Niké stops cleaning Ratha’s saddle and looks down at it, thinking for a moment. She doesn’t look back up as she answers, fingers gently tracing over the cured leather and metal.

“I never thought about it.” She replies, truthfully. “Riders...Usually their partners stays with them for life, and then some. They can’t be released into the wild, while they are still monsters...they’ve been reared by us, they trust us too much. They would be an easy target for the Hunters...” She wasn’t answering the question.

“Honestly... I don’t know. Ratha is...he is different than the rest of the partners. For a whole year he had spent time in the wilds, surviving until he wound up in Gildegaren.” Her hands ball into fists, she didn’t like to think about it. She wondered if Cheval has been asked the same, or if he had ever thought about what happens to Rathi when they died. 

“Maybe...if I have a family, he can protect them, and if one of them becomes a Rider, he would be their partner. If not...I guess I’d...I don’t know...”

I wasn't very active here until recently as I've fallen into the DGM rabbit hole for the 4th time (or maybe more lmao). I've read a couple of fanfics, binge watched the last episodes of the old anime (Attack of HQ) + the 2nd season. I've also rewatched episodes when Allen was in the Asian Branch today. I feel very nostalgic I guess lol. I really miss seeing the squad together, interactions with the HQ's Science Division, etc. There's so much angst, much more compared to before (I don't keep up with the latest chapters but that's my impression) 😭

Anyway, I'm happy to see that you're still around!

Hi! Thanks for the ask! I'm doing alright, had a little bit of extra time recently so reread the manga finally after a few years i think? Very nostalgic for sure but also it really does hit different as i get older and the fact that theyre child soldiers sinks in a bit more ;v;

I do miss the more like laid back moments where everyone's a little more chill and less uhhhh constantly suffering but idk when we'll get back to that in the story. We did just conclude a rather long flashback scene tho so who knows? maybe sensei will grace us with something lighthearted? maybe we'll finally get to see lavi again? pls lol

Oh my god you're so right in your Lenalee post! I actually really like her and the way she's written!! I really like how her coping mechanism to being held captive by the order (after komui joins) is to accept that it's just all she has now. And she goes all the way with that. These people are her friends, her family! They're most important to her!

At the same time she knows the order is hurting all of them and a load of other people besides and so she still resents it!

She cares much more about her family than she does the mission or the war or the Akuma. And she's willing to just go along with all the order does bc of that as well (not that she could rly do all that much but still)

And that's a fascinating kind of selfishness as well.

She's well written!

And I want to know what's going on with her right now! Lavi is missing! Allen is a fugitive! Kanda was a fugitive and is now part of the order only in name! More corrupt things are going on then ever.

What does Lenalee do? What does she feel? She doesn't care about the order, just the people and now they're all splitting up!

The order lost a lot of exorists (to death or 'desertion') and in return got Timothy. A literal child. Lenalee is probably one of the most powerful exorists currently there! So what's going on with her?? Is she maybe considering leaving as well? Following Allen and Kanda? Searching for Lavi? Or does she feel duty bound to the others to stay?
