I almost forgot to post these--but I finally got Hymn and Kairi's field uniforms finished! These are the uniforms they'd wear on raids and such in the kingdom with Mack.
I'll include some notes and explanations for design choices below the cut, and add these to their muse pages when I get home from work 👍
All employees under Mackentire sport animal skull masks; the Fleshlings have horse skull masks (modified to have sharp canines for the intimidation factor), while the Labrats have rat skull masks. (These masks are obviously not taken from the animals of the same names, but custom made and fit to the head of the individual wearing it).
Anyone who does fieldwork with Mack is required to wear additional armor. All of the fleshlings have matching uniforms which include the following; a skull mask, and chest armor, pelvic armor, shoulder pauldrons, and gauntlets over the forearms and shins, all with a navy blue color scheme and orange accents.
However, 'elite' members are allowed to tweak and customize their fits, so long as there is adequate coverage to keep vital organs safe. They may also select their own animal for their skull mask to be modeled after.
Now that we've gotten all of tghat out of the way, let's get into Hymn and Kairi's individual uniforms!
Hymn Nikolaou, alias "The Siren"
Hymn has modified his uniform to be slightly more streamlined and lightweight to accommodate his fighting style, and possible combat in water. His bodysuit has mesh cutouts around his gills for easy breathing when under water. In addition to using his voice and bare hands for combat, his gauntlets have long blades attached for slashing attacks.
His mask is modeled off of the Dunkleosteus, an extinct genus of large arthrodire (jointed neck) fish that existed during the Late Devonian period. He chose this creature for it's reputation as one of the first marine apex predators, and stories told to him by his mother growing up of ancient sirens who hunted them and used their bones for armor and weapons.
Hymn is the only member who does not have any additional covering over his mouth.
Kairi M. Scott, alias "The Scarecrow".
Kairi modified her uniform to allow for more range of motion to accommodate her mixed martial arts style of fighting, which relies mostly on quick punches and powerful kicks. She wears additional wrapping and plating on her hands with bone protrusions below her knuckles, for extra protection when punching and for pin-point damage. She wears a belt with two harnesses attached; Around her waist are various mixtures and powders that she makes herself within the lab, with the following intentions; Green serum for health/quick healing, blue powder for paralysis, red serum for a temporary boost to all 'stats', and a purple powder for poison. On either thigh she has holsters for her handheld weapon of choice, two switchblade scythes.
Her mask is modeled off of a Jacob's sheep skull, a piebald and often polycerate (multi-horned) domestic breed. She chose this animal for it's unique horns, and a reclamation of being called 'the black sheep' of her family by her mother growing up. Despite the association with 'sheep' being 'followers' at the mercy of their shepherds, she sees herself less of a follower keeping her head down and doing as she is told and more of a wolf wearing a sheep's skin to protect the flock from within. This further plays into her choice of alias 'scarecrow', which was taken from the name of decoys made by farmers in the shape of a man and often stuffed with hay or straw to scare away birds and wildlife from their crops, thus watching over or 'protecting' the fields.
Kairi additionally wears a black hood over her bodysuit which attaches to her mask to hide her blonde hair, which could lead someone to discovering her true identity.

Context? Warnings? There’s literally none. All you need to know is that these two idiots are in a room and not fighting. When does this take place? I don’t know. Probably sometime post-Retribution. Should probably say Spoilers just in case. The point is: this is stupid but I wrote something and it gave me a giggle at 3am.
“Did they call it the Farm because there’s a bunch of animals there, like did they test stuff on monkeys?” he asks, half leaning on the table but trying to feign a lack of curiosity.
“God no, that would be a terrible idea,” you loudly denounce.
“What? It makes sense! Primates are closest to us, genetically and all that.”
“Okay okay, but you’ve gotta think about that. Think. Imagine having to deal with a fucking alpha level monkey. I’m talking a monkey with off-the-shits powers. Something really useful or fucked up. Now imagine being some low-level delta boost or a baby mod security guard getting sent off with a whole bunch of equally lame squads to catch it. You’re so fucked if it’s a monkey—no one’s gonna risk a boosted monkey in a secret facility in the desert.”
We’re talking capable of opening doors and using tools, climbing ability for days, unchecked and uninhibited neurological aggression impulses, the animal desire to beat the shit out of other apes… and boosted to all hell? Dead! You’re dead! Blam, blam, blam—whole squad’s dead. R-I-P Ortega.”
“Okay, okay…” Ricardo murmurs, brown furrowed in deep thought, “but who do you think would win between the alpha monkey and the Catastrofiend?”
“Depends on the boost.”
“You had that answer ready waaay too fast,” he laughs.
“Oh I’ve thought about this,” you respond just as quickly.
“Like, actively?”
“I have had a very sad, drawn out life filled with a lot of alone time and isolation: yeah, I’ve thought about this.”
“I can’t think of something specific—just generally. Who would win?”
“My money’s on the monkey.”
“Against the Catastrofiend.”
“Yep.”
“The creature that will not die.”
“Yeah.”
“That gets modded for fun and eats boost drugs for breakfast.”
“Uh huh.”
“What kind of fucking powers does this monkey have?!”
“I don’t know: alpha-level ones. Maybe the monkey is going full Cavalier, it’s not our business. That’s the monkey’s personal information.”
“Okay, well can we name the monkey? This feels impersonal—it feels rude to talk about the monkey without a name. Is the monkey male or female?”
“I don’t know, so we should use they/them pronouns until we’re given any indication. Doesn’t fee right gendering the monkey but it feels worse calling them ‘it.’”
“Gender-neutral monkey, got it. What’s their name?”
“I like… Nikola.”
“Like the basketball players?”
“No, like the scientist. Come on, that was low hanging fruit.”
“It just felt too obvious.”
“I’m simple.”
Ricardo lets out a deep, loud laugh at that. “You are… anything but that, Kay.”
“Anyway, there’s that. Now what?”
“Now Nikola needs a moniker, some kind of hero name. Wait, are they a hero or a villain? Either way I call dibs on naming them.”
“Who could truly surmise the morality of a primate with nothing to lose and unlimited options?” You sigh, coming to a decision, “Let’s go with vigilante: we’ve gotta build up the tension between them and the ‘Fiend but we don’t want to set limits.”
“Done. So. Indeterminable powers, massive ability range, absolute determination to go ape-shit,” you groan-laugh at his pun, “—and a total lack of care for legalities.”
“Sums it up.”
Ricardo sets his chin on his hand, tapping away at the table while he thinks for the next few minutes.
“Apesolute,” he concludes.
“What?”
“Apesolute, like absolute but a pun.”
“Yeah, I got that. Why?”
“Because we’re considering all the facts and this guy—neutral—is the ape to end all apes. This monkey is unfuckwithable! The sheer presence of this little dude would be like coming across an apex predator in the wild. Absolute power begetting absolute opportunity.”
“You know what, I kind of dig it. But the next question is: Do they get weapons?”

WIP - omnombers
Current Muses
Currently this is just copy-pasted from the very early days of my blog and is in the process of being edited.
So I have a mis-matched tangle of characters here that I write stories for because I can’t draw worth beans.
I always welcome asks, whether from a prompt or just your own curiosity.
Rikard - Neutral Good 5′10″ human, protective (and comfort) pred, trying to get by in a (monster) world where people judge him for not wanting to ‘get back at’ the various nonhuman creatures… in any small way possible. Voluntarily cursed by an enchantress to have a technically malfunctioning digestive system that a tiny could survive in. Has since moved to Eldevar and is the focus of study in a beyond-top-secret facility.
Voresonality Type: SEPN-P ‘The Nurturer’ - How's that? feeling comfortable? You just let me know when you want out.
Picrew: 1, 2, 3, 4
As-yet unnamed Borrower clan - borrower tinies, willing prey, friends of Rikard, varying opinions on nomming.
Jack - Neutral Good, Dave’s husband, not thrilled to be a nom but doesn’t hate it
Picrew: 1
Dave - Lawful Good, Jack’s husband, Karla’s uncle, big ol’ NOPE to being nommed, tastes of sun-warmed wood with hints of sticky-sweet sap
Picrew: 1
Karla - Chaotic Neutral, 5.1″, Dave’s niece, unbelievably bossy prey, secretly vore trash, Jack and Dave’s niece, tastes like rows of decaying books in an old library
She is currently enrolled in Life Studies at Maven Academy in the mountain city of Eldevar, under hefty probation.
Voresonality Type: SEPN-W ‘The Servant’ - I can't wait to be inside you, or to be a part of you...
Picrew: 1, 2
Sam - Chaotic Good, Rachel’s husband, prefers to be eaten last so he can eagerly observe but also likes the adrenaline rush
Picrew: 1
Rachel - Chaotic Good, Sam’s wife, enjoys relaxing noms
Picrew: 1
Nikolas - Lawful Neutral, classmate of Karla’s, curious of noms but is cripplingly claustrophobic and didn’t enjoy the one nom
Voresonality Type: IVAN-U ‘The Challenger’ - I'm not going down without a fight!
Glissenda - Chaotic Good, an unspecified entity claiming the title of “Glissenda an Enchantress” that gifted Rikard with his knack, true nature and name are unknown
Bryce - Neutral Evil, lived in Kirk’s Wood and propelled Rikard into being a predator for all the wrong reasons
Voresonality Type: IVAN-P ‘The Apex Predator’ - You're all mine now, little snack!
Picrew: 1
——————————————————————————————
Simael - naga on the scale of giants, vanilla bun cinnamon bean, doesn’t quite get the “humans are persons” concept but treats his preyfamiliar nicely.
Voresonality Type: SEAN-P ‘The Keeper’ - The way to my heart is through my stomach!
Picrew: 1, 2, 3
Note: Simael stories are in the second-person form from the familiar’s perspective, and the unnamed prey (referred to as “Twoey” for convenience) is a character in their own right.
Voresonality Type: SVAN-U ‘The Feeder’ - H-ha, here's another prey! Just don't eat me, alright? Haha...
Picrew: 1

Do a tier list on the Apex pets (things like Hack, DOC, the Legends’ pet prowler, etc.)
okay so i know you said a tierlist but in my heart all of the pets are in the highest tier 🥺
so ig i'll just give my thoughts on all of em:
Hack (Crypto's drone): AHHHH i luv hack he is so cute and amazing and helpful!!!
DOC (Lifeline's drone): i LUV doc so much,,, doc is awesome and such a great companion- i trust him with my life
Newt (Horizon's drone[?]): mini blackhole my beloved <3. also the fact that he's named after her son is just so 🥺
Artur (Bloodhound's raven): okay ngl artur is probably the coolest out of all the pets. also the timeline doesn't check out but i like to think that human artur got reincarnated into raven artur
Nikola (Wattson's cat): we need to see more content of nikola!!
Echo (Vantage's bat): he's jsut a guy! a little skrunkly doo!
Unnamed Rat (Ash's rat): okay so ash's rat is probably the smartest out of all of the pets. my only basis for this is that i have a hc that ash is a great teacher/mentor and probably taught that rat how to do advanced tricks (like scouting out for enemies). hell, i wouldn't doubt it if she taught her rat how to squeak in morse code or something 😭
Navi (Octane's Rabbit): I was told that Navi was named after christmas and that's so cute tbh <3 (poor thing had to be exposed to octane's dangerous stunts tho djsjdsjd)

YEAR OF THE FANGAN - MARCH EDITION
ꕥ DREADNOUGHT DESPAIR ꕥ
The TV Tropes Fanworks page officially strikes again! Because I lean towards fics advertised on there with character pages (as usually that indicates the characters aren't solely there to be picked off), Dreadnought Despair's been on my radar for a while. And, unsurprisingly, it exceeded expectation.
Now, in terms of the cast, I love these guys. Due to the "cozy" way of telling the story (aka focusing moreso on building relationships amongst the cast than an overarching plot about the killing game Hope's Chains style), there's space in the narrative to explore different character dynamics. Because of that, the class bounces off one another super well, and allows my faves more time to show off their fun personalities without having to keep up with a fast-paced story.
However, despite the strong cast and chill vibes, my favorite part of this fangan is easily how it presents itself.
I think the best place to start off with is the visuals, because the blog for this story looks damn gorgeous. Each character is given really nice character portraits that can even indicate in-the-moment actions the characters are taking (for example, Ishi being held back from doing something by Vash), the textboxes are colour-coded to each character, and there's even gifs for small things like maps during FTEs.
But my admiration for the presentation doesn't end with the visuals alone. The fic takes on a Last Resort / Apex Academy style of navigating (something that makes FTEs a lot funner imo), mixed media like videos and audio clips are sprinkled through the story, and foreign lines from characters like Gugalanna and Seigfried have pop-up translations if you hover over them. Hell, apparently there was a viewer poll for a decision made in the story at one point!
All of this culminates in what's easily my favorite part of this fangan: the trial segment. Now, I've played through my fair share of fun interactive trials in my hayday (aka Eden's Garden and Apex Academy, and that's literally it so far), but this has got to be the most impressive one imo. Alongside incorporating several of the things mentioned above, it also has somewhat-branching routes, fun pieces of dialogue when you get something wrong, and full-on minigames!?!?!? Seriously, the author deserves an actual prize for that Anagram Argument / Panic Talk Action segment (even if I wished the latter didn't kick my dumb ass back to the start of it when I got a choice wrong, rip 😭)
Seriously, go read it and experience everything first-hand! I promise you won't regret it!
FORMAT: Written
WHERE TO FIND IT: The hellsite itself, Tumblr
FAVORITE MOMENT: The library meeting, where most of the class discusses their motive. A lot of small pieces of insight are given about the secondary characters, it allows for more fun dynamics to blossom, and one character gets a pretty interesting reveal.
FAVORITE CHARACTER: Jurou Takahashi, a guy with a shitty mall goth aesthetic who's actually a good ol' country boy who makes flower arrangements as his talent. An absolute sweetheart just doing his best, and I adore him for it 💖
OTHER STANDOUT CHARACTERS: Tiffani Fairfax, the cranky, sarcastic technical support specialist whose cynical take on things is a blast to read, and Nikola Ragnvaldsson, a TV pitchman who does his best to mask his panicky nature with a smile, something he's really, really bad at doing.

Apex Legends: The Board Game Now Live on Kickstarter
Tumblr media
Experts in Video Game to Board Game Conversions—Glass Cannon Unplugged and Genuine Entertainment—Launch Kickstarter Campaign for Cutting-Edge Tabletop Hero Shooter
Glass Cannon Unplugged and Genuine Entertainment are proud to announce the launch of the Kickstarter campaign for the official tabletop game series for Apex Legends™, based on a licensing partnership with Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) and Respawn Entertainment.
Tumblr media
Apex Legends: The Board Game, designed by Thanos Argyris and Michalis Nikolaou and developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged’s Rafal Pieczyński and Grzegorz Przytarski, is a highly competitive, intensely tactical team vs team miniatures game in which 2-4 players, divided into two teams, face each other in a battle royale style challenge played out within a 3D tabletop environment. Separate expansions will add support for up to six players and for solo gameplay. Each player takes on the role of a unique Legend, with four Legends included in the core game and many more to become available through add-ons and expansions via Kickstarter and future retail releases.
Tumblr media
The original game engine and innovative framework, from the minds behind games such as Frostpunk: The Board Game and Endless Winter: Paleoamericans, both award-winning titles, authentically capture the voice and imagination of Apex Legends™, bringing the stakes, thrills, and unforgettable kills of the hero shooter experience to life. Related Post: Star Citizen Alpha 3.19: Call to Adventure Update Out Now  Having spent over two years developing an inspired new way to recreate the hero shooter experience at the game table, Glass Cannon Unplugged intends to deliver something for everyone: an accessible, easy-to-learn experience for new board gamers, balanced with a depth and scale aimed at satisfying core players. This is achieved through a modular construction of the game rules, with the core box itself containing three different gameplay modes: Training, Deathmatch, and Battle Royale. Thanks to planned expansions, the game will contain play modes dedicated to solo play, co-op, and organized (tournament) play—all being developed with world-class experts. The solo mode is created by David Turczi, the industry’s virtuoso at crafting automated and solo experiences for over 100 board games, while the tournament mode is prepared in close cooperation with Michał Duda, a Warhammer 40.000™ competitive champion with multiple titles to his name and a history of organizing tournaments and events for competitive games.
Tumblr media
The product line for the campaign currently comprises: the Core Box (c. €80/USD $88)—providing a highly modular core experience designed to bring a set of diverse board layouts and game modes focused around the classic Kings Canyon map, with an initial roster of four Legends: Bangalore, Bloodhound, Gibraltar, and Wraith; the Full Team Expansion (c. 35/USD$39)—introducing the option to add a 5th and 6th player and compete using three 2-player teams, along with new board setups, game modes and the canyon terrain type (with a corresponding zip line mechanic) and two new Legends: Lifeline and Pathfinder; Squad Packs I and II (c. €30/USD$33 each)—the first adding Caustic, Mirage, and Octane, and the second Crypto, Revenant, and Wattson, with all the components required to use them in the game, such as cards, dioramas, and miniatures; the Supply Miniatures Expansion (c. €25/USD$28) adding miniatures for Supply Bins, Supply Drops, and Respawn Beacons; the Card Sleeves Pack (c. €15/USD$17)—providing dedicated sleeves for all cards used in the core game and the expansions; and the Painting Set (around €25/USD$28), a hobby paints set designed by The Army Painter, with accompanying tutorials for newcomers to the hobby. Also planned are two collector's expansions by acclaimed visual artists, due to be revealed in the course of the campaign.
Tumblr media
Once the campaign is launched, backers at the Core Pledge level and above will gain access to the Loba Expansion, which is a free, limited Legend Pack introducing the loot scout Loba into the game as a fully-playable Legend, and including a Kickstarter exclusive sculpt for the character.

darksparks and wattson, wraith headcanons but i stopped giving a fuck abt apex lore a while ago + i treat them like my ocs
- Wattson helps Ash with repearing her just like she does with Pathy, they chat [well she tries to start a convo and Ash sometimes gets into it] about tech and stuff like that
- Wraith goes on walks with Bloodhound, surprisingly they get along well, sometimes they both teach eachother about hunting [BH] and combat awarness
-WATTSON SINGS!!!!! AND SHE DOES IT GOOD??!? She always hums and sings along while working or focusing, overall she really likes music, especially classical and the soft indiepop :)
- Wraith doesnt sing but god can she play the electric guitar, she started doing it after Mirage told her to get a hobby besides being too paranoid, she quickly realized shes kinda into it, plus now she can spend more time with Wattson while the two of them are jamming together
- Wraith vapes and Wattson ocasionally smokes weed, no im not elaborating
- Wattson is 178cm [5.8/9] and Wraith is 169cm [5.6/7]
- Natalie is really busy most of the time, getting around with working for the games with the tech, the weapons and hop ups takes a lot from her free time, when shes busy Wraith does the work around Watts apartament like cleaning or feeding Nikola but she never tells her that, since Wattson comes home really tired she doesnt notice it
- Wraith in her free time besides helping her gf is a greasy gamer, she plays fps and moba games, she yells at people on the vc to let off her steam, once she almost yelled that shes the star of the apex games and that the guy doesnt know who hes talking to [She would prob play Valorant; her main would be Jett/Reyna and League where she would main Akali, Katarina or just any assasin for mid]
- When they sleep together they mostly spoon facing eachother, but when not Wattson is the big spoon, she helps Wraith with falling asleep since she has problems coming from her voices and a lot of nightmares. Also Nikola really likes coming to them for the cuddles.
- Speaking of Nikola he really is fond of Wraith, like almost more than Wattson, he never leaves her alone and always tries to cuddle up to her
- They both use petnames for eachother, Wattson mostly calls her her dear, cherié and baby while Wraith uses babe and love, tho wraith mostly does that in private

TESLA DESCRIBES AN INTERESTING FEATURE OF THE X-RAY RADIATIONS
The Electrical Review, July 8th, 1896.
To the Editor of Electrical Review:
The following observations, made with bulbs emitting Roentgen radiations, may be of value in throwing additional light upon the nature of these radiations, as well as illustrating better properties already known. In the main these observations agree with the views which have forced themselves upon my mind from the outset, namely, that the rays consist of streams of minute material particles projected with great velocity. In numerous experiments I have found that the matter which, by impact within the bulb, causes the formation of the rays may come from either of the electrodes. Inasmuch as the latter are by continued use disintegrated to a marked degree, it seems more plausible to assume that the projected matter consists of parts of the electrodes themselves rather than of the residual gas. However, other observations, upon which I can not dwell at present, lead to this conclusion. The lumps of projected matter are by impact further disintegrated into particles so minute as to be able to pass through the walls of the bulb, or else they tear off such particles from the walls, or generally bodies, against which they are projected. At any rate, an impact and consequent shattering seems absolutely necessary for the production of Roentgen rays. The vibration, if there be any, is only that which is impressed by the apparatus, and the vibrations can only be longitudinal.
The principal source of the rays is invariably the place of first impact within the bulb, whether it be the anode, as in some forms of tube, or an enclosed insulated body, or the glass wall. When the matter thrown off from an electrode, after striking against an obstacle, is thrown against another body, as the wall of the bulb, for instance, the place of second impact is a very feeble source of the rays.
Tumblr media
These and other facts will be better appreciated by referring to the annexed figure, in which a form of tube is shown used in a number of my experiments. The general form is that described on previous occasions. A single electrode e, consisting of a massive aluminium plate, is mounted on a conductor c, provided with a glass wrapping w as usual, and sealed in one of the ends of a straight tube b, about five centimetres in diameter and 30 centimetres long. The other end of the tube is blown out into a thin bulb of a slightly larger diameter, and near this end is supported on a glass stem s a funnel f of thin platinum sheet. In such bulbs I have used a number of different metals for impact with a view of increasing the intensity of the rays and also for the purpose of reflecting and concentrating them. Since, however, in a later contribution, Professor Roentgen has pointed out that platinum gives the most intense rays, I have used chiefly this metal, finding a marked increase in the effect upon the screen or sensitive plate. The particular object of the presently described construction was to ascertain whether the rays generated at the inner surface of the platinum funnel f would be brought to a focus outside of the bulb, and further, whether they would proceed in straight lines from that point. For this purpose the apex of the platinum cone was arranged to be about two centimetres outside of the bulb at o.
When the bulb was properly exhausted and set in action, the glass wall below the funnel f became strongly phosphorescent, but not uniformly, as there was a narrow ring r r on the periphery brighter than the rest, this ring being evidently due to the rays reflected from the platinum sheet.
Placing a fluorescent screen in contact or quite close to the glass wall below the funnel, the portion of the screen in the immediate neighborhood of the phosphorescent patch was brightly illuminated, the outlines being entirely indistinct. Receding now with the screen from the bulb, the strongly illuminated spot became smaller and the outlines sharper, until, when the point o was reached, the luminous part had dwindled down to a small point. Moving the screen a few millimetres beyond o caused a small dark spot to appear, which widened into a circle and became larger and larger in the same measure as the distance from the bulb was increased (see S), until, at a sufficiently large distance, the dark circle covered the entire screen. This experiment illustrated in a beautiful way the propagation in straight lines, which Roentgen originally proved by pinhole photographs. But, besides this, an important point was noted; namely, that the fluorescent glass wall emitted practically no rays, whereas, had the platinum not been present, it would have been, under similar conditions, an efficient source of the rays, for the glass, even by weak excitation of the bulb, was strongly heated. I can only explain the absence of the radiation from the glass by assuming that the matter proceeding from the surface of the platinum sheet was already in a finely divided state when it reached the glass wall. A remarkable fact is, also, that, at least by a weak excitation of the bulb, the edges of the dark circle were very sharp, which speaks strongly against diffusion. By exciting the bulb very strongly, the background became brighter and the shadow S fainter, though it continued to be plainly visible even then.
From the preceding it is evident that, by a suitable construction of the bulb, the rays emanating from the latter may be concentrated upon any small area at some distance, and a practical advantage may be taken of this fact when producing impressions upon a plate or examining bodies by means of a fluorescent screen.
