No Nobel Prize in Literature this Year Due to Sex Allegations:  The Swedish Academy has announced it will postpone the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature in the wake of a scandal over sexual assault allegations.  So if I’m understanding this correctly, these guys were basically turning the Noble Prize in Literature into a Nobel “Piece” Prize.

Trump Angers Britain and France Over Gun Law Remarks:  During a speech to the National Rifle Association convention in Dallas, President Trump managed to angry both Britain and France when he attacked their gun laws - claiming “knives, knives, knives” have turned the UK into a war zone.  “Knives, knives, knives," says the man who slashed the shower curtains in the Bates Motel.

Amazon Founder Bought Washington Post With Cash:  Its being reported that when Amazon founder Jeffrey  P. Bozos bought the Washington Post, he paid $250 million in cash.  Wow, $250 million in cash?  Isn’t it kind of risky to carry that much cash around?  Why I wouldn’t be caught dead with that much cash on me.  Apparently they just wouldn’t take a check.

Nowhere do you find so many not-so-great authors stilted with the knowledge of 500 advice books on writing giving advice with the confidence of a nobel-proze winning novelists as you do on r/writing

So this episode had some ups and downs for sure, but something that personally resonated (which is probably 100% related to my own life experiences/“issues”, ha) is this idea of how circumstances can derail a person’s dreams or path.

Just in this episode:

Michael: he was a “good kid” - super smart, wanted to be an agricultural engineer, have kids. Then Jesse Manes happened and Noah happened. “Now I’m this.”

Liz: “This doesn’t happen to girls like me,” with her scientific publication and her Nobel Proze dreams. And the derailment of those by defunding and political circumstances. Getting talked down to by the ICE guy for being a waitress.

Rosa: she goes to her first NA meeting, trying to get clean, and discovers she’s the product of her mom’s affair.

Definitely a thread running through this episode. And the optimist in me hopes they can still work toward those early dreams, in their own ways.

11/7/2019. Today I got to meet my academic grandpa. Nobel Proze winner 2017, Kip S. Thorne. He gave a speech about gravitational waves and black holes to a whole room of people and hundreds sat in the hallway. It was a very accessible talk. Joshua behaved very well. He got to meet Sandor as well.

A logical fallacy is a reasoning mistake.

Examples of Ad hominem in action. An argument about warning signs, attacking speaker before they’ve even had a chance to respond., Bill Nye vs Ken Ham.

There are different types of Ad hominem. Ad Feminam. Such as woman can't talk football because woman don't know football. Abusive Ad Hominem. You also ad hominem. 

Josh Nash couldn't be Nobel Proze worthy because he was Schizophrenia- see the movie The Beautiful Mind.

27 club- great musicians die at 27. Amy Winehouse music sucks because she's in the 27 club, same as Jimmy Hendrix music is great because he's in 27 club.

Al Gore spoke out against climate change but his big house was energy inefficient. So/So is of the other political party so they are wrong.

Lawyers- defendants lawyer- being paid to give a one sided argument Is this logically invalid? What is you said they were wrong/bad because they are paid to give one side of the argument?

ad hominem means to the man. It does not mean valid or invalid. Often it is an invalid/sleazy/sneaky.

American legal system is based on hiring a person to argue one side.
