am currently catching up on the heart killers and having a delightful time

2025 QL Anticipations, Wishes, and Resolutions

After wrapping up my top 10 list for 2024, it's time to look ahead to next year with my most-anticipated upcoming series, series I'm planning to catch up on, and some resolutions.

Top 5 anticipated series in 2025

Us (pilot trailer) / dir. Fon Kanittha (GMMTV) / adaptation / rumored for January: Emi Thasorn had her Mark Pakin moment last year—she was literally everywhere (Last Twilight, Beauty Newbie, Wandee Goodday, The Rebound, The Trainee, and currently in Perfect 10 Liners), and that has built up my anticipation for her first leading role. I don’t actually have super high expectations for the storytelling, as this is an adaptation of an author with certain weaknesses, but I’m hoping the simplicity of the plot allows the acting to shine, and I’m enticed by the potential of two fresh GL pairings in EmiBonnie and ViewMim (if they do end up as a side couple).

Khemjira (pilot trailer) / dir. Ron Patarapon + Aoftion Kittipat (Mandee Works) / adaptation / currently filming: I am not the biggest fan of Domundi/Mandee projects, but this feels a little different in scope and flavor, with the supernatural horror elements and a largely rural setting. Also, I can’t lie, I'm excited for the combo of KengNamping and TleFirstone. I have a weird little fascination with the entire [vague handwaving] of DMD The Friendship and TleFirstone are my third-gen blorbos; I suffered through the entirety of Secret Love just to see if they kissed good (they did). Also, with the musical talent here, if we don’t at least get a banger OST out of this show I’m going to be so mad.

Knock Out (pilot trailer) / dir. Tee Bundit (Deehup/WeTV) / adaptation / recently did fitting: Boxing/martial arts settings are gonna be everywhere in 2025 (there are at least two more QLs that I can think of), but the combination of Deehup production quality, WeTV je ne sais quoi, and a promising new acting pair in GunNice is just delicious, especially after seeing that pilot trailer. Tee Bundit excels in not only drawing out excellent physical intimacy but also making show settings feel lived-in, and the action scenes in Jack & Joker were pretty decent, so I'm excited to see how he brings a boxing gym with ties to the mafia underworld to life.

Love You Teacher (pilot trailer) / dir. Dome Jarupat (Parbdee/GMMTV) / original / script being written: Boy, was this ever the most willfully misinterpreted pilot trailer from the entire GMMTV25 event. This post beautifully sums up most of my thoughts on that matter, but I want to add that after two episodes of watching PerthSanta elevate the milquetoast Perfect 10 Liners with impeccable chemistry, my excitement for them in these specific roles has grown exponentially. Give me the sunshine/grumpy dynamics with a poignant exploration of devotion and care! And we know p'Dome will bring the poignancy.

Girl Rules (pilot trailer) / dir. Jojo Tichakorn (Moongdoo/GMMTV) / original script / most likely late 2025?: p'Jojo is bringing the gospel of messy gays to the sapphics this year, and I will be seated front-row for it. I already know that Milk Pansa playing a stone cold casanova bitch is going to be A Problem for me, and I am on my knees begging for some honest-to-god hatesex or spite-fucking, just give me a truckload of whatever they have going on:

(I didn't include series like Cranium, Ticket to Heaven, and Love of Silom, which have either already been slated for 2026 or could go either way. Or series that simply don't have enough info, like 8 Hours. Ggurhggh I'm hoping the last two I listed above make the cut...)

5 series to catch up on

Pluto: I watched the first ep and definitely wanted to continue, but the series ended up on the back burner due to time. I also thought it would be a good one to binge due to the melodrama of the storyline. From the gifsets I've seen, I'm in for some good fucking food.

Century of Love: Honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to DaouOffroad's next project a little more (I think they are going to thrive in the bodyguard dynamic), but I know I'll want to watch something lakorn-ish at some point, and CoL will scratch that itch.

Reverse 4 You: This seemed to fly under the radar in fandom circles, but the concept sounded interesting (it has speculative elements like time manipulation and precognition) and by all accounts the acting was really solid. I also have Apple My Love (Kongthup + Ormsin lead = winning combo in my world) on the list but this one is just a little more compelling so it will take precedence.

Blueming + Where Your Eyes Linger (movie version probably): After losing my mind over LFCT, I promised myself to finally finish off the Hwang Daseul cinematic universe this year. 🫡

The On1y One: I prefer to binge Taiwanese series, so it's nice to have this in the back pocket for a slow weekend or whatever. See Your Love is making me remember how much the pacing of TWBLs drives me nuts sometimes, so we'll see when I'm in the mood again...

2025 resolutions

Prioritize GL! This might be obvious from the series I mentioned above lol. I did such a bad job of this last year, but luckily GL seems to be a growing slice of the pie. The things I'm looking forward to: new pairings, messier dynamics (GIRL RULES), and hopefully more original scripts (GIRL RULES!!!!) as well. Pipe dream: CAN I GET ONE (1) NON-FEMME SAPPHIC CHARACTER PLEASE...

Watch a series outside of the big four markets (Thailand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan). There are a couple of completed Filipino series on my watch list, so it's just about making time for it.

Write more consistently about QL. I did participate in Tumblr discussions this year, albeit spottily, and I'd like to do it more! I tend to put my thoughts in tags rather than adding onto a reblog or commenting on a post, so let's see if I can break that habit and contribute more directly.

a ranking & summary of my thoughts on gmmtv 2024 part 1

pluto: this is my everything already. A GL??? with two of my fave actresses film & namtan??? AND a complex, interesting plot??? I'm obsessed already!!! this looks so good I'm so happy it's happening & it will become my whole personality once it airs!!!

the trainee: I genuinely believed, even with the rumors that off, gun, view, kapook & sea would be in a show together, that we wouldn't get an offgun show this year. AND I WAS WRONG!!! is this what it's like to always fucking win??? like genuinely, my ship is THAT ship, I'm so lucky & happy and I love them so much <3

peaceful property on sale: duuuude, this looks so fun??? I was already hooked when I saw new's over the top character, but a ghost haunting show with taynew, jan & mook??? absolutely incredible! this looks ridiculous & I know I'm gonna love every second of it!

my golden blood: bruh, thank goodness I was warned about jossgawin in advance or I might have had a heart attack, but honestly????? AND I LOVE THAT FOR ME!!! this looks really good & fun, the characters are interesting and the story not too crazy or too basic. I can feel that it's gonna be good!

ploy's yearbook: a female-led show & the return of mond as a main??? BLESS!!! I love most of this cast, this looks fun as hell, I adore my gmmtv girlies... gotta watch this for sure! love seeing earth in more roles outside of his ship too!

enigma 2: I still haven't watched season one, am planning on watching it very soon, but I've heard great things so I'll be sure to catch season two as well! especially since I really liked toey jarinporn in the recent lakorn to the moon and back so I'm excited to see how she does!

my precious the series: as you know I've watched the movie in theaters, but I'm excited for it to be out as a series too, especially since there's extra scenes! seems like it might be even more lovable, and also if it's on gmmtv's youtube channel I'll finally be able to gif the iconic scenes :')

high school frenemy: this looks interesting & I like sky, but I feel like the plot doesn't make sense if it's not a love story... idk I feel like since this is adapted from a kdrama it's just gonna be a frustrating story that should be a romance but is reduced to bromance instead... I might still watch though :')

only boo: this looks kinda cute though basic. I don't know both main leads but might watch it.

we are: this has all ships I like, especially marcpawin & aouboom who deserve more spotlight, so I will be watching, but the plot seems really basic so I'm not expecting anything out of this world...

kidnap: this plot seems interesting but the cast isn't so... yeah.

summer night: I was so confused by who is supposed to be with who in the show lol, honestly I was down for dunkphuwin lmao, but this looks too messy for me :')

my love mix-up: I absolutely despise remakes even though I enjoyed kieta hatsukoi & like geminifourth, and although I'm certain this version will fix the chemistry issues of the original, I'm not gonna be watching it.

ossan's love thailand: same thing as for the previous show but even more so bc ossan's love is such a product of its time & shouldn't be remade in 2024 imo...

What I think GMMTV's airing schedule could look like in the next months:

- Summer Night on mondays and tuesdays in place of the DewPrim series, I don't remember the name right now. Already confirmed

- Peaceful Property on wednesdays starting late august/september

- Kidnap on fridays when My Love Mix-Up ends on september

- The Heart Killers, Thame Po and Pluto. Two of them in place of the Vice Versa rerun and The Trainee when they end, so saturday and sunday in october/early november. One of them will have to wait until at least the middle of december when the friday series ends. My guess is Pluto and The Heart Killers in october/november and Thame Po in december

- I don't know what will they do with the thursday slot when The Eclipse rerun ends, will they air another QL like they did with We Are? Or another rerun? Perfect 10 Liners seems similar to the We Are format but if they air only one episode a week it will be airing for more than half a year 😅

I'm still missing High School Frenemy which was postponed due to an accident on set, I don't know if they have resumed filming or when it could start airing. Summer Nights just ended filming a few days ago so the release seems a bit rushed, maybe High School Frenemy was supposed to get that slot. So perhaps it'll start airing when Summer Nights ends its run

Turtles Encounters Her First Full GMMTV Upfronts Experience: A Personal Journey Into GMMTV2024

LOL, I don't mean to be dramatic -- I was around a little bit (?) last November for the GMMTV2023 upfronts, and I honestly did not know what was going on, except to scream about Cherry Magic Thailand. Back then, I was much more of a Japanese BL gal (see: Cherry Magic), but now I'm down with the GMMTV scene, as it were, through my Old GMMTV Challenge project, and I'm ready to wax on deez trailers.

One huge overall note: YES TO DUDES NOT BEING IN BRANDED PAIRS. Your Gawins, your Ohms, your Thors, your Joss-es. YES. This is an exciting line-up to me to see the dudes getting mixed up. As much as I loved Be My Favorite, I don't need to see GawinKrist again.

I am stealing the formats of the wonderful @bengiyo and @neuroticbookworm to offer my thoughts on the trailers! (My list is literally gonna look like everyone else's list, LMAO).

FUCK YES

My Golden Blood: Joss, Gawin, Mond, Neo. Vampires. Blood. Baseball bats. LSKDJFLSJDFLKSJDGLKJSDLGKJSLDKGJLDSKF. The SFX are gonna be SO BAD. Joss sucking Gawin's blood will be SO FUCKING GOOD. I AM STILL SCREAMING. OBVIOUSLY.

Kidnap: Ohm Pawat's next BL. While he had previously said that he wanted Bad Buddy to be his last BL, the bullying scandal that he encountered this past year makes this decision a sensible one to get back on the brand engagement train. His co-star, Leng Thanaphon, is gorgeous looks like he's making a strong debut. I am very happy for Ohm, but I think I am a bit spoiled by knowing his previous non-GMMTV oeuvre so well (Make It Right, Dew, He's Coming To Me), and I'm feeling like GMMTV isn't pushing his acting chops as much as they used to. (Meaning.... I'd be okay if he left GMMTV one day to do more movies.) Time will tell, but I am happy for him -- he is a king of BL, the most prevalent actor on the OGMMTVC list, and this'll let him rebuild his career. He deserves it, and is a personal fave of mine.

Wandee Goodday: YO. So obviously this looks intriguing! But like -- I'd expect Golf Tanwarin to be doing this for another network. Full-frontal, heavy (HEAVY!) sex talk, smoochin' everywhere. I'm impressed GMMTV is going here. It's perhaps because I have Domundi on the mind heavily with my recent ZeeNunew education, but I have been feeling as of late that GMMTV has been choosing fluff and/or crap romance (SEE: DANGEROUS ROMANCE -_-) over... pure sex, as it were, and this is getting closer to a Domundi-style show than even where Only Friends went. I LOVE THOR. I LOVE THOR!!!! I'm excited for this, and me likey the looks of Inn.

On Sale: I am LOVING this new we're-not-in-school-we-are-just-insane TayNew era. And Jan is a FAVE FAVE FAVE of mine, and looks like she's gonna level this show the FUCK up. I'm SO INTO THIS.

Pluto: For sure I am watching this for Film (oh, and hi, Thor and Arm!). I'm not the biggest Namtan fan? I wasn't the biggest fan of her acting in Midnight Museum or UMG. Kinda flat. But she's at the top of the popular actress list at GMMTV, and it's great that someone of her prominence is flirting in the QL space. Film, though -- Film has CHOPPPPPPPPPPS and will likely eat this role. We might never get EarnPear, but this might be close.

My Precious: For NanonFilm, anything. But this is just the movie with more scenes, right? I don't know if it was ever going to get international distribution as a movie anyway. K. I'll buy it!

The Trainee: Tell me where I've seen OffGun do movie shit before -- and I don't mind the slight theme repeat. KapookPiploy, huh? I have not seen Vice Versa, but I really enjoyed Sea Tawinan in that. Gun crying, not surprising, but I officially stan OffGun because of Not Me, and I'll stand by this one.

My Love Mix-Up: See here for my initial thoughts. I came to Thai BLs from Japanese BLs. Kieta Hatsukoi was one of the first JBLs I discovered specifically through Tumblr. Japanese BLs are so varied -- and I think, when one is watching JBLs, to have a gentle/general sense of how sex is perceived/managed/dealt with in Japanese culture. I'm not gonna get into this too much here, but the ways in which Japanese and Thai societies deal with sex is very different. Anyway. I think my own mental dissonance on this conversation is coloring my thoughts on My Love Mix-Up Thailand/Kieta Hatsukoi Thailand. Pairs are not repeated in Japan (unless you have second seasons of the same show), and to have an established branded pair in GemFourth in Ida and Aoki's roles -- I'm just, I'm not sure. I don't want the show to feel pressured to go to a place it wouldn't go to without a branded pair. Will Thailand pay homage to Ida's unique and inquisitive demi identity? Can the branded ship economy manage that? I dunno. Let's wait and find out.

Summer Night: I'm going to be gentle on this one. I like that Phuwin takes on various het roles. I happened to LOVE HIM in The Warp Effect. And I like Bimbeam in here -- she actually showed some firm chops in 55:15 Never Too Late. Only if the schedule allows will I take this one, but I actually like the smell of it a bit.

Ossan's Love: What in the EarthMix. Ossan's Love was often cited as queerbaiting material for early Japanese BLs (EDITING TO ADD: just want to clarify that that statement literally came from my early days in JBLs reading Twitter; thank you to @twig-tea and @nieves-de-sugui for the clarifications in the comments!); I have never watched it, but understand its importance in the Japanese BL repertoire. I'm gonna remain sus on this until we find out more. (Although, I'm VERY EXCITED to see a channel like TV Asahi break out of the Japanese paradigm of not collaborating with other countries to get this on Thai TV air. TV Asahi and TV Tokyo for Cherry Magic are real groundbreakers, and I do dig that.)

Only Boo: When I was talking about this show with friends, and @neuroticbookworm said "Book's in this," I WAS LIKE, WHO'S BOOK? LMAO. Let me see Book away from Force for a GOD DAMN SECOND. I know we don't know anyone in here, but the actors actually seem strong! This was a fun preview.

We Are: Lots of couples. PondPhuwin, MarcPawin, WinnySatang, Aou and that other dude. What is this, a New Siwaj show? I might have enough to watch next year without needing to watch ANOTHER school drama. We'll see.

Enigma 2: Not a fan of Win Metawin, and didn't watch the trailer.

High School Frenemy: I understand this is a K-drama remake of School 2013, which I haven't seen. I... am trying to understand the story here, but happy for View/June/Mark/Prom to be in a show together, and I'll pay more attention when the show's closer to airing.

Atp i am only interested in the pluto(cuties😍) and the trainee

The quality is definitely…interesting. Some of the concepts look fine but others are really leaning into cliche/tropey (My Golden Blood has been on my mind since the livestream, and not in a good way. Still struggling to believe Gawin is going to be doing that…).

I need Jojo (and Aof) to have a series in Part 2; more specifically, an FK series. At this point I might as well change my username to FKMafiaEnthusiast because the thought of them in a mafia drama excites me far more that it should.

I completely respect if FK want to do something lighter. I get it. But their emotional range is too superb not to get some angst. Leave the lighter, fluffier stuff to newbies while they expand their acting range. FK are already capable of performing at maximum angst level.

I agree Pluto and The Trainee were some of the only acceptable showings from Part 1. Glad they’re finally committing to giving us more GLs, and you can never go wrong with OffGun (Though I’ve seen people speculating that they might also get another series in Part 2, which would mean they’d be starring in 3 series between the end of this year and next year…I love OffGun, don’t get me wrong, but I sense a major imbalance here).

Now the initial shock of seeing only one of the new wave of main couples in a show from these upcoming projects, I decided to go back and rewatch the GMMTV trailers. And to be honest, now I’m not sat here going ‘Who are you? And who the frick are you? Wait, you, I know, hurrah.’ I did come out thinking there were a number of shows I’ll likely give a chance, or at least check out the first episode.

Ploy’s Yearbook - looks cute and yay girls, but not for me I feel. Next!

We Are - mixed feelings for this one, but I’ll give it a chance. I’ve not really gotten into anything that’s a simple fluffy uni romance in what seems like forever, which is what this is giving, so it’s going to have to charm the pants off me, have something about it & excellent characters/chemistry to keep me invested beyond 3 episodes. Happy to see PondPhuwin again, as well as MarcPawin. Not been super interested in the other two couples as of yet, but that’s mainly down to the few things I’ve seen them in, or shows I’ve skipped so maybe missed out on chances to get attached to them. 4 couples though, that’s a lot of cast to juggle but not impossible, and I guess it depends which are maybe main vs side couples and how complex their stories/relationships are. Fingers crossed their stories can be woven together well.

The Trainee - I’ll give it 1 episode to win me over. OffGun is an odd one for me. Theory of Love really didn’t endear them to me as a couple. I wasn’t keen on Off’s character and to me the story just felt so drawn out. I was so put off that I couldn’t bring myself to watch the absolute masterpiece that is Not Me until much later, after realising First was in it. Not Me was a serious drama and OffGun were amazing. I’m waiting to see how they fair in something more recent that is on the lighter side so am planning to check out Cooking Crush when it finally gets here. If CC wins me over then I might go into The Trainee more excited. Though I’ve been enjoying the more serious shows recently, I still enjoy lighter stuff so if it’s fun and can hook me with something, then I’ll maybe tune in past the first episode.

Only Boo - I’m glad I watched these trailers again as my first impression of this one was very much a nope. But I dunno, on a second watch it did seem far more charming than I’d given it credit for. I’m definitely going to watch the first episode, because I feel like maybe it’ll pull a My School President on me where I wasn’t going to bother watching but then I did and it was one of the cutest and most fun things I’d ever watched and fell in love with the characters. So, though I still feel that it might not be my thing, if it brings the fun and charm in the first episode, then I’ll keep tuning in.

Pluto - definitely will be checking this one out. I’ve been waiting on 23.5 for forever (give it to me already) so I’m glad that a second GL is in the works. The plot looks pretty interesting so unless they somehow manage to mess everything up and make it terrible, I plan to be watching every week.

On Sale/Peaceful Property - haven’t looked up what the actual title is lol. Is this just bromancy? Again haven’t gone looking for an answer but it looks fun and ridiculous and TayNew are here (this gives me OTT New like he was in Warp Effect and I’m living for it) and Janhae who is my queen 😍. So yeah, I think this one could be really fun and spooky so shall be checking this one out for sure.

Ossan’s Love - yay, a new EarthMix show. Really excited as enjoyed the original office-based season. (I mean the airport setting was cool and all but I missed my Maki in season 2🙁) Anyway, this could be pretty fun and EarthMix are my first loves. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how long it takes to get the project going, but it’s definitely one I’ll be watching when it comes out.

My Golden Blood - *narrows eyes* okay being a huge Buffy/Angel and Vampire Diaries fan back in the day I’m cautiously interested as do enjoy vampire stuff. Now having seen the trailer, this could be great or it could be kinda cringe. I guess it depends how the show is presented as I do love some campy horror fun but I imagine this is more on the serious side so we’ll have to see how they balance things and how much flying and vampire hissing they do at each other come the proper thing. Joss and Gawin was not a pairing I was expecting but I could see it working. Also, with the special blood mention, kinda got me thinking about Kissable Lips. Anyway, shall be giving it an episode to win me over.

Kidnap - again, not gone looking but is this a BL or is it bromance/gonna look after you cos you’re like my little bro type thing? Either way, it looks kinda cool and shall be giving it a shot as love the bromance buddy action movie aesthetic. So the more competent protector and his hapless partner lol.

Summer Night - I know I’m not alone in thinking we had a DunkPhuwin series for a whole 5 seconds lol. Not my kind of show so… next!

Wandee Goodday - this one I’m definitely interested in checking out. Seems a solid, on the mature side drama so hopefully it’ll turn out great. Nothing much to add, just looking forward to this one.

High School Frenemy - never been a fan of this kind of enemy schools/classes in anime and manga so not planning on watching this at all. Enjoy if it’s your kind of thing.

My Love Mix-up - I love the Japanese adaption, but like for Cherry Magic I have no knowledge of the manga or how close the live action versions were to the source material. As tv shows/stories I really like them, so will be interesting to see what differences there might be with these new versions. I think Gemini and Fourth were a great pick for this. Definitely watching this one.

Enigma 2 - didn’t watch Enigma 1 so until/if I ever get to that, this one will have to wait.

And there we have it. A few that interest me so definitely want to give a watch, and most of the others I’m willing to give a chance. Looking forward to hopefully seeing more of the ‘merchandise’ couples in the 2nd part.

Two GL(s) Considering the fact that 23.5 got moved to next year we did get 2 GLs but I'm still gonna keep the one spot for part 2.

Highschool setting gotta skip to part 2 I guess

University setting Pluto seems to have the story start during their university years but it also seems to be a bit more mature

2. Eight BL(s) it was eight + a couple of questionable ones (which made it to the lakorn category after all), I did pretty good

Office setting OffGun came to warm my hear again with The Trainee

Something mature I wanna say Wandee Goodday because GreatInn are both seasoned actors and although it seems to be more of a comedy show, I was really rooting for seasoned actors and storylines where the characters are older

Something supernatural Somebody at GMMTV must be smoking something really strong because whoever saw Gawin and said I need Joss paired up with him (or the opposite) must be either a genius or not okay in general, anyway My Golden Blood looks cringe af but I hope they make something AT LEAST watchable (don't fail my boy Gawin)

If she wasn't related to Kai or Lea she probably wouldn't be where is. So that leads me to believe she is a Gemini rising. Ik this wouldn't be what I had in mind, but it makes sense, actually. First, the family genes are STRONGGG man. Second, her Sun and Mars would be in her 3rd house of siblings, media and communication as well.

She also has her Venus and Lilith in Gemini, which would be in her first house. Venus in the first house doesn't always mean beauty but can represent creative and musical abilities. I love Hiyyih's singing voice; she is a great singer. Its annoying how her label doesn't showcase them, though. Also, all of her siblings are in the industry as well. Her Lilith is at 29 degrees. So that is an excellent indication of the great jealousy magnet she gets. Literally, I remember how much disgusting hatred this girl got the moment she entered Girls Planet. I had to defend her multiple times because it was so disgusting and cruel. And for no reason as well! Lilith, here are two words: Star Magnet. She has a CRAZY dedicated fanbase (Aries 11th house) that defended her all when she didn't even debut yet. Seeing her fancams she's pretty charismatic and has a sharp face too.

Pluto in Sagittarius would be in her 7th house of enemies. As I said this girl had grown adults hating on her for no reason other than her having famous siblings and for not fitting the bs kbs standards. This must have transformed her in a certain way.

Mercury, Jupiter and Asteroid Fama in Virgo would be in her house of Family. Mercury, ruler of communication/media=4th house, rulers over family. Yeah, you get it lol. Jupiter shows she can gain and be lucky with the aid of family and close people around her and gain fame (17th degree)

Saturn in Cancer shows she's a kind, nurturing person. A family must mean a lot to her, and she seems really sweet to anyone who wants to frame her otherwise. The 19 degrees of Libra show she probably will mature regarding her musical gifts. Perhaps she is maturing her vocals or something.
