30-Album Of The Year: tie, @intercoursenoise - Everything Is Pornography When You've Got An Imagination and @cultleadermusic - A Patient Man. Constant Disappointment Records on white and red splatter of 50 and @deathwishinc on opaque red/black mix of 1000. I'm drawn between these 2 albums as AOTY. Both are phenomenal in their own ways. Cult Leader is hauntingly beautiful while being disgustingly crushing, while Intercourse is out of left field with bizarre yet brilliantly worded lyrics. #novvinylchallenge day 14: sophomore release. I started thinking about including EPs in discography to qualify something as a sophomore RELEASE, but opted just to go for the second full-length studio album. Spotlight: #TheGrapeAndTheGrain's full-band second album! What a great damn project. What began as the brainchild of #DanielGrimsland (of #theband3), TGATG evolved into a monster in its own right. This release saw how many more corners of the musical spectrum could be tapped into when you mix in a cast of talented songwriters and musicians with a gifted multi-instrumentalist. This 2014 self-titled kicks ass! The music is up on bandcamp to check out. The album was recorded and mixed at the legendary #appleheadstudio in Woodstock, NY by CJB & Mike Boom. This vinyl was #crowdfunded via #Rockethub and is one out of 100. There's actually 10 left on #bandcamp, so hurry and grab one before there's none left! They were hand-screened by #boneshakerrecords. This is the 2017 repress that was only exclusive to 100 of the 150 attendees for the Q & A at @recklessrecords in Chicago, IL in September this year during Riot Fest weekend. The first 50 people in line got a free copy of the Soundtrack for the Ken Burns documentary on The Vietnam War on PBS. The following 100 was eligible for purchasing a single signed copy of Broken, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, The Fragile Deviations, or Not the actual events. 21. Friend’s pick: Guero by Beck Andrew picked this one for me. I grew up on this album. My whole family loved it. My parents had great taste in music, and still do. They introduced me to Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Beck, Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crow, Peter Gabriel, The Cure.. now my tastes have become more specific but we still find a lot of common ground. And my sister and I have musical overlap when it comes to pop and alternative artists. The two things my family never listened to much: rap and country.
