I can't even begin to describe the ask I received so I'm just going to leave screenshots😅😅
Also in the new mha season, I thought Tsu was being petty when she called Mineta Grape-Juice and Shoji Tentacle. But nope, those are their hero names.
Side note: I feel like when Mineta gets old and knows how to work his quirk better, he'll be able to control if they stick or not.
Slight racism, usual smut.
NOT PROOF READ SO LET ME KNOW IF U SEE SOMETHING
If you imagine Mineta as in the picture above and with a mature voice, this is more enjoyable. Or you can imagine someone else entirely.. Cause even as someone who's tolerant to Mineta I can't imagine him getting any hoes much less smashing (at least not on top). It would be like watching a chiwawa top a mastiff.
"This is some bullshit." You shuffle through various papers on your desk, each containing the receipts of Pro-Hero Grapejuice's celebratory purchases. Most of it was random appliances that could in no way be used on a day-to-day basis, but there were others….a shiver goes down your spine, there were others that were just downright perverted. "What even is a nub tickler?"
Being an accountant was something you were good at, the numbers came easy and it was interesting to see the income and ways of business that different people in power displayed. Planning meetings and getting the occasional phone call made everything a breeze, but it wasn't what you wanted to do. Or in better words, this was not whom you wanted to work for. Even being number 6 causes the workload to be higher than should be physically possible in the hero world. That's one of the reasons you never gave praise to the rankings because no matter how low in the chain, a hero’s work is always taxing.
Shifting in your seat you look at the analog clock on your desk. 3:45, you were supposed to come to work at 5:30 which means you once again have no time to sleep. Having these late nights had increased 10 fold whenever Mineta went up in rank even by a little. His way of celebrating was spending his money carelessly and leaving you to fix the balance. Though you supposed it may be your fault for never objecting when he barged in your office showing his trinkets as well as leaving his credit card.
"Yeah, it's time to go." You muttered as you read the words, "Dwarf Cow in the left lot of Wisconsin."
The next hour, you take a detour from your office for the first time in months. Heading down the hall you watch the walls go from the pale greys to deep purple and violet splotches splattered along the wall before it inevitably melds into solid purple walls as you get closer to the front door of his office.
Hesitantly you knock on the door and wait until a muffled "Come in." Rings through the thick wood. The room itself was just as flamboyant as the walls leading to it. A beautiful fuchsia carpet on the floor made you realize that calling in your two weeks would have been better than walking into the Willy-Wonka factory that was this office. Various spherical decorations hung from the chandelier, and even something as simple as the legs of his desk was made up of crystal spheres.
The man himself sat perfectly balanced on a large purple ball most likely of his own creation, meanwhile, various children sat around him slipping and sliding on smaller balls in an attempt to copy him. "Ah, here is my beautiful assistant!" The compliment made you cringe as you fiddled with the end of the sleep-wrinkled white blouse you had worn for 2 days straight. "Can we talk sir? It is important." Mineta raised an eyebrow at your formal speech before shrugging.
In an extravagant display of balance, Mineta does a handstand on the ball with one hand before flipping to the other side. "Well kids it's time for me to get done as a hero’s job is never over and blah blah blah the gift shop is giving out free plushies and you can keep your ball." The teacher does her best to usher out her students and the sound of childish screams resound down the hallway even though the door was shut. "How can I help you Y/n?" Mineta offers you his ball to sit on and you reluctantly take the offer as you grate in multiple directions in order to stay afloat.
Mineta watches you with hidden interest as he interlocks his hands underneath his chin. "I didn't know you even knew my name?" Mineta Laughs exposing his annoyingly perfect teeth. It was hard to associate this face to the pictures you see when you search for his early years. "Of course I know your name, I stole your nameplate off your desk 2 months ago." Ah, so that's where it went  "What was it you wanted to talk about?"
You sighed, "I would like to put in my two weeks." Mineta goes slack-jawed before composing himself "Why?" Mineta looked at you earnestly, completely confused on why you'd want to abandon your post as his secretary- I mean assistant. "Working for you has become a hassle with your lack of financial maturity." Mineta mock shivers, "Oo big words, me no likey." Mineta hops onto his desk as if he weighed nothing more than paper and squats in front of you, "How about this, you don't quit and instead help me learn how to...how did you say it? Be financially mature." You lean back in your chair unconvinced that he was taking this seriously.
With the final nail ready to be hit, Mineta adds, "How about I give you a raise of 10 percent and a promotion?" You stand up in your chair with an eager grin, "That sounds great!" Mineta smirks to himself but you did not pay any mind to it. "Great, how about we discuss this over food, dinner date?" Your internal celebration screeches to a halt, " Dinner Date-" Mineta looks at you shocked, "Dinner date? Great idea, why didn't I think of it myself!?" A firm hand slides you towards the door as Mineta starts a complimentary speech giving you no room to object, "This is why I need you, you're so smart, I wish I was like you, tomorrow at 11?" You sputter trying to slip past his arms, "11 but I-?!" Mineta loudly gasps again, "There you go doing it again I'm so lucky to have you, tomorrow at 11 my treat!"
The door is shut in your face and the sound of the lock clicking seals your fate. What did you get into?
Cut to 4 years later and you are still not sure of that answer. Simply being bis accountant you had a glimpse of his perverted tendencies, but as his girlfriend, it was further exposed to depths you never could have found yourself imagining. You shuffle papers in the printing room as you do your best to ignore the faint tingling sensation in between your legs. Yet another whim you found yourself following on Mineta’s behalf despite the ever-present fear of being caught. The vibrator comes to life before going back down as quickly as it came. You toss a middle finger to the camera in the top corner of the room knowing he was watching.
"Miss L/n, can I ask you something?" You slap your arm down to your side in embarrassment. I hope he didn't see that.  Your coworker walks up to you holding a small stack of papers. "Yes, how can I help you?" The man shows you various forms as he talks, for once you were thankful for Mineta not embarrassing you in front of others. "Oh I see where you went wrong, this right here would be a 20% increase, not 18%." The man applauded you and graciously wrote down your explanation. "Thank you so much, my name is Kaminari by the way."
"Ah hello, Kaminari, and no worries I'm always glad to help!" You turn back as your papers finally scan through but can't help notice Kaminari lingering. "Say Y/n?" You open your mouth to respond only to close it again as the vibratory comes back to life strongly. "Hmmm?!" Kaminari peers at you, your reaction was strange but he couldn't figure out why. "Um, never mind, have a nice day Miss. Y/n, maybe we can get together over coffee or something?” You shrug turning away from Kaminari in fear of your eyes rolling up. The man sways from foot to foot awkwardly before leaving the printing room.
Snapping out of your personal flashback, you look over at your fiance signing autographs for his adoring and objectively feminine fan base. While it was extremely unnerving how unknowingly close they were to your home, you weren't resentful of their gushing.
Your engagement and your overall relationship had not been made public in fear of your personal life being exploited by paparazzi. That doesn't mean, however, the next thing you witness doesn't get your blood boiling.
A girl, no older than maybe 22 waltzes up to Mineta with the confidence of Muhammad Ali in a ring match. Her raven black hair fell flawlessly down her back with not a single split end. Almond eyes decorated with precise coal blink rapidly to draw attention to her seemingly natural eyelashes. With 4 inch wedges. a black halter top, and cuffed jean shorts, it was clear she was someone on a mission. She effortlessly pushes past the nearby fans as they stop to quack at her rivaling beauty. A smirk draws itself with her soft pink lips as she hears people muttering around and about her.
"Wow she's so pretty"
"They would look good together just look at them."
"Ugh, such an attention whore, not giving the rest of us a chance!"
"I bet a 20 she's his type."
"Is she famous?"
The chatter comes to a close as the girl hands Mineta a notebook, "Can you sign right here?" Mineta flips open the book and his eyes widen a fraction before he puts on his heroic voice, "Wow it looks like you got all of Japan's heroes in this book!" The girl smiles as she watches Mineta scratch his signature, "Don't be afraid to leave your number in there too Mr. Minoru." Mineta pauses at the statement for continuing his elaborate handwriting, "I don't think that would be very plus ultra of me so I'm gonna have to pass." Smug pride fills your chest as you watch the annoyance cross the girl's face.
Mineta finishes signing and hands her back her book, she, in turn, forces a small piece of paper in his hand before holding his chin and kissing him. At that moment nothing else mattered but beating that bitches ass as you yanked her black hair and dragged her to the ground. "This ain’t Wattpad bitch get your hands off of him!!" You turn to Mineta making him flinch with a sharp glare as you yank her hair again, hopefully pulling a few strands out. "You just gonna let her kiss you and not do anything!?" Mineta stretched his hands towards you cautiously, "Y/n calm down, if you would have given me a chance I would have settled it-" "No, settle it now!"
Your rage is diminished by the judgmental looks coming from the fans and you realize your brazen display was out of order.
"Who is she"
"I think she's the secretary l, so why is she so mad"
"Delusional just cause you're with him all the time doesn't mean you're together"
"I hope he fires her."
"This is why we shouldn't let them in Japan"
The girl whose hair you have in a chokehold stands up unbalanced before pushing your hands from her hair. Satisfied at the disheveled look of her previously perfect strands, you turn to walk back to Mineta, your anger having been sated, "Black Bitch." You turn around and go charging towards the girl again grinning when she flinches. Your rampage is stopped as Mineta wraps his arms around your waist and picks you up, "Sorry for the disturbance, we deeply apologize!"
It's almost comical how your mouth spews vulgarity that would make a sailor blush as Mineta drags you behind your apartment building. He ushers you through the back door leading to the washroom, "I can't believe she'd do that in front of me, and you let her!" Mineta shuts the door quietly, leaning his ear against it to listen out for any lingering fans. You sit on top of a washer still ranting as your blood cools down. "The nerve of some of these people is outrageous, even if she doesn't know about us that is still sexual harassment!"
Mineta doesn't look at you and instead peeks through the blinds lining the washroom windows. "I think they are gone, come on." The two of you sneak out the door and walk at a moderate speed all the way back to your front door. In hindsight, you knew that causing a scene like that was a bold move on your part. If anyone was recording the whole ordeal you knew Mineta’s name and possibly yours would be in the headlines by later this evening.
As the last one entering, you lock the door behind you, forehead scrunched together with apprehension. "Mineta I'm sorry, I don't know what got into me. I just saw her touching you and saw red." You face away from the door with an earnest look on your face. Mineta has a cheeky look on his face that can only mean trouble. Despite your similar slim build and height, Mineta easily corners you against the door. "I know exactly what got into you." Mineta’s pointer finger taps your nose. "Jealousy."
You sighed, putting your head down nodding, "Yeah, it's not that I don't trust you, it's just-" "shhh." Mineta lips your head back up with a hand under your chin. "It's fine Y/n. It's not like I expected a perfect little cocksleeve like you to be okay with sharing." You stare blinkingly at Mineta. 'Oh, he's in one of those moods huh?' As expected from such a fiend like Mineta, he was quite possibly hard the whole time he was watching you beat that girl's ass, and for some reason that irked you even more. “Mineta I’m being serious.” The words leaving your mouth did not phase Mineta, he holds your hips and pulls you close to him in order for you to feel his bulge.
“Oh come on, after seeing you be so possessive for me, how can you not expect me to be a lil turned on?” Mineta’s hands circle your ass before slapping it, “Made me feel special.” Rolling your eyes you lean into the lingering kisses he begins to leave on your shoulder. His grip tightens as he shuffles you to the nearest surface. “Makes me feel all giddy inside to know that you do this only for me and no one else.” Minoru unbuttons your dress pants and removes your belt, “But doing that in front of all those people was stupid.” A shiver travels up your arms from the feeling of lips caressing your ear. Mineta dips his hand into your cotton panties and immediately draws attention to your clit.
“Look at me, Mineta Minoru with a girl like you that would fight for me. Who would have thought?” You ball your fists on the table, hanging your head low. “You’re not going to make this easy for me are you?” Mineta slips his other hand beneath your blouse to cup your breasts. Short l  rub down your slit collecting your slick. The feeling was warm and buzzing just underneath your skin, the bastard was well trained on how to slowly but surely bring your pleasure to its peak and hold you there. Your muscles begin to feel more and more like jelly, you sigh “Oh God..” Mineta pushed his body further on yours, rutting against your body. Up until now, his other hand was simply resting on your skin but once impatience overcame him, he used it to pull down your pants.
“You know this will be in articles tomorrow right?” Two fingers curl inside of you making you squeal, “Y-Yes!” Something hard and slick smacks against your bare ass as Mineta removes the bottom half of his hero costume. “So how are you going to compensate me for what I’ll have to deal with tomorrow?” You turn your head to the back with a small pout on your face, “She shouldn’t have touched you.” Mineta coyly smiles before pressing your head down against the table. “You should have let me handle it.”
Mineta was an average of 5 inches in length with conservative girth. But so far he’s been the only man that really added proof that size doesn’t matter. Mineta pulls away from you and leans down to riffle through his pants. You hear a crisp pop of a cap being opened and a slick splatter is heard afterward. A shaky breath leaves Mineta’s lips as he lubes his cock up. Penetrating is a struggle at first, the longer it takes for him to push it in the more both of you become frustrated until he finally pulls your waist back against himself. “S-So good!” The pleasure causes his childhood lisp to slip through as he waits for you to acclimate to the stretch.
You shift your feet when Mineta refrains from moving. "Tsk, you really don't understand the meaning of patience do you?" Your hands suddenly become cool to the touch as Mineta covers them with medium sized spheres temporarily gluing you to the table. "Mineta this isn't fair! Please just a little bit to the left!" Now having you helpless Mineta puts one hand on your back while stroking the base of his cock. "It's not about being fair, it is about teaching a sneaky brat like you to know their place." Mineta begins to move but it's not right, he needs to go more to the left, "Mineta what are you even talking about!?!"
A sigh leaves Mineta's lips, "Don't think I forgot about that slick shit you tried to pull with Kaminari." Mineta watches your ad shake and bounce everytime your hips meet. Your arms twitch and pull at themselves wanting to find purchase on the flat surface. Groans leave your lips as Mineta comes closer to hitting your spot,  "Slick shit?! Y-You're the one that wanted to do that stupid little piano in the first place!" You couldn't see it but Mineta had a deep seated glare on his face. He loops his fingers underneath his yellow scarf and rolls it around long ways.
"I'm really tierd of your mouth. What you think because I let you beat that girl out their I'll let you beat me?" The middle of the scarf is put in your mouth and your head is pulled back by it. Mineta holds both ends of the scarf to slam into your cunt. "Just a greedy little bitch aren't you?" You scream into the cloth as Minetas cock finally hits your spot just right. The constant pulling on the corner of your mouth burned everytime the fabric rubbed against the sensitive flesh. Your feet rise to your toes in a fruitless attempt at getting a break from the pleasure. Mineta holds his scarf in one hand and pushes down your waist. "Didnt you want this? Don't run from it now."
Your pussy squelched around his cock the faster he went making you go cross eyed. "Fuck you feel so damn good.  The table rattled and scraped across the floor with every thrust. "oh fuck, I'm gonna cum!" Your nails scraped the table as you closed your fist, had you had claws it would have been a whole different story. You beared down on his cock, trying, begging to feel more inside of your walls as he moved faster. Suddenly your argument fel worth it.
Mineta knew many things about himself. He knew his birthday, he knew where he was in life, and he knew he had come 6 minutes ago and was bordering hysteria as he pumped his overestimated cock into your wet heat. Each drag made years collect in his eyes.  Tiny whimpers left his lips and his hands squeezed your sides harder and hard.  "So fucking warm. Squeezing down on my dick like that."
He bowed his head and rested on your back,  kissing the sweaty skin as he pushed through the painful pleasure.  "Fuck, fuck, fuck!" Mineta slaps your ass  before pulling out and shoving his fingers inside your pussy. "Cum for me, Y/n. That's it cum on my hands." Mineta's fingers were the only thing that never really grew on him. They were relatively short but thick so even three of them were able to stretch your hole the way you needed.
"Y-Yes, right there shit!" Your cum drips down his arm soiling the fabric there as you squint around him, "That's it give it to me." Mineta buried his face in your pussy licking you clean like a man starved. It wasn't until you whined did he stop and pull his fingers out.
Luckily for you, his spheres were just about coming close to their time constraint. You stand up rubbing your wrists and drinking some water Mineta brings you. A snort captures your attention and Mineta holds up his phone, "Not even an hour." Writing in thick bold words read.
"Obsessive Secretary Snaps on Camera!"
You snort, "I'm the obsessive one huh?" It was going to be a long day tomorrow

Tumblr media
Allright, finally got around to writing another part of my tutorial. In this part I will go over how I paint shadows on the body and some other stuff. Let’s just get into it!
Open this in dashboard for best view of the screenshots.
Disclaimer: I have no formal training for any kind of graphics stuff, I work in an office as a receptionist - I serve coffee for a living. I am absolutely self taught and while I consider myself pretty comfortable with photoshop, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t about a gazillion of other things that can be done that I have no idea about. There are people far superior than me in the Sims community. This is just how I do it, with techniques I have picked up through the years. Some things I go over in these will be pretty basic, some things a little more unorthodox. Disclaimer 2: My edits take time. This is what I do to relax, one edit takes several hours for me. Sometimes days :))) Disclaimer 3: My photoshop is in Swedish, which is my first language. I tried my best to find the English translations for every step that I do.
Tools used: The Sims 4, Adobe Photoshop 2020, One by Wacom Pen Tablet (very basic and unfancy).
Tumblr media
When we stopped the last time we had just painted some shadows on the face and chest area. Now I continue with all other parts that’s showing skin. The hand has some of that wrongly places highlight thing going on, so I use the pen tool to section the hand out.
Tumblr media
On the Sim layer, I choose a color of the hand that suits my purpose and I go over the area I want to "correct". I also removed the shadow on the wrist because I wanted to add my own.
Tumblr media
Going back to the shadow layer, I use my shadow color and go over the part of the hand that would be facing away from our imaginary light source, as well as the part just under the clothing line. Then I blend by going over with a low opacity eraser brush again.
Tumblr media
Between and around the fingers I usually add some extra definition with a smaller soft brush, using the same shadow color. Any uneven parts gets blended with the smudge tool.
Tumblr media
The other hand just needed some shadow.
Tumblr media
She's got leeeegs… Anyone else old enough to remember ZZ Top? No? Just me? Ok. I section out one of the legs, yes, using pen tool again.
Tumblr media
I "color correct" the highlighted part on the front of the leg that I feel is in the wrong place.
Tumblr media
I add my shadows on the front of the legs and under the skirt. Then I reverse my selection by clicking the Marquee tool, and right clicking in my picture. The english option should be called "Inverse Selection" or something like that.
Tumblr media
I paint my shadow on the other leg, building up a little more color closest to the other leg to add separation between the two. And now since my selection didn´t section off the leg from the dress we've got some bleeding because I can´t be bothered by being precise.
Tumblr media
I deselect and use the eraser tool with a hard brush and 100% opacity and start erasing the shadow parts I don't want, I'm careful not to go over any skin parts on the leg and hand. So this is a perfectly good method to use if you don’t want to section off using the pen tool all the time. I switch between the two depending on the size of the area.
Tumblr media
I blend the parts of the shadows that I feel are too harsh with a low opacity soft eraser brush.
Tumblr media
The foot had a little of that mucky highlight thing going on as well, so I mark that part of (pen tool) and go to my Sim layer.
Tumblr media
I go over with an eyedropped color, and go back to my Shadow layer to start adding shadow with my shadow color. I draw shadows along the shoe part and underneath the sole of the foot. This is just to add some dept. Since this was such a small area I opted to not section the skin parts off, I just painted over the whole damn thing and went back in with an eraser to remove any unwanted shadow from the shoe parts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I make a new layer for my Clothing Shadow, and copies the Sim layer mask onto this one as well by holding Alt, grabbing the layer mask and dropping it onto my new layer.
Tumblr media
I eyedrop a color from the darker part of her dress and choose a darker more saturated version of that color. Usually I go with black for the clothing shadow, but it depends on the original colors of the clothes. With bright colors like this dress I go for a darker version of that color.
Tumblr media
I definitely did not do myself any favours when I decided to have the light come from the back of this sim. Straight from the front is always easiest but hey, challenges is how we grow. I use a big ass soft brush and go over the front of the dress.
Tumblr media
Aaaaand the pen tool is back again. I section off the arm of the dress.
Tumblr media
I chose a slightly smaller brush than before (still pretty big though) and go over the part of the arm that´s facing away from the light. Then I invert the selection and paint shadows on the body under the arm, I build up a little more color here.
Tumblr media
I deselect and now we´ve got a pretty sharp line around the shoulder where there naturally would not be. I go in with the eraser brush (low opacity, soft brush) and blend it out. I also blend the shadow that was on the front of the body since it was to harsh.
Now I realized that the light would not hit the hip that directly since the lower part of the arm is in the way, so I section off a big of the hip.
Tumblr media
Since I don't work with especially harsh shadows, and since the arm is not directly in touch with the hip, I draw sort of a cone shaped shadow here. Not letting the tip of the cone reach all the way to the edge of the back.
Tumblr media
I clean up a little more using smudge and eraser tool. She´s starting to look pretty good eh?
Tumblr media
Now I want to merge all my Sim layers, but since I suffer from anxiety and can´t committ fully I want to keep all the layers as well. So I mark the Sim layer group and duplicate it (ctrl+ J), and hide the original Sim layer group.
Tumblr media
I select all the layers in my new Sim layer group and merge them by pressing ctrl + E.
Tumblr media
Now they´re one layer, without any layer masks. For the purpose of this tutorial I rename this layer Sim (when merging the way I do the new layer will take the name of the top Layer). Now this is our new Sim base layer, the old one is hidden away and hopefully we don´t have to touch that again because that would mean I would have made a major mistake somewhere that I can´t correct on this new layer. It’s very unlikely, but it feels nice still having those other layers as backup.
Tumblr media
Since Sims is a video game we have some parts that are pretty square in our picture even though they wouldn´t be in real life. Time to smooth things out.
Tumblr media
I go to Filter -> Liquify. This is like the smudge tool on crack. There´s a lot of things that can be done in here but in this particular case I'm going pretty simple. I use the smudge and go over any pointy bits that are'nt supposed to be pointy. I change the brush sizes to fit the area I'm working on. Some places need smaller brushes, some benefit from bigger ones.
Tumblr media
Here's a comparison before and after of some of the things I corrected in Liquify. It's not a huge difference but it does looks nicer.
And that concludes part 4 of this tutorial. Don’t hesitate to message me if you have any questions.

Strap in folks, it’s rant time.
So, let's talk a bit about manipulation and abuse present in fandom. It’s uncomfortable, but fuck it lets go, I’m tired of the “good vibes only” push that sweeps all this shit under the rug. I’m not pretending to be an expert by a longshot here and I’m happy to discuss, but I have dealt with enough abusive and manipulative people personally and professionally to spot em a fucking mile away and generally keep my distance. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed a gross trend where there are people being attacked, then are guilted into keeping quiet because the Abusers make it seem like it’s not worth mentioning or that it doesn’t really matter... Unfortunately, the Abusers know exactly what they’re doing, they’re really fucking good at it, and they know exactly the kind of response they’re going to receive (because in some cases, this isn’t the first fandom they’ve pulled this same shit in).
Right off the bat though, lets get some basic facts about fandom out of the way. No one in fandom owns any character: be it interactions, personality or anything else about said character. No fandom creator owns an idea, or has any right to tell people off for having similar ideas/techniques/styles etc. There’s no such thing as a completely original singular thought, and pretty sure if you think of something ‘original’, there’s inspiration from another source. No one owns a hairstyle, a costume, a backstory, a colour scheme, an item, a scar etc etc. If someone has a similar thing, neat, clearly you’ve got similar tastes. If someone has a carbon copy of your creation on multiple points, ABSOLUTELY question it, but having the same hairstyle isn’t copyright infringement, and having a similar history isn’t ripping someone off, it’s coincidence.
Going to put the rest under the cut, CW for manipulation tactics, abuse, and all those sorts of goodies.
So, I’ll start with the Abusers here. Everyone knows who they are, they know who they are, unfortunately the victims of them are worried about speaking out because, for the most part, the ones abusing people are in a position of perceived power and speaking out against them can put the victim in a tricky position. No one wants to be ousted from a fandom they enjoy for speaking out against someone that’s been around fandom since its inception. Which brings me to my first point.
Power: Abusers LOVE the feeling of having power (be it follower count, general clout, perceived hierarchy etc) and get really uncomfortable when they feel someone new comes to threaten their position. So, what do these people do in that situation? Option A is to completely ignore and hope they’re not dethroned, Option B is befriend immediately and subtly manipulate the person to keep a close eye on their actions. Keep your friends close, but enemies closer amirite?
So how the fuck does a person subtly manipulate another person, shouldn’t it be obvious? Fuck man, I wish. But there’s a lot of different techniques used to keep people reigned in and submissive: guilt tripping, evasion/diversion, attention seeking, lying, intimidation, playing the victim etc etc. So obviously these will all present differently based on the abuser, but the goal of all of them is the same. To stay in power, and keep control over everything they can.
So how would all of these present online? (of course these examples leave some wiggle room for context lost in text/translation/cultural differences etc, but for the most part it all fits the same pattern that the abuser would use in a face to face situation).
Guilt- tripping: “Well you wouldn’t be here if not for me” “You owe me for your place in the fandom” “well if we really were friends you’d do this for me…” etc etc. Things that pit your emotional attachment to the Abuser against you, the closer you are, the easier it is. Suddenly the Victim finds themselves indebted to the Abuser for their ‘friendship’ that the Victim didn’t realize was conditional.
Shaming: Invalidating the victims feelings by saying things like “even a child knows better than this”, “it’s okay you don’t understand, you’re probably young”, “I’ve been around fandom longer so I know how things go” etc etc. It makes the Victim feel like they’ve done something wrong by drawing boundaries for themselves, or sticking up for themselves. Remember, the Abuser doesn’t want to lose their crown so they will talk down to their Victims to make them more unsure of their stance, second guess themselves, and feel bad that they spoke up in the first place.
Projection: “Others have done X to me, I would NEVER do the same” It’s a simple yet effective tactic. The Abuser takes the things they’ve done to people, say it happened to them, and shift the blame to the now faceless enemy so the Victim feels obligated to side with the abuser because, yea, those things mentioned fucking SUCK and no one wants to experience it. No one wants to be that asshole saying “no you deserved it” (because no one fucking deserves to be doxxed, swatted, hacked, etc etc)
Playing-the-victim: Abusers LOVE playing this game. It’s their bread and butter to set the stage for manipulation. “Having a really hard time rn, sorry im such a fuckup”, “struggling with mental health”, “this is all so hard for me” (legit though, if you are struggling please seek help where/when you can, mental health is important). So any of these statements alone can be harmless, and overlooking someone's mental health can have dangerous outcomes, HOWEVER, when these sort of statements are paired with the other things mentioned, it’s no longer simply a vent or a way to work past personal demons, it’s a way to gain sympathy and support, and it is very intentionally done to garner that emotional response from those that will listen to them.
Attention-Seeking: can be as simple as “no one interacts with me anymore”, making a dramatic vague post, deleting that same post and making a newer, more dramatic post but this time seeking affirmation from the good responses of the last post, posting cryptic messages that ooze “ask me what happened” (vaguebooking is a plague), basically anything that is asking for a response without asking. How is it manipulative though? Guilt. If you’re aware of the Abuser, these types of posts are meant to abuse the Victim's sense of empathy, the natural response to these sorts of posts is “what happened, I’m sorry that happened to you”.
Diversion/Evasion: straight up changing the subject or switching the blame to anywhere BUT the Abuser. The Abuser says “change X you’re copying me”, the Victim responds “I feel I didn’t copy you”, and the Abuser presses “well the fandom might not think so” and changes it from a personal issue to a larger, more aggressive problem. In this case, the Abuser is the ONLY one with a problem, but are purposely misleading the victim to take the blame off themselves. It’s not THEIR problem, it’s the FANDOMS problem...now making it the Victims problem.
Blame: Abusers love to blame everyone BUT themselves for their perceived problems. Fandom isn’t interacting with them as much? It’s the fandom that’s dying. More drama in the fandom? Well there’s too many people here now. Getting called out for bad behavior? That’s the problem of the person who CLEARLY doesn’t understand how fandom must work. It’s the age old tale of “I’m perfect, it’s obviously everyone else who is wrong”. At what point does the Abuser realize that they may be the cause for their own misery? They don’t.
Intimidation: This is a fun one that’s usually a last resort because if the Abuser is pretending to be a sheep caught in a snowstorm, it doesn’t look good for them to publicly announce they’ve been the wolf the whole time. It looks like “well I have X on you”, “if you only knew what I could say about you”, and “I could ruin you” type shit. Of course, in most cases, the Victim hasn’t done anything to warrant this sort of aggression, but the queen is losing her pawns and is now grasping for anything to fight back with. And who knows what sort of lengths the Abuser has gone to to gain information on the victim. It’s pretty easy to find out a lot about a person online, so the Victims back down due to the threat of the unknown.
Avoidance: refusing to talk about the problem, which is an issue I have with fandom itself, in this case. The “no drama good vibes only” is so fucking detrimental when there are problems that need to be addressed. An Abuser will push the narrative that they’re only here for a good time and don’t want drama, while actively creating drama in the shadows. Its not a problem if we don’t talk about it, right? If no one knows, it’s fine. It’s fine. No, it’s manipulative, and if there are problems they NEED to be talked about, because that’s how you find resolutions.
Denial: This one ties in with avoidance and blame, in that the Abuser will straight up deny that they’ve ever been, or have ever created a problem. The Victim is making a big deal from nothing, they can’t control how others feel about them, so they’ve done nothing wrong. The Abuser will claim they had the best intentions when approaching someone, so clearly they have done nothing wrong.
Lying: Including omitting any information from arguments that may paint the Abuser in a bad light. The Abuser absolutely doesn’t want anyone to find out what they’re up to, so they’ll say exactly what they need to to change the narrative surrounding them. It could be minor changes to conversations to complete fabrications. Ex “I only approached X to make sure they were okay after X happened”, but X screenshots tell a completely different story. It’s not always easy to catch an Abuser in a lie, especially when there’s the push for “no drama” so no one talks about their personal experiences and can confirm/deny what was/reported to be said.
So bringing all of those points together and bringing it back to the Abuser wanting to have the power to control what they like/don’t like in fandom. Once they have that feeling of invincibility, they may coyly ask people to delete posts that could lead back to them looking bad, politely ask another creator to change their creation because the Abuser doesn’t like it, or them asking nicely to stop interacting with another member of fandom the Abuser doesn’t like. It may not seem like much at a first glance...after all they asked nicely. However, once you look a little harder and a little longer, it becomes very clear that the intention is to stay in control. The Abuser will do ANYTHING to stay on top, and will employ every trick they have in their arsenal to sew discord and mistrust amongst other members of the fandom to keep the fingers pointed anywhere but at themselves.
So, sound familiar to anyone? My inbox is open for anyone who wants to chat about the topic. If I’ve now made you uncomfortable and you’re going to unfollow/block, cheers, wish you the best. And if you’re feeling called out and attacked by my post? GOOD, stop being a fucking shitty person.
A few last reminders before adding some resources:
Setting and enforcing personal boundaries is not abuse.
Choosing not to interact with those who make you uncomfortable is not rude.
It is important to call out abuse when you encounter it, it could save someone from becoming a victim themselves.
Always stand up for yourself, you’re your own best advocate.
Now for some resources: I used a few of these while researching along with my old textbooks from my psych, abnormal psych, and human relations classes I took back in university.

I find it really telling that even after their “apology” (which was really weak and seemed more like barely admitting to their problems and sweeping it all under the rug), Anto still has the evidence up on his tumblr.
He can’t say “I don’t accept your apology because it sounds weak and fake and barely takes any real responsibility...” without sounding like a jerk to certain people. (Even if it’s true.)
There’s a difference between saying:
* Okay I finally admit I might have made a mesh that looks almost identical to yours and it might come across as copyright infringement oops sorry about that...and that it took so long to admit...
VS
* I am deeply sorry to the communities I hurt. Not just those who play the sims, but the creators on secondlife whose work I directly stole and edited and claimed as my own. I was not right to deny the claims against me when I knew they were true. From now on I am going to hold myself to a higher standard and apologize to those who I have hurt.
See the thing that rings false about Sonya’s apology is the claim that they didn’t “steal” the mesh but copied it side by side. This rings hollow because of all of the evidence posted by Anto and others that literally shows how IDENTICAL the “Sonyasims” meshes are to the original meshes. Yes, there are some minor differences, but they are few and the similarities are way too uncanny for it to be copied.
In my profession I deal a lot with kids who “trace” artwork and pass it off as their own. One of the biggest red flags is the artwork being too similar to the original. Why? Because if you’re “eyeballing” the work and drawing (aka copying from a reference image) there will be enough noticeable differences for it to not look exactly like the original. Lines might not be as smooth or straight, proportions might be slightly off, details missed. A traced image, however, looks 95% or more like the original with only a few details missed most of the time.
And sonyasims work, based on the screenshots and video evidence compiled, looks like a traced work I’d get from one of my kiddos.
See, there IS a difference between taking someone’s work directly and tracing and using it as a reference for a new work (particularly if you are in the process of learning how to do an art form). Usually if you are not making serious money (I.E you only sell your eyeballed work to a few friends/family members that want one vs trying to make a “brand” and sell it professionally) you can (normally) get away with eyeballing work and not changing it too much. (While it might not be 100% in line with copyright, this is commonly done at the beginners/student level — ex: a student selling a work they did in class at an art show that was heavily derived from a reference image to a friend/teacher.)
But when you decide you want to be a “professional” artist, you have to be able to take a reference image and remix and change it enough that it is a new work in its own right. Copying a reference alone won’t cut it. You have to make it different enough that people can’t come after you for it thinking you lifted a good portion of it from another work in any form. Lots of professional artists have had issues with this, a recent case being Jake Parker, the founder of Inktober, who was accused of plagiarizing from another artist’s how to draw book.
Sonyasims cannot claim ignorance about where the inspiration for their mesh came from. They can’t claim they were only copying the meshes of Anto and others for practice or as cc for their own game. They blatantly put it on their patreon, and claimed that the edited mesh was their own. They tried to be a “professional” cc maker by taking the work of others, editing it a slight bit, and selling it as their own under their own “brand”.
When called out on it, they denied it until they were blue in the face, even throwing out wild suggestions on how they’d “prove” their innocence. All this did was make people more upset, because in light of all the evidence shared....sonyasims’ denials rang hollow.
So what can we ask ourselves and learn from this?:
1) How are we as a community going to deal with “creators” who are blatantly stealing meshes from other sites and creators? I’m not just talking secondlife, I’m also talking turbosquid, imvu, sketchfab, and other 3D sites and places where people take and/or buy meshes and then resell them as their own sims 4 content. As I’ve detailed in one of my past posts, many of these sites don’t actually allow you to sell their meshes for 3D worlds like the Sims 4. And many sims 4 creators don’t inform the original mesh creators about how their mesh is being resold.
How are we going to deal with this? Because this is a bigger problem than just Sonyasims. Many high profile CC creators are VERY guilty of fully converting entire sets from 3D modeling sites to “sell” as their cc content and the community turns a blind eye to it because we want pretty things for our game and don’t think about where they come from. It’s easier to just assume that person made them....even if they are amazingly able to “crank out” tons of surprisingly high quality content on the daily...(almost as if they didn’t have to mesh much at all...🤭).
2) What actions should be required of those who have violated the community’s trust? At what point will they be “forgiven”?
If Sonyasims wants to rebuild trust in the community they will have to show that they deserve it. They have two options. Either try to find more obscure meshes to steal that people won’t recognize, or actually mesh stuff themselves and show they are sorry for their actions. I hope they choose the second, but at what point does the community have to forgive someone who’s wronged it? I think of Savvysweet, who although a majority of the community loves and still supports even with the incident earlier this year, still gets hateful asks and comments from others. What should a simblr do when they’ve been proven to have wronged the Sims 4 CC community? What steps should they take to show true remorse?
3) What do we, as a community value? Do we value having “pretty stuff” in our games, regardless of how it got there and what creative individual’s rights are stepped on? Do we value having a system of paywalls and exclusives where only those who have more can access the creations of the creative community? Do we desire an open source and sharing community where creatives come together and learn and share resources freely while respecting each other?  These are all important questions for us to ask as we continue to move forward from this. While this is not the first time a creator has been called out for stealing meshes, this is one that has gained a lot of attention. And while I agree that they deserve the negative attention and consequences that come with their actions, I also feel that if we as a community are going to publicly hold them accountable for it, we need to examine others who are doing the same thing. Because it’s up to us to decide what we want our creative space to look like, and feel like.  So chew on these questions, ponder them. If you have an opinion on them, I’d love to know. They’re just questions to consider, because I sure don’t have an answer.

Um... I recently found out that a mysme artist copied other artists' work, just changing the character in it, and I kinda don't know how to feel about it? Like I can't know for sure that all of their work is straight up copied, but while looking for references I found at least 5 drawings that were copied and it's kinda disappointing, because now I don't even know which of their artwork really came from their imagination or was copied lol and I really looked up to them
It's weird bc I know pose theft isn't a real thing but when a piece's entire concept is based around the pose or its uniqueness, it really feels like plagiarism/theft to see the exact same thing but with just another character (or characters)
Sorry it seems random to come up to you about this but I just didn't know how to react, like I didn't want to make it public because the artist is well known and people on the internet can be a bit... intense, I know it will bring more harm than good, but at the same time it just feels wrong to keep it to myself?? Idk, do you think it really is plagiarism? Should I just forget about this and keep it to myself forever? Maybe I'm not properly explaining the situation so if you need to, I can send you screenshots
I guess it really depends on a case-by-case basis. No one situation is going to be the same, so you have to view it through a different lens each time. It's one thing to take strong inspiration from something that you see and make your own interpretation. If it's close enough that you know who it was inspired by? It's kind of important to give credit where credit is due.
It's going to come down to what you're seeing with the art? Ideally, if you see that they aren't crediting somebody for their inspiration, take your concern to the original artist and let them know so they can get into contact with the other artist. That way the original artist whose work was used as a reference/copied can make sure that they take care of this since it's their art that's been used.
You have to credit the artist that you were inspired by if that's the case and talk to them about it to see if they're comfortable with sharing something inspired by their work if it's really similar to what they did or give credit to what gave you the idea for your take on what they did, and if not, you'd keep it to yourself and respect their wishes. There's just a respectful way to share your creations and it's important to credit people if you're taking concepts from their art to apply in your own. Again, case by case basis.
So, my best advice? If you know the original artists, talk to them about your concern and let them know what you're seeing, and they'll be able to make the call for themselves and talk to the other artist about what they're doing. That's about the most that you can do to make sure that it's handled properly. Nobody wants to hurt anyone out here, so, keep it respectful and look between the lines to see what you feel is right.
Referencing isn't wrong when you're studying and working on your style but you have to be honest about it!

𝕿𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖆 | 07/11/19
This is the third out of the four weeks that this workshop is happening. Though I wasn’t there for the first weeks lesson, I have managed to catch up over half term and have fully prepared for this lesson.
When the lesson began, we all just dove straight into working and continuing where we left off from before half term (Mood board and thumbnail ideas). During the half term I had decided what I wanted to do by evaluating which of the thumbnails I found myself drawn to the most. So with that done, I drew a portrait for me to use as the main subject for the poster. Here are some screen grabs from the process of making it, all done using Krita and my drawing tablet:
Tumblr media
Here is the finished portrait:
Tumblr media
After doing some work individually, we were told to take a moment to focus up on the board, where we would then go through some terminology based on Type.
𝕿𝖞𝖕𝖔𝖌𝖗𝖆𝖕𝖍𝖞/𝕿𝖞𝖕𝖊𝖋𝖆𝖈𝖊 𝖛𝖘 𝕿𝖊𝖝𝖙/𝕱𝖔𝖓𝖙
Typography is simply put just the actual writing, say for example on a poster; it’s the body of text, or it can also be referred to as “copy” (though this usually only applies with media texts ((film, blogs, posters, news papers etc.))).
Font is different types of text, for example Times New Roman, Arial, Perpetua, Verdana, Calibri, Impact etc. Font focuses on the appearance of each symbol and/or letter.
Serif (font) in typography, is the small extra stroke located at the end of the main vertical and horizontal strokes of each letter. These can also be referred to as glyphs. A popular Serif font is Times New Roman:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sans serif (font) is a category of typefaces that do not use serifs/glyphs (the small lines at the end of each line or stroke of the letters). A popular Sans serif font is Verdana:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The key for this workshop is to play around with the different fonts that come with Adobe Illustrator to find what works for you and your poster.
Hierarchy is a term that describes the focal point of the content, essentially breaking everything within it into a list of most to least important. Doing this makes you able to let the reader know where to look first by the use of scale and positioning of images, type, logos etc.
Kerning is a term used when specifically talking about typography. It refers to the spacing between letters, which can cause issues with certain words reading differently than if they were spaced accurately.
Tumblr media
Tracking is a typographers term for letter spacing. Using this can make text seem less claustrophobic.
Tumblr media
Tone of voice will guide users to the right emotion and allow them to relate to the content shown. It’s important to consider these aspects when designing the poster!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With all of this in mind for the rest of the lesson, I continued working. At this point I already had my main subjects completed, so now it was time for me to put together the poster itself using Illustrator and following what the brief specifies to include within it. The brief says that the final poster has to be of A2 size, meaning I had to create a custom sized canvas to work on. The dimensions for an A2 sized file is 420 mm x 594 mm.
Tumblr media
I then imported the png of the portrait, making sure it’s the top layer so I then could experiment with some different colours, patterns, tone, shape etc. I already had a general ideas in mind with a bold round shape behind the figure, mostly done for compositional purposes just to direct the eye to the focal point even more. The week before, I did a selection of different thumbnail ideas for the poster in which i ended up wanting to mix together number 3, 4, 8 and 6. 3 and 4 for the framing by using the circle, 8 for the contemporary looking plants and face paint/stripes on cheeks and 6 for the 3/4 view.
Tumblr media
The following screen grabs are just of me experimenting with some different options.
1.
Tumblr media
2.
Tumblr media
3.
Tumblr media
I played around with some line tools for the circular shape as seen in the second screenshot, and by clicking around I found that if you increased the size of this particular line brush, it created a painterly gradient. I really liked this effect since it added some additional interest to it by giving it some subtle texture, something that can be a bit difficult to archive digitally.
Tumblr media
I wasn't really feeling the green/turquoise tone because it didn’t really make any of the other colours pop or stand out, which is definitely a must for an eye-catching poster. So with that said, I changed it to a bright blue- contrasting and almost clashing with the warm oranges. The festival is supposed to be a summer festival so I though it would be good to incorporate the bright blue as to simulate a hot summer day with no clouds in sight, a big bright sun shining down on the stages, music blasting and people cheering.
Tumblr media
After adding some plants with the use of the brush tool (a tool I actually haven't used before, but found to be really handy for creating something more painterly, such as these plants) by using different hues of blue. - Since then, I also added in some thicker strokes of the bright blue colour and some white (simulating big palm leaves) to emphasise on the festivals tropical and Brazilian aspect.
Tumblr media
Once I was happy with the background, it was time to look into the title. Keeping in mind about the hierarchy of all the information that had to be included on the poster, I had the title be at the very top. I decided this because it tells you what the event is based upon and it also conveys the vibe and feel you can expect from this event; happy, bright; tropical.
Tumblr media
I then came up with two different styles of the title; again, using the pen tool with a brushy textured brush. To decide which worked best, I decided to put it up for a vote, so I printed each version out next to each other on a piece of paper and took a round with my peers in the studio with a sharpie, asking them which they preferred;
Tumblr media
The results were obvious; number one got everyones vote.
So then I took this version into Krita, the program I primarily use for all my art, both digital and for general editing. I did some minor adjustments, using layer modes (mostly soft light and overlay) to add in some extra colour. I also added a few sparkles around the portrait and circle + some additional detail such as steaks of hair, stubble and freckles, as well as a bit of a white outline around the guys facial features, just to separate him from the background to make it read a bit better.
Tumblr media
I also added in the Southbank London logo in the top right and did the painterly streaks of white on his cheek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a higher res version of that:
Tumblr media
I then took this altered version back into Illustrator to start doing the text. I wanted to go with a clean style so it would be easy to ready and understand, so  I chose the font Bebas, a Sans Serif font. I wanted to give it a more modern feel, just so it wouldn't look as if it was an outdated event from 2010 or something alike that, so I took the text box and simply stretched to my liking.
Below is the process of me decided the hierarchy of all the posters information listen on the brief and putting it onto my poster in an organised way;

Here is the finished poster:

Update:
I corrected some spelling mistakes using Krita and the polygon tool:

Picking Colours

If you don’t know how to get Screenshots of your mayor in high quality please look around on either google or tumblr!
Tumblr media
To start picking colours I use the Eye-drop tool to select photos straight from the image in my drawing program! For this tutorial I’ll be using Sketchbook Pro which is Free, has no Ads, and is the closest thing to PS cs6 in an app that I like! It also has line prediction which can help smooth hair waves!
Generally I like to try and get 4 colour variants from the original picture, this helps with light and dark and blending later on! For each attribute for your OC pick at LEAST 3 colours! I’m doing her hair, face, and feet! So I picked those colours here!

Blending The Hair
╚═══.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.═══╝
I do a new layer for all my edits EXCEPT Face edits (I’ll try and explain these later)! So we’ve selected around 4 colours for her little ear flipper...gills?You start by drawing the basic shape of what you want in the colour that’s most PROMINENT on the hair! This is our “base” colour. Adjust the shapes as needed, then start adding the darker colour where the shadow would be and then the lights where the lights would be! I used a blending tool to blend the colours and edges, it makes the photo edit look like it’s from the game!Save your darkest colour to almost “line” the finished product! Make sure to blend out the edge a bit so it isn’t a hard line. The best advice I can give for this step is take your time, look where the light is coming from, and observe how the colours look on the base photo! This same advice applies for any other non face cosmetics...like her flippers!!
Tumblr media
╔═══.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.═══╗
Blending the Face
╚═══.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.═══╝ If you are adding or removing an eye, you’ll have to do what I do, and that’s edit the BASE photo! This might be a bit scary at first, but it’s worth it I think!
Tumblr media
To remove an eye you’re going to use the selection tool and select the eye you want to be her “main eye”. Move it to the center of their face! Then you’ll need to blend the existing skin OVER the big white patch you made in their face. Select some of the skin colour and add it as you go! Now you can create a separate layer and place skin colour over the other eye, any harsh edges etc. I find the airbrush tool on a super low setting helps the face look more pixelated!
To add an Eye!
All you need to do is copy the selection you made of the “main eye”. Add this in the middle of the forehead or wherever you want it! Maybe their a fortune teller and have eyes on their palms!! Blend the edges accordingly and voila! They’re no longer strictly human! ╔═══.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.═══╗
Adding Blemishes
╚═══.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.═══╝
Tumblr media
Can we all agree freckles are so cute? Or even some light blush! To do these, they’re pretty much the easiest cosmetic change you can make, that’ll still make your OC stand out!
Choose a brown shade, these here work fine but I prefer cool tone shades for freckles.
Make very small dots, in two varying sizes! I find having two sized freckles dispersed looks better than one size! More natural!
Pick up the main skintone and airbrush LIGHTLY over them! This will just make them look like theyre IN the skin not ON.

Mega Man Network Transmission
Tumblr media
Mega Man Network Transmission is one of those games I've had forever due to buying it at GameStop back when they actually regularly stocked GameCube games.  It took about six and a half hours to finish.  Through the magic of emulation, I used an Xbox 360 controller and had to play around a little with the controller settings in Dolphin since the GC and X360 layouts are a little different.
Tumblr media
Nothing serious, considering you never need to use either stick.  Jump on Xbox B, fire on A, use chips on Y.
TLDR The Good
Callbacks to the Classic series - From the disappearing block puzzle in Ice Man's stage to having reversed gravity sections in Gravity Man's stage, people who are familiar with the Mega Man Classic games will see some nice references to the Robot Masters here in the stage gimmicks.  Some viruses come straight from the Classic games and aren't found in the other Battle Networks!
Great music - Even the "basic Internet" theme is high-energy and gets you in the mood to beat the crap out of some viruses.  Every other stage has its own theme and I found myself not really liking only a handful of tracks...amusingly enough, the remix of the home theme from MMBN was one of them.
Flexibility/Customization - Much like the BN games, you can stick whatever chips in your Folder, but there are no Chip Codes and copies of a single chip stack to a set limit instead of each taking up a Folder slot.  Chips also helpfully tell you in what situations they can or can't be used (on the ground, in the air, on a ladder, while using a wire hanger) as well as how many MP each use burns.  PowerUPs return for the Mega Buster to boost its damage, its rapid-fire capabilities, and enables/quickens charging too.
Tumblr media
Shh, I X series now.  The wire hangers show up in a few stages but there aren’t any vertical ones at least.
TLDR The Bad
Early-game hell - Your Mega Buster starts out horribly weak, you have a small variety of chips that are also weak, and said chips are your best means of actually killing viruses to get more chips.  The first boss in the game can kill you in about four hits with the right Armor and mercy invincibility is extremely short.  It's not that bad afterwards but it's far from the easiest sidescroller Mega Man game, potentially worse if you're not used to how chips operate in the context of the gameplay.  Like having an MP meter but also so many uses per chip.
Some grinding required - You'll need to kill viruses quick and with little to no damage taken to get them to drop chips, and you'll need to pick up Zenny coins in the field to fund increasingly-expensive upgrades and other chip purchases.  This ties back into the hard start but at least you can immediately use chips you pick up if you’re already using them, or once you shuffle your Folder if not.
RNG screwage potential - Just like the core series, you can still end up with a bad draw of cards in the Custom menu.  You'll have to wait longer than in the BN games for the Custom gauge to fill due to the more actiony aspect of the gameplay, but you can get up to ten chips to show up on future draws and you can eventually find/buy FastGauge and FullGauge consumable items.
Trying something new here with the review format.  Why not put some TLDRs on top?
It's been a month since Lan and MegaMan.EXE defeated the WWW's Life Virus and peace has returned to the land.  But now there are rumors of an even worse virus making the rounds and a tainted vaccine that's making Navis go crazy.  Time to jack in and uncover the mystery of the Zero Virus!  Huh, where have I heard that term before?
Tumblr media
TrustMe.exe has encountered a problem and needs to restart.
Mega Man Network Transmission is a mashup of Classic Mega Man platforming with elements of the Battle Network series.  MegaMan.EXE runs, jumps, shoots, and slides through a variety of stages while navigating around traps and destroying viruses in his way.  You place chips in a Folder and these are randomly selected when you call the Custom screen and you can then use said chips a limited number of times, limited both by what you find and buy but also the arbitrary limit the game sets.  I didn't play one stage long enough to see if completely-expended chips were made reusable when you burned through the rest of your Folder, however.  There's also an MP bar that limits your chip spam but at least it constantly regenerates.  The elemental strength/weakness system is still in place and since this takes place before Battle Network 2, you still have elemental Armors to mitigate damage instead of Styles.

Hitboxes are pretty tight so I’m unfortunately eating the shock in this picture.  I need a better system to take screenshots.
I mentioned earlier that the Mega Buster is lackluster at the start and it's telling when it takes you ten shots to kill a basic Canodumb, or three with maxed Damage.  It gets better with more levels in Charge, to the point it almost becomes a gamebreaker because of how quick it is at max Charge, limited by a full-power charge having annoyingly short range and you losing your charge level when you take damage.  When aura-equipped enemies start appearing near the end, your Buster won't be able to make them vulnerable so try not to neglect your Folder like I did.
Chips mostly behave the same as they do in their core series with several adapted to 2D gameplay, and there are still Program Advances too.  Even a basic Cannon + Hi-Cannon + M-Cannon combo gives you ridiculous firepower that also makes you invulnerable for several seconds--and it only uses one copy of each chip in the combo!  You can only have one active chip/PA at a time of your ‘hand’ of five and you use L/R to swap through them, or you can trigger Standby Mode and freely swap while the game is halted (though the Standby Mode notification blanks out most of the action).
Unlike the regular Battle Network games, you don't play as Lan at all.  He shows up in the story and he tools around in his room when you're not jacked in, but that's it, no skating through the overworld this time around.  Several characters show up in portrait form but otherwise aren't even given models.  And speaking of models, every Navi you beat creates a toy figure in Lan's room of that Navi which I thought was a nice little touch.  And because I don't really have anywhere else to fit in this complaint, the Japanese-only audio kind of got on my nerves and very little of it is actually subtitled.
Tumblr media
The jack in sequence is kinda impressive the first couple of times, but you can’t seem to skip it--and you have to watch it in reverse when you jack out!
Stages are pretty basic Mega Man fare.  Flat sections, sections you can slide through, ladders, enemies, spikes (that actually only deal 200 damage this time around so you can survive them after several HPMemory upgrades), instant death pits, the works!  Work your way to the end of the stage and face the boss in a battle to the death.  You're given a confirmation before entering the arena and almost all of them have a big health recovery behind the portal so you can heal up before duking it out.  I oddly got Mega Man ZX vibes with the way you enter new stages from the central Internet stage (ZX) and where you pick from stages without knowing who the boss is beforehand (Advent).  I mentioned the Classic Robot Master stage references but not every stage has them (SwordMan's doesn't seem much like the one in MM8) or the boss doesn't match the stage (ShadowMan's stage has the platforms from Guts Man's in MM1).
Tumblr media
I generally get frustrated when taking on disappearing block puzzles, but none of them in this game were all that bad.
Progression starts you against FireMan.EXE as the first boss, then you have to track down GutsMan.EXE, and you're given small batches of stages to choose from before getting railroaded again.  Navi difficulty is kind of all over the place--BrightMan was my bane yet SwordMan that came after him was no problem.  Interestingly, you can slide between the legs of some Navis and come out unharmed.  There's an area on the map where you can refight defeated Navis for their chips based on your performance.  Some bosses have gimmicks like BrightMan’s shield and a counterattack, or GravityMan having a tiny vulnerable area while you manually switch gravity by jumping.
I found the game to be pretty hard, a bit more than the average Mega Man sidescroller.  I've played every Classic game apart from Mega Man 11 and I still had a bit of trouble, like QuickMan's stage having instant-death lasers that never turn off once activated.  There are other parts where you need pretty good timing on your jumps and your slides to avoid unnecessary damage.  I wouldn't say the game is unfairly hard other than at the start so if you can soldier through that, you might be able to enjoy yourself.  Lan will always notify you when you hit zero BackUps, so you should probably jack out to not only refill your extra lives, but also to keep everything you picked up during this outing.  Having to work back to the boss room is a chore, but being able to exit a stage before defeating the boss is very rare in any Mega Man game.
Tumblr media
You can’t seem to jack out during a boss battle and you can only save in Lan’s Room, so try to be careful!
And I did enjoy the game.  Great music and fun familiar gameplay were a great combo, and it didn't outstay its welcome.  Farm 10 DoubleJump chips off of the flying penguin enemies in WaterComp's starting area and you'll be able to explore a little more in the cyberworlds since there are no Mega Man X-styled permanent upgrades or anything.  I found the controls to be pretty tight and there are a lot of chips to collect, a secret boss to unlock, and a variation on the ending too.  If you're a fan of 2D platformer Mega Man games, you'd probably like this one.  And even if you're more into Battle Network, the game isn't so hard as to be unfair.
And if you’re emulating, you can abuse savestates to get through the bank lasers.  Cough.
Tumblr media
More like, “I can feel wanton cyber-murder coming on!” in my experience.

Luxoflux invites grown-up players back for another game of 'good cop (or) bad cop' in this follow-up to 2003's L.A.-based action-adventure. As in the original True Crime, players take the role of an unorthodox law enforcement officer, and by their actions and in-game choices, determine the character's morality as they play through the story. In True Crime: New York City, the hero is a former gang member named Marcus Reed, who uses his hard-knocks schooling to powerful effect in the gritty underworld of the Big Apple. As in Streets of L.A., New York City missions play out in freely-roamed, GTA3-style environments, stocked with plenty to see and do even when Marcus isn't working towards a specific mission goal. Key characters are voiced by accomplished screen actors, including Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne, and Mickey Rourke, with Marcus Reed portrayed by Avery Waddell.

True Crime NYC is the sequel to True Crime: Streets of LA. It's also attempting a huge bite out of Grand Theft Auto's target audience. It's gritty, realistic (sort of), and meant to bring you right into the seedy underbelly of a New York crime drama. Does it do all this?
Nope, no, nada, sorry, but I digress. The rendering of New York City is incredible. A lot of detail and painstaking care went into making every street and alley look authentic. From Times Square to the depths of Harlem, everything is VERY close to reality. As a tour program this game excels, but I'm betting you're hoping for a lot more than a tour.
Before I get to what's wrong with this game, let me focus on what's right. It's a much shorter list. The graphics are quality, with features drawing from the latest in pixel shading, high polygon count character models and impressive motion capture, topped off with a gorgeous depiction of the big city that leaves a good taste in your mouth. You can spend a fair amount of time enjoying the scenery and getting lost in the mix. Another point for True Crime: the voice acting. They have spared no expense to obtain talent, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Walken and many others top the list of grade-A voice acting for this game's gritty plot. When I first heard the voice of a mysterious officer bark out orders and explain my next mission in Christopher Walken's creepy cadence, I was very much caught in the moment. On a further note, the audio in this game is not lacking. Sound effects are crisp and believable for the most part, the soundtrack is as varied as you could ever hope for. Bouncing from White Zombie to De La Soul to The Ramones had me guessing that they wanted to avoid the rap-only crowd, though there is a large share of that too.
The plot, in case you're wondering, is you taking the role of Marcus Reed, a down and dirty gangster thug who has embraced the straight and narrow and become a police officer. Although he can still fight and play dirty, he's out to solve a few mysteries and clean up the town. This is mostly achieved by driving around (or by subway, or walking, but, unlike the real NYC, driving is preferable) and catching calls on the radio for random crimes. There is an interesting amount of variety in the crimes, but you soon reach the end of the cycle and bust your 34th counterfeit syndicate and your 23rd serial rapist and the regular missions soon get old. There is a larger plot to follow, however, and it is slightly more interesting. You follow a series of clues and leads to interrogate increasingly more important thugs. The interrogation mini-game is a fun little past-time to beat, or reason, information out of people. You're soon turned onto a mission that involves a mole from inside the precinct.
Ultimately, this plot has been done to death so many times on so many cop dramas that it's difficult to get engaged. This is just the beginning of where the game goes downhill. Obviously, high production values went into this game, but as is so often the case lately, they missed the mark in some very key areas. The controls for one. Amd display driver whql 8.10. I have rarely seen a more convoluted control system for PC.
Tumblr media
I'll be the first to admit that this was originally for console, but it seems that barely a token effort was made to translate the commands to a keyboard layout. My fingers got a workout hopping all over the keyboard for the numerous and poorly constructed commands. If you're thinking that a gamepad might fix all this, nix that idea too. My Logitech PS2 Styled PC gamepad looked like a perfect match for this game, alas it was barely configurable and did not coordinate to the multiple styles of game play, you could set it up for driving, but not running, or vice versa, but its limitations soon had me back on the keyboard.
After I had adapted to the controls somewhat, the physics had me somewhat at a loss. Keeping in mind that this is not a driving simulation, at its core, I don't expect much more than doughy arcade style driving. Labtec speakers drivers download. But nothing handled as I expected, the cars were sloppy, sometimes you lightly skidded off the front end of a fire truck, other times being brushed by a motorcycle had you recoiling and turning 360's while your perpetrator was getting further and further away. The fighting system was convoluted as well, with a light attack, a heavy attack, a grab attack that was also the way to frisk people, which is also the button to arrest people, plus the buttons to put away your gun, pull it back out, fire a warning shot, flash your badge, tackle someone, all while trying to keep the squirrelly camera centered behind you (which it rarely does well).
In the graphics department there were glitches, clipping into walls, as well as criminals falling through solid concrete and waiting in the ether for you to attempt, in vain, to arrest them. At one point I was forced to kill a non-lethal perp by shooting him in the foot, just to end the mission. Top this off with some frame lag and a whack targeting system, and you can sense my mounting frustration. You'll often find yourself tackling air, punching civilians and firing point blank at walls. There were also numerous points where the textures for multiple guns seems to be missing, and your Uzi,s or pistol would appear as a white textureless shape.
True Crime Pc Game Free Download
In a GTA-styled attempt to test the limits of my virtual city, I shot an arsonist, grabbed his flamethrower and took out 30 people before highjacking a public bus and driving over half the residents of the Lower East Side. I finished up with some cop killing. reckless driving and traffic accidents. I was being hunted by every cop in the city and identified as a rogue cop who was 'mentally unstable,' according to the radio. Assured of my own impending death, I ran to and fro waiting for the inevitable. Which never came. I made a break through the park and dived into the bay and swam around for 2-3 minutes. Upon returning to shore my 'criminal' rating had gone back down and I was back to being boy hero. Realism indeed. In another game glitch, I began a mission to follow a motorcycle courier on a bike of my own for an exciting chase, but after trying 20 times to follow him, he wrecked within two blocks almost every time. Finally I just tracked him down on foot after he fell and interrogated him, wondering why I even got on the motorcycle. It's this kind of unfinished and unpolished gameplay that brings this gaming experience to its knees. I couldn't bring myself to care about the characters, the city, the law; nothing in this game draws you in efficiently enough to make you want to finish it.
The controls need work, the engine needs work, the collision detection needs work, the AI needs serious work, all in all I wouldn't be surprised if you told me this was a beta. A brief look at the customer support page for Activision also shows that numerous glitches and problems were had by users of all consoles. Overall, a well-presented, high-budget flop. Advanced systemcare ultimate 7 crack. The world doesn't ever need another World War 2 game but developers keep making them, which I guess is the same reason they keep trying to capitalize on the awesome profits of Grand Theft Auto. But a bigger budget does not make a better game.

→ writing & other tips!
Hello! This entire post is essentially stemming from the fact that I get messages often about the subject of writing / running a writing blog, and what advice I have in the area. In all honesty I’m not sure how new this information will be to anyone looking at it, but it’s more so to serve as something I can have linked in my FAQ, for anyone interested in my opinion on the matter. This post will be updated as I think of more things to include, but the basics that will be covered is writing advice, writing-blog advice, and just my overall opinion on certain aspects of writing in general on a public platform.
↠ Running a Writing Blog
My initial advice for this is just going to be technical / formatting aspects of posting your writing. Nothing all that earth shattering, just creating masterlists, links in your bio, dealing with demands kind of stuff.
Formatting
When it comes to formatting, choose one that really displays what your fic is about. For example, my usual format is: Pairing, Genre, Word Count, Description, Gif / Banner. I find this important just because I think some people might underestimate the importance of a good format. Because if I’m being honest I usually won’t even click on a fic if there’s no word count. Not to say it’s necessary, because I’m not here to tell people specifically the 100% way to run a writing blog, but this is just my experience / personal preference.
Tagging
Now once you’ve got your fic written and post formatted, next you have to put some tags. I tend to use very broad general tags such as, bts fanfic, bts scenarios, bts smut, bts angst, ect. Once you get into specifics there are tags such as seokjin fanfic, yoongi scenarios, hoseok smut, ect. This simply allows for people to find your fics when searching.
Creating a Masterlist / Linking
Once your first scenario is posted you might want to make a masterlist to post in your bio. This probably isn’t new information for some, but I get an ask about links every couple of weeks, so I figured we might as well cover all of the bases. In order to create a masterlist, simply open up a new text post, type in the title of your fic (or however you’re wanting to organize it), get the url to your fic and copy it, highlight the title you’ve written on the text post, a series of buttons should appear above, choose the one that is the fourth from the left (it looks like an infinity sign), paste the url into the box that appears, and you have yourself the start of a masterlist. Once you have that done you might want to link your masterlist in your bio. In order to do so you simply:
1. Go to edit theme
2. Paste this code into your bio <a href=“url of masterlist”>masterlist</a>
3. Replace the things I’ve put in bold with your actual masterlist url, or whatever you want the link to be called, so masterlist, writing, mlist, ect
Dealing with Demands
It’s unfortunate, but more than likely you’ll get a demanding ask at least once in your tumblr lifetime. Sometimes it’s asking for updates, requesting repeatedly, or someone just being plain rude. To combat against the update asks, make an FAQ. It’ll cut down on some of the demands, but of course not all. As for the straight up rude anons / users, just block them. Don’t give them the satisfaction of allowing them to stay on your blog. If you really want to respond, screenshot it and answer it that way, but still block them. This is your blog. No one has the right to be demanding of you, and to make it a place that you come to detest.
↠ The Actual Writing Part
I would say the first piece of advice I have about writing in general is to make sure that you’re writing for the right reasons. This is only because I’ve seen a common trend of people saying how stressed writing makes them, to the point of them actually hating it. I think this is because before people start posting on tumblr, they sometimes don’t get what comes along with it, or some aren’t necessarily doing it for the right reasons (of course regardless of anyone’s reasons, it’s your hobby, so really do what you want! this is simply an opinion).
For instance if you’re doing it strictly for notes, you might be highly disappointed when the pwp smut that took your three hours to write gets a 1,000 notes, whereas that fic that took you three weeks to plan out, and six weeks to write gets 300. It’s going to really stunt your creativity if you’re doing it strictly for that particular reason, because unfortunately the previously mentioned scenario is quite common. Or there are some who start writing because they want to have a ‘popular’ blog of sorts with lots of followers who will message them… But unfortunately even with a lot of followers, people just tend to not send messages for the most part. You might really love a fic that you posted, but get maybe six or seven comments on it. So again, if that’s your specific underlying reasoning behind wanting to post your writing, it might not turn out how you expected.
I just wanted to say the above points because I see it time and time again, and I don’t want people to get discouraged if it’s not what they were expecting it to be. Don’t get me wrong, as a writer on this site, I appreciate so, so much the notes / comments / ect that people give to my fics, but if that is what’s specifically tethering you to the craft, then you might not enjoy your time posting on tumblr. But again, this is your choice, so if you want to write simply for notes or for whatever reason, then obviously that’s completely fine! I’m mostly just saying the above because writing can become tiresome after a while if it doesn’t bring the outcome you’re expecting and it’s not something you truly enjoyed in the first place.
Okay, so now that I’ve gotten this disclaimer out of the way, I’ll try to give tips on writing, sorry if they’re generic. Honestly, my writing process is really simple, so I’m not sure how helpful this will be, but I’m going to try my best.
Forming an Idea / Plot
This is probably the simplest part. Just the general idea that you want to write about. Not the details, just the main focus. Sometimes it can stem from just knowing what au you want to tackle, so college au, expecting parents au, werewolf au, ect. Or perhaps you don’t know the setting yet, but you know the conflict or emotions you want the characters to elicit. Maybe you just know in your head that you really want to write a Jimin fluff. With that you can sit back and mull over what the best template for displaying that would be. So maybe a first date, anniversary, cute frat boy takes you to the greek formal, it can literally be anything. So really play around with things. Write that vampire hanahaki au or fic that’s so cheesy you cringe (I’ve written many of those lol). Just explore the wonderful world of genres or aus, because in the end you should write what you want to write.
Planning
This section is quite flexible. I mean all of these points are flexible, but this one most certainly. If there’s one thing that varies to a great degree between each and every writer it’s planning a fic out. There’s hundreds of methods, and you really just need to find the one that works for you! I personally have a very simple approach to writing. I’ll use Loving Him, Loving Her as an example.
1. Simply think of an idea: Unrequited love + best friend AU
2. Make mental bullet points of plot: flash-forward scene, the oc and Taehyung meeting, time-skip, party at Taehyung’s lake house, sex scene —
3. Write it out with this loose template
4. Once the writing process is over, go back through, re-read for misspellings, grammar issues, spaces where a bit of added narrative is needed
5. Post
It’s honestly a very simple process, but it’s what works best for me, and everyone is of course different! Personally, planning a fic out down to the very scenes, just doesn’t work for me. Because then when I’m writing I feel very constricted. I much prefer just having a vague idea of what I want the plot to be, and tackling it that way. However, again this is my approach, and it’s obviously okay if it doesn’t work for everyone. Lots of people love to outline, and that’s a totally viable option. Plan out each scene, one by one, jot down the emotions, dialogue, actions, ect that you want to happen within the scenes. That way once you go to write your fic, everything is planned and you just have to follow the template you’ve set for yourself.
These are just two methods of the many that there are. Eventually, after writing a lot, you’ll find a specific process that personally works for you!
Process
Writing can honestly be really stressful. Even if the constant asks for updates or demanding messages don’t bother you. Sometimes it’s just stressful because you want to write, but it just isn’t coming as easily as you would like. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat in front of my laptop, wanting to write, but then I just blank. It’s incredibly frustrating to have a plot locked in your head, and knowing exactly what you want to happen, but then not being able to find the words to formulate it. So just understand that it’s okay to take breaks, to throw away a wip, to take a seven month hiatus on a series. It doesn’t mean that you should give up on writing, it just means that you need a break, a change in direction, or just something. People get burnt out on things they love all the time. Sports, drawing, writing, whatever it is, you just have to understand that it’s all a part of a process.
Know when to take breaks. Put your health at the forefront of everything, because finishing a fic isn’t worth jeopardizing that. Understand that the fic will be there tomorrow, the next day, and the next day, so take your time!
Again, I know all if this is stuff that you’ve all probably heard, but sometimes people ask for my writing advice, and this post pretty much encompasses my opinion on writing and the process of writing / posting on a public format such as tumblr. I hope it was somewhat helpful. Just remember that this is supposed to be fun. Don’t let the stress destroy your love for writing if it’s really something that you honestly enjoy!

a different route
this certainly went off on one, somewhere I didn’t expect but it has been one of those days but hey, you ask and I write cause I love it :)
thank you to the anon who requested dans girlfriend to be a famous journalist, I hope you enjoy.
oh and remember that I am not writing anymore after this sunday until July, as studies come first. so if you’ve got an ask then unless you want to wait til july ask away!
Collapsing into my chair I stare at the screen before opening a blank document. Picking up the hefty amount of papers I sort through them, finding the rough copy to base this article on.
"Oh I've got those pictures," My office neighbour pipes up, a tired smile on her face. "check your emails."  Thanking her I opened them up, feeling my heart flutter as I admire him in yet another venue moving further and further away from me.
It's weird to think how just over three years ago we were strangers, I was jotting notes in secret behind the small venue they were performing at. Every single one of them was a sweetheart, but he went the extra mile. He offered me his friend’s number who worked in publishing, and here I am today. One of the most rewound journalists within our company alone.
My boss told me I had a set piece to write, that it had the potential to be something great, or an utter disaster. He sent me on tour with my boyfriend. The idea was to get inside the touring lifestyle, the real truth rather than the fantasies that fans or the press create. Having never been on a bus for more than an hour at most, it was certainly a month I won’t forget.
I jotted down too many notes to count on bits of paper, old programmes or unused posters. Now I sit here reminiscing it all, and trying my hardest to not check up on him via Will who is my reliant source whilst Dan is asleep on the bus. As I flick through the photos on my email I can’t help but feel my heart sink, the light in his eyes as he performs to the crowds and how I’d observe from backstage. How after the show he’d run down, still full of adrenaline and pick me up, spin me around and just laugh.
We’d all go for drinks, enjoy ourselves as we discovered new places in new cities and countries we’d never considered exploring. I bonded with the guys on a new level and took behind the scene photos of how the tour happens and the experience as someone who is not a groupie but technically a groupie.
Yet now I just stare at the blank document, unsure how to fathom a beginning. How can someone condense all of those memories and new found experiences into five thousand words or less? If you told me three years ago this is what I’d be doing I would’ve told you that I had a famous boyfriend or that pigs fly, funny how times change.
Glancing around everyone keeps their heads down to themselves, typing away or wandering around with resources and materials for the website or magazines. Sighing I lent back and forth, focusing on the squeaking of the chair as I went. Usually inspiration struck at any point, and it was known. On tour I was just having a chat to Woody by a lake when I paused and didn’t even blink, he thought I was having a stroke but that was the first insight I had to my article and something to write about.
I force my chair back, hearing the wheels scrape across the ground. Picking my laptop up along with my phone I wander by my bosses office, knocking and patiently waiting. “Hey Gary.” I call out as I peep my head through the door. A large smile plastered across his face as he motions for me to come inside.
“If it isn’t my famous little journalist.” He exclaims as I sit down in front of him, his eyes struggling to focus between me and his laptop. “So what can I help you with?” Resting his head in his hands he stares at me, that admiration in his eyes. Who’d of thought the nervous girl who was too afraid to leave her desk to go to the bathroom would be on a friendly basis with the man behind the business.
“I need to leave.” Not messing about I get straight to the point, usually at this point he’d lean back in his chair, not losing focus on my expression. “As in to get inspiration, you know how it is.” I shrug as he remains quiet, lifting his right eyebrow slightly he seems unconvinced. “What? It’s not like I’m off to go see Dan, we both know he is in America.” I can’t help but sigh when I think of it, how far away he is now.
“Do you know what you need to do?” I stayed quiet, still unsure whether he was intending it to be rhetorical or not. Rolling his chair in he began to type into his computer, “You need to work from home. Get inspiration from what is around you, where you’re surrounded by memories and not bland confined spaces.” He holds his hands out to his sides, waiting for a response.
“Sounds good to me.” Smiling we both stand up, he shakes my hand before dismissing me.
“Oh and one more thing,” He chimes as I hold onto the door handle, turning slowly to face him. “you are the writer, not the one to be written about.” Turning the monitor he displays multiple pictures of me with the band, pictures I didn’t know existed. “You’re on the rise girl, be careful.”
Closing the door behind me I pause, taking a deep breath before collecting my things. As I reach the lift I can hear laughter echo in the empty space, the time Dan insisted on visiting me at work, seeing how it all happens. He couldn’t stop trying to make me laugh as I wanted to focus, Gary made me conduct an interview meaning Dan got what he wanted in the end, to hear me laugh.
Even now as I turn my head to see my reflection I can picture his sweet smile, the daft grin he’d sometimes wear when we were in the discomfort of the bunks on the bus- never able to sleep in one without risking the other's life throughout the night. Pulling my phone out of my pocket I immediately see a flash of messages, different social media handles displayed with all forms of jargon drawing me in.
Shrugging it off I could feel a weight resting against my chest, the type that makes it difficult to breathe with ease. The doors open distracting me as I walk out and catch a cab back home, unable to ignore the weight on my chest as the driver exchanged few words with me. As he pulled up outside and I paid him I walked up the steps, finding each harder than the last as my phone began to burn in my pocket, leaving a scorch on my thigh.
Once I stood in my doorway I threw my bags onto the sofa, kicked my shoes off and pulled my phone out. As I scrolled through I saw an assortment of worrying words, my heart beat rising and my jaw tightening. ‘crash, accident, death, dead, pain, love, lost, her, writer, musician, friends’
Words that blur together like my vision as I blink rapidly, unable to stop the drastic shaking of my hands as I dialed the number, the one I can rely on when Dan sleeps. Each ring feels too long, too drawn out for it to be okay, for everyone to be perfectly alright. It doesn’t matter what time in the night, unless they’re performing, maybe that’s it. They’re just performing.
I continue to rationalise the thoughts as the ringing continues, eventually cutting itself off. “Will?” My voice trembles weakly, I hear a groan and too much noise behind him. “Will what’s happening? Is everyone alright? What is going on?” Too many questions fire out of my mouth before my brain can comprehend them.
A long drawn out sigh follows on his end, he mutters my name with too much sorrow. With every blink a different memory flashes by, a screenshot in my mind of us on tour, seeing new sights and saying how we’d go back someday, someday. “Some idiot. Crashed into the bus.” He groans, barely a broken whisper down the eerily silent line. I hold my breath, not wanting to risk mishearing him. “Dan was asleep. We got off to just stretch out.”
My body begins to shut down, the fear rising in my throat burning my insides. “Are you okay?” I blink rapidly, unsure how else to react. I can’t bring myself to ask the question, the one I am too afraid to face.
Another mutter of my name, this time more sincere but still too much emotion. “We are fine, few cuts and bruises but Dan is-”
“And the bus can it be fixed or replaced? Oh all of your instruments must be wrecked.” Distracting my own thoughts and despite him being thousands of miles away I can sense him knowing, the look he is wearing with scrunched brows, hiding his gaze.
“Please just, I need to tell you.” All emotion was gone from his voice.
Staring straight ahead at the framed picture of the two of us a matter of months ago I stopped blinking, everything gone. “You don’t need to say what is already known.” I mutter before pulling the phone away from my ear, hanging up.
Walking over to my laptop I open it up, forcefully wiping away tears as I continue to smile as I watch the videos, admire the photos of the past month. How can someone fathom five thousand words to describe the pain they feel knowing they can never see the only person they truly love again? They can’t, as not even a single word can justify that sort of pain.

My complete guide to winning airline competitions
I'm actually writing this on the 20th December 2019 before my third win with pre-emptive confidence that I am going to win another big airline competition by more skill rather than luck.
1. The first was Sri Lankan airlines. I submitted a picture of my decorated Christmas desk at work and told them why I wanted to go to Sri Lanka. Skill and research led me to be chosen and taken out for a week to Sri Lanka with everything paid for. They even filmed it and I am on their website.
2. Air Transat did a mother's day competition. I signed my mother's card with the other page explaining that I want to go to Canada to see my uncle, auntie and cousins. They picked it for originality.
Since then I've entered 100's more competitions on FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM ranging from Tagging / Commenting / Sharing / Downloading apps / Writing essays / Making videos & pictures. I have come close in quite a few and it keeps spurring me on.
Here's some rules to abide by to help you get your first win.
The most important one first
Read fully the T&C's (Terms and conditions) and understand them. Then re-read them again. You will find you missed something across many pages and that 1 little thing can disqualify your entry. Sometimes it even comes down to uploading the right picture format and 200x200 pixels! etc. Also a lot of people throw their entry in the comments section when it's not counted!
Use an independent account so that other people can't hop onto your potential win. Algorithms will show friends what they might also be interested in and what friends are doing. There was one with only 12 legit entries so having a few people hop onto the competition via you might have someone else win. If it's that long lost person you didn't really like from school that you forgot you had added. Well don't blame me lol. Finally it also helps you to see competitions in your news feed only and you may have to block some pages that are not relevant but sponsored, but all this is easier than your main account.
Have a trusted friend/partner who you can tag any time of day in any competition as a lot ask for this. Make sure they don't go liking and commenting all over it as the algorithms again will show 3rd party friends over theirs.
Remember you can't win them all. There will be complete frustration and let down in some competitions. You may even have a hard time getting to sleep one night as you convince yourself you are the winner. An airline once chose mine to display amazing entries so far. Honestly mine was very detailed with a photo and the chosen winners were pretty much "I want to go here with my friend" Fuming! Many competitions choose at random so therefore beware of putting in lots of time to the standard. (Tag a friend and comment below some shit).
Although it may be tempting, never call out people for their invalid entries. You see people do this regularly helping out people that don't read and it's dog eat dog. If you don't understand how to enter, give yourself a break for a day or 2 and see if you can work it out as you don't want to create a huge hype of invalid entree's now re-entering legit.
Some competitions use flash games like tetris or little games. If the rules say a random pick of anyone that submits their score. Enter. If its highest score have a go but know that there's probably some kid out their scripting the best score while he's sleeping! Very unfair. I met one of these people in China and they were a millionaire from doing higher level scripting as a career and they showed me it in action!
Keep a log and calendar of competitions ending so you can keep track. Many times I have gone back and used another account not associated with my entry to call out BULLSHIT winners and referred to the T&C's. Most of the time the winners will be re-picked if enough people complain (Hence the reason for using another account to call out). Further to this a lot of competition organisers need a bit more time to draw the winner. The amount of people that complain and get rude is hilarious and they are definitely excluding themselves as winners haha
Don't jump on the bandwagon. Be very original and detailed. NEVER take pictures from the internet! Sometimes you are asked to provide a "personal" picture of the country they are sending you to (RARE). Find a facebook friend and low key use their photo of that country, but make sure it's not traceable. Hence the alternative account to avoid friend detection first. Should be fine, maybe even bring them a gift back and tell them the whole story if you did win it lol.
Another Don't jump on the bandwagon. I'm a big believer that when you win something they list your name in their database. So why enter to win a model plane or a goodie bag. I've nearly entered many times without reading the T&C's finding it's a tiny prize and that could really take you out the big win in the future. It looks fixed to have a person win twice! We all know it.
Keep a folder with essays, finest photos, information which you feel will stand out. It's quite easy to adapt an essay or picture which you are really into and come at a new competition with a different angle.
Do not suck up to the competition organisers with your entry/response. No family tragedies or I'm poor story's.
Check the amount of follows and start date of pages you are entering competitions through. Anything from 0-100 is pretty much bullshit. 100-500, be cautious. 1000+ and you're looking good to go. All SandrasTips or whatever is pure bullshit. No one gives a car for free away every month. Its collecting lots of personal details and being sold onto marketing companies who will most likely make a sale from vulnerable / uneducated people. Also have the occasional clear out of pages you follow that are not relevant to your news feed and apps.
Don't ever comment on a post / like a post / share a post unless asked to. Algorithms will show people what is trending/popular increasing the chance of popping up on peoples news feeds on the world stage. This means being organised to post your entry on their facebook post in the final hours of the competition. Reduce the "multiplication of bacteria" affect. Some competitions state a deadline date for entries but always have a clause that allows them to change their T&C's so suit them for closing the competition earlier than expected as they get too many entries. Just get that entry in if you can see the hype!
If you're at a festival, ask if you don't see any competitions. Half the time there’s something alright going and sometimes you don't have to pay for tickets.
Take a screenshot if you're in a rush and come back to it the SAME DAY. Same day is a must as I've missed out some easy competitions by mere hours!. As I'm writing this I missed one yesterday. Some capabilities of facebook are better on a laptop/PC and so are the external links which you go through to enter from legit pages which are often buggy when clicking that most important "Enter" button. Double click and you usually give a double entry which under the T&C is a disqualification. This is why I have got into the screenshots as some are simply near impossible to enter by phone! Crappy website designers! Also keep in mind there's more sponsored competitions via phone app's.
Bookmark entry pages and one's you can enter daily and to keep an eye on and also remember the one's you've already signed up to as most disqualify duplicate entries. Some let you re-enter if you are unhappy with your first. It's very good to see competition that emerges over the course of the competition. I have seen winners win with their second entry before.
Some of them you are just going to find so simple and some you should know when to not bother. For example. They want you to make a movie hyping up your town. I'm out already, someone in a nice city is going to destroy you over your random village/town.
Proper photograph competitions. If you don't have a very expensive camera and photo editing, forget it. No one gives a crap about iphone images.
Think about how you display and present entries. Merge photos or join them with an essay by the side with font large enough to read. Pretty it up. Remember lot's of competitions want to display your entry as raw as you sent it in. Get it presentable. No big airline with 1mil followers is going to show anything that isn't smart and professional.
Have a good look at entries for ideas. You can spur on a new idea and end up not shooting yourself in the foot with something less interesting than the competition.
Check filtered messages occasionally. Sometimes you can get messaged for the next phase of entries or as I have found one employee contacted me off her personal account which was in my "message requests". I went straight to the Air Transat main page with the screenshot to check if legit. Luckily it was and then I started the process of getting my FREE FLIGHTS TO TORONTO.
DPA - Data Protection
Be damn careful of just signing up to entry forms.
Name and email should be fine. You can use a different email just for competitions. You can also use a name for each one to detect who's selling your details to companies as the emails will address you by that name. You can really catch some companies out easy that way.
Address' and phone numbers are more personal. You should be confident that you are signing up to a more legit place. Even if not that legit nothing really happens. It's just you're getting more specific details in someone's database and can get spam letters and phone calls based on your area to sell you insurance or energy plans.
I've had to block many numbers over the years but it's really dying down to not getting any anymore.
Never sign into Facebook via an email link to enter a competition. Always through the normal channels and paste the hyperlink in. If you're already on Facebook logged in and you copy the link in and asks to log in. BULLSHIT get away.
Never ever give any payment details. This guide is based on completely free entries for big wins.
 Finally
Remember there's nothing that similar of a rush than winning a flight and holiday somewhere absolutely free!
Don't become obsessed with competitions, it can consume your day and most of the time waiting around for something you won't win which is why the calendar is a good idea. Write the deadlines in and check it once a day.
Never be a sore loser for a legit winner, be happy for them, they might be in a really bad situation and this has allowed them to see someone across the other side of the world they haven't seen in 20 years.
