deity aid me but i'm so tired of earth rolling news talking about jarra tell morrath 24/7. believe it or not, there are millions of other people with novak-nadal syndrome that live on this planet too.
figures the only one that the damn exos would care about is the one who's basically a norm anyways 🙄
nextstephome:
okay look. i'm going to try and be gentle here because your bio says you're just 14 (which, yikes, do your proparents know you're out here putting so much identifying info on the internet? please please please for your own safety remove your settlement's name from your profile)
commander tell morrath is not even close to being "basically a norm".
you do realize that she had to go through a life-threatening surgery to be able to survive on other planets, right?
and you do know that if her surgically implanted web were ever malfunction or be irreparably damaged, she'd die, right?
that's not something that norms have to go through.
and not just that, even though she can travel to other planets now, that doesn't erase an entire childhood of growing up handicapped. it doesn't erase all the trauma and ridicule that she went through, same as you and me.
just because she ended up lucky enough to have a family that wants her doesn't erase the fact that she grew up feeling alone and unloved. it doesn't change the fact that some bigoted zeus sewer rat decided to throw skunk juice at her just for the way she was born.
the nuking exos who are prejudiced against us are still going to find things to hate about her, even if she CAN travel to other star systems now. because their hatred was never actually about that.
so stop doing their jobs for them by trying to tear her down.
at the end of the day, commander tell morrath has way more in common with us apes than she does with those exos, and that's never going to change.
#commander tell morrath #politics #guys please don't send hate to op they're just a child #op once again please remove the identifying info from your profile i'm being so for real here

Hi, sorry to be weird but I just wanted to say that I really LOVE your posts from the portal future blog. I didn't have any ideas for asks to send to that blog but I just wanted to say that it is awesome and I love it and seeing all the different characters you've created/online presences you've created for it.
Hi, thank you so much, I'm really glad that you're enjoying it! I haven't been posting much this past week because a lot of my creative energy is going towards 2 portal future fics i'm working on (one is the new chapter of knight and his sun, the other is an au where jaxon takes a civilian sabbatical after the drago 2781 sequence and develops a whistleblower organization on earth about the welfare of handicapped children)
All that to say though, i've been having lots of fun with the posts from the portal future blog! A couple of the urls are just extras (which may or may not develop into recurring characters in the future), but other than jarra there are 4 characters who i've got semi fleshed out in my mind. If you or anyone else wants to send an ask but doesn't know what to ask about, here's some inspo:
wallamcranesarchnemesis: jarra, but doesn't want anyone to know she's jarra. Tumblr is where she puts all the infodumps that her friends don't want to listen to. Ask her about her opinion on anything in history and she'll be super excited to talk about it. For maximum humour send her an ask about commander tell morrath and watch her fumble and try not to reveal her secret identity
onesmallstep: off-world student currently on earth for his pre-history foundation course! He's curious to get to know more about earth culture and is always willing to answer asks about what planet or sector he's from, what he thinks of earth, etc
nextstephome: a slightly older user who has interacted a few times with junglequeenstalea. They want to become a next step principal which is where their url comes from. Ask them about their "beef" with stalea, or anything about running a next step
talkarchaeologytome: an employee at new york main dig site command! Ask her about the solar 5 rescue or what it's like to work for dig site command
junglequeenstaleeeea: (4 e's in her name, don't get it wrong!) She's my favourite so far and i just feel very protective of her. Ask her about stalea of the jungle (isn't that show banned in next step??? It seems a bit inappropriate for a 14 year old...) or why she hates commander tell morrath so much lmao

Shoutout to all the proparents by the way.
It's not an exaggeration to say that we as a planet are going through a collective trauma right now as we adjust to our new normal, and proparents are having to deal with not only their own traumas, but those of their kids as well
So shoutout to proparents who have to help their kids navigate being claimed by their families while remembering their own parents who told them to nuke off when they reached out at 14
Shoutout to proparents whose kids are dealing with jealousy because they have classmates or friends in their next step who are getting their happily ever after
Shoutout to proparents whose bio kids cut off contact when they turned 18 out of shame, and are now going through the same thing again with their prokids who want nothing to do with them now that they have "real" families
Our world would be so much worse without the amazing proparents who love us and provide us with the stability we aren't getting from the other adults in our lives.
I know you're going through a lot right now, and I know you're hurting, but I want you to know I see you, and I appreciate everything you're doing for your kids.

Thanks for your posts about Pro parents. As one myself - I'm already seeing one of my kids (professionally) drift away from me. Trying to continue sending supportive messages, trying to not lose them, but... On the bright side, one of my bio kids who went low/no contact has been sending me messages again, and has apparently actually told his partner about my existence! And explained why. Luckily, despite his partner being annoyed at the lie, recent newsie coverage has made it clear why, and they are still together. They don't have a lot of credits - he moved to the frontier - and previously my son told his partner I disaproved of that. I didn't, but it was the cover he used. Maybe I should be angry and hurt about the years I missed, but...they've decided to save up credits to come for a visit. I'm going to get to meet my grandkids!
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I, and all the ProParents out there, are very grateful for your posts in support of us. This is a trying time for us all - and if I'm honest, doesn't even seem real yet. I mean, Earth, part of Alpha Sector? Norms treating us like we exist?
There will be downsides, as you mentioned. We Proparents put everything into caring for our own kids and our adopted kids. We don't get to see them full time, but that doesn't mean we don't love and care for them. To have our kids abandon us for their 'true families' is heartbreaking, I won't pretend it isn't. But it's nice to know we have a community out there who supports us. Sorry, this turned into a bit of a ramble!
nextstephome:
Don't apologize for rambling! I always love getting asks like this. Just knowing that I was able to help make at least one person feel better is more than enough for me.
I'm so so happy for you that your son has gotten back in contact with you! I'm sure it doesn't erase all of the hurt between you, but it's definitely a start, especially knowing that they're planning to come visit you when they can!
I know it's heartbreaking to see your prokids start drifting away from you and you can tell me to nuke off if what I'm about to say is inappropriate, but this is how i think of it:
our current proparent system is broken, and it has been for a very long time. ten prokids for each proparent is just too many to be able to provide the kind of support that these children need.
i think it was wallamcranesarchnemesis who said it best in one of their posts a while back: "We have proparents, but they're only around for 2 hours a week, which means that while they're able to be there for the big things, the ones that we learn the most from actually tend to be the older children in our Homes/Next Steps...We are quite literally a society of children raising other children."
Please don't take this as me criticizing proparents or saying you're not doing enough! You're all massively overworked, and are being asked to do more than is humanly possible.
And as awful as it sounds to say this, those children who are pulling away from you are (hopefully) getting the kind of one-on-one support that a proparent can't provide them, and their absence means that you now have the time and resources to provide more support to your other kids who need you more now than ever. It means you can spend more time with your own families as well!
I know it doesn't make the hurt go away completely, but hopefully this perspective makes it a little easier to deal with?
Much love from me, and keep being amazing!

so i just found out today that my aunt who i've been chatting with on and off for the past few months is a trained therapist and has been sneakily teaching me healthy coping mechanisms without my consent :/
and the worst part is, they're working.
how is everyone else's day going?

exactly! like, i do agree that it would be nice to see others with immune syndrome on the newzies more, and we are slooowly getting to see that over time. but for now it makes sense that commander tell morrath is the one that's getting talked about.
she was part of the solar 5 rescue!
she was awarded the artemis and the pallas athena!
she's the one that uncovered the alien artefact! (along with all the other talented archaeologists at zulu dig site)
she's a military honour child from the nobility of zeus!
she's a descendant of tellon blaze
she's basically a marketing dream come true, so of course earth rolling news is going to focus on her, because she's bringing in the views. she's humanity's hero right now and she's showing people that not only are handicapped people normal, we can also be brilliant and brave and outstanding.
commander tell morrath got her foot in the door for us, and it's our job to support her and continue the work she started
#also i think a lot of people forget that she's literally just 18? #like she's so competent and smart and intimidating #but she's also barely an adult
