Dezember 8, 2021: Hinter den Kulissen einer Videoproduktion

Letztes Jahr haben wir mit Pro Ganze ein erstes Video erstellt für unsere Spenderinnen und Spender. Wir sind uns bewusst, dass gerade vor Weihnachten so viele Bettelbriefe kommen und man übersättigt ist. Daher wählten wir dieses Format und wir haben sehr viele positive Rückmeldungen erhalten. Unser Ziel war es dieses Jahr, wieder alle Vorstandsmitglieder zu Wort kommen zu lassen und aus erster Hand zu berichten, wie unsere Projekte gelaufen sind.

Ich lasse euch hier ein bisschen hinter die Kulissen schauen. In der Zwischenzeit haben wir alle funktionierende Geräte und doch hatten wir alle so unsere Herausforderungen: bei Olivia ist es immer der Laptop ihres Mannes und er möchte, dass sie die Features wie Hintergrund und Audiosystem nutzt – allerdings hat er dann meistens noch den Kopfhörer eingesteckt, was bewirkt, dass Olivia uns nicht von Anfang an hört. Bei Onkel Peter war dieses Mal das Problem, dass Zoom gerade ein Update fahren wollte und er deshalb aus der Session geflogen ist. Bei mir kam ich an die Grenzen meines Laptops, da die Speicherkapazität langsam aber sicher am Ende ist und ich wie üblich x verschiedene Applikationen offen hatte. Also hatte ich dauernd Audiounterbrüche und die anderen konnten keinen Ton hören. Obwohl ich die Idee, dass Peter aus Kenia auch teilnehmen könnte sehr kurzfristig gehabt habe lief es bei ihm eigentlich am besten. Ich bin aber auch sicher, dass er das nicht selbst installiert hat – aber egal: delegieren will auch gelernt sein. Nur die Geräusche im Hintergrund haben mich etwas irritiert bis ich draufkam, was es ist: Peter hasst ja Mücken und so hat er ein Mückenkillgerät aufgestellt, das aber jedes Mal einen so lauten Krach machte, das ich dachte, es würde gleich einen Kurzschluss geben.

Als ich das Dankesvideo geschnitten habe wurde mir wieder bewusst, auf was ich mich da eingeladen hatte. Ich bin kein Profi darin und arbeite mit ganz einfachen Tools und die Zeit die ich für den Schnitt aufgewendet habe war für mich auch an der oberen Limite, denn „schnell etwas schneiden“ das gibt es tatsächlich nicht in dieser Welt! Schweren Herzens musste ich auch Dinge rausschneiden, die ich noch witzig fand oder die ich auch gerne gezeigt hätte. Aber 8 Minuten waren ja wirklich schon die alleroberste Limite, wenn man bedenkt, dass die Aufmerksamkeitsspanne von den meisten Zuschauer:innen nicht besonders lang ist.

Nachdem wir das Dankesvideo verteilt hatten habe ich mich also nochmals hingesetzt und ein „making of“ gemacht. Vielleicht habe ich dabei selber am meisten gelacht – ich sass auf jeden Fall vor dem Bildschirm und habe manchmal vor lauter Lachen den Schnitt verpasst. Aber ich werde euch diesen Leckerbissen nicht vorenthalten. Es ist eine gute Gelegenheit euch zu zeigen, dass es für jegliche Produktion im Hintergrund sehr sehr viel Arbeit und Kreativität braucht. Auch um ein NGO attraktiv zu halten und immer wieder Spenderinnen und Spender zu akquirieren sind Ideen und Abwechslung gefragt. Und wie Olivia es gesagt hat: dass wir aus Marere ein Zoom Meeting machen können, davon hätten wir vor einem guten Jahr nicht zu träumen gewagt.

Insofern sind nicht nur unsere Spendenträume wahr geworden sondern auch unsere verbesserte Kommunikation und wenn wir so reflektieren merken wir immer wieder, was wir das ganze Jahr geleistet haben. A/N: I mixed quite a few common Kenyan Sheng/Slang words and Swahili here since Wakandan is a fictional language that I don’t speak. ALSO HELLO HI HOW ARE YOU (this is one of the first requests I didn’t totally go overboard on)

When you woke up with a sneezing fit, T’Challa knew he wasn’t leaving his chambers today.

“Tee,” you pleaded between sneezes, “Nisaidie, tafadhali!” [Help me, please]

“Hold on, msupa [beautiful girl],” he dashed to the bathroom fetching several boxes of tissues, cough drops, cold meds, and anything else he anticipated you might need.

“Tee!” Your sneezing hardly stopped since you woke; it was going to be one of those colds. Oh, Bast.

“I’m coming!” He rushed back with an arm full of weapons to fight your dastardly cold. You couldn’t help but giggle at the sight.

After handing you a box (which you gladly thanked him for), he went around his grand chambers placing the other boxes and packages of cough drops strategically in places you were known to lounge. The loveseat across from his astoundingly large television screen, (he saw Tony’s once and spent the following month working with his techs to make an even bigger one), the reading nook in the far corner, the bench in your massive closet (it was decided that you should both have your own, he was quite fond of spoiling you), and an extra one by the bed. You were covered. Your sneezing finally subsided and you sank back into the pillows in relief. Thank Sekhmet.

“I bet you’re suddenly thankful your powers mean you don’t get sick, aren’t you?” you grumped. His soft laughter echoed the room as he made his way back to the bed, cold medicine in hand.

“There are many benefits that come with my gifts from the gods; that indeed, is one of them.”

“Sucks to be just a puny human,” you sassed back. He laughed again. T’Challa carefully measured out cold medicine in the tiny cup before handing it to you to drink. You blanched at the horrid taste; the things we must endure just to get well.

“I guess you are lucky to be my favorite human.”

“You sap.” A wave of drowsiness overtook you. Damn, that was fast! What the heck was in that stuff? You settled back into the comfy mattress. Kissing your warm forehead, T’Challa tucked you in, snugly.

“Ninakupenda, msupa.” [I love you, beautiful girl].

 T’Challa hoped that while the medicine knocked you he’d be able to leave and get a few things done while you rested. Unfortunately, your subconscious had other ideas.

The moment he sat on the bed next to your sleeping form, your arms snaked out and you pulled yourself into his warm body. He chuckled softly and decided he’d be working from his bed today. After shooting a text to one of his assistants, letting her know the status of the situation, he grabbed a remote and lowered the lights so you could sleep easier. You shifted even closer and snored softly; even suffering in sickness, you were still the most elegant creature he’d ever laid eyes on.  You let a content noise as your breathing deepened; sickness was always infinitely more bearable with your kitty king at your side.
