Meet the Gourmand (Splitmind AU)
Reblogs > Likes (Reblogging helps out a lot, even if it doesn't seem like much!)

Sound of body and mind, with a pleasant rotundness.
So I wanted to make Gourm a lot fatter but Im really bad at drawing that.
So instead you guys will have fluctuating fatness depending on whatever is easier for me to draw ;w; (Apologies in advance, trying my best out here)

Pre - Wind
Gourmand was always an indulgent slugcat. His journeys led him from one place to another, seeking only the finest pleasures of an action-filled life. He was also quite the storyteller, and a father figure to many (both biologically and figuratively). He fondly remembers traveling to both Moon and Pebbles, talking to them the best he could and enjoying every moment of his life.
Gourmand's travels weren't alone most of the time, accompanied by other slugcats, slugpups, and sometimes entire other species seeking safety (scavengers, yeeks, lantern mice, everything). It came as no surprise when he eventually found his way to several other iterators, including Grey Wind.
Now, being both functional and not immediately insulting Gourmand the way Pebbles did, he liked the iterator, despite how serious they were. He found ways to make them laugh or calm them down if they were getting particularly frustrated. Wind also used Gourmand as a sounding board for frustrations, including being upset with the general state of the world around them. They wished they were a simpler creature, like Gourmand, and could enjoy life instead of wasting it in a box.
Enter the Firstborn.
Post - Wind
When the strange slugcat pitched the idea to Wind and gave them the pearl, they were hesitant to do it. Despite complaining, Wind still didn't want to abandon their duties as an iterator. It would be highly hypocritical of them to do so. They also didn't want to be living in Gourmand's head, forever burdening the gluttonous beast with their presence.
In the end, it was Gourmand insisting Wind do it so they could explore the world too, along with Wind realizing several other iterators were no longer able to communicate, something they took as the others doing the same thing they were about to do.
After the process was done, the first thing Gourmand wanted to do was show Wind so many simple pleasures. The warmth of the sun, leaves crunching underfoot, listening to the sounds around you, things an iterator wouldn't be able to stop and take notice of. Wind enjoyed every moment of it, and always encouraged Gourmand to try new things - Even when they backfired (Wind still liked experiencing the pain of being stabbed, bitten, starving, etc, because they wanted everything life had to offer, not just the good stuff).
As the duo explored, they found a few other slugcats with iterators in their heads as well. Namely, Gourmand found what he thought to be a mossball, only for it to suddenly uncurl and don a black cloak before smiling at him pleasantly, with an odd beady yellow pupil. Despite both Mond and Wind being unnerved by the other slugcat, they still talked to them. That's how Gourmand met Saint, and it was only after the first time Saint had ascended. Sliver was quick to talk, and Wind instantly recognized the voice. Being a sliverist themself, Wind wanted to do nothing more than talk to her about what she did, but Sliver simply said that she was busy ascending. She suggested Wind to do the same.
Gourmand ran into the same slugcat many cycles later, except they had a perpetually tired look and more yellow patterns. When he tried talking to them, Saint shut him down hard and fled the scene. Gourmand's always been concerned, wondering about where their furry green friend went and what happened to change their attitude so drastically.
Interestingly, one of the few things the duo don't get along over revolves around the spear Gourmand carries. Wind was never used to walking at all, with the only movement being the puppet in a zero-gravity environment. Suddenly, they were given the ability to pilot an insanely obese slugcat on top of learning how gravity works, and they weren't able to fully adjust to it. When Wind's in control, they prefer use of the walking stick, something Gourmand doesn't particularly want to carry around all the time since his legs do work fine.

*points* tell me about your ocs
an opportunity to yap! hehehehe >:3
i got 6 rw ocs(plus a species) but i only have one who is fleshed out decently that i like talking about, her name is Stowaway and she is a white lizard who has been uplifted(read: mutilated) to roughly scavenger/scug intelligence(or a little more)
she has befriended two scavengers(Grappleworm and Batnip), a slugcat(Exile), a lost overseer(Mip) and theyre kinda a little traumatized gang who im writing a fic about(ill post a link once i post the third chapter and redo the first)
she was basically used for some extremely invasive surgery/filleting/vivisection by my iterator and is now permanently terrified of going anywhere near their cans(if she gets scared enough she can regress to normal dumbass lizard behavior)
usually she covers herself in diamond patterning to look more unique among other lizards
also she has a really big spear thats only usable as a melee weapon
and a few extra notes about my others:
-mip is defective, with an abnormally large eye and less vibrant holograms
-exile is attached to their electric spear and they would rather die forever than lose it
-batnip and grappleworm are the gayest
-the iterator, who has a name i wont speak of, is an experimental model who half-collapsed but remains functional(at a limited capacity)
i got a bunch of other various ocs but they are mostly in the most obscure fandoms
#this has been rotting in my drafts for so long lmao#i have a bunch more i could say but. spoilers :D

[PART 1] random buff’s on something bro…
(voice reveal?? voice reveal!)
i’m played rainworld’s random buff mod for the first time and my gourmand free play run is devolving into the anticipated chaos! the current long-running goal is to complete the food quest, but i am currently caged in garbage wastes due to choice and unfortunate card-based circumstance.
for those who don’t know: random buff turns rainworld (an ecosystem simulator) into a rogue-like where after every day/cycle you choose two cards (positive and negative/neutral) from three options. every card enriches the gameplay for unexpected entertainment!
it’s been…very silly so far…
exhibit a: my flameshield + pixieslug gourmand (gay sun) radiantly emanating rainbows and killing everything in a close radius

exhibit b: the Pandora’s Box card swaps out swallowed items for (presumably) gourmand-crafting-like items. i’ve, instead (for anarchy’s apparent godforsaken sake) gotten various other…things…
this card also turned my self-made and hard-earned singularity bomb (canon btw) into a batnip 😔
(i did end up stabbing the pillow thing but it didn’t do anything)

exhibit c: my deaths in a list that gets more tragic: lizards, rain, scavenger toll, red centipede in shelter (parodying turtle toad), a very sad game crash, and a poorly placed radiation bomb in the place i needed to be. chaos in misery!
it’s been so interesting that it could be a very entertaining stream—which i would do if i could figure it out. my friends say i’d be a very good streamer. i am currently under the weather though, as heard it my voice. but! gameplay highlight post! what do we think :]? i did these a lot back on amino and it was really really fun. there’ll definitely be more of these.
i can’t figure out how to screen record and i don’t really want to, so you get some homemade fun instead. anyways, see ya’ll on the flip-side!

Pre - Innocence
After the fateful day where Ranger lost both older siblings, his family was torn by grief. Of course, his parents loved him, but they kept an extremely close eye on him, desperate to protect their last child while hoping the other two found their way back to them. Still, being slugcats and being such a small family, they kept on the move, exploring, bonding with new groups, finding new grounds to settle down at for cycles at a time before moving on.
Eventually, the family (along with some other scugs) found themselves exploring in UI's region. A few even made their way into her structure, including Ranger and his family.
Unfortunately for Ranger, Innocence had been visited by the strange slugcat and knew she wanted to try putting her mind into a creature as well. But being as bad at genetic altering as she was, she didn't want to make a creature of her own from scratch. Instead, taking something young, easily moldable, and making it her own. Ranger fit the bill perfectly, and she kept him from leaving. Ranger's parents tried to fight Innocence, not about to let their only child be taken from them, and while she was going to simply kill them, seeing Ranger's distress over them made her change her mind and force them out of her chamber instead. They never stopped waiting for their precious child for many cycles, all the way until the structure collapsed and they were forced to leave.
Post - Innocence
Specifically, Innocence wanted the freedom of movement and almost flight she had as her puppet. So, she wanted to give Ranger wings before she put her mind into him.
However, the project . . . went far from as planned. As mentioned, Innocence wasn't very good at modifications, and her wing project came up with nothing but small feathery appendages on Ranger's back, nowhere near capable of the flight she dreamed of. However, she was eager to try the idea out, and as such, went ahead with the process and put her mind into Ranger's.
With such a young slugcat, Ranger didn't understand much of the world. He'd learned how to make and use a crude bow and arrow (something Innocence helped him refine a bit when she first met the kid), with a quiver fashioned from pole plant leaves, and arrows made of broken spears tied with vulture feathers. When he woke up with a voice in his head, he thought it nothing more than his imagination, despite how real she proved to be.
The duo never traveled far, with Innocence being timid and Ranger hoping to find his family, but grew fond of the other. Ranger looked up to the voice in his head almost like a mother, and Innocence felt a strange connection whenever she was able to guide and give advice to her host. In his small travels on his way to another iterator (one Innocence particularly wanted to visit to tease him about her newfound freedom), Ranger met a much older slugcat, purple and could pull spears from it's tail like it was nothing. Ranger wanted to follow them, but they didn't want to stick around, only giving Ranger some needles to make new spears out of before disappearing into the world.
When they'd reached the iterator Innocence was talking about only to find him already collapsed, she was irritated but insisted they find the puppet to see if he was really gone. While walking through the broken structure, Ranger bumped into a much, much bigger maroon slugcat with a similar eye and many battle scars. He initially tried to run, but the slugcat blocked him off and instead of hurting him like Ranger expected, they dropped an eggbug egg in front of him, gestured to eat it, and set off, hunting again.
Ranger ate the food and watched, almost curious and anticipating the slugcat's return. When she did, hauling a scavenger corpse, she too, dropped that and insisted Ranger to eat it. With a bit of hesitation and some struggling to tear any flesh off (Arti helped out), Ranger was able to get a full meal from the body. Afterwards, he decided to stick with the fierce slugcat, who did nothing but gush over him and talk about how she wanted to take care of him. Keep him safe and healthy and well-fed. Everything a mother would do for a pup.
Ranger stuck closeby to his new mother, even as she met other slugcats (he was not allowed to meet them at first, since it could be dangerous), and even aided her whenever she looked in a tight spot, raining arrows down on whatever she was fighting. Ranger made himself useful in her final fight, too, as when his mother was fighting the scav chieftain, he was sitting up high, taking whatever shots he could at the leader.
As he, his mother, and another aquatic slugcat they'd met traveled deeper into the earth, Rivulet eventually took Ranger and sat with him so that he wouldn't have to see his mother ascend herself without him. However, Arti's ascension failed, Ruffles pulled her out, and she almost immediately scooped Ranger up and set out to fix things.
Ranger then got to witness the change of heart firsthand as his mother gave pearls and weapons to the same creatures he'd been helping her kill this whole time. It all led up to giving the very mask she'd once held so high back to the very scavenger Ranger remembered pelting with arrows from afar.
As Arti became more comfortable with the scavengers, fixing her reputation, Ranger even got a new father figure: The scav chieftain. Now, he lives with his parents and the rest of the scavengers, happy, but still wishing he could find his old family one day.

Meet the Spearmaster! (Splitmind AU)
Reblogs > Likes (Reblogging helps out a lot, even if it doesn't seem like much!)

The fucked-up science fair project
Some more lore on the designing of Spearmaster is that I wanted my iterator-made sluggies to learn a lot harder into the 'slug' part of slugcat. As such, Spearmaster (and Hunter) have the little feelers on their face, as well as feeling a lot slimier and lacking a lot of fur. Plus, the little ruffle thing around their sides looks really cute to me.

(I was also gonna ping every follower, but 1) they'll see this anyway probably and 2) THERE'S ALREADY 20 OF YOU WHAT??)
Pre - Suns
Well, as 'Pre-Suns' as it gets, considering they made them.
Spears was initially created by Suns as a way to deliver the gold pearl to Pebbles. Suns carefully made their organism, placed the pearl inside it's body, and sent it on it's merry little way. Spearmaster did it's duty, delivering the pearl, but on it's way back, was viciously attacked and the pearl was ripped from it's body. Not sure if Suns wanted a pearl like this floating around, Spearmaster decided to lay the pearl to rest somewhere far, where (hopefully) nobody else could find it.
When Spears got back, Suns mostly just told it to do fuck-all until they needed a messenger again. It was always to give sensitive information, usually to Five Pebbles, regarding the process of self-ascension. Overall, Spears grew used to this routine and Suns never really saw Spears as a living creature, rather, an object.
That changed upon the latest, deep red pearl, once Pebbles began rejecting normal communications. After seeing the pearl so violently ripped out, and realizing just how diligent the messenger was in their journeys, Suns' opinion of the little fellow changed and they treated it more like a pet cat when it returned.
Post - Suns
Similar to Ruffles and Moon, Suns was visited by a small dark slugcat that spoke perfectly with no clear indication as to how. After it explained how it was an iterator living within the creature's mind, Suns became intrigued at the idea that this could be the answer. It gave Suns the unique pearl with the information on how to do such, and told it that should the process be a success, pass the pearl on to others nearby when it was no longer of use to them. The creature also advised Suns to craft the ideal body for this, and Suns simply held up Spearmaster, believing their organism to be a perfect host.
Suns attempted to explain everything to Spears, but (in typical cat fashion) they weren't particularly listening. Suns went ahead with the procedure, and bound their mind to Spears'. When the pair came to, Spears was terrified at the sudden loss of life in Suns' puppet until they explained everything from within their head. Suns wanted to take the pearl to Pebbles first, hoping he was still in good enough health to make use of it, but Spears refused to set paw near his can again. Suns decided to let Spears keep doing their thing, but wanted to explore the world a little before they'd think about trying ascension.
Despite this, Spearmaster never really met any other slugcats, even though they were a fast traveler. Suns kept encouraging them to visit other iterators, but each one they went to already seemed to have gotten the message. Interestingly, Spearmaster did meet a green pup with the same eye, and he was quick to spill that Unparalleled Innocence was in his head. Spears found the fellow charming, but had no interest in keeping a young child alive and left shortly after.
Spearmaster travels afar, guided by Suns to find any remaining iterators and share the message with those it has not reached. Secretly, Spearmaster hopes to find the first slugcat who shared the idea with them, since they found themselves quite fond of the creature, despite only seeing them.
