Dio

Dio’s never been rejected- until you. When he first approached you, your Stand activated with a snap- a glowing, heart-shaped aura that kept him just out of reach, no matter how alluring he tried to be. 

He hated it. “What trick is this?” he sneered. “You think you’re immune to me?”

But the moment you caught feelings… that aura flickered, then collapsed. You could barely meet his gaze. Stammering. Blushing. Your voice soft and reverent like he was the center of the universe.

“You’re not like the others… I don’t want to push you away…”

Dio's smirk turned feral. “Oh? So now you want me?” He cups your chin, voice low. “How tragic. You’ve fallen prey to your own Stand.”

He loves how love-struck and flustered you become around him. It’s proof- irrefutable- that even you couldn’t resist him in the end. And he’ll never let you live it down.

Kars

Kars doesn’t understand human love. At least not until you.

Your Stand was fascinating to him- a radiant, glowing force that rejected anything shallow or lustful. The fact that you’d never been in love? Interesting. But then… him.

You start acting strange. Breath catching. Avoiding eye contact. Your Stand begins responding to him, not for you- binding your feelings to his, glowing faintly every time he looks at you.

And Kars notices. “You’re compromised,” he says, voice smooth. 

And you just nod, heart pounding. “I couldn’t stop it…”

Kars doesn’t tease- he studies. And then he claims. “Then it’s fate. You were made for me.” He takes you as his eternal mate, fascinated that his perfection finally awoke something in you.

Yoshikage Kira

Kira didn’t approach you for your looks- he was drawn to your quiet. You reminded him of a peaceful life, of stability. But when your Stand flared the first time he complimented you, he backed off, a little irritated.

Then… it stopped flaring. You started leaning toward him. Glancing at his hands. Blushing.

“Your Stand only reacts to people who are unworthy,” he murmurs, gently brushing your wrist.

You look up at him, glassy-eyed. “I never feel this way. I don’t want to feel this way. But with you…”

Kira smiles, just barely. “Then it seems I’m the exception to your every rule. How satisfying.”

He’s obsessed with the idea that you, so untouchable, are wrapped around him.

Diavolo

Diavolo was cautious. He doesn’t trust easy. And when your Stand visibly rejected him the first time you met, he took it as a threat.

But then you started to shake around him. Not with fear- but awe. Desire. Devotion.

And your Stand shifted. Its hearts and threads of binding magic turned inward, like it was restraining you from getting too close.

He realized it before you did. 

You nodded. “I can’t control it. You make me feel safe.”

Diavolo shudders. He sees your power- how easily you could control others- and you gave it all up for him. He promises to protect you obsessively, even violently.

No one else gets to you. No one.

Doppio

Doppio is delighted. He was nervous around you- your Stand seemed so intimidating. Like a glowing net of hearts and chains that automatically pulled back from people.

But with him it was different. The glow was soft. Warm. You smiled at him instead of turning away. You even gave him a pressed flower from your notebook, whispering shyly, “I think I like you.”

Doppio melts. He's not used to people looking at him like that. And your Stand- your love-bound, divine power- says he is.

He calls Diavolo about it constantly. “Boss! I think they really like me!”

And Diavolo, amused but watchful, lets him have this joy.

You’re Doppio’s light. And now he’s yours.

Enrico Pucci

At first, Pucci saw your Stand as a divine gift- a way to test the world’s sins. It rejected those who weren’t pure, after all.

But then it reacted to him. Not in rejection but acceptance. Your aura shimmered with trust, adoration, faith. And Pucci felt his heart stop.

“You… you see me as worthy?”

You flushed. “I tried not to. But… I trust you. Completely.”

And Tooru relished it.

I want to know more about the m9 artist au!! I remember reading a post or two about it a billion years ago (and would love to read them again) 💜

so ever since i drew that lil thing of essek painting a frank stella inspired painting (or even before), ive been thinking of what kinds of art each of the m9 would do. essek ofc is inspired by a minimalist show that i went to here, all the big names from that movement were shown, but those really dark, sinkhole-like paintings are speaking to me. another artwork of boxes made of mirrors also seems like the thing he would do too

there's a kiln here that we visited which was huge, and surrounding it were artists' studios and some other ceramic sellers, i imagine the clay family having a place like this in the middle of nowhere amongst the trees, and caleb would do his work there

anyways because at heart im a shadowgast luver its centred around them,, they meet at an artist residency or something like that and its an incredibly slow burn that involves talking and not-talking and looking and not-looking. in the end i am but a simple wong kar wai fan so. that kinda vibes would definitely influence this, i would describe it as a quiet burning i guess?? time skipy and words that are not said

i think im gonna rant a bit more about their different mediums and styles so i'll keep it under the cut

i think caleb sculpts figures and portraits, but in a sad, kathe kollwitz charcoal vibe. maybe some funky looking animals, perhaps some pots and vases to look at the pretty glazes. he's interested in using fire to burn texture into different mediums, like ive seen it being used on shellac to make a really cool net of ink looking structure.. but yknow, just seeing the aftermath of glazed ceramic from the kiln is enough, and probably better for him to keep his distance anyways

the clay family produces most of the ceramic to sell, vases, pots, plates, cups, teapots, yknow just a whole array. and its really colourful too, depicting every family members different style. i think caduceus would do some matte glazes with a lot of different colours, theyre all a little wonky but theyre better off that way anyways. he does some really mean ink calligraphy and painting though

jester definitely does,, everything, whatever her heart desires kinda thang. she makes pastel textile installations and lighthearted cute paintings, but theyre always so contemplative and soothing. she gets m9 a lot of work cus her mom has connections, etc etc. i really love the idea of jester creating works that talk about the female body and femininity (definitely not projecting no)

beau is a printmaker and photographer who's really experimental, she loves cyanotypes and printing flowers (for yasha), idk she seems like she would put fabric and rocks into the washing machine to see what would happen. u would probably catch her in someone elses studio learning about what they do or in the library learning about what old people did

veth works in a museum as a curator, getting beau to help her sometimes with gathering artworks and artists etc. she probably organises community art projects for kids and public art installations. her house is full of m9's artworks and various other artists shes worked with.

yasha does bouquets as her post-retirement part time job, prior to that no one really knows what she did ("she probably murdered a bunch of people and is now hiding from the government"). fjord draws comics for fun but is also not a job for him, molly is a question mark for me. but these guys probably wont be in it as much anyways

im still not sure what format i wanna do this in, im actually having fun just writing it in my notebook now (digital does not facilitate the creative juices) but i do want to do some visuals like fake movie stills or storyboards. maybe they will work together well???? dunno. working on the other shadowgasty thing im doing made me realise how much easier it is to draw when there's a script already there, so im writing the script for myself

im definitely not as practiced in writing as i am in drawing, but idk im just gonna have some fun and see where that takes me, meanwhile try not to feel too bad that its fanart HAHA (very bad habit)

edit: i just saw my previous thoughts on beau being an art journalist, but i kinda like this better.. but maybe she can do both muah

Wat voel je bij een gedenkteken?

Vanuit Collioure reden we met vrienden E en U over de golvende kustweg naar Portbou, net over de grens in Spanje. Rechts de bergen, links de zee. Daar bevindt zich het monument voor Walter Benjamin (1892-1942), de Duitse filosoof en schrijver. Als student in Duitsland in de jaren '60 was Benjamin voor U een belangrijke figuur. Ik ken Benjamin van zijn boek over passages, zijn Moskous dagboek, zijn jeugdherinneringen en bundels losse teksten, waarin niets hem te klein of te dagelijks is om over te schrijven. In een uiterst precieze stijl vermengt het beschouwen zich steeds met het observeren van zichzelf en de wereld. Ik vind die teksten zo genereus.

Op de vlucht voor de Nazi's belandt de Joodse Benjamin op de grens van Frankrijk en Spanje. Als hij op een moment zijn kansen om naar het vrije Amerika of Engeland te ontkomen ziet vervliegen, kiest hij in de nacht van 26 op 27 september 1940 voor de dood.

Er staat een stormachtige wind, de hemel is felblauw, de zon werpt harde schaduwen. Klimmend en dalend vinden we het kleine kerkhof en het monument dat ik alleen van plaatjes ken. Ik wacht tot ik alleen de donkere trapgang af kan dalen. Wanden, plafond en treden zijn van donker cortenstaal. Geen trapleuning, natuurlijk niet. Met mijn beide handen volg ik de ruwe wanden terwijl mijn voetstappen hol klinken. Beneden mij lokt de zee met witte kopjes van de harde wind. Halverwege de helling opent het plafond zich en wordt de doorgang gestopt door een glazen plaat. Het is een schrijnend beeld: een neerwaartse gang naar de zee, die halverwege wordt geblokkeerd. Genoeg symboliek te bedenken. Als ik me omdraai is de rechthoekige uitgang daar in de hoogte felblauw, zoals de ingang van buitenaf diepzwart oogt.

Op die glazen plaat staat in kleine letters een citaat van Benjamin gegraveerd, waarvan het eerste deel in vertaling luidt: 'Het is moeilijker om de nagedachtenis van de naamlozen te eren dan die van de beroemdheden.' Daar sta ik dan, ín het monument voor een groot denker en schrijver. Ik voel de behoefte om van hem weer een mens van vlees en bloed te maken. Zijn zelfgekozen dood is een even tragische als die van iedere naamloze zelfdoder. En dus zoek ik in de avond zijn tekst over de rijpe vijgen terug.

Benjamin dwaalt in de buurt van Napels wat rond onder een verzengende zon. Dan ziet hij een kar met rijpe vijgen. 'Het was lediggang dat ik erop toeliep'. Hij koopt ze en bij gebrek aan een tas of zak propt hij de zakken van zijn broek en jasje vol met de vijgen. Heel geestig beschrijft hij hoe hij moet vechten om die rijpe vruchten van zijn lijf te houden. Hij eet en eet. “Haat tegen deze vijgen steeg in mij op, ik had haast om schoon schip te maken, vrij te worden, voorgoed van heel dit welige, openbarstende goedje af te zijn, ik at om het te vernietigen. Het bijten had zijn oudste wil hervonden”*
