WAIT A MINUTE MY HEADCANON OF ZIM ALWAYS KNOWING ABOUT HIS DEFECTS HAS A LITTLE PLACE IN CANON!
Tumblr media
One of the first things Zim does upon having his PAK calibrated is point out the mistakes. 40 shmillion mistakes. 40 shmillion defects right from birth. And he almost immediately tells the downloading robot what they are, almost revealing his defects before he even learned what defects are.
Right from the start Zim knew something was wrong with him, but didn’t know what to call those mistakes until he was properly in the academy for a few days and was told exactly what defects were.
I can barely imagine the horror that a young Zim would feel in that moment. He’s known that there were mistakes in his PAK for the last week or so of his existence, but now he’s being told that those mistakes (that he’s come very close to telling people about) are:
Actually called defects
Are flaws in his BRAIN instead of just errors in his PAK
Turn otherwise flawless irkens into mistakes that actively go against the empire
Must be handed it to the authorities so the defective Irken can be “fixed” (actually deleted, but that fact is kept as an open secret until the Irken is a few years older and more used to it. It also tricks young defectives like Zim that know they they’re defective into handing themselves and those around them in)

Tumblr media
Pretty much everything here can often be applied to any military in any setting except where the information would not be usable (such as gunfighting in an era they still use bow and arrow). I strongly encourage reblogging or bookmarking and actually reading a couple of the books then work off their bibliographies etc., because there’s no way I can list or know about every good book for this very wide net coverage. I have done my best to list the best ones I know of that are easy to understand and the knowledge contained within is easily usable. In essence, this list is a mere jumping off point as there are thousands upon thousands of books on the subject. It is also obviously a little United States armed forces-centric as that is the military I was training to join and have the best access to the resources of said same.
This is essentially a rewrite with badly needed revision and additions of an earlier post found here. Unlike that post, I will not just link to pages with their own list. Everything I link to here will be to one thing only.
Where possible I have included links to free, legal copies of the books. They may not always be in .epub or .mobi format, and some are in .pdf format. If there is not a free, legal copy I will link to places to purchase the books and will make a note of whether the link is to a free copy or not.  Not all will be books however, some will be ‘pamphlets’ or essays, of which there may not be an ‘offline’ version but strictly on a website. I will do my best to say what format it is. Links will generally go to Amazon for download/purchase unless stated otherwise
There are also some books that I will be suggesting that can get pretty graphic in description of battles and/or their aftermath and some have pictures of those battlegrounds. They will be marked appropriately using the following symbol: § and the warning is generally that it contains gore (visual or textual) and/or pictures of dead bodies. If there is another reason, I will list it next to the symbol.
So, if you want to make your writing about war (or even just small scale battle and even one-on-one fights) believable, here is a masterlist of books that I can personally vouch for and some are also required reading for the actual United States military branches (and many other countries’). Many you will no doubt recognize because of just how famous they are. You may have even read them already. But even the obvious choices should be included for those who don’t know them beforehand. And some may be from 100+ years ago but they still matter today, such as the strategy books given almost all of them are still on the curriculum for various training programs for the armed forces.
However, bear in mind you don’t have to read all of these. A couple from each category can do you just fine especially if you are on a budget.
And finally, please feel free to send me an ask about this subject I will be happy to help! ALSO don’t be afraid to let me know if a link breaks, because I will definitely want to fix it ASAP.

About The Age Of Wonders: Planetfall Cheat Trainer
Age of Wonders: Planetfall is the newest game from Triumph Studios, the developers of both the Age of Wonders and Overlord series. This title is turn-based, and it puts a sci-fi spin on the classic Age of Wonders formula. The game is scheduled to be released for Windows, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4 in August 2019.
The Age of Wonders series can be challenging, and many people struggle with games in this series. People also like to adapt the game and modify it so that they can have a better time. You’ll be able to do both of these things if you play with an Age of Wonders: Planetfall cheat trainer. If you are interested in using a cheat trainer, there are a few things you should know.
New Mechanics And New Cheat Features
Even if you’ve never used cheats in an Age of Wonders game before, you might want to try them out when you play this title. This title changes the standard formula in a number of ways. For example, it’s introducing brand-new mechanics such as the grazing mechanic. This mechanic means that even when a shot misses, it can still cause some damage.
Don’t assume that you won’t want to use cheats just because you’ve gotten through Age of Wonders games without them before. The fresh new mechanics in the game will up the overall challenge level of the game. You might find that cheats are needed to balance out the difficulty of the game.
Why Use Game Cheats?
Use cheats to easily get through difficult parts of the game or disable annoying game mechanics
100% your game on the hardest difficulty!
Replay missions to find secrets and get more unlocks!
Hack the game and play around with the game mechanics!
You’ll Want To Buy The Windows Version If You’re Using PC Trainers
If you already know you want to play with cheats, you’re going to want to avoid the console versions of this game. While playing the console version can be a lot of fun, you won’t be able to use a cheat trainer on either the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Consoles are locked systems, which means cheats aren’t an option. If you’re a huge fan of cheats, and you’re not sure your PC is going to be able to run this game, you should look into making some upgrades before this title releases.
Build Your Perfect Futuristic Base With AoW: Planetfall Cheats & Game Hacks
If you’ve never played an Age of Wonders title before, you might be on the fence about this title, with or without cheats. If you’re trying to figure out if this game is right for you, why not look at the sources of inspiration?
The developers have said that Star Wars was a major inspiration for this particular title and that they drew upon the Fallout series as well, particularly the older games. If you enjoy these franchises, you might like this game too.
Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a game that a lot of people are looking forward to. If you’re a fan of the Age of Wonders series, this is a title you won’t want to miss. If you want an experience that goes beyond what the base game offers, a cheat trainer is going to be your best option.

How to NOT Port Your PC Game to Mobile – A-Not-A-Review of Distrust
This was supposed to be a review of Distrust, the well received strategy-survival indie spiritual successor to James Cameron’s The Thing. It’s a genuinely neat game that melds ideas from the likes of Don’t Starve with a real-time management layer. You guide the last two to three survivors of a helicopter crash to investigate a seemingly abandoned military research base in the arctic and swiftly learn that things are awry. So far, so wonderfully creepy. That is, if you can actually manage to play it proper on your phone. You see, Distrust first came out on PC, and my goodness does it show because there seems to be absolutely no effort made to work with the new platform.
Icons are the size of ants, and often times you won't even know what they do until after pressing them.
Icons are the size of ants, and often times you won’t even know what they do until after pressing them. Distrust‘s free tutorial level certainly helps you get a feel for what all might be experienced, but the game itself seems to expect you’d be able to drag a mouse cursor over every icon to be informed what functions they serve. Also, because every action is so hard to make out, regardless of if you use the zoom function or not, you’ll often find yourself sending commands you never intended. Just swapping between your party can be an utter nightmare of one thinking you’re telling them to cancel their current task while you were just intending to check in on the other while they were doing something.
It's not that the gameplay itself is bad, but this mishandling makes a joke of ever playing this game on mobile.
Now, you might think maybe if you hold down your one finger, a small cursor might appear, or a magnifying glass might make it easier to choose and decide, but you’d be wrong. In fact, the only reasonable way to even move around the map to survey everything is to open the minimap and tap in there to quickly jump wherever you need to be looking. This leads to an extremely tedious experience trying to get your team to execute your plan properly. It’s not that the gameplay itself is bad, but this mishandling makes a joke of ever playing this game on mobile. I never experienced combat, but I have to imagine it plays even worse if basic exploration is any indication.
Worse still, as I said, while there is a free tutorial, the actual meat of the game is locked off. In fact, a lot of it is obfuscated with microtransactions, and while I haven’t played the PC port, you can be pretty certain it’s not nearly this bad on there. I understand the need to monetize your game – developers need to eat too – but the main hook of the game hasn’t even been fully introduced yet. You don’t end your demo before the exciting thing happens; it should end right as things are getting good. Then there’s incentive to put down the few dollars to see more. Combine this abrupt cutoff with the lackluster controls, and I can think of few worse introductions a game could offer to prospective buyers. It feels like this port was handled with little to no research or quality assurance, which shouldn’t be the case given how well it’s been received on PC.
You can't just slap a game on mobile, something developer Cheerdealers needs to understand.
One can only hope Distrust gets its act together in the future, but first impressions are everything. Being free-to-start might net it plenty downloads, but that doesn’t mean half as many players are going to stick around. You can’t just slap a game on mobile, something developer Cheerdealers needs to understand if they intend to make a place for themselves on the appstore.
