WE DID IT BETTER WITH ASICS AND WSS

Last week, we were honoured to sit down and discuss the 90s’ influence on sneaker trends and many more related topics with industry veterans and newcomers. We were invited to visit the impressive city of Warsaw, where this event happened inside the coolest sneaker store around, the Warsaw Sneaker Store or WS2.

The atmosphere of the event was super nice, accompanied by some thematic Japanese food and goodies. Everybody got the classic cheap noodle soup on the table but inside it, there was a super nice personalized card with Tamagotchi instantly throwing us back to the ‘90s. And speaking of the era, that was the main topic to discuss – how hunting for sneakers worked back in the day. Sergio, the co-founder of Sneakerness and Kish Kash, a great collector from the UK, had a lot to say about it and it was interesting to hear the insights into what it used to be like and how it evolved over time. The whole discussion was also led by the local guys from WS2, Bartek together with Adam were setting the overall direction as well as contributing to the debate. We also got some background information from the Asics guys regarding the near future, but that seems to be top secret for the moment :) There were, of course, many people speaking their mind and it was really cool to experience a community event of this kind. The whole round table was accompanied by an awesome Asics Gel-Lyte 3 private collection from a passionate collector. It’s very rare to see so many legendary collabs and other special releases under one roof.

After the official program, we enjoyed the regular networking and discussions in smaller groups. The whole event was concluded by getting drunk with the locals and visiting friends in the stylish Newonce bar. It was great to meet Janik (@jaadiee) with his hypebeast Gramps as well as the other attendees. The shoe game was obviously strong and we even spotted some vintage (shout out to Heiko) and true OG styles (s/o Bartek) in the crowd. The new wave of Asics sneakers was also well represented and I still envy the guys with the Awake collab on their feet :) Check out more on-feet shots on our Instagram account!

So, in the end, I would like to thank both the WS2 / Chmielna20 and Asics teams for the invitation and awesome experience. I wish there were more cool community events like this one!
