So thoughts on this. Wally is the main character, you would think that he would talk the most out of everyone perhaps he really is a surrogate for the audience In which, i'd loooove to explore that concept of the Reason that Wally is trying so desperately to reach us Is that he IS us He is so used to We , as the collective audience looking through his eyes into the world being "puppeteered" by "Us" that he simply doesnt know how to exist outside of that He's used to not talking, not having to do much at all Which is why he doesn't know much of anything!

Having to learn about his existence and who he is outside of what has been controlling him the entire time.. when he is literally a blank canvas… everyone else has a personality and interests and ways of behaving and Wally … is just Wally.. These must be frustrating and lonely feelings for Wally Which is why he wants Us back.. He wants to be back "inside of Us" "Let me IN" as he says it would maybe be easier to just ignore those feelings and allow yourself to be controlled again Or perhaps this time, Wally will be the Puppeteer?

so I think I've joked before on this blog about how a potential ATDAO sequel is just "jacob greer goes to therapy".......... there's enough content there for at least a whole 'nother book imo

but anyway anyway yes hmmmm, a good question, ok, alright

short answer....... none for 90% of his life so far, then a lot of it

long answer,

well, he was never in any therapy as a kid because his 'rents didn't really ""believe in"" it......... n like, there was a lot of pressure on jacob growing up to keep up this image of the perfect golden child, n samuel and shauna saw him more as a prized object to be paraded around to make them look good rather than a human person..... so this meant no straying outside the norm, n if you had any negative feelings or resentment or anxiety u better repress that shit RIGHT away

so the rhetoric surrounding mental illness for jacob was very much..... any symptoms you experience will be fixed if you just try harder! and the fact that his parents saw him succeeding at everything that was important to *them* and were like??? you can't possibly be unhappy?? what do you mean?? you're doing fantastic in life??

and unfortunately he internalised all that so he kinda just........ Dealt With Stuff on his own for most of his life because he just always assumed his experiences were Perfectly Normal and he didn't have it "bad enough" to warrant therapy

n like. jacob has absolutely no issue with other people getting therapy. he just thinks, oh, but that's DIFFERENT, they actually NEED it, their problems are real not like mine

as a side note samuel and shauna greer's only motivation for allowing tris and becca into therapy was because they were Difficult and Not Like Jacob, it was not done with the intent of being supportive or out of concern for their wellbeing, it was basically just "we are at our wits end trying to make you normal so maybe this will"

n even then tris only landed in therapy initially cuz he got himself hospitalised and they were like "ma'am psychosis is not caused by the devil your son needs to see a psychiatrist"

anyway. jacob!

so....... he thankfully gets a lot of therapy after the climax of the story is over and done with!! to begin with, it's mostly to try and handle the aftermath of the unreality and all its associated trauma. poor sweet boy's been through a LOT. like, yeah, of course the unreality was fucked up for tris too but jacob spent weeks there terrified and alone and convinced he was dead and in hell the whole time...... lots of fun! yeehaw

n even SANS all the unreality stuff that ensued, dude almost got crushed to death in a car accident which is. hm. a lot

he basically gets out of hospital post-unreality, goes home, and is like. ok. here we are. time to get back to regular life. huh. why is my vision clouding over. why am I hyperventilating. why does my chest feel like it's going to explode. I think I'm having a heart attack

various people around him are like "yeah fam that's a panic attack also you went through something super fucked up and traumatic you should probably do some therapy about it" and he's like "nah"

he has to get over this mental hurdle of how like..... him going to therapy wouldn't be "cheating" (whatever that means) and how you don't have to have a capital M capital I Mental Illness to go to therapy (although he has several)

n after some gentle coaxing from tris and some "dude I love you but you're a dumbass" he agrees to it

and it's great help for coping with post-unreality life! it also opens up the floodgates to 25+ years' worth of trauma that he didn't realise was trauma

so ya, it starts off as mostly centred around his experiences in the unreality and around [redacted other story content I can't reveal due to spoilers], but also opens the door to him finally starting to work through...... a looooot of other stuff

complicated feelings towards his shitty parents, self-worth issues, identity issues, obsessive perfectionism, the ever-present panic that people will abandon him the instant he's not useful, his tendency to land in awful relationships because he's incapable of setting boundaries and can't recognise red flags, the years of stress from trying to protect his siblings from the same treatment his parents gave him, and the usual Growing Up In A Literal Reality-Unraveling Apocalypse

I feel like that's kind of an oof note to end on but, like, he's...... absolutely heading in the right direction? he has a lot to untangle and a lot of work to do and it’s probably not something that’ll ever have a definite End Point, but as with all (story) endings in ATDAO it's kind of just like....... yeah, he's gonna be alright, he's got this

y'know

he does make it to a place in life where he gets some consistent peace and happiness and is surrounded by good people who love him very much

so to answer your question, lots of therapy, finally, at long last, thank god

sometimes i think about what a hot mess the 2015 top prospects were and i grieve the fact that there's no cliche-drenched fic with tk thirsting after/trying to flirt with provy over the course of events leading up to the draft. like, an unrealistic amount of low-key hotel room parties, painful obliviousness, lawson crouse (good heartedly) making all of tk's bad ideas worse -- the whole nine yards. the night before the draft, after too much mutual pining, tk and provy hook up because like, 1/2

you miss all the shots you don’t take, and tomorrow’s the draft, so if things get weird, it’s not like they’ll ever really see each other again (ahahaha plot twist). as a nice lil epilogue, they both admit feelings and officially get together on a roadie during their rookie season (they end up cuddling while watching rocky and then make out a whole bunch after and it’s great) 2/2 i’m sorry this is wordy i’ve just been fuckin ruminating on this i guess

Anon. I never even CONSIDERED that they were the same draft class, holy shit? All of them going through that pre-draft stuff, the tours and games and media and TK just pining but Ivan is kind of oblivious and tied up in all of the goings on (nevermind that there’s no way that a guy as cute as Travis would be into him, Ivan has to be imagining things right?) 

But a hookup is a hookup and neither of them are willing to turn down what they think is their one chance…

Then they both get drafted to the Flyers and make the team a year later, so ofc they wind up rooming together which just. Naturally pushes them together because they’re both rookies AND the new guys, so they wind up leaning on each other and finally just. Admitting to how they feel? Travis felt so dumb pining after this stoic, quiet kinda guy who got drafted higher than him while Ivan is sure that Travis only wanted a hookup because he seems a bit like a player when really Travis has been masking his pining with random dates here and there but none of those people are Ivan and it never felt fair to them.

What do you prefer?: first, second or third gen kpop songs?

I generally prefer second generation??? I think????? I like a bit of all of them tho. but like there is no definitive answer to when each of the generations start and end so like I don't even know??? but most of my fav groups as far as music goes are older around 2nd gen but a fair amount of them are gen 3, I have a really strong love for kpop that was released between 2009-2014.

Tell me a fun childhood story (I’ll start! One time an aunt gave me money to buy ‘papas’ (potatoes) at the grocery store so bc I’m obedient af I went and asked the counter lady how many of em could I buy with the money I had so she went ‘uhh, not many tbh’ so i ended up getting like two and when I returned to my aunt’s house she laughed her ass off and said: I meant ‘papas fritas’ (potato chips) Not those! - and uh yeah this is funnier in Spanish but it proves that I’m such an innocent angel I mean wow)

ok so I spent a lot of time at my aunt Lori’s house when I was a kid (like summers, and after school) and my cousin was the BUG queen so she hand made leashes for her pet toads (that she caught) and we walked them around on leashes for like a week but I was always so afraid of them and also hurting them so I WAS NOT ABOUT THAT ahahaha dumb story but it makes me laugh alsoalsoalsdo they had this bench swing in their back yard and my cousin my sister and I would swing on it together for hours at a time and one time we were swinging real hard (REAL HARD) and the links?? or whatever that held it to the ceiling it was hanging from snapped and the three of us of us flew off of it and we all collectively blacked out??? it was so weird but I woke up to my cousin stuggling to get me off of her and then there lays my sister underneath the bench just blacked out chilling (she was fine) then my aunt came running out cause she had just heard the loudest crash ahsdfasdf not long after my uncle put stronger links on it and that bench is still there! From time to time when the three of us get together this story gets brought up its still the most hilarious thing ( ALSO CLOUD YOU ARE SO PURE I LOVE)

I really want to like this show for what it is. Really, I do. 

We had the moral drama of the Tardigrade, but how am I supposed to like Saru when he literally throws his morals completely out the window??? “I was just following orders” is never a reason to harm another being and really, the show brushed over the whole ethical issue completely by just having the characters make individual choices to serve the plot, rather than actually discuss the issue like they would in any other Star Trek series

and Lorca’s entire backstory just makes him even more shady and immoral ffs

and I am just really really not on board with how the characters do complete 180s for the sake of the plot and drama - Saru doesn’t trust Michael, but then he does, flip. flop. flip. flop.

and oh boy am I really, really, really not on board for ‘characters explain their motivations and feelings in a paragraph of exposition’ with 0 emotion behind any of it. it makes it feel so contrived.

I still just don’t feel like I care about any of the characters at all, none of them feel the smallest bit real, there’s something so unnatural and unrealistic about their dialogue and their actions. I think the only reason I found the episode slightly more bearable than others is because they finally had enough plot to keep things moving along without me getting bored.

also, the weirdest part is how small the show feels. the Discovery feels empty, the starbase scene we didn’t know or care about any of the other Admirals, even the Klingon prison ship didn’t feel like it had anything other than that one cell (and corridor, and torture chamber) - they’re so tightly focused on the few characters we know that it just feels like everyone else is cardboard cutouts in the background. it doesn’t FEEL like there’s a war going on. all this money on set design and special effects and whatever and the show somehow feels tiny?

Umm. Once we were cooking and had leftover eggs and I think we put like. 6 eggs into an entire omelette and there were 3 of us and it was large and magnificent and I alone was capable of flipping it properly (😏) She turned out beautifully 🥺 we felt so drunk on power,,, it was like that “told Brad or whoever to lay on the floor and he actually did it, the absolute madman ahahaha” but a bunch of teenage girls making an omelette. Keep in mind this was before any of us got our licenses so we didn’t rlly know what power was firsthand yet 😔 Other than that.... nothing rlly, I’m very deeply unwilling to do the stupid things acquaintances suggest, because my mother put the fear of God in me (tho she didn’t have to 😳 God programmed me w/ enough wisdom) I think it’s one of the handsomest things abt me... I love to enable ppl but I also love to anti enable them and shame them out of making blatantly stupid decisions. It’s the control freak eldest sister in me probably. Also none of the more risky hijinks I see people my age get up to have ever seemed fun to me. Im too much of a momma’s girl + homebody 😔 and! all my close and long lasting friends are level headed and not reckless, thank god! to be naturally boring is a blessing 💖

Personal loyalty... should go as far as you want as long as you remember that the person who has to deal most with the consequences of your actions is you. So you can do things for other ppl but the chances that they will take the fall for you if you derail ur life in the process... or face worse consequences than them for the same actions.... are slim and not to be counted on too throughly. Also I don’t believe in everything being a petty give-and-take, esp in interpersonal relationships, BUT. U do have to stop sometimes and ask yourself if the person you’re being so loyal to would ever do any of the same things for you. And ofc you shouldn’t be more loyal to any of ur flawed fellow men as you are to yourself ! Not in a cynical way, but a practical one that will prevent you from resenting the ppl you do things for out of love

JAPAN 2017 - DAY 1

On 10th July 2017, my sister and I (with our friends) departed to Japan using Singapore Airlines (SQ) and we departed from Soekarno Hatta Airport (CGK). We left at 17:00 WIB and we transited in Singapore first before leaving for Japan. We arrived at Narita Airport the next day (18th July 2017) at 8:00 AM (local time ofc). We went through the usual, immigration and customs (what I vaguely remembered was that there was a difficulty in scanning my fingerprints because they kept sweating lol). My friend and I changed our outfits in the toilet (thank God for Japanese toilet!! I super love them). Our group consisted of 6 people and three of them went ahead first because they thought the rest of us were taking too long to change outfit, so we separated. I was confused after exiting and I was thinking where I could exchange my JR Pass! Luckily I remembered reading some blogs mentioning to just follow the direction to train, so the three of us (with big luggages) went downstairs following the sign board (it’s everywhere luckily! piuh) and finally we arrived at the JR East Service Center (if I remembered it correctly) and found our friends already queueing so we quickly followed. We booked for the NEX aka Narita Express to Shinjuku (well the train stops at major station like Tokyo and Harajuku too I guess) and along the way I did make up for my face :) (lol but really the journey was so smooth and there was no turbulence at all! plus isn’t that very effective since it will take around 1 hour?? ahahaha) There was enough room for my leg even though I brought a large luggage and even there was free wifi!! 

I already contacted our airbnb host and he gave a really helpful direction for us first timer in Japan! However at first we didn’t get how the ticketing works because we need to transfer to Keio Line from JR Line. And everyone there walks so fast, I didn’t remember how many people I bumped to :( thank God when I was in front of the ticket machine, an aunty was looking at me intensely, seeing that I was confused on how to operate the machine and she could talk a lil bit of English, so she showed me how to buy the ticket. Once we got the hang of it, it was easy peasy! I (we actually) thanked her and there we go! We still knew nothing about train platform, didn’t understand how to read the train map (it is super complicated and colorful!!!) and just blindly asked the officer there, they just gave us keywords (another thing I am relieved about : almost all officers that work at the train can speak English) and we just followed! When we made it to our first airbnb, I was like yay!!! Such a long journey from Narita! We just dropped our luggages and our host explained to us the rules of the airbnb e.g. how to sort out the garbages, yada basic house rules. We chilled in first because it was freaking hot outside before leaving for lunch. We separated so my sister, my friend and I went to Shinjuku to find the supposed-to-be famous ramen according to my lil sis, BUT what we didn’t figure out at first was SHINJUKU STATION IS SO HUGE that beside JR Line there is another local line (I already forget what it is called - Odakyu??? another Keio line??), so we exited from the other station and not JR Shinjuku exit! We only realized this later on when we gave up after being lost for around 2 hours and just ended up eating at random places (it was yummy too) and just wanted to go to Don Quijote! I actually wondered why the place looked so different from travel blogs that I read but it was SHINJUKU too!! Gah, when I found out we exited from the wrong exit I almost fainted :((( I meant, I was literally searching for some touristy shops but there was none so I was sure I wasn’t in the right location :’( but finally we made it to (the right) SHINJUKU!!! I was so happy when I saw Matsumoto Kiyoshi and Uniqlo (knowing I was finally in the touristy location!!!) By the way, those two are literally everywhere! Especially in Osaka, omg, shops in Shinshaibashi imo sell similar things - skincare and food (like kitkat, mochi, pocky, meiji, just buy the cheapest one you can find). Uniqlo - I find these shops quite rare in Osaka and Tokyo (maybe I just didn’t go to every street thoroughly), but there are so many in Kyoto! (there is even one branch near our airbnb)

We just went shopping in Shinjuku and took photos (when we were lost lol) and then we decided to go back to our airbnb and took a shower because we haven’t showered for more than 24 hours (gross I know I was disgusted at myself at that time too). Then we headed to Shibuya!! Unfortunately due to lack of time (we still wanted to explore Harajuku and we thought Harajuku would be more interesting since in my mind Shibuya = shopping), we just saw the Shibuya crossing, took photos there, then saw Hachiko and also took photos there hehe :p After that, we went to Harajuku and explore Takeshita street, shops here imo sell more unique items, we didn’t buy anything here though but we did eat at Angel’s Heart (the famous one) and also took photos at Stylenanda (luckily I saw from one of the bloggers’ photos that there is photo prop at Stylenanda). Then we were done for the day since shops in Japan close quite early compared to Indonesia, most of them close at 21:00 PM and open at 11:00 AM (WHATTT??).

When we got back to our airbnb, the other group shared that they already went shopping at Matsumoto Kiyoshi, Don Quijote and Lush. Turned out later, our decision not to shop on the first day was right! (we just shopped at Matsumoto) Frankly speaking, if you shop from the first day, you still have other cities to visit and you just have to carry your heavy luggages to those cities and ofc you don’t want that.

PRO TIP (who I am kidding :p) : There are 2 Don Quijote in Osaka (Dotonbori area and I don’t know which area is the second one but you have to cross the street once and it is the street across the stall that sells famous Takoyaki), so if you are thinking you don’t have enough time to explore those 3 Yamanote line (shibuya shinjuku harajuku)  (like my group) just explore Harajuku! I find Harajuku is quite different than those two! And there is always enough shopping time (unless you are those shopaholics then hands up), you can always shop in Osaka (seriously though there are many shops in Osaka that open 24 hrs a day aka never close, e.g. those cosmetic shops and Don Quijote!) and if people tell you don quijote is largest in shinjuku/shibuya (I forget), for me, the one in Osaka is enough, they have 6 floors there, more than enough for me thank you :P

you planned to meet up with your best friends on the festival

one, because u know they would just argue who gets to go with u

so u just decided to go on your own

u were wearing a yukata bcuz ur mother insisted u do

which ofc u did since it is nicer than just casual clothes

and!!!

it’s a summer festival

so u arrive

and u see kise and aomine there

huh are they the only ones there?

where are the others?

“hi y/n”

u jumped at the voice beside you

kuroko is wearing a yukata as well

but still

“oh hi tetsu-kun! how long have you been here?”

“i just arrived before you, let’s go?”

u simply nodded and smiled as u approached kise and aomine who were wearing a yukata as well

right after that, you settled to rest on a nearby bench

akashi sat beside you and offered you some good ol’ takoyaki

to which u beamed and gladly accepted

u turned to him

“ahhh”

“let me feed you some!”

akashi controlled his blushing as he opened his mouth

u smiled as u fed him with the takoyaki

the others were jealous

so they approached u and asked u to feed them too

“but, there’s no takoyaki left”

they all went to different booths and came back with food

u cut a piece and told him to open his mouth to which he did

he smiled at u as u feed him

midorima was a tsun but he stood in front of you with kakigori

and asked him if u could have a taste

he blushed a little but told u it was okay

and u were left with the dessert making u very happy and smiley sksks

murasakibara offers u a taiyaki which u accept as u fed him his as well

u were getting weird looks bcuz murasakibara is really tall AHAHAHA

and there’s other guys with u as well

kuroko was last with some ramune but he opted for u to drink it together with him

u smiled as u drank it, clinking your glasses with his

the fireworks brighten up the sky

you were looking up, colors reflected on your face

but it’s fine

bcuz u enjoyed going to the summer festival

with the 7 guys u call ur best friends
