing could ever make her smile brighter. she also put the nendoroid beside hers

she really liked your nendoroid.

even though there wasn't a nendoroid produced for her or for any of the morfonica members, she still really liked yours and wanted to buy it.

after all, she already got a popipa nendoroid (courtesy of one of them, you decide who), so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to put miniature versions of both of the ones she loves on the same part of her desk.

see, mashiro doesn't have a lot of money. she, too, had to save up to get your figure. unluckily enough, she had only built up 1000 yen within the 5 days she spent saving up.

she went to the nearest figure shop anyway, and saw only a couple boxes of your figures left. she sighed, checking the price. 5300 yen. "i don't have enough," she thinks. "i won't be able to get this now..."

"oh, shiro-chan! you're here!"

"nanami-chan?!" the white-haired girl jumped at both the sudden approach and the sheer amount of boxes the girl in front of her was in her basket. "hm? i was getting all the figures i liked. is that not normal?"

"surely, that many all at once is not normal...!" mashiro thought, trying to stay calm.

"oh, are you getting one of these figures too?" nanami picked up another stock of your nendoroid, looking at its contents before putting it in the overflowing shopping cart. "i wanted to, but i never got enough money to buy it during release..." mashiro sighed, and put back the box.

"then i can buy it for you~ it's not that expensive, after all..." nanami says, getting another box before mashiro stops her. "n..no?! you don't need to, not at all..!!"

too late. nanami already was loading up the figures onto the register. guilt floods her, and she started thinking of ways to pay back nanami until the latter places a small paper bag onto her hands. "it's okay shiro-chan, i know how much you love her after all." she gives mashiro her signature smile before leaving with about 4 paper bags.

bonus: "i will pay her back one day... she was way too generous..."mashiro mumbled while you chuckled. "pay her back any way you want, but tell her i said thanks."

ever since you showed her the concept stage of your nendoroid, she had been saving up bit by bit every day.

she had worked long hours to earn enough cash from gigs and concerts from raise a suilen, as well as from merchandise, to save up for your nendoroid. you even caught her overworking herself until 2 in the morning, and had to convince her to go to sleep.

despite all these hard efforts, an unfortunate and tight schedule within ras performances led her to missing the day she planned to buy your nendoroid. she had enough, yet ras had so many shows, interviews, shoots, and practices that were too squished within the three weeks of their anniversary.

sadly, within these three weeks, the nendoroid sold out. she had to stay calm and not let the others know her disappointment, but masuki did notice and tried to get a response out of the bassist.

"it's alright. these weeks have been quite busy, after all."

"if ya say so..."

as she went home after the long weeks of events, she noticed you sleeping peacefully and a package on top of her bed in her bedroom. it had been wrapped neatly, like a present, with red bows.

there was a note on it too.

"your performances never fail to amaze me. i've seen all your performances these weeks, and you deserve a reward. i hope you like it, rei." signed by, you.

she chuckled, quietly, she broke and tore away the wrapping, careful to not wake you up, the package contained two boxes— one of what looks to be a custom-made figurine of herself and beside it was a box with your nendoroid in it.

there was another note too. "i heard your anniversary was coming up, so i requested a figure of you custom-made since last year. i saved a lot for this, so i hope you like it."

she couldn't help but smile.

bonus: she set up the two figures together on her desk until a pair of arms hugged around her neck. "go to sleep," a voice behind her tiredly said. "you need it..." rei smiled and turned around, removing and holding your hands. "alright, alright, i will."

i got a small amount of inspiration from a bandori hcs book on wattpad, but i misread the title and i thought they were referring to a nendoroid... huhu... when you're desperate for masuki fics that you get taken to dark places.... like fanfiction.net, wattpad, and, and.... tumblr... haha... (I AM NOT SAYING TUMBLR IS WORSE THAN WATTPAD AT LEAST THIS PLACE HAS GOOD ONESHOTS) anyways, i hope you liked these <3

Last year I made a custom nendoll of my OC Dominic. I used the hair parts from the Zhou Zekai nendo (which also comes with two really cute faces and a cute heart effect part I like using with my other nendos, which made me feel better about buying him just for his hair lol), a nendoll cinnamon body, and some custom faces from the Nendoroid Face Maker. I really like how he turned out…

Dominic is Cygnus’s bodyguard, and I do want to make a nendoll of Cygnus too, but…even with over 1500 nendoroids released there still haven’t been one with the same hair as him. Cyg having a pocket-Dom is really cute though…

The ‘real’ Dominic of more appropriate bodyguard size is hopefully coming soon. I actually ordered him as my birthday present last November.

Hi! You don't have DMs open on twitter (fair) but I'm a bit nervous to just reply openly to the related post, so I hope it's not too much trouble to message you here! But I was wondering where/how you ordered the custom faceplates for your nendoroid dolls :>?

I used this guide from DEJAPAN! There is an actual GoodSmile run custom face maker, but it’s only Japanese and only ships to Japanese addresses.

Tbh I was REALLY skeptical, but they shipped it (but the shipping prices were painful, so if you’re doing more than one, best to bundle them and have it all shipped at once) and they’re so cute!!!

I like Gintama. I like Nendoroids. And while I can only hope that there will be Gintama Nendoroid releases sometime in the far-off future, I started thinking about how to build my own...

Hair is probably the hardest part, mostly because it takes time to search for the best-fitting piece. If I could find a set or two that fits Gintoki’s curly hair best, and then paint them to get the two pieces to match, it should look okay.

For Hijikata, there a few more options, especially when it comes to v-bangs. I won’t think about how the best option is probably a light novel protag.

At the used store I’m scanning, the cheapest is the Mad Hatter hair for ¥1900. Izumi Sena’s hair is the most expensive at ¥4300.

The faces can be custom-ordered from Good Smile for less than the used hair pieces, around ¥1000-1500 for 2. I’m no good at doll makers, and Gintoki’s face is still not right (I couldn’t find a mouth that I liked), but I think I made a pretty decent Hijikata.

And then, there’s the bodies. The Nendoroid dolls fit the head perfectly well, while the Obitsu 11 dolls need a bit of modification for the head to stay on the body. On the other hand, Obitsuroids are fairly common. The Obitsu dolls have been around longer, are cheaper, and have more accessories available.

I guess the last thing would be the clothes, which would have to be handmade. That’ll probably be the hardest part of all.

From the anime "Laid-Back Camp" comes a Nendoroid of Rin Shima, along with her scooter! She comes with three face plates including a default expression, an eating expression and a satisfied expression. Her scarf is can be removed, and she can also be posed with her helmet on.

Optional parts include her scooter, a special lower half part for displaying her riding her scooter, her camping supplies and other bags, her phone, a hot sandwich maker, a pork bun, and a fork! A text plate that can be attached to the scooter is included to recreate a scene from the show.

Using the two different support arms in various angles, you can easily display Rin riding her scooter. Additionally, a social media text plate to recreate the iconic timelines from the series are included. Be sure to add her to your collection!
