the keyword in there is bait, and subtext does not equal bait

bait is outright stating something queer would happen but then it doesn't or it's so minor that like- who would even advertise for a 2 second in the background kiss scene between 2 women HAhhah

so like. I saw someone say SMG34 at this point is queerbait

which I think, when you clearly say it jokingly, is fine

they've done a lot of silly stuff with them that makes you wonder how they're not together

but that doesn't mean it's queerbaiting

it would be queerbaiting if one of the crew or smg4official went on twitter and tweeted "you might see 2 certain men kiss tonight!" and then it would be 2 random men who never appear ever again

now with that aside, I think we can call the true love's kiss queerbaiting. at least halfly. what the fuck was up with that

because it WAS bait

the bait promised us something and then it didn't deliver on it

or you can cheekily say it was with the frogs in the competition but that's just even more reinforcing the idea that it's queerbaiting because you justify it with something stupid

anyways, even when I call it queerbait it's like, half jokingly, I'm only still a lil mad about it but it's nothing serious, we know it's not out of homophobia because like I'm pretty sure 3 just canonically is into men so it's not like it's coming from a space of bigotry

but I still do think it's either coming from an odd choice from the production, maybe from Luke or with the writers

where they keep delaying them or don't even want to make them canon for whatever reason, even if it would totally make sense. Or, optionally, they just make it soft canon where there's like a ton of in the background references for them being MAYBE involved

then one day we just randly see 4 with an engagement ring on as we're supposed to just accept that, just like that

that reminds me, for my essay, I think I have an idea on where 3 truly fell for 4 because I think he went through some phases when it comes to that

because here I mean romantically

and they don't. need to be romantically involved for snowtrapped yknow

or anything else up until then maybe? maybe
