[hello! my ooc blog is @grumblrsafekeeping. this is norrah, a culled rustblood on beforus. its quirk can be a little difficult to understand (since it's technically not english), so this post gets translated!]

I'm Befora, and I use THEY/IT pronouns, or whatever you use for yourself. I'm a rustblood, my culler is a purple-blood named Jayson, and this blog is dedicated to "Am I The Asshole" for Beforus!

A little exercise for my monthly art club prompt, starring Norrah, my Lizardfolk monk and Daniil, one of my partner’s Satyr Fighter from the current DnD campaign. Norrah is a meek and sheltered soul primarily focused on embodying mercy. Daniil is the most lovable sort of himbo just starting the journey away from his Pops and brother to start his masterwork. The two both realize there are feelings on both sides but have no idea what to do about it and I love them.

What if our better nature WAS our nature?

We’re told to and sold to that we’re not enough, that there’s more to be uncovered, that there’re more problems that we need to solve. But what if as we are is enough? For us, for humanity. What if we could trust our nature?

Sometimes when I’m feeling anxious or insecure around my decisions, I take a breath and say, “I trust myself.” After we all have lived through so much pain and have made so much growth within ourselves, why couldn’t we pause and recognize that it’s in our nature to know better now. I’ve been through hell and back. The hell itself was only in my head, but the mind is a powerful place. I’ve found, that if you believe in something enough, it can be true. Valid. Righteous. You can experience anything you can dream of, if you’re brave enough (or crazy enough) to feel it. Now I sound a little like Walt Disney but I hope you know I mean what I say in the most morbid way…

I’m diagnosed with Schizoaffective Bipolar Disorder. What this means is I can find myself in a psychotic state when not properly treated with traditional and alternative medicines (ie. Mediation, breath work, journaling). But every time I’ve fallen in the depths that lay between my ears, I’ve gotten back up. Because calamity is the test of integrity. And if there’s anything I choose to believe, it’s that I can hold my own.

Transparency is a sign of integrity, to me, which is why I share this deeply personal information with you. I may be a designer by trade but I’m rooted in ethical practices and lifestyle choices. This account isn’t just about my work, it’s about technology and how we can use it for social good. How can you be more honest with your audience about your experiences?

We often see mental health being talked about as if that alone can destigmatize it. But it’s also about showing–through action– how you’re overcoming it. I encourage myself to move forward, to keep dreaming, and set personal goals out that can be achieved in years to come. I plan for stability because everyday I practice it. Destruction doesn’t have to lead to more, it can lead to a kind of rebirth. *Choose your rock bottom and work up from there.* It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, it just has to be enough to drive you towards becoming the self you know you are

Digital ad and algorithmic spaces place us in metaphorical bubbles. Ones that reflect only what we choose to believe and see. The bubble shrink and shrink and shrink the more time we spend online liking, sharing, and subscribing.

While the reflection of our beliefs may feel validating, it forces us into a certain mundanity. A kind that’s limited or close-minded. It’s important to not just seek alternative viewpoints but to also clear those caches and regularly clean your data.

Social platforms give you this ability so don’t sleep on it! Look into it. You’ll find that there’s so much more to see out there and some more more to think about in here >>>

On another note, I hate to burst anyone’s bubble but looks like Manic Theory’s site will have to be postponed for a few months. With the start of the fall semester and my focus on client work, there’s only so much I can push out in a day. Dreams without goals stay etched in the mind and never burst out into reality.
