Venice: Burano

Eventbrite Task

Burano walking tour: Venice’s most colourful island.

The virtual tour started on start zoom lasting for an hour. Our tourist guide started off the tour with a little history and knowledge about a beautiful and relaxing farming environment a vineyard “venissa” he then quizzed us on zoom about the most famous garden to keep us minds fresh! While touring he advised us how to travel there, transportation what buses to take and what times of the year would be best. We soon starting getting close towards the colour island Burano. The island’s is famous for its colourful houses, laces (the fabrics), the fishing and bakery goods. They have this locally tradition to keep a bottle of water outside their main house door to keep strays away, the theory is that while walking past the cat will see its reflection and get scared away, it’s quite funny because at the end we saw it actually happen. It’s very common to see flower trees, plants growing outside their homes to give their interior a decorative look. Back in the olden days, it would be really foggy so the locals decided to help fishermen guide themselves back home they painted the houses in bright colours which fishermen matched the colour on their boats. I chose this event because it’s my dream to travel around Italy and hopefully one day make it one of my summer homes. Booking this event was pretty easy, I searched up on Eventbrite events outdoors and that’s how I discovered their page, “nextstopitaly” the tours are free so the process of purchasing a ticket wasn’t much of a hassle. they emailed my ticket and details on how to join the call. they were very good with keeping me informed, sent me reminders so I don’t miss but if you do miss it, they also send you a recorded video and updates on future events you’d like to visit. Although the Virtual tour was great I would off prefer to be there in person to enjoy sightseeing the amazing coloured houses, take pictures (maybe for Instagram). There isn’t much I’d want to change to make the event better other than I would off loved to be there in person.
