Douglass Trail -> Appalachian Trail -> Garvey Springs Trail Worthington State Forest 4.55 miles 1,157 ft. Elevation Gain

Since I am headed down to North Carolina next week and will be doing some pretty intense hikes, I decided to head up to Worthington State Forest to get some good elevation hikes for practice. I went up the Douglass Trail and once I hit the AT, it started downpouring. It didn't stop until I got back to my car. I managed to snap a couple pictures though! I also decided to try out my new Hiker Hunger Trekking Poles which were amazing and I thought they would be! Lightweight and durable.

State Line Trail -> Ernest Walter Trail -> Appalachian Trail Abram S. Hewitt State Forest 6.52 miles 1,312 ft. Elevation Gain

This hike just became one of my favorites in the state. The State Line trail was just enough of a challenge without being too much, and it leads you right to the NY/NJ boarder on the AT. After that I took the Ernest Walter Trail which had some crazy bouldering, but has absolutely stunning views. It also wraps around Surprise Lake which is scenic, I then got back to the NY/NJ boarder and went into NY for a little. I was trying to make it all the way to Bellvale Mountain, but at some point before that I started to hear some rumbles in the distance. With knowing it was going to storm soon, I turned back to get toward the state line trail and figured the distance I did today was good enough. I highly recommend this hike!
